Consequences Finale
A/N: 326 favorites, 348 follows, 424 reviews, and 111,975 views… I can't even begin to describe the depth of my gratitude. Not only is this my longest work to date, but also my most popular. 66,587 words before this Finale chapter was posted? That's, like, an actual novel length. Freakin nuts. I had so much fun writing this, especially during a time where the majority of fan theories about Law and Doffy were so dark. I wrote my own dark theory on it, but I'm really glad this story turned out to be way more popular. Last time this was update was 6/27/2014, I had literally just graduated high school a week earlier, and I went on to have my own pirate adventure. Dropped out of college, traveled up and down the US East Coast, went to Paris, London, and Buenos Aires Argentina, moved in with a guy I'd known 6 months to Las Vegas, dumped him, moved to Long Beach California, partied a whole bunch, racked up $11k in credit card debt, then moved back to the Pacific Northwest and lived in a 182 square foot micro studio apartment. Now I'm starting a new career that actually pays the bills and more, bought a new car, am moving into a 940 square foot town home, and plan on buying a house next year.
Don't give up on your dreams and don't be afraid to take risks… it's tough starting out, but it's all worth it. With much love and appreciation, I present you with the final chapter of Consequences.
Long Summary: Baby Law is dropped off on 17y/o Doffy's ship who proceeds to then spend several chapters bullying the toddler. Law's mom, apparently, thought this guy was the most reliable person in her life? I sure wouldn't want to meet her other friends. BTW, I came up with Doffu before I knew about Doffy. There's cuddles, tickles, ups-a-daisy, snack time, finger painting… but the demented pirate version so not G rated, more like PG and PG-13. I also wrote this before knowing Doffy was a world noble, so he's written as growing up poor and a slave, probably because the only clue we had to his past was when Oda drew kid versions of the Shichibukai and Doffy was drawn as a mangey kid. Chibi Law gets kidnapped a bunch and is constantly lost, plus he definitely gets his tsundere side from Doflamingo. Ice cream, caramel apples, bedtime stories, Kaido is apparently a Daddy (the kinky kind, not the father kind), and Mihawk goes through a drunken identity crisis.
HERE WE GO!

It had been a month since his meeting with Kaido, and Doflamingo reclined in a lawn chair on the deck of his ship basking in the rays of the sun on this beautiful sparkling day. The meeting had gone as he'd expected, Kaido wanted to assert dominance over the up-and-coming underworld broker, making sure he knew who was actually in charge. His demands were still the same, to grow his army to an unimaginable size with prospects of destroying the World Government and plunging the planet into chaos. The man thrived on blood and carnage, and in Doflamingo's opinion he was starting to spend way too much time drinking and dreaming.
Regardless, his money paid the bills and afforded him a fairly lavish lifestyle. Everything he presented to the man was as he'd wished, however, they were getting to a point where Kaido was starting to expect the unexpected from him. He didn't want his requests to be met, he wanted them to be exceeded. The pirate captain managed to deliver to some degree, but in order to develop the unexpected, he needed more assets.
Such as an island. He'd gone into this meeting as a scolded child and walked out with the keys to Spider Miles, a scrap town on a small spit of land. It wasn't particularly impressive, but it was a start.
Shortly after the meeting, five-year-old Law had fallen ill. Probably because he'd wandered off and fell into an icy river, but the illness was lasting too long. He'd been coughing and endlessly tired since his initial flu symptoms, but now his skin was beginning to become discolored in sections as if he was being encased in the color white. The ship's doctor was flabbergasted at the sight, not knowing where to start with the symptoms and coming up with some scary conclusions. Law's mom came from the country of Flevance, a land that had disappeared practically in a single night from some mysterious disease and Doflamingo wondered if it had been something hereditary.
At the news of this development, the doctor had researched the incident heavily, finding lost reports of poisonous mining and government delinquency leading to the spread of Amber Lead Syndrome that went on to poison every generation associated with the island until the entire place was burned down as a cover up. It'd been difficult to get their hands on the actual reports instead of the biased crap most news sources put out, but it was a relief the disease wasn't contagious.
That being said, there was no known cure.
The world had been convinced of the plague, however, so it wasn't like they could ask the medical community for assistance.
Stumbling footsteps caught the young man's attention and he glanced up, frowning. Law walked toward him on shaky legs, looking exceptionally tired but thankfully mobile. He took hold of the kid when he was within reach, setting him on his lap to gaze at the magnificent blue sky as well.
"You should be in bed." Doflamingo murmured, carding a hand through the boy's messy hair. Law didn't respond and instead rolled over to lay his head on the blond man's chest.
"I feel icky." The little boy pouted, tears welling up in the corner of his eyes from frustration. The usually squirrely kid had been sick for quite a while, so Doflamingo understood how he felt.
"I know, brat. I'm sorry." He replied in a soft tone, gently kissing the top of his head. He pulled the boy in closer, wondering how he was ever going to explain this all to him. One day he'd understand the circumstances of his childhood and he wondered how the kid would react. His lineage told the man that the kid in his arms wouldn't be the most forgiving, not when he was told his mother was murdered by the World Government, his birth town had been systematically poisoned for generations only to be razed to the ground, he was abandoned as a baby on a pirate ship, and he was dying of an incurable disease.
Doflamingo leaned his head back on the lawn chair with a thunk, deciding to savor this moment as long as he could with the imminent loss of Law's childhood innocence drawing ever nearer.

6 years later
11-year-old Law crouched in an abandoned alleyway, choking back lung wrenching sobs as he tried his best to remain hidden.
Cora-san was dead, Vergo legitimately tried to kill him, and he'd eaten a Devil Fruit. A lot had happened in the last fifteen minutes.
Vergo had been sent away from the DonQuixote pirates a few years ago on a secret mission, so it'd been a surprise to see him on this island. He'd been sure the man would be more than willing to help Doffu's younger brother after he'd been beaten up so badly, but he never expected the former first mate to kill the man.
Tears streamed down his nose, ending in a small puddle at his knees on the dirty and frigid ground.
Doffu had grown cold to him over the years, turning more and more into an unfeeling underworld broker with only money and results on his mind. Cora-san had been the one willing to take him around the world to look for a cure to his Amber Lead Syndrome while Doflamingo had just tried to hide him away. The lack of proper medical care nearly killed him and now that he had the Ope Ope No Mi at his disposal, he figured anything was possible for him to accomplish.
He'd learned of the death of his mother, the destruction of his home down, being abandoned by his family on a sociopath's pirate ship, along with his terminal illness. He recalled memories of his childhood filled with plundering and pillaging, brutality and mistrust, along with backstabbing and betrayal.
He'd been promised it would never happen to him, and what a fool he was for believing it.
Law sobbed once again at the thought of Cora-san, the only man he should've trusted and lamented the time together that was now lost forever.
And yet, he knew he would prevail. One day he'd come back for Doflamingo, the worst excuse for a guardian, and make him pay for what he'd done.

A/N: I'm on a crusade to finish my unfinished fanfics, so as much as it'd like to continue this, I know it'll just spend another 8+ years collecting dust. It was fun reading through it again, my writing style doesn't seem to have changed substantially since high school which is either good for past me or bad for current me lmao. Once I finish my 10 OTHER INCOMPLETE STORIES (HOLY CRAP (THAT DOESN'T EVEN INCLUDE AO3, SHIT)) I might consider writing a drabble collection of 4 y/o Law and pirate captain Doffy sailing the seas in a "Plot, What Plot" style of writing.
If you're here again after 8 years, welcome back! I've missed you! If you're new, thanks for stopping by! Best of wishes and good fortune in your future endeavors =D
