Summary: The clichéd damsel in distress tied to the train tracks, Lucy isn't having a good day.

Pairings: Natsu/Lucy, some Natsu/Happy/Lucy friendship, and some other general friendship feels.

Author's Note: Great news! Tales of Fairies is now officially being translated into Spanish. Many thanks to Naimena who is putting all the time and effort in translating this monster of a fic. The link is on my profile if anyone is interested.

Lucy knew this was going to be a bad day from the moment she woke up.

The first sign of this was the fact she woke up not in her nice, snug, warm bed, but tied to the cold, steel, railway.

Yes, she was tied to train tracks.

The second sign was that she was not dressed in her pyjamas but in her old, corseted, pink and white lace, ball gown that her father used to make her wear virtually every day and for some reason she still had not thrown it away.

Which of course meant that not only had she been abducted but some pervert had undressed her, probably did unspeakable perverted things to her, and then dressed her up.

And then thirdly, Lucy remembered that she had not been in bed before she had been asleep but sitting in the guild talking to Mirajane while enjoying a vanilla milkshake….so on top of being kidnapped and molested, Lucy had been drugged as well.

This really was not her day.

Lucy pulled against her restraints and found, much to her dismay, that her kidnapper had used a strong, thick, rope that chaffed against her soft skin and inflamed it with irritation. She was so going to have burn marks round her wrists and ankles for days after this.

"Ah," a sinister, dark, voice purred, "so glad to see you have finally joined us, Miss Heartfilla." A man stepped out into the sunlight. "I have been eager to entertain you for quite some time."

Her capturer was a tall, skinny, man dressed in a black suit, black cloak that was lined with red silk, while sporting a long, thin, top hat, and carried a walking cane. To top it all off the bad guy even had a twirly moustache…..no, Lucy was not kidding. It was a thin black one that curled at the edges like any stereotypical villain.

Lucy lifted her chin up defiantly as she glowered at the man. "What do you want?" she demanded to know.

The Villain's lips curled into a cold smile. "Merely see you squirm and scream while knowing it is futile to try and escape," he said pleasantly.

Lucy huffed at that. "Listen you arsehole," she growled furiously. "You'll never get away with this. I am a Fairy Tail mage, I will find a way out of here and you will regret ever trying to-"

She was cut off by a cold, cruel, laugh. "Oh you will never escape," her kidnapper smirked, "after all you are firmly tied down and believe me those knots are not easy to wriggle out of," Lucy squirmed against her restraints and hated to admit they were extremely tight and uncomfortable to try getting a wrist out off, and the ones at her feet? Forget it. She couldn't even wiggle her big toe, let alone Lucy Kick her way out of this one. "And even if you were to free but one hand, who will you summon to help?" at this point he held out her keys.

"You monster!" Lucy gasped horrified. "Give my friends back to me!"

"I think not," her kidnapper said dryly as he placed them back firmly in his pocket, "it would rather beat the objective."

"My friends will notice I am missing," Lucy said confidently, changing tactics, "They will come after you."

"Oh I hope so," the Villain clapped his hand delightedly, "I have been most looking forwards to meeting Salamander."

Lucy's heart skipped a beat and her eyes widened in horror.

This was all some sort of trap for Natsu! It had to be! And knowing that adorable moron, he would waltz right into and God knows what will happen. Lucy tugged at the ropes wrapped her wrist, determined to loosen them so she can get out and safe Natsu from whatever this creep had planned for the pair of them.

There was a loud hooting noise and Lucy suddenly turned to look at her left when she saw the most horrific thing barrelling towards her.

The train!

And she was tied to the train tacks!

Oh dear God!

With more fervour than before Lucy struggled against her restraints, wriggling from side to side, as she tried to make the ropes shift just a little bit, just so she could get one limb out, Damnit!

"It is useless my dear," her kidnapper purred, "You must accept your fate to be Lucy Heartfilla jam beneath the wheels of that oncoming train."

"No," Lucy shook her head as she shut her eyes against the oncoming train "no, I won't," she snarled furiously, , "I refuse to!" she pushed against the ropes, her back arched against the wood and steel that made the train tack, and forced her entire strength to make the rope snap….she failed and flopped helplessly against the tracks. "Natsu!" she sobbed. "Help!"

"Yes, that's it," her kidnapper smirked sadistically. "Scream for Salamander."

Lucy took a deep breath. "NATSU!" she screamed. "NATSU! HELP ME!"

There was silence, well apart from the train, which was still honking and clattering along the rails as it go closer and closer. Lucy whimpered and closed her eyes one last time, mentally preparing for her disgustingly dramatic death….

"LUCY!" Natsu's voice bellowed. Lucy's eyes opened again and couldn't help but gasp delightfully at the sight of Happy flying Natsu beside the train. A fierce look could be seen on both of her boys' faces. LUCY I'M COMING FOR YOU!" Natsu yelled, "STAY EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE!"

