YouTube Prompt: I'll say it again…..Natsu/Lucy video to 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' by Bonnie Tyler.

For the twelfth time this week everyone watched with morbid fascination as Natsu and Lucy clashed heads once again. They have bickered in the past before, but that had always ended with laughter and smiles and Lucy reluctantly giving into Natsu's wild scheme or childishness, or Natsu grudgingly admitting Lucy is right and then going out his way to make it up to her…..this wasn't like before.

Since their year apart Lucy has been sharper and bitter to Natsu. Not always, mind, she was still Lucy but every so often something nasty reared its head when Natsu said something or did something particularly upsetting. Natsu was increasingly fed up and his temper began to flare up which started to cause arguments and an icy atmosphere as they ignored or glared at one another.

This particular one was started when Natsu said something innocently about sticking together, for a job that Lucy didn't want to do, which led to Lucy uttering something so bitter that everyone in the guild had frozen, slowly turned round, and now they had been watching Natsu and Lucy argue for the last twenty minutes.

"FINE!" Lucy exploded. "IF THAT'S HOW YOU FEEL THEN I'LL JUST LEAVE!"

And with that she stormed out of the guild building paused at the doorway to shoot Natsu a particularly nasty glare, and then really made her point by slamming the door shut so loudly that everyone flinched.

Natsu's jaw had dropped wide open. "What…?" he squeaked. "I….You….she….URGH!" he screamed as he tugged at his hair. "That impossible woman! I can't deal with this!"

And then he stormed out too….leaving a horrible burning smell that suggested exactly how furious he was right now.

"I'm really worried about Natsu and Lucy," Lisanna said eventually, "they've never used to argue like this before."

"It's really upsetting," Happy mumbled, "they've begun to do it all the time now."

"It's not like Lu-Chan," Levy nibbled her lip worriedly, "she's usually so nice."

"I think me and Natsu leaving really hut her," Happy said, "but no matter how many times we say sorry and how many times Natsu tries to make it up to her, she won't let it go."

"Which is really weird," Gray butted in, "because we," he indicated to the whole room, "all left too and she hasn't held anything against us."

"You would think Love Rival would be very upset about that," Juvia agreed, "especially since Juvia and Gray-sama eloped."

Gray choked on his drink. "WE DIDN'T ELOPE!" He bellowed. "I went to train and you chose to follow me and we lived together," he said hastily, "there was no wedding or anything!"

"Juvia knows that," Juvia smiled, "but at the time no one else would have known that."

"I….you…..urgh," Gray collapsed against the bar, "whatever," he mumbled against the wood.

"I think," Mira said loudly, "that the reason Lucy is holding it against Natsu so much and not all of us is because she's in love with Natsu."

Everyone groaned at that.

"Nee-san," Elfman said carefully, "not everything is about romance."

Mira stiffened. "Are you saying I'm wrong, Elfman?" she asked in a dangerous voice as her eyes flashed with anger.

"N-n-no!" Elfman stuttered. "You're right, always right, Nee-san, it's got to be about romance," he babbled nervously, "ignore me I was being unmanly!" he wailed.

"Actually I think Mira has a point," Erza said, "Lucy and Natsu are very close that it wouldn't surprise me if Lucy harboured some romantic feelings for Natsu, and speaking from experience, when the guy you like betrays you, you tend to hold a grudge for years."

"Yes but Jellal harmed you and literally threw you away before making a load of lies about you to your friends," Gray pointed out with an eye roll, "not the same as leaving for a year to train. Besides didn't you forgive Jellal?"

"I began forgive Jellal after he sacrificed himself to save me and then I definitely forgave him when he showed he was truly repentant for all his misdeeds during the Nirvana incident," Erza said primly. She then suddenly shot a terrifying glower in Gray's direction that made Gray jump back into Juvia fearfully. "And I hope you're not saying that one maiden's pain is inferior to another. A broken heart is a broken heart regardless of the action that caused it to break."

"Well regardless of the cause I think we should fix it," Mira jumped in before Erza made Gray wet himself or worse. She clapped her hands delightedly. "I have an idea that will not only end the cold tension between Natsu and Lucy but get them together for once and for all."

Everyone groaned…..again.

