My New Life in Equestria
Chapter 12:
"Heya Mex, could we have a chat real quick?" Applejack said after Apple Bloom left the dinner table.
"Sure, what's up?" I say, seeing that the older Apples are staying at the table as well.
Applejack glances over to Granny Smith and Big Mac before turning back to me.
"It's about that letter that Miss Cherilee sent home with ya." Applejack said.
I lower my head a little, knowing what the note said.
"It's about my hallucinations, isn't it?" I say, seeming almost ashamed.
"Err, that it is young'un," Granny said.
I look up to the Apples, who all look back at me with concerned faces.
"Do you wanna tell us what's goin on with ya sugar cube?" Applejack said.
I take a breath.
"It started the night before, I started having these flashbacks of my time as a guardian, a certain phrase or smell would start to warp everything around me and I would relive memories that happened many years ago," I say.
I took another breath before continuing.
"I could be talking with Apple Bloom one second, and then under heavy Cabal artillery fire the next; I'd reach for my service weapon but it's not there, so I would get cover," I said.
Granny closed her eyes and a tear slowly dropped from one eye.
"Yer a true hero kiddo, I ever tell ya that?" Granny said smiling at me.
I was a little taken off guard by her sudden praise but it warmed my heart.
"O-oh, thank you Granny, but where did that come from?" I asked.
"I've seen what a warzone does to ponies before, I have always and always will hold the utmost respect for soldier's young'un," Granny said wiping away the tear.
I smile and stand up from my chair, walk over to Granny and hug her.
"Thank you, Granny, that makes me feel a little better," I said while smiling.
Applejack looks over to Granny.
"Hey, Granny? Have you ever seen what's going on with Mex before? I mean the visions." She said.
"Can't say that I have Applejack, why do you ask?" Granny replied.
"I was just thinking how we can help Mex is all." Applejack replied.
"Maybe you should ask Twilight for help." Big Mac says.
"Good idea! We'll head over to her castle tomorrow morning before school, okay Mex?" Applejack said.
"Yeah, sounds like a plan sis- I mean, Applejack," I say blushing up a storm.
"Uh, anyway, I should get to sleep, I'm beat," I say quickly rushing up the stairs to my room.
The older Apples share a chuckle before heading to bed themselves.
I walk into my room and see Apple Bloom lying on my bed with a notepad writing something down.
"Hey Mex! There ya are! What took ya so long?" Apple Bloom said.
I playfully pull a confused face and double-take.
"Uh, did I go into the wrong room?" I say with a grin.
"Well, I just figured I'd end up here anyway, so may as well save myself the trouble of sleepwalking here." Apple Bloom said patting the bed next to her.
Suddenly, my memory flashes again to a time when Commander Zavala did the same thing to me shortly after I was reborn as a guardian and entered the Tower for the first time. It was a case of mistaken identity, he was consoling another warlock who had just lost a fireteam member.
I shake my head and snap back to reality, the whole thing happened in less than three seconds. I walk over to my bed and lay down next to Apple Bloom who, immediately snuggles closer to me and shows me the notebook.
"What do you think about these activates for our cutie marks?" She said.
"Still, can't quite read yet, remember?" I say.
"Oh, er, right." Apple Bloom said.
"I've got carpentry, box packing, water skiing and jugglers." She said.
"Sounds good! Maybe add something like, pillow testing, cuz I'll be testing this pillow right now." I say with a chuckle.
Apple Bloom giggles.
"Cheeky, alright, good night Mex," Apple Bloom said, giving me a smooch on my head.
My heart immediately wrenched and I felt filled with love and care. All I could do was smile and put my right front leg around Apple Bloom and drift off to sleep.
It's early morning and I'm awoken by Applejack gently shaking me awake, Apple Bloom is still asleep.
"Mornin Mex, we gotta head out to Twilights soon." She said in a hushed whisper.
I look over to Apple Bloom who is still firmly attached to me and smile.
"Just a sec," I reply.
My horn glows brightly for a moment and I find myself standing next to Applejack. I look back to Apple Bloom who squirms a bit but settles again. I look to Applejack.
"Okay, let's go," I whisper.
Applejack and I head downstairs to where she already had a fresh cup of coffee for me.
