Chapter One: Prologue: (1): The Encounter: (A):
Commander Steve McGarrett was glad that the day was over, He headed over to his favorite bar, & just wanted to relax for the rest of the evening. The music was soothing, since it was a jazz act performing, & he loved them, The Former Seal continued to watch the performance, as he was enjoying his beer. He was shocked to see a familiar blond, sitting across from him at another table, Also, She was relaxing, & enjoying the evening as well.
"Lori ?, What are you doing back here on the island ?, It's so good to see you !", He exclaimed with happiness. The Five-O Commander felt like a high schooler, getting a second chance with his crush. Lori smiled her trademark grin, & answered his question, as she invited him to sit down, & join her. She ordered another round of beers, & turned her attention back to him.
"Well, Steve, I had gotten tired or the life back east, I missed the action here, So, I am doing some pro bono work here, Til, I get an interview for a gig", She answered, as she took a sip of her beer. Steve gives her a wink, "An Agency or Law Enforcement Agency would be stupid to not recruit you". Lori felt weak in her knees, & blushed in response, when he did it.
"Thank you for saying that, Steve, It does mean a lot that you believe in me, & that I can do this work", The Ex-Profiler said softly, & refocused on the performance. Steve stared at her, & decided to fix the regret that he had, He knew that he had to make his move, Before it was too late. He had a plan forming in his mind, & knew that it will win her over.
When the performance was over, Steve asked her, "Can I call you ?", She smiled, & nodded, as she texted Steve her new number. She asked, "I was wondering, Would you like to meet for coffee sometime", Steve shot her a dazzling smile, & said, "I would love to". "Good, I will call you with the details", They exchanged kisses on the cheek, & went their separate ways.
Steve was getting ready for bed an hour later, & he couldn't stop thinking about Lori. He knew since she left, He couldn't imagine not having her in his life was not happening. He knew that his past relationships were not making him happy, & he regretted that he didn't tell Lori how he felt about her. But, He will do right her, & be honest, & upfront with her too.
