Summary: inspired by the 3rd Rock from the Sun. Natsu once again takes a saying literally…only this time it's deliberate.

"…..and even though she now loses her own clothes in virtually every battle," Gray's voice could be heard whinging, Lucy had literally just stepped into the guild and had been making a beeline towards him and Natsu, who were both at the bar, with great hopes of roping them in for a job to get more rent money when she heard him start talking about her. She stopped behind them and listened in, unimpressed. "Lucy still insists I must be fully dressed before I can come inside her apartment, and that I must say fully dressed, and leave fully dressed. It's so weird!"
"You're just a perverted stripper," Natsu said rudely, "but Lucy is weird," he admitted.
"Ah," Lucy drawled, pleased to see that both boys stiffened in horror at the sound of her voice (she may never terrify them like Erza does but it was satisfying to know she can put some fear in them), "I thought my ears are burning!"
The minute Lucy said it she immediately regretted it. After all, Natsu was known to take some things literally and this old phrase that she learn from reading was probably never heard by Natsu. Fiore always favoured the sneezing one when it came to people talking about you behind your back.
Proving her instinct of regret right, Natsu's eyes lit up with wonder. "They are?!" he cried out excitedly as he squinted at her ears. A smirk danced on his lips and there was a gleam in his eyes that unsettled Lucy a little. "Let me put them out," he said almost huskily.
Everyone, including Lucy, winced as they waited for Natsu to suddenly throw a glass of water over Lucy's heard, or worse, ask Juvia to put out the fire on Lucy's ears which undoubtedly Juvia would view as an open invitation to drown her Love Rival….no one expected Natsu's next move.
Lucy squeaked as she felt Natsu pull the lobe of her ear between his teeth and suck on it. "N-N-Natsu!" she stammered as her cheeks burned with embarrassment. "What are you doing?!"
"What do you think?" Natsu whispered hotly in her ear sending a shiver down her spine. He then licked upwards to the shell of her ear and blew into. "I'm putting the fire out on your ears."
"Guh!" Lucy moaned. "Are you sure?" she fanned herself with a hand." It seems to be getting hotter in here."
"I'm sure," Lucy flinched in surprise as she felt a kiss on the nape of her neck, and sighed happily as Natsu lovingly pushed her hair back from her other ear, "now let me put out the fire on the other ear."
Lucy groaned blissfully as Natsu then began to nibble on her other ear.
"Oh God, do you have to do that here?!" Gray said disgustedly, "Do us all a favour and get a room."