I smell the coffee in the air and take a big whiff of it.
"Oh Applejack, you're just simply the best ever," I say, picking up the coffee.
Applejack curtsied in a classic "farmer fashion" and smiled.
"Don't ya ever forget it?" She said with a smile.
We have our coffee in a few minutes and head over to Twilights castle. On the walk over, we talk about anything and everything, like the upcoming "Hearts and Hooves Day" and Applejack explained what it is to me.
"Hmm, sounds nice, but I'm kinda... buggered in that regard," I say.
"What do you mean sugar cube?" Applejack said.
"I mean in love, I'll never have it here, just like back home," I say with a slight chuckle.
"Aww, don't say that hon, I'm sure there's a special somepony out there for you, what about Sweetie Belle? You two would be perfect!" Applejack said.
I look at Applejack with a raised eyebrow.
"As much as I appreciate that, I have the mind of an older pony, in the body of a youth, I can't date somepony my physical age because, well, mentally, I'm fifty-five years old, and I can't date somepony my mental age because I'm physically a colt," I say.
"So, I'm doomed in the terms of love," I say with a chuckle.
Applejack was about to say something with an open mouth but closed it and realised I was right.
"Well, you don't have to celebrate Hearts and Hooves Day with a romantic partner, ya could always go with somepony you care a lot about." Applejack said with a smile.
I look up at her and smile.
"Huh, I suppose you're right, maybe I'll ask the Crusaders to celebrate with me! We could have one of those picnics that I've heard about! Thanks, Applejack." I say giving her a big hug as we walk.
Applejack smiles back and returns the hug along with a mane ruffle.
Before long, we reach Twilight's Castle and knock on the door. Twilight answers and is surprised to see us.
"Oh! Hello you two, is something wrong?" Twilight asks.
"Well, kinda; We were hoping we could talk to you." Applejack said.
Twilight opens the door fully and welcomes us inside.
"Oh, of course, what's the problem?" Twilight replied.
Applejack and I tell Twilight what's been happening.
"I see, well I have a pony over that could help," Twilight said, motioning towards a mare approaching us.
"Applejack, Mex, this is Doctor Therapony, she's from Canterlot, Princess Celestia sent her here after I got Miss Cherilee's note," Twilight said.
"Hello Mex, you may call me Doctor T if that's easier for you." Doctor T said.
"H-hello miss T- Doctor T, word sure travels fast, and so do you," I say with a chuckle, hoping to break the ice.
Doctor T giggles in return.
"Yes, when Princess Celestia herself asked me to help Equestria's first Alicorn colt in history, I couldn't possibly say no." Doctor T said.
"Well, I sure hope you can help me," I say with a smile.
"Why don't you talk with the doctor and I'll keep Applejack entertained for a while?" Twilight said.
"Actually Princess, for the first few sessions, I would like somepony, or ponies, to act as a sort of anchor for Mex, I find it helps a lot in very traumatic cases like Mex's," Doctor T said.
"Oh, of course, if that's okay with Mex and Applejack," Twilight said.
Applejack nodded in approval, as did I.
"Great, let's get started, shall we?" Doctor T said.
I spend about ten minutes explaining what is going on and answering Doctor T's questions.
"I see, and these visions, do they feel real? Like, can you smell things similar to that area when a vision triggers?" Doctor T asked.
"Yes, everything changes, it's like I'm there all over again, the ash in the air from a Cabal warship or that metallic tang in the air that I can taste when the Taken arrive," I say, closing my eyes for a moment.
"I see. Mex, I believe you are experiencing what's called a "Bleed Through" effect, essentially, a bleed-through is when memories that you have buried long ago, resurface in such a way that your mind can't differentiate between reality and memory." Doctor T said.
"I see, so my mind is confusing fact with fiction?" I ask.
"Essentially, yes." Doctor T said.
"What can we do Doctor?" Applejack asked.
"Well, it may be a good idea to share a memory that you may have been thinking about recently; This could give us a better understanding of what you're going through and help take some of the pressure off of your shoulders." Doctor T said.
"Share my trauma?" I ask.
"Yes, only if you want to or feel ready to." Doctor T said.
I think about this for a moment and answer.
"Alright, but I can do one better, I can show you," I say.
