The Lost Daughter

MPD, Kasumigaseki...

Kurosawa Daisuke, on duty for the Missing Person's Office found himself flocked by a bunch of dirty people who clearly suffered injury warranting concerning levels and that was worrying, that he called for precinct's nurses to sort them out first before he hears them out with the higher-ups. Those injuries are abnormally vicious! Who in Japan, will commit those on people?! Even in Domestic Violence, bruises and hairline fractures are expected, but these guys have even slashes on their person! Did they encounter a band of slashers or something?! Kidnapped by a syndicate and are the only survivors?

After getting cleaned and treated, these thirteen people had an unbelievable tale...

Kidnapped to another world or time by what looks like ancient greeks and creatures.

Then rescued by a young girl who was in that place since she was in elementary school and adopted by her master who raised her to be a mage. She freed them but had no hope of going home as she wasn't even sure if its the same timeline or Japan she was taken from, so they want to know on her behalf about a missing child named Sawada Soren, the girl who saved them as she was there for eight years as a CHILD...and advised them not to go near Ginza within this month for their own good.

Warning from a fellow japanese with access to magic? They'd be idiots to ignore her warning...she must have done divination or something.

'...impossible for seven of us, we work IN Ginza! I'm almost afraid for my life!' cried an office lady fearfully. 'I nearly became a slave with everyone here and in ancient culture, there's only one type of slavery for women! What are we to do?!'

'We understand your situation, however far-fetched it sounds.' said the commissioner, just as baffled with their case. 'And we'll look if other stations have a record of Sawada Soren. Can you visit our Forensic Artist to describe her while we search records?'

'Where is that? Its not like civilians can walk willy-nilly around here without an escort!' said a younger male wryly.

The hardest part was the face. The rest is easy.

There's indeed, a record of Sawada Soren but it's in Chiba, Namimori Town. Eldest daughter to Sawada Iemitsu and Nana, but became a cold case as the girl could not be found...and that was fifteen years ago as opposed to her claims that she was in 'the other world' for eight years! Time indeed, did not synchronize!

Two years after Sawada Soren went missing, the couple tried again for a child. It's fraternal twins and Soren thus have thirteen year old siblings, unknown to her.

But still, Soren did NOT resemble her parents. Her father is a quarter-italian and 3/4 japanese and mother pure japanese. Their eldest daughter, is one hell of a beauty once their Forensic Artist got the deets down by fussy kidnap victims!

This, was a most baffling case and MPD Kasumigaseki talked about this case on a need-to-know basis only.

'We need solid proof that we do have otherworldly kidnappers even if our folk suffered for real there. Otherwise you guys will think we drank too much in a bar or something.' the Superintendent sighed as by the looks of others, yeah, they admit that alright. 'Everyone will want what we cannot give until given the chance.' he said dryly. 'All we can do, is wait out that ominous warning. That within this month, Ginza is not safe.' he said. 'I want everyone patrolling with concealed weaponry! Get creative and be in teams of six for this operation and posing as civilians. One team should at least have a licensed, well-equipped nurse with surgical goods as the natives are stab-happy slashers!'

Thus they waited...

And end of August?

All hell broke loose in Ginza as predicted.

When news of a mysterious structure appearing in the middle of the largest road in Ginza, the natives the victims described invaded through the Gate and began to indiscriminately kill or capture every civilians by terrorism they encountered. The police, alarmed by the reach chaos and murder, and literal DRAGONRIDERS flying through the sky are the very proof Kasumigaseki Precinct needed, as Superintendent Takebayashi ordered his armed teams to attack the invaders and rescue civilians while they phone the JSDF to really finish them off.

On the other side of Ginza near the Imperial palace, a JSDF Soldier on leave took control of the nearby precinct and demanded the guards to open up the Imperial Palace to lessen casualties because of the chaos while he too, phoned his superiors about the situation and called for reinforcements.

It became known as the Battle of Ginza.

The whole country was in shock.

They never dreamed that they would be attacked not by foreign countries, but a literal other world that linked their worlds together for an invasion!

The government was in chaos as they began talking about the Gate, while the JSDF guarded said Gate, armed to the teeth while sealing it off and closed roads leading to the Gate, thus detours were organized too.

The world beyond the Gate is dubbed by the soon-to-retire Minister Houjou as a Special Region, a part of Japan and even if they want it GONE, they can't as there are fears of it reappearing elsewhere in Japan. Better a controlled disaster than an unpredictable one.

Once reports are made, only then did Kasumigaseki MPD speak up.

'We finally got proof we need at the promised hour, we needed physical proof to back up our claims.' said Superintendent Takebayashi. 'These bastards kidnapped thirteen of our people around August 8. If not for a missing young girl, they'd be slaves by now. We have their phone numbers, and record of the girl in question.'

He had his men invite in the kidnapped people who gave their tale, and told them about the girl who saved them who long gave up on going home and went native.

'She was afraid that its not her Japan that she'll be here for nothing.'

'Well, time did NOT sync alright, she was declared a cold case two years after date of disappearance fifteen years ago...and her parents had children again, she has twin younger siblings and judging by OUR time, she should be chronologically 21 by our calendar, even if in the other world she's a middle schooler teenager as you described. Thus making her physically a year older than her siblings if we do a DNA Test on her.' said Takebayashi. 'Time there flows slower while its faster here until the link to our worlds happened again thus at present, Time will be in sync to match ours probably as long as the two worlds are linked. So Minister Houjou was right as this gate randomly happens. She was gone at age six on the way home from elementary ten minutes from her house years ago!'

