Day 23- Hospital Visit AU: Sabine (+ Ezra)

Sabine sat nervously in the chair of the waiting room. Around her, mothers were coming in with their children. The receptionists talked slowly with each of the clients. In the play areas, children were messing around.

The best thing to do would just go up to the receptionist and ask her question, but for some reason nerves were wracking Sabine's body. In all her life, nerves had rarely bothered her. But in this moment, it was one of two things on her mind.

Another woman came in and walked right up to the desk.

With a deep breath, Sabine stood up and fell in line behind the woman. In her head, she rehearsed the words. Over and over again, one after the other.

The woman walked away.

Sabine stepped forward.

"How may I help you?" the receptionist asked.

"I'm here to see Ezra Bridger," Sabine said slowly.

The lady nodded. "Okay. Any family relation?"

"No, I'm not related."

"Understood," the lady said. "I'll call up and see if your visit can be approved."

"Thank you," Sabine said.

She took a step back as the receptionist made the call.

Her mind raced, the possibilities of what to say to the man -the boy?- she almost ran over on her motorcycle. A proper introduction would be in order. He'd probably appreciate that. No doubt an explanation as to why she was there.

The explanation wasn't complex at all. Anytime she thought about it, guilt filled her, a very uncomfortable feeling, and not something she was used to. A visit seemed an appropriate way to make up for the accident. Especially after finding out he had no living relatives.

The receptionist hung up the phone and turned her attention to Sabine.

"You may wait here for someone to come get you," she smiled.

Sabine nodded and with a deep breath took her seat again.

She hated waiting.
