Harry couldn't help feeling disappointed leaving Mills, Lowback, & Nott. He had hoped to find another point of connection to his family. But he wouldn't work with or trust people who would look down on him for not being a pureblood.
He knew they would have changed their tune if they found out he was Harry Potter, but he didn't want their fake kindness. He wanted a solicitor who would work for Harry Potter, not the boy-who-lived.
Turning onto Innovation Alley, Harry was greeted to another shock. If he didn't know better, he would have thought he had somehow ended up back in muggle London. The alley was as short as the map had indicated. There were only about 10 buildings on either side of the street. However, the shocking part wasn't the size. It was the style of the buildings.
While the other alleys looked like they were built in the 1700's, Innovation Alley could have been a random street in the muggle world. Sure the buildings looked a little rough but their styles were very modern.
The buildings were 2 to 3 stories high, with smooth finishes, and glowing signs that let customers know which floor a business was on. Wondering how he had never noticed these towering buildings before, Harry took a step back out of the alley. The modern buildings disappeared and were replaced with an image of a street very similar to the other alleys.
Well that would explain how he had missed it. He wondered why it was like that. Was the alley a secret? Did they not want people to know what they really looked like? Wizards could be so strange sometimes. Trusting that Goldfeather wouldn't send him anywhere dangerous, Harry headed back down the alley.
Second Horizon Legal Firm was on the first floor of the third building in. Harry took a fortifying breath before entering. The inside looked just as modern and muggle as the outside suggested.
The reception area housed a comfortable looking couch, a modest sized desk, and another stern looking receptionist. Please don't be another rude, judgmental witch Harry thought.
"Can I help you young man?"
Well at least she wasn't calling him boy. "Yes, I need some legal advice and I would like to speak to a solicitor."
Now looking concerned, the receptionist told him to take a seat as she walked behind a wall that was several feet short of the ceiling. Harry had seen similar dividers in offices on the telly.
A few minutes later she stepped back out and beckoned him over. "Mrs. Farley is one of our Jr. Solicitors and is willing to hear you out. I hope she is able to help you." She gave him a small smile as she went back to her desk.
Mrs. Farley turned out to be a lean, dark skinned woman, with braids pulled up into a bun. "Please come in. Lois said that you are in need of legal advice? Depending on the situation, I may be able to help you or point you in the right direction to get the help you need."
Feeling hopeful with this reception, Harry took a seat. "How much will a consultation be ma'am?"
"Don't worry about that right now. Let's see if I can help you first."
"Well, I am looking for a solicitor who is knowledgeable in ancient family and contractual law." Harry said bracing for a reaction like he received from Davis.
Thankfully, all Mrs. Farley did was raise her eyebrow in surprise. "I am relieved that you are not here for a criminal matter." She said leaning back into her chair. "Please explain the situation in which you need help with ancient family law."
"I would like to, but my account manager said that I should have a confidentiality agreement signed before I go into detail." Harry explained fidgeting a little.
"You are turning out to be quite interesting." She said with a little laugh. "Alright, a confidentiality agreement will be 3gs and I change 6gs an hour. Will that be alright?"
"Yes." Harry happily replied, pulling out his key. Second Horizon was shaping up to be a much better choice than the former Potter's solicitors.

After reading through the agreement and finding it satisfactory, with his limited understanding of all the legal jargon that is, Harry signed. Taking the document back Mrs. Farley started to look through it and initial in her spots. When she got to the bottom and saw Harry's signature she gave a little gasp.
To her credit, she kept her composure and only gave him a quick glance before signing it herself. The document gave a little glow like the one in Goldfeather's office and then duplicated itself.
"Well Mr. Potter, you have my full attention. What can Second Horizon do for you that your current firm can't?" Mrs. Farley said, giving him an amused look and handing over his copy.
Harry wasn't sure how to take that statement but forged ahead and spent the rest of the hour explaining his current guardianship situation, his health excluding the magical suppressors like Aurora suggested, his limited understanding of his inheritance, and the basilisk incident.
By the time he was done Harry felt quite exposed. Explaining the Dursleys to the goblins had been awkward but validating when they expressed their disgust with them. Mrs. Farley on the other hand hadn't said anything. She had lost her look of amusement early on but had only given small noises of acknowledgement or asked for clarification as she took notes. Harry wasn't sure if she even believed him or even worse agreed with the Dursley's treatment of him.
Harry had liked her in the beginning, especially after dealing with Edward Davis, but he was starting to think he should have gone looking for another firm.
"Your account manager was right Mr. Potter, we don't usually take on clients such as yourself. However, we have taken a few cases over the years when muggle guardians have proven themselves unacceptable and the muggle child protective services are not able to help. Also, the way you were placed with your relatives was legally questionable." Farley said, leaning back in her seat once again.
"I think the senior partners would agree to take your case, especially when one considers your fame. This will no doubt turn into a high profile case. As for the inheritance and basilisk matters, I will have to put them past the partners. As I said earlier, we usually take on criminal cases targeting the muggle-born community. And I am still unclear on why you aren't using your current representatives?" Farley questioned with a frown.
"Umm… I don't understand what you mean Mrs. Farley. You said something similar earlier but I don't currently have a solicitor. That's why I am out looking for one today." Harry explained feeling annoyed with her accusation.
"Mills, Lowback, & Nott have been claiming you as a client for years Mr. Potter. It is one of their biggest selling points. They have represented the Potter family for years and advertise that Harry Potter comes to them for all of his legal concerns." Farley explained, confusion taking over the apathetic look she had been sporting for the last hour. "Have you recently left them?"
Shocked, Harry exclaimed, "They've been saying what? Today was the first time I heard of them and when I went in they treated me like trash. Granted, they didn't know who I was, but still. If that is how they treat people in general then I don't want to work with them."
Harry couldn't believe it. Those people had the nerve to act all high and mighty when they were sponging off his name. He had half a mind to stand outside of their office and start shouting that he, Harry Potter, wasn't one of their clients, and that they refused to help him when he did go to them. He bet Edward David would be begging for forgiveness after that.
"You don't say." Farley said, getting up. "If you give me a few minutes Mr. Potter, I will go over your needs with one of the senior partners and see what we can do for you." Her face and voice were friendly again. Harry knew he wasn't great with girls but he was starting to think, the older girls got, the more confusing they became. He was not looking forward to dating them.
Thank you for all of the encouraging and insightful reviews. In the next chapter Harry talks to Farley and a senior partner.