"Pardon?" Doctor T said.
"Discord taught me a spell that shares my memories with those that I want to share them with, if you want, I can show you one, but be warned," I say, closing my eyes.
"They are not pretty," I say opening my eyes again.
The mares look at each other and collectively nod their heads.
"As much as I don't trust a spell that came from Discord, I doubt he'd have taught it to you to cause you harm, go ahead sugar cube." Applejack said.
I cast the spell and pull the three mares into a memory of one of my many missions.
"Whoa, where are we?" Applejack said.
"In my memory, this was a standard strike protocol that my fireteam and I did very regularly, today, we were hunting a Fallen commander on a planet called Nessus," I say.
"Eyes up guys, The Fallen are everywhere," Demi said.
"That's Demi, our team's Hunter and marksman," I say to the others.
"Stick to a tight formation, they could be anywhere," Kai said.
"And that's Kai, our team's Titan and commander," I say.
"Mex, you getting anything on your radar?" Demi said.
"No, it's like they're all laying low or something, watch out for any movement, if you see any, blast them to smithereens." Human Mex said.
"That's you?" Doctor T said.
"Yep, that's me, the team's Warlock, a master at detection. Or so I claimed." I say with a chuckle.
"I don't understand, everything seems to be just fine Mex." Applejack said.
I close my eyes, knowing what's about to happen.
Out of nowhere, a swarm of Fallen Stealth Vandals appear behind us and kill Kai with a stab to his back. Demi and I hear Kai's pain cry and instantly turn to face him.
"Kai!" Demi said, before being stabbed in the back herself and falling to the ground. I turn to Demi after hearing her cry of pain as well.
"Demi!" I yell.
Doctor T, Applejack and Twilight all gasped in shock as the events unfolded in front of them, lasting all of six seconds.
Figuring they would do the same thing to me; I smash my elbow behind myself and hit the Vandal square in the face.
"Demi! Alright, that's it!" I exclaim.
I toss a vortex grenade at my feet, it stung a bit, but the stunned vandal behind me began burning in void light, long enough for me to see where it was, I raised my shotgun and fired, killing it.
"Ghost! Light up the area now!" I yell, and the ghost summons a light around my body and illuminates about fifteen meters around me.
I see another vandal and kill it, I make my way to Demi's ghost and assist with her revival, her ghost shimmers and expands its shell, and Demi is left standing there holding her weapon. A few seconds after I resurrect Demi, another vandal appeared behind me and stabbed me in the back, killing me.
The mares once again are shocked by what they see, Applejack and Twilight shed a tear.
"Mex!" Demi and Applejack yells out.
Demi growls out loud and draws her hand cannon, firing at the vandal illuminated by my light, the bullet kills the vandal and Demi throws a smoke bomb onto the floor, vanishing from sight. Demi revives Kai, and together, they activate their lights and make their way to me.
Kai revives me, and together we start slaughtering vandals left and right. A vandal charges at us and Kai punches it in the face and then shoots it with his rifle. Another vandal charges Demi, who stabs it in the chest but not before getting a swing off at me, injuring me badly.
More and more vandals are appearing and swarming us.
"Enough!" Kai yells.
Kai activates a Fists of Havoc and smashes the ground, disintegrating four vandals who were right next to us. He then continues to slam the ground in an arc fury that only a titan is capable of.
"That's enough," I say and deactivate the spell.
The mares all catch their breath, processing what they've just seen. Applejack runs over to me, scoops me up and hugs me.
"Oh Mex, you poor, poor colt," Twilight said.
"I-I think I understand where your trauma has come from." Doctor T said.
Applejack stops her hug and looks at me, still in her hooves.
"I- I never knew it was that bad Mex, I'm so sorry for that." She said.
I look at her with a smile.
"You have nothing to be sorry for Applejack, none of this is your fault, I could have been more open about the whole thing as well," I say, lowering my head into her shoulder.
Twilight comes over and joins the hug, she looks at Doctor T.
"So, Doctor T, what do you think we do?" She said.
"Well, I think the first step has just been done, sharing one's troubles always helps, but, going forward, some standard sessions with me will be in order." Doctor T said.
