In the next chapter, Eggman's Robots will replace the Koopa Troops.
Chapter 3: Angel Island Rumble
In a jungle in Angel Island, a truck was seen driving away. An Egg Robo and a Motobug were seen stealing a giant green emerald. Inside the jungle, a white boxing glove punches a Motobug out of the tree and fell off the cliff. The shadowy figure is knocking out some Egg Pawns and jumps out of the trees and onto the cliffside. The figure is a red echidna with cream-colored cheeks, wearing white boxing gloves, and red and yellow shoes. He is Knuckles the Echidna. He saw the Egg Robo and Motobug in the distance.
Knuckles: No one steals my Master Emerald and gets away with it!
The Motobug went on the back of the truck and it fires three Buzzbombers at Knuckles. Someone appears above Knuckles. It was a yellow fox with white cheeks and tummy, two tails with white tips, wearing white gloves, and red and white shoes. He is Miles "Tails" Prower. He uses his arm cannon to fire two Plasma Balls at two Buzzbombers, destroying them. The last Buzzbomber is heading towards them, but Tails fires the last Plasma Ball at the robot, knocking it out. He lands next to Knuckles. The last Buzzbomber fell behind them and explodes.
Tails: I'm ready to help you, Knuckles.
Knuckles: Good.
They pointed to the wagon.
Knuckles: After them!
They leapt after the truck. Along the way, they fought more robots like the Motobugs, Egg Pawns, and Flappers. The Egg Pawns fired their bazookas and machine guns at Knuckles and Tails, while the Flappers fired energy bullets, but Knuckles and Tails dodged their attacks. Knuckles uses Knuckles Punch to punch the Motobugs and Egg Pawns, while Tails uses Tails Swipe to slash the Flappers with his tails. They took out the enemies and proceed to the next area, where they came across a floating barrel by a cliff.
Knuckles: Why is that barrel floating in the air?
Tails: Look at where the barrel might lead us to.
Tails points to a series of barrels floating over a valley.
Knuckles: So if we jump into that barrel, it'll launch us to those other barrels.
They jumped into the barrel and it fires them through a series of barrels over the valley until they reached the other side. There, they encountered more Motobugs, Egg Pawns, and Flappers, as well as some Trackballs on lines. Knuckles and Tails hits the Trackballs and they knocked out the enemies. They then proceed to the next area, where they hit another Trackball to break a breakable wall. Suddenly, they got ambushed by more Motobugs, Egg Robos, and Buzzbombers. The Egg Robos fired their laser guns at Knuckles and Tails, while the Buzzbombers fired energy bullets from their stingers, but Knuckles and Tails dodged their attacks. Knuckles uses Rock Freefall to throw boulders at the Motobugs and Egg Robos, while Tails fires Plasma Balls at the Buzzbombers. After taking out all the enemies, they proceed to the next area, which is a floating platform inside a giant pit cave.
Tails: Whoa! Where are we?
Knuckles: I believe we're on some platform in a cave.
As the platform moves upward to the end of the cave, some more Motobugs, Egg Robos, and Buzzbombers attacked. Tails uses the Rapid Tails Attack to rapidly spin his tails around the Motobugs and Egg Robos, while Knuckles uses Knuckles Punch on the Buzzbombers. After taking out the enemies, the platform reaches the end of the tunnel, where there is a door. Knuckles and Tails went through the door and it takes them to a waterfall with a cave under it.
Tails: Are we really going down that waterfall?
Knuckles: If we wanna get back the Master Emerald, then yes.
They jumped down the cave, dodging some Dark Wisp Heartless, until they landed on the ground, where they got attacked by more Motobugs and some Gold Kamerons. The Gold Kamerons fired laser waves at Knuckles and Tails, but they easily dodged their attacks. Knuckles uses Maximum Heat Knuckles Attack to charge up his body with red energy and fly all over the stage, destroying all the enemies. Knuckles and Tails proceeds to the next area and found the Master Emerald.
Knuckles: We found the Master Emerald!
Tails: Hold on! I believe this is a bait for a trap.
?: Correct, my fox friend.