"For the last time, babe," Laxus grunted from the corner, "we ain't locking them in a closet drugged up on a love potion."

"No, not that," Mira snorted dismissively, "I'd like to think I have more class and finesse than that." She held up a book that she had been keeping under the bar for her to read during quiet moments (which is why it had taken nine years to read. It was rarely ever quiet in Fairy Tail). It was slim novel containing one of the funniest, romantic, comedies she had ever read and, more importantly, it was a matchmaker story. "This plan takes little effort from us whatsoever. Natsu and Lucy will be doing all the work."

An evil, mischievous, gleam appeared in everyone's eyes at that.

"….We're listening."

After destroying a portion of the forest to vent out his anger about Lucy being an absolutely ridiculous person again, Natsu collapsed against the tree and closed his eyes as he felt the last remaining branches burn beside him.

He was so exhausted all of a sudden now his anger and irritation had drained away. Seriously? What was Lucy's problem? He hadn't been the only one to leave and yet all her hate and bitterness and anger seemed directed only towards him. He was so tired of it all…

CRUNCH!

His eyes shot open as he heard footsteps not so far. His heart leaped hopefully as he took in a great big whiff and then immediately his stomach sank with disappointment…..it was just the guys.

He jumped up and climbed into the tree.

He really didn't want to deal with Gray mocking him.

"Is it safe here?" he heard Freed ask. "We don't want anyone to overhear this."

"It's safe," Laxus grunted, "none of the girls will come out here to eavesdrop, not even Mira, they're all distracted at the guild."

"What about Natsu?" Gray pipped up. "He's around here, isn't he?"

Both Laxus and Gajeel took great big sniffs and Natsu stiffened as he waited and waited and waited for them to call him out….but they didn't.

"Nah," Gajeel shook his head, "Salamander ain't here."

Natsu smirked against the bark of the branch and tried to smother a cackle of smug delight that Gajeel and Laxus were so crap at smelling things. He so couldn't wait to rub that in their faces that he was the best and they were lousy. He was the best, he was the best, he was the best –

(Unseen by Natsu, Gajeel and Laxus smirked and lifted a thumbs up for the other boys while pointing up at the tree subtly. Natsu was here and perfectly positioned for eavesdropping, their plan can start.)

"Good," Gray said loudly, "because I wanted to talk about Lucy without that moron putting his foot in it."

Natsu froze from his celebratory wiggle (as he couldn't do a dance) and his 'he was the best' chant died instantly in his mind as he scooted closer to listen to the icy idiot. What were they going to say about Lucy?

"I know," Bickslow moaned, "how could Natsu be such a fucking idiot?"

Natsu almost fell out of tree at that. He luckily gripped his nails into the bark in time and scrambled his way back onto the branch before it was too late. He was the fucking idiot? Him?! He wasn't the one causing all the arguments! That was Lucy!

"I mean," Bickslow continued moaning, "it's so fricking obvious that Asuka, a little girl, has it figured out already."

"Well in all fairness," Alzack said lightly, "my little girl is the most intelligent child in the world!"

"Must have gotten it from her mother," Warren teased.

"You bet she did," Alzack grinned.

"Asuka's intelligence aside," Gray drawled, "it shouldn't be surprising that she has gotten it before Natsu because Natsu is so stupid I'm surprised he can get dressed in the morning."

Natsu fumed at that and swore bloody vengeance on Gray the moment he could confront the naked pervert without letting everyone know he was listening in on their conversation. He'll show Gray who's too stupid to get dressed in the morning. After all, Natsu wasn't the one that was currently naked.

"I can't help but feel you have no right to talk about Natsu being incapable of dressing while you're currently naked yourself," Freed said primly, "either pick another example or find your clothes."

"What….oh crap!"

Natsu snickered as Gray fumbled round trying to find his clothes. "Gray is right though," Elfman spoke up, "Natsu is being incredibly unmanly towards Lucy. He should MAN UP and get a clue. It's so painfully obvious and it is UNMANLY to leave Lucy to wallow in her pain."

What was so fucking obvious?! Natsu internally screamed as he leaned in closer from his branch. What was he doing to make Lucy wallow in pain? Why couldn't these arseholes just SAY IT instead of teasing him with the knowledge?!