The whole televised conference was in shock. So was the whole country. Well, people at home or watching through public televisions or night shift cafeterias, that is...

In Namimori, Sawada Residence...

Sawada Nana was in shock as the telly televised about the Gate...

Testimonies from the first victims of the other world...and then they began talking about HER daughter who was missing and given up for dead...only to learn she was on the other side all this time and gave up on going home!

She grabbed the satellite phone her husband gave her and frantically called his workplace while Reborn, the Tutor watched the news more to gain more information with sheer focus.

Iemitsu answered his phone.

'Yes? Nana?'

/Iemitsu! Watch the news in Japan now! Our daughter isn't dead! She's in the other side of the Gate all this time!/ his sobbing, but happy wife cried and Iemitsu was shocked with what his wife dropped on him. /Soren is alive!/

'WHAT?! I'll get on it!' Iemitsu sputtered as he used his computer to go to japanese websites for the news. He had long given up with a broken heart, only for fate to say otherwise to his joy. 'In the meantime, I'll arrange leave so I can go home and you arrange a meeting with the JSDF People! We're getting our daughter back!'

/Alright! Hurry up dear!/

Iemitsu had to watch the entire news for further proof, before hacking to download said video carefully...

Iron Fort, Timoteo's Office...

Timoteo and his guardians watched the footage...well, Iemitsu fast-forwarded it to relevant deets.

'I see...so Soren-chan is alive, but physically a young girl still closer to the age of your twins.' said Timoteo, happy for his distant nephew. 'This is good news for us even if she has gone native but we'll try to get her to go home with you. But how will you readjust her to our world? She missed out a lot. And Soran, your only son is my successor so your daughters are OK.'

Because there's a SON to continue the bloodline, Reborn is very strict on Soran and his twin for safety in their mafia training to prevent Mizora from being used as hostage against Soran.

'Yes. I had Nana phone the JSDF. I need to go to Japan as soon as possible so we can get our daughter together.' said Iemitsu hopefully.

'You'll go as soon as the JSDF allows it, so wait for Nana's word for now.' said Timoteo. 'Indeed, Japan will explore the other side. They would need to build a base first to truly claim the Gate from its creator. Once they have control, naturally, they'll explore as much as safely-possible, before allowing you and Nana-chan in. Its an enduring wait.' he said, much to Iemitsu's chagrin.

'There's that...this wait is painful!' he complained as he later sent an e-mail to Reborn.

He sent a reply, saying he'll monitor home.

'Sir,' a woman in fatigues approached her superior. 'We got a phone call from Sawada Nana about her daughter after she called her husband overseas, wishing to travel beyond the gate to retrieve their daughter. But as it is now, we haven't even set up base yet so that's not plausible...with an estimated time of three months, the base will be completed, but even then, is a pair of parents allowed to join our Special Region Forces?'

'...I'll have to talk about that to MY superiors even if we know what they'll say.' her superior griped. 'Allowing a pair of parents when not long ago thirteen of our own nearly became slaves...!' he said, shaking his head. 'They're not gonna allow this as everyone's safety first, and reparations from these invaders come second. Our Japan will come first. We ourselves will look for Sawada Soren as we are military folk licensed to be armed to the teeth, and a pair of civilians aren't allowed to own a gun unless passing a few tests. But even then its low caliber ones, they won't survive the other place.' he then turned to look out his window. 'We don't even know what's there, other than ancient greeks and freaking dragon, orcs, trolls, stuff straight out of RPG games...what about illnesses and poison from unknown flora, fauna AND monsters? We're not equipped for that level of shit yet so no, NOT allowed! Tell the missus we'll do the looking, even if I understand her feelings.'

'Yes sir.'

'And we'll select some of our PR to visit the family once Sawada Iemitsu arrives from the airport. Have airports watched.'

'...that's to be expected, Maman.' said Reborn to the gloomy housewife sympathetically as the family of three were silent, when Nana got the call. 'The danger is real, and Soren is a trained mage, thus she can survive the nasties of the other world. JSDF is not, thus will explore the hard way blind and face the unknown dangers of the other side. We'll have to leave it to them for now, while we wait for them to find Soren and bring her to the base, before we can try bargaining to go to her and bring her home.'

'But even then, she didn't even last past day one of Grade One. How will she re-adjust back to our world that clashes with all she's known? And her education there, is no doubt useless here.' he said. 'No school will accept her here thus she must home-tutor all the way to catch up before she can legally be IN school. And even then, that will take time. Does she even remember her parents? So many questions, but no answers.'

'Must you be so blunt?!' Mizora asked, annoyed, worried for her mother's emotional state that's a wreck from being disappointed after getting excited.

There was a family altar dedicated to their older sister who died at age six to eight as her case was given up after two years as she could not be found. Their parents, as long as they remember, pray to the altar without fail, before their dad returned to work when they were five years old. And since then, their mother no longer relies on the natural safety of their neighborhood and always takes them around until they were grown up enough in fear of losing more children.

'Honesty and transparency is crucial at times like this, as family members in trouble are no joke, that anyone who knows must be upfront about it.' said Reborn stiffly at her. 'And that is Soren's reality. It'll be hard for her to re-adjust back here if she learns her family is alive and years went by that may persuade her to go back home, not alternate reality Japan as she feared.' he sighed. 'We can only wait.'
