It was a quiet afternoon at Lucy's apartment and the blonde eagerly held up her pen because today was the day. This was the day that she was finally going to start her masterpiece. After so many years of practising, so many months of planning, so many hours spent discussing it with Levy, Lucy was finally going to write her novel.

The pen touched the paper and ever so slowly the first few words started to appear –

"LUCY!"

Startled, Lucy jumped, her hand skated across the paper, and black ink splattered everywhere. Her mind instantly went blank and everything was gone.

She was not going to be writing her masterpiece today.

"Natsu!" she growled furiously. The pink haired Dragon Slayer had climbed through her window, again, despite her telling him repeatedly not to. "What are you doing here?!"

"I got a paper cut!" Natsu whined.

"So?" Lucy snapped as she reached for a fresh piece of paper. "What do you want me to do about it? Kiss it better?"

"YOUR KISSES CAN DO THAT?!" Natsu bellowed, looking shocked. "WHY HAVEN'T YOU HEALED US BEFORE?!"

"It's just an expression," Lucy rolled her eyes, "it's what all mothers do for their children. Didn't your…." Lucy trailed off as she realised that Natsu would have never known his mother. She bit her lip nervously and Natsu tilted is head to frown at her as if she was being a weirdo again. "It's just something nice that makes people feel better," she finished helplessly.

"All right then!" Natsu grinned. "Here." He shoved his finger into Lucy's face. "Kiss it better!"

Lucy restrained herself from screeching or giving him a Lucy Kick for being such an idiot as she gently grabbed his wrist and pulled his hand down closer to her lips. Softly she blew against his hot skin before she touched the tip of his finger with her lips…..and then quickly pulled away.

"There you go!" she said quickly as she fumbled for her pen. Her cheeks burned bright red as she avoided meeting Natsu's eyes. "All better now."

She then focused all her attention back onto the blank piece of paper as she tried to think of her masterpiece that she had been about to write. It suddenly became a difficult task as all she could hear was her clock ticking, Natsu breathing, and her own heart thudding like mad.

Then Natsu suddenly got up, rushed into the kitchen, and made a lot of noise before he came running back in. "Hey Luce," he mumbled, she turned and gasped as she saw blood run down his chin, "I hurt my mouth," Natsu whined childishly, "kiss it better!"

Lucy never did get to write her novel that day, she was too preoccupied with other things.
