Natasha POV:
We just got done with breakfast when Peter had to go because he was meeting up with his two friends, MJ and Ned, MJ was his girlfriend and Ned was his best friend/star wars geek buddy.
I start clearing off the counter and then Tony comes over and holds me.
"What'd you think of Peter?" He asks softly.
"He's a great kid. Very smart and very kind. I can't believe he's Spider-Man, I wish I could just ground him so he isn't going and trying to protect Queen's on his own." I say worriedly.
"Don't worry, Nat. He has the best protection I could offer him, I've been meaning to give him his vibranium suit and then the suit he's wearing right now has its own AI, Karen, and if anything too dangerous is going on, Karen will alert me. He'll be fine, he has super strength and super fast healing, he can take care of himself." He says soothingly.
"Sorry, I just met the kid and I want to adopt him already!" I say laughing.
"That's the Peter effect for you!" He says laughing too.
"Have you ever thought about kids? I mean like us having one!" I ask nervously.
"Yeah, I'd have to think about it some more, I mean, my dad wasn't the best example, I know you'd do great." He says.
"You're nothing like your dad, Tony. You have a big heart and you care about everyone, heck, after the accords, you still got everyone pardoned. You'd be a great father." I say soothingly.
"Thanks, Nat. It's definitely something to talk about again seriously." He turns me around and grabs my hands. "And I wouldn't want to have any child with someone that's not you. You're amazing and smart, maybe our kid will gain my intelligence with tech, but I just hope the child comes out with your fiery hair, that would be cool."
"Yeah, that would, you'd realize our child would have lots of uncles and aunts right?" I ask laughing.
"Of course, knowing Rhodey, he'd spoil the child and knowing Clint, man I don't even know what to think about that. Clint just acts like a child sometimes, maybe he wouldn't be around the child." He says laughing.
"Come on, you act like a child sometimes!" I say and push him playfully.
"Well, I think we need to get on with our day if we plan on taking down the Red Room." He says and I nod. "What if we had all the Avengers on the mission though, Nat." I start to object but then he interrupts me. "I know that you want to do this on your own with your other family but the Avengers is your family too, I know you told me you plan on retiring after this but, wouldn't you want your whole family on your last mission, they'd want to help if they know what's going on.
And you and Clint started the destruction of the Red Room, don't you think he'd want to finish it with you. I mean this is the Red Room we're talking about, a bunch of highly dangerous mind-controlled assassins, Taskmaster, and it's in the sky. This seems like an Avenger level mission. Please consider this, I just don't want you getting hurt unnecessarily." I say.
"You're right, I'm sorry, I just don't want anyone else to be in danger. But you're right, they're my family too." I say and I hug him. He rubs my back soothingly.
"I'll go call an Avenger meeting then, we can meet in the conference room back at the compound in an hour if you'd like?" He asks softly.
"Yeah, let's do that." I say and he walks off to go schedule the meeting.
1 hour later.
We just arrive at the compound and head into the conference room where everybody is seated,
Tony starts to speak; "I've called you guys because we have a very dangerous mission ahead of us, if you guys accept, that is. I won't tell you the mission details, Natasha will because it is none of my business, but just understand, if we do this, we do this as a team and most importantly a family." He says and sits down.
"Thank you, Tony." I say and nod gratefully. "Now, I don't how much you guys know about my past except for Clint and Tony. When I was four, my mom abandoned me and I ended up in Dreykov's hands, he's the leader of everything. From the age of four they had me train endlessly. When I was nine, I was to go on my first mission. I was assigned to Alexi, Who was the first Red Rom super soldier, Melina, who was the brains of almost everything, and Yelena, who was only a child.
Yelena was 3 and I was 9, we were to pretend to be a family living in Ohio but Alexi was to steal the disc containing the information of a mind controlling chemical. We stayed in Ohio for 3 years until it was finished, Alexi and Melina returned to their work and me and Yelena were separated and returned back to the Red Room for our training.
After that, I was transferred to a class with 19 other girls. They were all older than me because I was the youngest widow to ever be taken. They usually take girls when they are 7-8 but I was taken at 4 because I was advanced.
Some of the girls were eliminated and some we killed during our sparring lessons because Madame B said they were too weak. After training was our graduation, fifteen girls from my class and other classes were put in a room, including me. Dreykov was there and said only one of us was going to make it, we were assigned to kill each other, our friends, our sisters. The weak ones died first, and then it was the girls who longed to live that were left, we fought until it was just me left, I killed most of them.
After graduation, they sterilize you, the operation was nearly done to me but one of the older widows, Petunia, pretended that it was already done, she told me, she was giving me a gift, she told me to escape one day and live a normal life, find someone you love and then start a family." I say and look at Tony with tears in my eyes, he also was tearing up. "After that, I was sent on mission after mission until I was being followed by Clint.
His orders form Fury were to kill me, I didn't make it easy but after a while I gave up and let him find me, he was about to finish the job but I didn't really mind, I was tired of the Red Room, but then he saw how done I was with everything and instead of killing me, he recruited me.
One of my final missions to prove myself trustworthy was to take down the Red Room, me and Clint blew up the building containing Dreykov and his daughter Antonia." I say, looking down ashamed. Tony grabs my hand and I go on.
"I honestly thought we finished there, Clint but we didn't." I say looking at Clint and his eyes go wide with disbelief.
"We blew up the whole building, Nat! How could he still be alive?" He asks unbelievably.
"We didn't check for the bodies cause we didn't think we needed to, everything was ash. I thought he was dead and the Red Room was dead until a few days ago on my wedding day.
Alexi, Melina, and Yelena had all reunited in hope they could take down the Red Room once and for all and they want me to help them.
Because I escaped, all the widows now are mind controlled, Dreykov controls them now from his office, his daughter Antonia survived and is now Taskmaster, she is also mind controlled and can mimic any move any of us do, it's like fighting yourself.
Tony has been working on the antidotes and I've been trying to come up with a plan. If this is successful, this will be my last mission, and then I will retire with Tony and start a family with him. But you guys are my family too, I've known some of you guys for a long time now, and I think it's only fair that you guys would be there for my last mission, it's fine if you guys reject but I have to finish what I started and I have to make sure no more little girls experience the same thing I went through.
It will be dangerous, the current headquarters is in the sky, if you accompany me, we can't kill any of the women or Taskmaster, we have to set them free from the chemical so that way they can make their own decisions and live how they choose too. That's all, I just want you to know, I love all of you guys and you guys, the Avengers, are my friends and most importantly my family, my sisters and my brothers." I say and I look at everyone with tears in my eyes, not one person has dry eyes in the room.
Steve looks at everyone and they all nod their heads.
"Of course we'll help you, Nat. You're like a little sister to us and to Wanda you're her mom. You mean everything to us, the team wouldn't be the same without you, we'd be honored to serve with you on your last mission." He says and I smile gratefully.
"Nice speech, Steve, but as your best friend, I will come and I will also come because we did that mission together and it's only fair if we finish it together." Clint says and I smile at him and then at Tony because he said the same thing.
"Thank you guys, this means a lot." I say gratefully.
"No need to say thanks, Nat, this is what families do, they help each other out." Rhodey says and hugs me. I always thought of him as an older brother, I hug him back and smile.
We all discuss what the best course of action would be and then we have a huge family dinner and settle in for the night watching TV. I fall asleep on Tony's shoulder, drifting off to the unknown.