Knuckles and Tails turns around and gasps. They saw a man with a long orange moustache, a round body, skinny arms and legs, wearing sunglasses, goggles, a red coat with six golden buttons, white gloves, and black pants. He is piloting a red walker machine with a Vulcan Cannon and Laser Cannon.
Knuckles & Tails: DR. EGGMAN!
Eggman: So you pests had made it this far.
Tails steps in front of Knuckles
Tails: Eggman, you won't get away with this!
Eggman: Oh I think I will.
He pulls out the same cannon Dracula used: The Dark Cannon.
Eggman: This gun will turn you both into trophies!
He starts charging up his cannon.
Knuckles: This isn't gonna turn up well! Tails, forgive me.
He charges up his fist and uses Deep Impact to deliver a powerful flaming punch to send Tails flying into the air. Eggman fires the cannon and the arrow hits Knuckles. Tails gasps as he watches Knuckles get turned into a trophy.
Tails: NOOOOO! KNUCKLES!
He was sent flying to the other side of Angel Island. Meanwhile, Sonic and Sora has climbed down the Sea of Clouds and made their way to the plains. Sonic saw some footprints on the path.
Sonic: Those footprints belong to Megaman and Amy. They must not be too far away.
Suddenly, Sora saw something in the distance.
Sora: Wait! I think I saw Shadow in the distance.
Sonic looks at where Sora is pointing at and saw Shadow on the hovercraft.
Sonic: Well, what do you know. We finally found him. Now let's hurry up and get him!
Sonic and Sora made their way through the plains, chasing Shadow. Along the way, they encountered more Shadow Heartless, Air Soldiers, trumpet-like Heartless called Crescendos, and huge round Soldier Heartless called Large Bodies. The Crescendos made loud noises with their trumpets, doing some damage to Sonic and Sora. The Large Bodies tried to body slam Sonic and Sora, but they dodged their attacks. Sora uses Thundaga to summon lightning to zap the Shadow Heartless and Air Soldiers, while Sonic uses Spin Dash on the Crescendos and Large Bodies. They took out the Heartless and proceed to the ruins, where a wall rose up from the floor and starts moving.
Sora: That wall is moving! Let's make a run for it!
Sonic and Sora ran away from the moving wall, dodging some Dark Wisps, jumping over pits, and attacking some White Mushrooms along the way. They made their way to the end of the hallway and jump down the pit, which leads them to another hallway with more Shadow and Soldier Heartless. Sora uses Strike Raid to throw his Keyblade at the Heartless like a boomerang, taking them out. Sonic and Sora made it out of the ruins, where they found a giant floating platform with three smaller platforms.
Sonic: I wonder where that platform will take us.
Sora: Let's get on it and find out.
They got on the platform and it starts moving. Suddenly, they got attacked by Shadow Heartless and Surveillance Robots. Sonic uses Homing Attack on the Surveillance Robots, while Sora slashes the Shadow Heartless. After the Shadow Heartless and Surveillance Robots were taken out, some knight-like Heartless with fire swords called Heat Sabers appeared. The Heat Sabers slashed at Sonic and Sora with their flaming swords, but they dodged their attacks. Sora uses Blizzaga to shoot ice balls at the Heat Sabers, freezing them. After the Heat Sabers were taken out, some Soldier Heartless, Heat Sabers, Crescendos, and Yellow Operas appeared. Sora uses Sonic Blade to take out all the enemies. When the platform reaches another cliff, some more Surveillance Robots, Crescendos, and Heat Sabers appeared.
Sora: How many more Heartless are there?
Sonic: Let's just take them out and we can proceed.
Sonic uses Lightspeed Attack to take out all the Heartless. Sonic and Sora then proceeds forward. Meanwhile, Shadow was hovering towards the castle area in the far distance with another Subspace Bomb below him. He looks upset.
Shadow: I'm sorry for hurting all the innocent people, but-
?: SHADOW!
He turns to see Sonic jumping up, about to stop him.
Sonic: No you don't! You're not getting away this time!
But he missed. Sora jumps on his head and tried to reach the bomb himself, but he missed too. Sonic fell on his face and Sora lands on his feet as Shadow flew away.
Sora: Darn! He's getting away still!
Sonic got up.
Sonic: I think we should find Megaman and Amy first. I'm worried about them.
Sonic and Megaman continues their search for Megaman and Amy.