"I agree," Romeo shook his head disappointedly, "I don't know how Natsu-nii hasn't noticed that Lucy-nee is in love with him."

Natsu fell out of the tree at that.

Lucy? Lucy was in love with him? Lucy Heartfilla, the most beautiful, weirdest, nicest, meanest, infuriating person was in love with him, Natsu Dragneel? She sure didn't act like it!

"What was that?"

Natsu then belated realised that he had fallen out of the tree and quickly dived under a bush. He cringed at the rustling sounds he had made as well as the branches prickling his skin, he was bound to be caught by now.

"Nothing," Laxus dismissed, "probably just a squirrel or something."

Natsu choked on his laughter. Man, these people were so stupid to come to that conclusion, and they called Natsu the idiot.

(Unknown to Natsu nearly all the boys had covered their mouths with their hands as they desperately tried to not laugh. They had all seen Natsu fall out of the tree and if that hadn't been hilarious enough, watching him dive into a bush, face first, with his bum sticking out in their air, almost killed them. This was probably the most entertaining afternoon in their lives for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.)

"So it's definitely love then?" Macao said, "Not childish infatuation."

"Lucy told Levy-Chan, and you know how close they are," Droy spoke up very loudly, "that Lucy would die of love for Natsu."

"Yeah!" Jet agreed. "Levy-Chan said that Lucy told her that she was in utter agony with longing for Natsu."

(Several people raised their eyebrows at this. "Laying it on a bit thick, aren't you?" Gray whispered as quietly as possible to avoid being heard by Natsu.

Jet shrugged. "It was in the script Mira gave us," he explained just as quietly.)

Natsu gawked at the boys between the leaves of the bush at that. Lucy would die of love for him? She was in agony with longing for him? He couldn't believe it. He didn't want it to be true. Lucy shouldn't die or be in pain for him, she should live and be happy, no matter what.

"That ungrateful sod," Macao tutted, "here's a gorgeous girl all in love with him, and what does he do? Leave her behind for training. No wonder she's pissed at him."

Natsu inhaled sharply. That was why Lucy was so pissed at him? Because she loved him and he hurt her by leaving?

"Broke Bunny Girl's heart," Gajeel confirmed, "It's painful to watch. Just wish she would bloody say something."

"Oh, she wouldn't dare!" Happy exclaimed. "I overheard her telling Erza and Wendy that she's so scared that Natsu would laugh at her, and you know what?" he added sadly. "Natsu would. He'd think it was some big joke."

What?! Even Happy was against him and if Happy was against him….then….it was….true. She was in love with him and she did think he'd be so mean to laugh at her. It really hurt that she would think that. Why did she think that? She was his most important person, joint with Happy that was, and he thought the world of her. He would do anything for her! He –

Oh.

He was in love with her.

Natsu fell back against the ground with a light thud as he realised exactly how he felt, how Lucy felt, and how horrible their arguments had been recently.

Fuck.

How was he ever going to fix this?

(Meanwhile the boys all shared smug grins as they heard Natsu collapse, probably out of shock as he tried to process the information they just dumped on him, and then all began to give each other celebratory high fives (apart from Gajeel and Laxus because they were too cool for that shit). Step one in Mira's evil plan was now complete. Now it was up to the girls and undoubtedly they'll complete their part to perfection.)

Lucy spent the last couple hours fuming in her bedroom. She had attempt to think of anything but Natsu while she tried to write a new story but infuriatingly her protagonist instantly turned into a pink-haired, loud mouth, that got motion sickness and she promptly gave up as she screwed her story up into a ball and chucked into a bin.

Why was it so hard?

Why couldn't she let it go as easily as she did with everyone else? Why did she have to open her mouth and make things worse? Why couldn't she and Natsu be out having adventures like she had desperately wanted to do in the last year? Damnit! She hated herself, Natsu, and the whole world. She was just so cross, all the time, unrelentingly, even in her sleep.

As it became apparent that Lucy wasn't going to get much done sulking in her bedroom, she decided to venture back into the guild building, and hopefully find someone to distract her, or better yet a simple job where she can get some rent money in.

She blinked in surprise when she walked into the guild building and found it empty. Where did everyone go….?