"I'm also going to prescribe some medicines, these potions are a relaxing agent that will help you get through the worst of it, be sure to only drink them when you need them, okay?" Doctor T said.
I nod my head and grab the potion vials from her.
"Thank you, Doctor T, I do feel much better, and hungry, very hungry," I say, causing a round of chuckles.
"Well, you've got about an hour left before school, can I trust you to get yourself there?" Applejack said, putting me back on the ground.
"Uh-huh!" I say with a smile.
"And, also, I apologise to everypony for having to witness that, no pony but me should have to deal with this," I say with my head low.
Doctor T looks over at me and kneels to my level.
"We'll go over why that's not the case in our next session, but please, your friends here love you, they want to help you get through this." She said.
I smile back at her and give her a quick hug, before waving goodbye to them and heading outside.
"I feel like a burger from that place the girls showed me about a week ago, "The Hayburger" was it?" I think to myself.
After getting directions from some ponies, I arrive at the Hayburger and quickly grab my bits bag from my ODS spell, I walk inside and order a standard meal from the cashier, who gives me a table number with a smile.
I find a table near the corner of the restaurant near a white and blue pegasi stallion, happily munching away at his meal, while reading what looks like a transcript of an ancient tome.
I get curious about the text and politely walk up to him.
"Um, hello? My name is Mex, I was just wondering, what are you reading? It looks like a transcript of some kind." I say.
The stallion finishes his bite of food and looks at me, his eyes go wide for a moment before he speaks.
"Hi, um, of course, I'm reading a transcript of a tome I recently found in a buried library, it's about the origins of potion-making." The stallion said.
The stallion has a moment where he realises, he missed something.
"Oh! Pardon me, my name is Wind Striker, I'm a historian researching ancient Equestria, say, do you mind me asking, you are an alicorn aren't you?" Wind Striker said.
I nod my head.
"Yes, but I'm not royalty, it's a very long story," I say.
"I love long stories being a historian if you have the time to tell it." Wind Striker said.
I nod and move my table number over to Wind Strikers' table, and begin to tell him everything so far.
Twenty minutes has gone past, and I was just finishing my food and milkshake, along with my story.
"So, that's it, I'm an ex-guardian of the Tower, reborn as an alicorn colt in your world," I say, taking the last sip of my milkshake.
"Fascinating, very fascinating." Wind Striker says.
"Say, if it's not too much trouble, you think I could get a copy of that transcript?" I ask.
Wind Striker smiles and nods.
"Of course! I happen to have a spare copy with me right now actually, just in case something happens to the first one, you know?" Wind Striker said.
"Or, you give it to a new friend?" I say chuckling.
Wind Striker laughs.
"Yes, or that." He said.
I decide to head to school early and work on my reading by reading the transcript, I'm getting the hang of it now, I make a few mistakes here and there but I can at least read now. Having the advantage of an adult mind helps things along a lot faster.
A few minutes go by and I arrive at school where Miss Cherilee is setting up for the day. I knock on the door.
"Miss Cherilee?" I say walking inside.
Miss Cherilee looks up at me with mild shock and blinks a few times.
"Oh, hi Mex, you're here very early." She says.
"Yeah, I was just wondering if I could come in a bit early and work on my reading?" I ask, showing the transcript Wind Striker gave me.
"Oh, of course, I don't mind at all, what are you reading?" She asks.
"A transcript from an ancient tome recently found in a buried library that I got from a historian at the Hayburger, it tells the story of the origins of potion-making," I say.
Miss Cherilee blinks a few times, stunned.
"W-what?! You're not joking, are you? Something like that is a massive discovery!" Miss Cherilee said.
"Nope, I'm not joking, that's what the historian said," I said, sitting down at my desk and begin reading.
Miss Cherilee walked over to my desk.
"Need some help? I'm finished setting up and could help you with your reading." She said.
I look up at her and smile.
"You wanna read the transcript as well, don't you?" I said with a chuckle.
"Well, yes, I am very interested in it I will admit, but I also would like to help you with your reading." She said.
I smile and nod, pulling up a chair for her and sprawling the transcript out on the table where I begin reading it out loud.
"Adventahoof was a very famous pony of science in our hometown, he was widely known as the father of potion brewing, here is his story." I began reading.
