Chapter 2

5:00 AM

The pizzeria returned to its state of silence and darkness. Not a single sound could be heard. The mascots kept quiet, fearing that someone would inspect the area.

"Why wouldn't you check the volume on the amp???" Chica whispered angrily. "We're definitely screwed now!" Bonnie couldn't help but feel terrible.

"Hey, scolding isn't the first thing we need to prioritize, Chica. Keep quiet," Freddy demanded, also whispering.

"Is Foxy in his area?" Bonnie whispered.

"It's best not to check. I'm sure he knew what to do," Freddy responded.

"Shh!"

It was silent again. The only thing the trio could do in their room was wait.

Amelia Thompson was hired for Freddy Fazbear's Pizza two weeks ago as a backup security guard. She is twenty years old, and has three siblings: two brothers and a sister. She is the eldest child in her family.

Amelia graduated from high school and spent two years in college. She received an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, and is using her college experience for her current job.

Driving in her Toyota, Amelia was tired, but focused on her objective. Ever since she was hired, she hasn't been assigned with anything that excited her. Now, she was determined to find who was responsible for starting a commotion in the building.

Her apartment wasn't too far from the restaurant, so she only took three minutes to get there.

It was just a matter of time until someone's car approached the restaurant and stopped in the parking lot. The bright headlights illuminated the entrance of the building.

From outside the curtains, Foxy could see the white light.

He broke a sweat nervously as he lowered his head behind some boxes.

The car's engine came to a halt. The headlights automatically turned off as the door to the car opened. A female security guard stood outside holding a flashlight.

Every mascot listened to the sounds that were made, hoping that the person outside would not search their places.

Keys jiggling could be heard. Then, the door's lock was opened. The security guard opened the door slowly, turning on her flashlight. Just like the headlights on her car, the flashlight's beam lit up the dining room.

Amelia looked around, standing in front of the entrance. The first thing she noticed was that the animatronics were gone.

"...Huh?"

She was confused, but Amelia knew she had to focus on her given objective. Out of curiosity, she turned her head towards the curtains of Pirate's Cove.

Inside, Foxy knew she was looking at his area. His eyes widened, and he covered his mouth with both of his hands. He lowered himself even more.

Who is this? Why are they here? Do they know we exist? Foxy's thoughts once again scattered in his mind.

Amelia, knowing that the animatronics weren't on the main stage, decided to check on the last one.

She put her hand on the purple curtain and moved it open.

Nothing. Just darkness.

She let go of the curtain, leaving it open.

"Where are the animatronics?!" She muttered.

Then, she came up with a theory that they were under repair. She looked at the backstage door, and walked towards it.

Foxy slowly emerged from his hiding spot, observing the night guard.

Outside, everyone heard the footsteps grow louder. The only light in the room came from the bottom of the closed door. Freddy moved his hand, directing Bonnie and Chica to hide where they cannot be seen.

Amelia, pointing her flashlight at the door, opened it with caution.

Freddy crouched down, hoping that he and his friends would not be found.

The light entered the room. It revealed several boxes that were all different sizes. Amelia looked around, not noticing anything strange, or unusual.

But then, she looked closer. A purple ear poked out from the pile of boxes. She was going to approach the ear when she heard the sound of something fall. Amelia looked back and saw a small box and a pirate's hook on the floor. She was definitely confused now.

What should I check? The ear? Or the things that fell out of nowhere?

Amelia decided to check on the objects later and turned around. The purple ear was gone.

What???

Desperately trying to find the ear again, she dug in the pile of boxes, but found nothing. Meanwhile, Bonnie moved to the corner of the room, sweating and trying to reduce his breathing.

Amelia, still confused, started to grow impatient. She walked out of the backstage room and went to the dining room.

She cleared her throat.

"Alright, kids. You've had your fun. I know you all are hiding somewhere, so just come out so you can get out of here."

There was silence. The mascots heard what Amelia said, and had no idea what to do.

"Should we give in?" Chica asked to Freddy.

"I don't know," Freddy mumbled.

"It's worth a try. Let's try to make peace with this, uh, person," Bonnie suggested.

Freddy looked at Bonnie, and then Chica. He nodded, and looked at the doorway.

Amelia waited for a response.

"May we please talk?"

Amelia was even more confused.

"I knew you were in there! Come out now!"

"Please, let us explain!"

Freddy didn't know how to express their situation.

"We...we are, um..."

Amelia lifted her eyebrow.

"We have something to confess, even though we have no idea what's going on..."

"What do you mean?"

"Please promise us you will not be afraid," Chica's voice emerged.

Amelia grew worried. She didn't expect another voice.

"We need help, so please don't run off in fear," Bonnie's voice joined in.

"We will not hurt you," Foxy's voice concluded.

"We? What do you mean we???" Amelia asked.

"I will step out now," Freddy said. "Don't be scared of us. We mean you no harm. Do you agree?"

Amelia had to think of what was going on for a moment.

"Yes, just come out."

Freddy stood up slowly, and took a few steps towards the doorway. Bonnie and Chica soon stood up as well.

Amelia stared at the door way, wondering what could come out from the darkness.

Soon, the brown, furry hands of Freddy Fazbear emerged from the darkness and into the light. Then, his arms, then his body, then his face. Bonnie stepped out, and so did Chica.

Amelia was frozen. She could not believe her eyes. Standing in front of her were the what-used-to-be animatronic mascots of the restaurant. They were now...living.

"Please don't be scared," Freddy pleaded.

There was a long silence.

"Y...You...You're..."

The words could not come out of Amelia's mouth. She instead stepped towards the mascots.

Her hand lifted towards Freddy's face. She touched it. It was warm and soft. There was no doubt that it was flesh and fur.

"You're alive."

"You are all...alive?"