"I can't believe Lucy sometimes!" Lisanna spat out furiously. "Honestly! Who does she think she is to treat Natsu like that?"

Lucy's eyes widened as she let out an indignant and surprised gasp. It was so unlike Lisanna to be so mean which meant Lucy must have crossed a line but simultaneously Lucy was irritated that people think they could question her like that.

Lisanna jerked her head in surprise and immediately Lucy threw herself onto the floor so she couldn't be seen. She didn't want to make things awkward when Lisanna realised she accidentally overheard her talking about her like that.

(Lisanna flushed, embarrassed that she had to basically bitch about Lucy like this, while Wendy covered her mouth to stop a laugh escaping as she watched Lucy comically throw herself against the floor. She wasn't the only one, several girls including Charle had bit the inside of their cheeks to stop themselves from laughing, and Cana had buried her face into Kinana's neck so she could laugh freely.)

"Now, now, Lisanna," Erza chided gently, "it's not entirely Lucy's fault. She's just too upset that she can't see she's hurting Natsu too."

Lucy's eyes widened even more at that. She had been hurting Natsu? She sort of guessed she had been, and she suppose that had been her aim, to make him feel her pain, but she didn't really realise she had actually been hurting Natsu. It made her chest twinge in pain for him.

"Hmmph!" Lisanna crossed her arms and pouted slightly. "Still, she could be nicer to him. It's so heart breaking to watch them go through this."

"I know Lisanna," Mira wrapped a comforting arm round her sister, "but you shouldn't despair. True Love conquers all and I know that Natsu and Lucy's love will guide them through this rocky patch to a happy ending."

Lucy rolled her eyes at that. Mira thought everything was to do with love, in a minute they'll change the topic and she'll start talking about how Lucy was in love with Gray, and set Juvia off.

"I don't know Mira-san," Wendy spoke up hesitatingly, "while it's so obviously how Natsu-san feels for Lucy-san, I don't think Lucy-san returns those feelings."

Lucy choked at that. Wait, what? What feelings?! What does Natsu feel for her? She needs to know! Desperately as the girls all leaned into whisper to one another Lucy began to crawl across the guild floor to get closer to the balcony.

(Wendy looked on mortified while the girls really struggled not to laugh at this point. Cana snorted and spluttered before she threw herself against Kinana again and sniggered into the poor girl's neck. Levy, however, face-palmed. "Oh Lu-Chan!" she murmured embarrassedly.)

"Such a shame really," Bisca said loudly, "I have never known a boy to be so ardently and obviously in love with a girl."

"What?!" Lucy squeaked.

She then immediately covered her mouth and rolled under a table, she accidentally knocked into a stool and sent it rolling across the floor. With a horrified gasp she curled under the table as much as she could and prayed no one had heard or seen her.

"Must have been the wind," Erza said quietly, "and I must agree with you Bisca. I have never seen Natsu so besotted with someone in all the time I have known him."

Lucy sighed and slumped with relief. They hadn't seen her. She was safe to keep on listening…..her relieve quickly turned into embarrassment as she realised exactly what Erza had said, and instantly her cheeks burned brightly.

(Cana was now incapable of saying anything as the sight of Lucy's legs sticking out from under the table set her off completely. Kinana had to rub soothing circles on her back as her giggling quickly turned into the hiccups. "The worst thing is," Erza mumbled to Levy, "is that she's still the best one for espionage compared to Natsu and Gray.")

"Are you sure it's love?" Levy asked doubtfully. "I mean Natsu treats everyone the same. He might go out his way to rescue Lu-Chan but he has done the same thing for you and Mira and anyone else in as much danger."

"Trust me on this," Lisanna said solemnly, "as Natsu's best friend, after Happy, I know when Natsu is in love with someone, and he is definitely in love with Lucy."

Whatever irritation Lucy might have felt at Lisanna's claim of being Natsu best friend faded at an instant when she heard Lisanna confirm what everyone is saying. Natsu? She thought disbelievingly, Natsu was in love with her? That couldn't true….could it?

"And Happy has been telling me that Natsu spends all his time moping about Lucy," Charle said, "I think Happy would know best seeing as he spends all his time with the boy."