Half an hour later and school had started, Apple Bloom asked me if I was okay because I wasn't there when I woke up and had a minor panic attack, Applejack told her where I was and she calmed down.
The girls and I settle in for class.
"Good morning class." Miss Cherilee said.
"Good morning, Miss Cherilee." We all said at once.
"Today, we'll be learning all about pony magic, from the Unicorn's spells, the Pegasi's ability to fly and even the Earth Ponies' magic to tend the earth." Miss Cherilee said.
My ears perked up at this as I had been wondering about it for a while now.
"Well, as you all know, every kind of pony has a unique kind of magic, the Unicorns can cast spells, the most obvious and outward kind of magic." Miss Cherilee said.
"The Pegasi can fly and have the ability to walk on clouds." She continued.
"The Earth Ponies have a much deeper connection with the earth, allowing them to grow food a lot more effectively." She continued.
A mare in the front row raised her hoof.
"Yes?" Miss Cherilee said.
"What about alicorns?" The mare said.
The entire class glanced over at me and I proceeded to lightly face hoof.
"Ah, yes, the Alicorns are very special in the way that they have aspects of all three pony tribes, making alicorn magic the most powerful of the four." Miss Cherilee said.
"As of now, there has never been an alicorn colt or stallion before, at least, as far as our history pages suggest, that is, of course, until our very own Mex arrived." Miss Cherilee said smiling at me. The class, again, all turned to look at me.
I buried my face in my hooves for a few moments before smiling at the class.
"So, today, we'll be teaming up in pairs and we'll put together a presentation at the end of the day discussing the importance of each pony's magic, and describing, to the best of your abilities, how each magic works." Miss Cherilee said.
Excited chatter is heard throughout the class as colts and mares are already grabbing their teammates. The girls and I look at each other and nod.
"Alright everypony, grab your partner and get to work, I'll help anypony who needs it, just flag me down." Miss Cherilee said.
Sweetie Belle raised her hoof.
"Uh, Miss Cherilee? Is it okay if the crusaders work together and then do our presentations in pairs?" Sweetie Belle said.
"Yes, that's perfectly fine." Miss Cherilee said with a smile.
"Yes!" We all said together.
The next couple of hours were spent talking about the presentation and how to word it. Sweetie Belle and I were presenting and Apple Bloom and Scootaloo were presenting as well. The bell rings.
"Alright class, that's recess, have a great time!" Miss Cherilee said.
We all stand up and head outside, chatting away in our conversations, the girls and I meet up outside by the tables.
"We've so got this!" Sweetie Belle said.
"Yeah! This seems a bit too easy, doesn't it? I mean, we all know this already." Scootaloo said.
"It's because of me, teaching me the basics of your world while also giving y'all a refresher," I say.
The girls do an "Ahhh" together seeming to understand.
Apple Bloom starts telling the girls about the list of things to try to get our cutie marks, a Cabals face flashes in front of my eyes for a brief second and I jump a little. Scootaloo noticed.
"You alright Mex? Another vision?" She said.
"Yeah, I'm fine though, it wasn't too bad," I say.
Apple Bloom puts her front leg around me and side hugs me. I return the hug.
"Hey, so Applejack was telling me about an event coming up soon, Hearts and Hooves Day? Did you guys wanna celebrate together?" I say.
Sweetie Belle immediately blushes and Scootaloo looks away avoiding eye contact and also blushing a bit, Apple Bloom blushes as well.
"U-uh, um, did Applejack tell you what you're supposed to do during Hearts and Hooves Day?" Apple Bloom said.
"Yeah, she said you're supposed to spend the day with your special somepony, but, since I'm pretty buggered in the love department, I figured we could just have a picnic or something," I say.
"Wait, why can't you find a special somepony?" Sweetie Belle said.
I explain to her the same reasons I told Applejack, being an adult in a colt's body.
"So, I can't date somepony my psychological age because I'm in a young body, and I can't date somepony my physical age because, really, I'm fifty-five years old," I say with a shrug.
The girls share a look of understanding, and Sweetie Belle especially looks very sad.
"It's okay, don't feel too sorry for me, guess I've never been destined for love, well, romantic love anyway, I love you guys!" I say with a smile.