The room was silent. The mascots were afraid of what the guard was going to say next. Then, Foxy stepped out of the curtains as well. Amelia turned, now knowing that every single one of the animatronics were not robots anymore.

"I...don't know what to say. I'm dreaming, aren't I?"

Amelia stepped back and took a seat in the dining area, putting one hand on her forehead.

"Unfortunately, you're not dreaming," Chica said.

"I don't think she is," Foxy mumbled in the background.

"We don't know why we are like this, and we don't know how we got here," Freddy informed. "We need your help."

Amelia slowly looked up at the bear.

"My help???" She gave an awfully confused look.

"Well, uh, you look like you know a lot about this, y'know...place," Foxy reassured.

"No no no no no, I don't even know what I can do to help you."

"Please!" Bonnie exclaimed. "You don't know how scared we truly are! We're stuck as these mascots for a restaurant we don't even know! We all don't know what we have to do to fit in, or anything..."

Amelia, with a million things in her mind, started to change her mind about not helping the creatures in front of her.

"We would really appreciate your help," Chica said.

Amelia breathed in, and then out. She got up and looked around her to find a clock. It was 5:30.

"Okay. Come closer, everyone. I will explain what this place is, what you need to do, and what you should not do."

Freddy smiled.

"Go on," He said.

Am I really telling living animatronics what they need to do? Amelia thought.

"Your name is Freddy..."

Amelia pointed at each mascot as she mentioned their names.

"Bonnie..."

"Chica..."

"...and Foxy."

She turned back to Freddy.

"Freddy, since you are the head of the crew, your job is to sing, usually. You don't have to sing professionally, so just recite a simple song, like...um..."

Freddy lifted his eyebrow, waiting for an answer, but Amelia just fell silent.

"I don't know, but you think you can come up with something?"

"Let me think," Freddy said, putting his hand under his chin.

Amelia had very elaborate discussions with each mascot and their roles. But when she was done talking, she suddenly had a string of thoughts.

"Wait a minute..." she said as she laughed nervously.

"I am literally talking to the four mascots of this establishment..."

She grabbed Bonnie's shoulders and stared at his eyes. Bonnie raised his eyebrows and grew nervous.

"Like, how are you living right now??? How do you all have a conscious???"

"And you! And you! You as well! What is going on? How am I going to explain this to my boss??? I-I can't..."

She eventually let go of Bonnie in the middle of her rambling. Freddy looked down in disappointment, knowing he lacked an answer for every question Amelia had.

"Uhm...Miss, we don't know anything. I believe we already mentioned that," Freddy spoke up.

Amelia just stared at Freddy, trying to come up with conclusions in her head.

She looked at random places as she thought hard. How could she come up with an excuse to why literal robots are now living creatures? Is she going to keep her job? How is her boss going to take this?

Amelia suddenly took a step forward, passing the mascots. She decided to inspect every part of the building for clues.

Freddy and the others just looked at her, since they had nothing else to do.

"Freddy."

Freddy turned to Chica, who wore a frightened face.

"...I'm scared."

"Don't be," Freddy said, attempting to comfort her. "This woman might help us. It may not seem like it know, but maybe we'll convince her again."

Amelia went up to the stage to notice a buzzing sound. She then looked at the amp with a plugged-in guitar. She quickly went up to the amp and unplugged it from the electrical socket. She then grumbled.

"A guitar amp?! Who had the volume all the way up???"

Bonnie's ears just lowered, trying not to look guilty even though it was written all over his face.

Amelia moved the amp back into the storage room and went back to the stage.

"Do any of you know your age?"

Everyone thought, but eventually came up with no answer.

"Well, it seems like all of you are still pretty young. I'd say maybe teenage years, but who knows?"

Amelia then sighed.

"Okay, forgive me," She said, calming down. "I was overreacting a bit there. I mean, how do I keep calm when I'm in something like this?"

"What's your name?" Freddy asked.

Amelia went quiet. Did she really want to reveal her identity to creatures she has never met before?

Whatever.

"Amelia. My name is Amelia Thompson."

"Amelia..." Bonnie said quietly.

"That's a nice name," Foxy added, looking at Bonnie and then Amelia.

"Umm," Amelia interrupted, "how are you all going to preform today without raising any suspicions from any of the staff members? They'll freak out knowing that you all used to be lifeless robots!"

The building went silent.

"If I lied and said a new shipment of animatronics came in, nobody would believe me! If people still think you all are robots, your 'technology' would be more advanced than NASA! Oh man, I don't know what to do..."

"Should I call my boss...? No...he would freak out if I told him..."

Every mascot inspected Amelia as she panicked to herself. They did not say a word.

Amelia checked her phone for the time. It was now 6:00 in the morning.

"The morning staff will arrive at 7:30. We don't have much time."

Freddy thought long and hard, and then stood up.

"We will all replace those robots, then."

Amelia, as well as everyone else, looked at Freddy.

"No matter what happens to us, we will keep going. I mean, do we really have anything to lose?"

"I guess not," Bonnie replied.

"Yeah, he's right," Chica agreed.

"Seems about right," Foxy added.

"Okay, that's one step of the problem solved," Amelia said. "Now I just need to give my boss an explanation..."

"We'll help you out, Amelia," Bonnie suggested. "Maybe when your shift is over, we can talk to your boss."

"I don't know. We'll see about that, alright?"

Every mascot looked at each other and nodded.

Amelia picked up her keys and flashlight. She started to walk towards the door and turned around.

"You guys get ready in an hour and a half. When people start coming in, make sure you know what to do, alright?"

"We'll try," Chica said.

"Thank you so much!" Freddy smiled.

Amelia smiled back and walked outside the building. As she approached her car, she shook her head.

"What is going on...?"