Charle was right, Happy would know best…but then Happy was a great big tease.

"Yes but that is hardly a reliable source," Laki said sceptically, "everyone knows what a big gossip and wind-up merchant, Happy is. He teases everyone about being in a romantic relationship with everyone else."

"Happy once said Juvia liked Gajeel-kun!" Juvia said horrified. "All because Gajeel-kun was kind enough to make sure Juvia didn't trip over her Gray-sama body pillow. Juvia was mortified. She thought Gray-sama was going to think she was a cheating whore!"

"Gray would never think that," Mira said comfortingly, "and Happy got his just deserts for that little joke, didn't he?"

"Gajeel-kun was terribly stern on him."

"I know Happy can be unreliable at times," Charle said, "but not on this. He had confided in me and asked me to keep this a secret, which means it must be true, so you must not tell anyone," she added sternly, "but apparently Natsu has been unable to sleep or eat or do anything anymore."

Lucy, and all the other girls, gasped at that. Really?! She thought tearfully. She had affected him that much? Natsu loved eating and to not to be able to do anything anymore….

"I thought it was weird that he wasn't demanding a fight from Gray anymore," Cana said, "I didn't realise that was why."

"Yes," Charle said solemnly, "He has become a shell of a man all because Lucy is no longer kind to him. Can you imagine how much worse it can be when he is given no hope at all?"

"But surely Lucy-san would return Natsu-san's affections?" Wendy pressed. "Is that not why she is so cross with him for leaving?"

Lucy froze at that. Her breath caught in her lungs as the thought burned away in her entire being. Was that why she was so cross with Natsu? Yes…..she realised as tears welled up in her eyes, her cheeks burned as red as Erza's hair, and a fluttery feeling took over in her stomach.

Oh my God! She was in love with Natsu Dragneel!

"I doubt it," Levy said sadly, "as much as I love Lu-Chan, she is a bit of a snob," Lucy gasped indignantly at that and promptly sat up. She immediately bashed her head against the table and collapsed against the floor, groaning in agony. Shit! They must have heard that. "She has this ideal boyfriend in her head" Levy continued, and Lucy relaxed again, the girls were so caught up in gossiping that they hadn't heard Lucy bump her head, "smart, rich, polite, a complete gentleman, and she has never considered anything less for herself."

"("Is Lucy-san okay?" Wendy whispered worriedly. "That was a rather loud bump."

"She'll be fine," Charle said dismissively, "serves her right for eavesdropping.")

Levy-Chan was wrong! Lucy moaned, both out of the physical pain of hitting her head and the agony of hearing Levy be so wrong about something so important. She didn't want someone who was essentially hat she ran away from. She wanted someone kind, and warm, and adventurous, someone with a silly grin, and pink hair, and an ability to make everything feel better…

Oh no! Lucy had come to the conclusion that she was utterly in love with Natsu, and Natsu might just be in love with her, but she had been so mean, and cold, and snappy, and horrible towards him that she might have just lost him…..

How on earth was she going to fix this?

(Mira smirked and signalled the girls that it was time to end the conversation. She firmly believed that they had made their point to Lucy and that they had succeeded in step two in the masterplan. The girls all silently cheered as they high-fived one another and then loudly made their excuses to leave…now it was all up to Natsu and Lucy, Mira hopes they don't screw it up.)

FTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFT

It had been three weeks since the guild had initiated their plan to sort Natsu and Lucy out and it had been three, very long, very painful, and very entertaining weeks. The pair had gone from having a cold, hideously unbearable, tension between them to having an awkward, infuriating, tension between them as they blushed, and stammered, and kept making eye contact that went on forever with soppy, daft, smiles.

And yet, much to everyone's frustration, nothing happened.

Impatient as ever, Mira had dropped a hint for love letters, and yet neither Natsu nor Lucy seemed to pick up on it and do something about declaring their love for one another.

"Well," Happy said cheerfully, "at least they're no longer arguing anymore and I get to tease them a lot. So I'm having fun."