"Aww!" They all say together.
"That sounds like fun Mex! What do you girls think?" Scootaloo said.
"I like that idea! Sweetie Belle?" Apple Bloom said.
"Sounds great!" She said, quickly wiping away a tear.
"Alright! That is of course if you girls don't have any other plans for Hearts and Hooves Day?" The girls share a giggle between them, something I'm not privy to, I guess.
"Oh, I doubt they'll have a colt interested in them." A familiar voice said behind us.
We all turn around and see Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon snickering away.
Scootaloo was about to say something when I interrupted her.
"Diamond Tiara, what Thrall infested hole did you crawl out of this time?" I say, causing the CMC girls to giggle.
"W-what?" She said in clear confusion.
"Never mind, what do you want? If it's just to cause trouble, then you're not welcome here." I say, turning my back to them.
"We don't need your permission to be here Blank Fank!" She said in an angry tone.
I give her a side eye that any military soldier would know to mean in an instant to "Shut it"
Diamond Tiara reels back a bit before angry huffing and stomping away, Silver Spoon in tow. The girls and I waited twenty seconds and then burst out laughing.
"That was amazing Mex!" Apple Bloom said with a tear in her eye from laughing.
I excuse myself from the table for a minute or so and walk over to Miss Cherilee.
"Excuse me Miss Cherilee? Could I ask you something really quick?" I say.
The bell rings and we all funnel back to class, Diamond Tiara glaring at us until we were back inside. We all continue to work on our projects, I don't know too much about the subject, but I know enough to contribute and learn from the girls.
A few more hours go by and the bell rings for lunch.
"And that's lunch everypony, before you go outside though, a kind pony has bought the class lunch from The Hayburger." Miss Cherilee said, followed by roaring cheers from the class.
"Who was it, Miss Cherilee?" A filly asked.
"They would like to remain un-named I'm afraid." Miss Cherilee said.
Apple Bloom glances over towards me and I give her a quick wink, she smiles.
Everypony takes their lunch outside to eat and play, we take our spot back at the table. As we're eating, we're talking about the "Mysterious donor".
"Whoever did it sure was a generous pony!" Sweetie Belle said.
"Yeah! What a good pony!" Scootaloo said.
"Yeah, I agree, such a kind, and generous pony indeed," I say while making eye contact with Apple Bloom who pretends to roll her eyes and then agrees.
"Our campin trip is tomorrow! Are you guy's excited?!" Scootaloo said.
"Yeah, I can't wait!" Sweetie Belle said.
I glance at Apple Bloom; she glances at me.
"Actually, I have some news about our trip." Apple Bloom said.
"Oh no! You can still go can't you Apple Bloom?" Sweetie Belle said with a worried look, Scootaloo also gives a concerned look.
"Oh, yeah of course! The news is that... Mex is comin with us!" Apple Bloom said.
Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo gasp in surprise and turn to me.
"Really?! I thought you said you didn't want to go because it was a sister's thing." Scootaloo said.
"Yeah, Apple Bloom convinced me that it would be fine, this is assuming that you two are okay with it of course," I say, taking another bite of my hayburger.
"Okay?! We'd love it if you came with us!" Sweetie Belle said, a bit too excited.
"Easy there Sweetie Belle, you seem a bit too happy about that," Scootaloo said with a knowing smirk, Sweetie Belle blushes and gently shoves Scootaloo.
I look at them with a raised eyebrow and a slightly cocked head. Apple Bloom face hooves but doesn't say anything. Me, confused as ever.
"W-what?" I say.
"Nothing! It doesn't matter!" Sweetie Belle said, blushing even harder.
I shrug.
"Oh, well alright, yeah, I'll be coming with you guys, I can even store the camping supplies with my ODS spell, so nopony has to lug around any heavy things," I say with a smile.
Sweetie Belle looks relieved, which confused me even more, but I decided to drop it.
The bell rings again and we all stand up and move inside to do our presentation. Sweetie Belle and I were up first and we smashed it! A+, Scootaloo and Apple Bloom were next, they also, smashed it! A+ again!
After all of the presentations were finished, the school day was over, and we all filed out, heading home. We said goodbye to the girls, promising to see each other tomorrow for the camping trip.