Lucy bashed her head against the metal of the train track at that. "OH GEE!" she shouted sarcastically as she rolled her eyes. "WHERE ELSE AM I GOING TO GO?!" she shrieked furiously. "NATSU, YOU MORON!"

"There's no need to be so rude, Lucy," Happy sniffed as he dropped Natsu onto the rails, Natsu immediately crouched over Lucy, and if it wasn't for the fact their untimely death was still barrelling towards them, Lucy would have blushed at how close his lips were to hers, and the feel of his warm breath dancing on her cheek as he burned through the thick rope. "Natsu is, after all," Happy continued loftily, "risking his life to save yours before the train turns you into roadkill."

Natsu paused from burning the rope. "T-T-Train?" he stuttered as he turned a faint green and his cheeks bloated outwards.

Lucy grimaced as she recognised that look anywhere. "Oi! Focus on the task at hand!" she snapped. "Rescue me first and then feel sick!"

"A-A-Aye!"

Natsu freed Lucy's hands and immediately scrambled down her body (Lucy tried not to scream or blush, or get very cross and do a Lucy Kick, when Natsu's face dragged across her breasts, stomach, and….other private parts) to do her ankles, the train was extremely close now. Lucy could see it's great big black face, and the red paint job on the little bits underneath, and the smoke was beginning to surround her as it got closer and closer, and then -

The train swept past them without even touching them as Lucy was safe and sound in Natsu's arms where he stood just on the dry, barren, ground that surrounded the railway. Happy's wings, as the blue cat had gripped Natsu's back tightly and flew them both to safety, gave Natsu the uncharacteristic appearance of an angel.

Lucy allowed herself to blush slightly as she realised that Natsu was carrying her like a princess or a bride for once instead of over his shoulder like a sack. Her arms were tightly wrapped round his neck and she gave into the temptation of stroking the stray lock of hair that met his scarf.

"Natsu, you saved me," she said, perhaps a little too adoringly for her own liking, "Thank you"

Natsu gave her one of his small, crooked, smiles that flashed a bit of fang. "You're welcome!" he chirped cheerfully. "Now get off," he said flatly, "you're heavier than you look." And with that he immediately dropped her onto the ground (her squawk of indignation ignored completely and she was left to tend to her own injured pride and buttocks). "Urgh," Natsu groaned as he collapsed onto his hands and knees. "Trains, I'm going to be sick."

"There, there, Natsu," Happy said soothingly as he rubbed Natsu's back, "it's all over now."

"No! No! No!" the bad guy shouted as he stomped his foot repeatedly like a little child being denied a sweet. "That's not what's supposed to happen!" he yelled furiously. "You're supposed to kiss each other wildly and passionately, Damnit!" he tore of his top hat to reveal as cascade of white locks and immediately began stomping her hat into the dust. "That's what happens in all of the books!"

"Mirajane?!"

Mirajane paused in her tantrum to look at a horrified Lucy, dumbstruck Natsu, and very confused Happy.

"You were the one that kidnapped Lucy?" Happy asked bewilderedly. "But why?"

"Because I wanted to see Natsu swoop in and rescue Lucy like a proper knight in shining armour to her damsel in distress before they then met in a passionate, romantic, embrace of true love!" Mira cooed. Everyone sweat-dropped at that as both Natsu and Lucy turned bright red at all the implications. "But Natsu had to ruin it because he's such a boy!" she huffed. "You couldn't give Lucy one kiss for me, could you?"

"You put my life in danger for one of your matchmaking schemes?!" Lucy shrieked. "Mira I am utterly disgusted with you. I could have been killed! How could you?!"

"Oh please," Mira said dismissively, "you were never in danger. The train isn't even real, Reedus painted it."

It was then when Lucy realised that Reedus had been sitting behind her with his canvas. "Bonjour!" he waved.

"Why?!"

"Mira paid me," Reedus shrugged, "and my rent was due."

The worst thing about this is that Lucy couldn't even argue against that. Everyone knew she would do anything short of murdering Natsu to make her rent payments.

And with that everyone but Reedus went home in a bad mood. Mira was extremely disappointed that her scheme didn't work and now Lucy was refusing to talk to her. Lucy was cross that Mira put her in this ridiculous scenario, and that her wrists and ankles were really sore, and she was extremely frustrated with Natsu for making that comment on her weight and just dumping her on the floor. While Natsu was depressed and sick when it turned out to get home from the desert they had to get another effing train.

And Happy was sulking because he did all the work to help rescue Lucy and no one bothered to thank him!

Where was his thank you and melodramatic kiss and Mira getting all huffy because Happy didn't get his gratitude?

Hell, Happy would have been happy with just a fish.

(Actually he would have been happier with the fish, kissing was weird and disgusting and gross…)