"At least someone is," Mira grumbled. She sulked for a moment as she thought about bring her plan to conclusion. In her story there was subplot about another couple and it was their happy ending that prompted the love confession and wedding of the main couple. Sadly there was no other couple with a wedding due or an evil brother plotting to ruin everything to bring everything out in the open. Therefore she had to do it and if she was going to do it now (because Damnit she was fed up with waiting!) she was going to need something. "Ne, Happy," she said slowly, persuasively, "could you do me a favour?" she pleaded while widening her eyes for full effect. "I promise you there'll be a fish in it for you."

"Sure!" Happy beamed. "What do you want me to do?" Mira leaned in and whispered into his ear, the more she whispered the more Happy's sweet beam turned into an evil grin. "I can do that," he said confidently, "just give me an hour."

He did it in twenty minutes while cackling like a mad man and Mira gladly rewarded the boastful cat with a fish.

Then she waited for her moment, and when Natsu and Lucy bumped into each other (Natsu heading towards Laxus' direction – probably to attempt another fight – and Lucy heading towards the bathroom) they started that adorable, awkward, cliché of keep stepping into each other's way while trying to step out of each other's way, and then Lucy tripped slightly and Natsu caught her by the waist and that lead to a half a minute stare into each other's eyes….

"OH JUST KISS ALREADY!" Mira burst out. Natsu and Lucy immediately jumped, whirled round to face her with flaming cheeks, and began to stutter out a denial. "Oh don't deny it!" Mira wrinkled her nose in disgust. "We all know that you two are in love with one another."

Lucy puffed up with embarrassed indignation. "I am not-"

"And I have proof!" Mira waved an envelope in the air. Everyone watched her with an attention and focus that was rarely seen outside of a battle. "Right here," Mira dragged out purposely to get everyone lean in, "I have a love letter from Lucy to Natsu."

"WHAT?!" Lucy shrieked, her face as red as Erza's hair, "How did you get th- I mean," she crossed her arms and tried to claw back her dignity, "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Happy snickered. "Don't lie Lucy," he taunted her, "we all know it's your love letter."

Realisation dawned on Lucy to how her letter ended up in Mira's perfectly manicured hands. "Why you little-"

"Let me see that!" Natsu snapped impatiently as he reached for the letter. Lucy gasped and tried to push Natsu out of the way and snatch the letter herself. Unfortunately she was three seconds too late and her hand grabbed onto thin air as she crashed into Natsu back. There was then a bit of a fight as she tried to take the letter from Natsu but he infuriatingly dodged all of her attempts and then held the letter way up in the air as she jumped up and down trying to snatch it. She gave up to despair as Natsu smugly opened the enveloped. "Sealed with a kiss too," he smirked. She was pleased to see that that terribly smug and irritating smirk faded a little as he took in her letter." Damn Luce," he murmured in awe, "you wrote five pages back to back."

And then his cocky arrogance reared it's head as he smirked again.

"And here," Mira waved her other hand, "I have a love letter to Lucy from Natsu."

His cockiness vanished rapidly as he paled. "WHAT?!" he bellowed. Lucy lunged for the letter without a second thought. "NO!" Natsu cried out as he tried to stop her. Lucy kicked him away with quickly and with as much strength as she could muster and then eagerly ripped open the letter. "Don't read that!" Natsu shouted, his cheeks as pink as his hair.

"Wait," Gray piped up, "Natsu wrote something?"

"Barely," Lucy snorted, "So far it just says Dear Lucy, and then everything is scribbled out, and then it says why is this so bloody hard? It shouldn't be so hard to write how I feel. Damnit Luce, I blame you. I loved you less this might be easier to do… oh," she clutched the letter close to her chest as her eyes watered up with many different emotions. "Natsu."

Natsu avoided looking at her. His cheeks still bright pink from embarrassment and his eyes darting everywhere for a distraction when he jumped in realisation that he still had her letter to read and quickly started doing that only to drop the pages onto the floor as Lucy flung herself into his arms.

Their kiss was rather spectacular to watch. Gray will later declare it was one of the most disgusting things he had ever witnessed and Happy will back him up.

Everyone else just cheered that all the tension was finally over.

"See?" Mira smirked. "What did I tell you?" she bragged. "No effort from us whatsoever."

"We get it," Laxus rolled his eyes, and then he smirked back and gave her an admiringly glance. "You're an evil genius."

"And don't you ever forget it!"
