In this story, Hades and Maleficent are King and Queen of Auradon. Mal is the princess and plans on becoming 'Queen' when she turns sixteen. However, there are some people she believes deserves a second chance, more specifically, those who live on the Isle of the Lost.

When a new union of countries was discovered on the other side of the continent, it was decided that the best way to establish peace would be via political marriage.