"Hey, Apple Bloom? You go on ahead home, I'm going to get some training and a workout in." I say unfurling my wings and igniting a Warp Flight window.
"Oh! Can I come and watch ya? I heard from Applejack that it's a sight to behold!" Apple Bloom said.
"Uh, sure, if you want, just make sure to stay at least two hundred meters away for safety's sake," I say.
Apple Bloom nods with a smile and I shut the Warp Flight window down and instead opt for a teleport spell. My horn glows and we go to an open field I use for training just outside the farm. I quickly send both Applejack and Twilight a letter informing them I'm doing some training with Apple Bloom.
"Alright, I'm good to start, first, I meditate for a few minutes and then I'll begin, the start will be abrupt, so make sure you get your distance now," I say.
"Okay! I'm so excited! I've never seen this before!" Apple Bloom said as she was trotting to a safe distance.
A few minutes pass and Apple Bloom is up on a little hill a good distance away. Twilight, Spike, Applejack and Princess Luna walk up behind Apple Bloom who turns around.
"Oh! Hi everypony, uh, Princess Luna." Apple Bloom said with a bow.
"Greetings Apple Bloom, we have come to observe Mex and his training," Luna said.
"Oh, sweet! Now I have some friends to watch with me!" Apple Bloom said.
"What is he doing?" Twilight said.
"He's meditating, helps him build focus." Apple Bloom said with a cheery tone.
A few moments more pass and I begin my training, I begin with six decently sized stasis crystals in different directions, immediately followed by a mix of solar and arc light, form it into a sword and hover it above my horn, I quickly slice the blade through the air towards a stasis crystal and shatter it with a large explosion of fire and lightning.
I do the same to two other crystals with similar results and then switch to a void and arc mix, form it into projectiles and fire at two more crystals, the explosion was similar to a black hole, with lightning arcing out of the middle to the surrounding areas.
For the last Crystal, I mix solar and void together, creating a large burning sword, laced with void light around the sides. I swing a massive blade towards the last crystal, shattering it into an explosion of burning void light and mushrooming up into the sky with void energy and fire scorching the surrounding area.
I place ten more stasis crystals on the ground and make my first attempt at mixing all four power, arc, solar, void and stasis. I form the mixture into a ball above my horn, looking similar to a nova bomb, but violently arcing with the elements around me and the ground.
I threw the ball at the crystal and jumped out of the way, a vacuum began pulling debris from about 150 meters around the ball, collapsing into a very large explosion that I guided upwards, instead of outwards.
This entire sequence of events happened in roughly ten seconds.
There were a few moments of shocked silence from the ponies watching my training, Apple Bloom was the first to speak.
"Wow!" She said.
"I- I never realised just how powerful he is," Spike said.
"Indeed, I am concerned he may not have full control of his power yet," Luna said.
"I'll keep working with him Princess Luna, he has complete control over his regular pony magic; But no pony has ever dealt with the light before, who knows just how powerful he will become when he grows up," Twilight said.
Suddenly, Mex groans out in pain and kneels to the ground, magic and light surrounding his body and arcing out everywhere in the form of quick bolts of purple and red lightning.
"Mex!" Apple Bloom said and began running out to me.
"Ugh! Dam! Over-extended myself again." I say, cussing myself out in my head.
"Probably from all the use of the light I've been doing lately, guess I do have a limit after all," I say, following up with a chuckle.
Apple Bloom runs up to me, closely followed by Princesses Luna and Twilight, Applejack and Spike.
"Mex! Are you okay?" Apple Bloom said, clearly worried.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just over-extended myself again," I say and turn to Twilight and Luna.
"Princesses? Could you please throw up a barrier around everypony? I think my energy is still arcing and I don't want to hurt anypony." I ask.
The Princesses do that just in time for a bolt of my wild energy to shoot out and hit the ground in front of them.
"Sorry," I say, groaning in a pain.
"I think it's stopped now; I can feel my magic and light settling into place again," I say.
I look up the Apple Bloom who has calmed down and smiling again.
"So? How was it?" I said with a laugh.

Wow! So, I'm gonna be honest here, I nearly forgot about the nerfing until right at the end, but yes, there it is, a consequence for using those abilities too much.
