Hey everyone! This is going to be the start of my "retconned" JP/TWD series. The biggest thing I'm retconning, is the timeline. I didn't really like how I set up the timeline of events in the first iteration of the story, so it's now gonna be more in line with the jurassic world timeline of events, which will still make the walking dead timeline a bit later (starting around 2018, but all characters in that show will still have the same age, appearance, etc. the outbreak just starts later. Likely a few months after the Lockwood Manor dinosaur breakout, to better explain how the dinosaurs escaped and ended up in the world. I'll also be making my self insert a little older, making Wu MUCH more proud of himself and kind of an ass like he is in JW and Fallen kingdom, and a few other story element fixes. All the characters I've featured in the first iteration will still be present (i.e: Zach, Nima, Billy, etc.) but maybe with some altered storylines, like Grant will be the age he is in JW Dominion, for example. At any rate, I hope you enjoy the new and improved Jurassic Dead!

Isla Nublar, 2015. Two months before the Incident at Jurassic World, and three years before the outbreak.

Jacob stepped off the helicopter on to the concrete roof of Jurassic World's control center. The shimmering light of the Hammond Innovation center nearly blinding him as the October sun set behind the massive building. He couldn't believe he was actually here. Four long years of studying paleontology had finally brought him to the one place in the world where you could see living, breathing, dinosaurs! When the job offer came through from Masrani Global to work at Jurassic World as a "dinosaur consultant," he couldn't refuse. Jacob could hear the peaceful bellows of sauropods over the horizon as a woman in a casual dress opened the roof top door.

"Mr. Bishopp?" The woman said. Jacob shook himself out of his thoughts.

"Yes? Oh! Yes. That's me!" He said, outstretching his hand. The woman shook his hand with a smile.

"I'm so happy you'll be joining us! My name is Vivian Krill. We most likely won't be working together but I'm so happy to welcome you here! If you'll follow me, I'll take you down to the control room where we'll meet Ms. Dearing," Vivian said, opening the rooftop door. Jacob gave an enthusiastic smile and followed Vivian down into the control room. The two entered a large glass elevator as Vivian swiped her badge on the card reader. The door to the elevator shut and began its descent into the main control room area.

"So, you're a new paleontologist?" Vivian asked. Jacob smiled and nodded.

"I suppose you could call it that! Though, with living dinosaurs, sometimes I wonder if my choice of career is, well, kind of pointless." He said with a shrug. Vivian shook her head.

"I don't think so! There's so much we've learned about them in fossils that our scientists have applied to our assets here," she said with a smile.

"Well, hopefully I can help out in that department," Jacob said, giving a somewhat, uneasy smile back. That word. "Asset," didn't sit right with him. These are living, breathing dinosaurs. Real creatures with very real instincts.

"So the dinosaurs are just another sideshow attraction to these people. Great. Clearly they learned nothing from that first park," he thought. His thoughts were interrupted by the ding of the elevator opening up into the control room. A wide array of monitors, screens, and various devices encapsulated the room. Straight ahead he could see a large digital map of the island with different enclosures highlighted. IT specialists and other personnel, Jacob assumed them to be scientists, went about their daily duties. To the left of the elevator, a man with a mustache and glasses was typing away at his computer as he noticed the two get off the elevator.

"Oh, Viv! Come check this out!" The man said, not even noticing Jacob next to her. Vivian Rolled her eyes and stepped behind him.

"Check out what I found on eBay. A genuine, Jurassic Park shirt. Figure it'll fit the aesthetic of my workspace," he said, not taking his eyes off the screen.

"That seems a bit in poor taste, doesn't it?" Jacob said. The man, suddenly realizing Jacob was there too, looked a bit embarrassed.

"Lowery Cruthers, This is Jacob Bishopp. Our new Asset Consultant," Vivian said, introducing the two men.

"Dinosaur consultant. Jeez," Lowery said, shaking Jacob's hand. Jacob smiled.

"Finally. At least someone here acknowledges that these are animals," he thought.

"Forgot you were starting today. Claire should be here soon. Word of advice, be prepared to hear a ton of corporate and bureaucratic bullshit lingo. Happens a lot around here," Lowery said, sitting back down. Jacob gave another uneasy smile. Truth be told, he was incredibly nervous to be at the one and only Jurassic World. He may be a paleontologist now, but he's only ever worked with dead ones, let alone ever seeing a living one. College made it hard to afford a day trip to Isla Nublar to even think about seeing the dinosaurs. Another ding came from behind them as a woman with bright orange hair dressed in white stepped off the elevator. To Jacob's surprise, she walked right passed them, looking down at a tablet with what looked like a mini-display of the map of the island.

"Claire? This is our new Assest Consultant, Jacob Bishopp," Vivian said, to an almost unresponsive Claire. Jacob felt incredibly awkward as she kept looking down at her tablet. It took her a second, but she finally acknowledged the stranger in the room.

"Hmm? What? Oh! I'm so sorry! It has been an incredibly busy week. We had an injured pachycephalosaurus, Brachiosaurs getting stuck in the vines, and a sick Baryonyx to name a few," Claire said with a flustered, but friendly look on her face.

"No problem at all, Ms. Dearing. I'd imagine caring for dinosaurs isn't like watching a dog," Jacob chuckled lightly.

"You have no idea. And please, call me Claire," Claire laughed.

"I'll leave you two to it," Vivian said with a smile, returning to her desk.

"Thanks, Viv. Could you get an ACU vet to the baryonyx enclosure? She's been sick for a few days now," Claire asked.

"Actually," Jacob said. "Why don't I give you a hand with that? I may not be a vet, but I know a thing or two about dinosaurs. Obviously. I even wrote my thesis on piscivorous dinosaur habitual behavior,"

"You know what? Why not! It'll give you a chance to see what you'll be doing before you start official orientation," Claire said. The two of them boarded the elevator to the ground level. When they stepped outside, Jacob got a much better view of just how massive Jurassic World truly was.

"This place, its- well, amazing," he said, with a smile on his face. Claire gave a warm smile back as Jacob took in the view.

"Welcome to Jurassic World,"

Three Years Later; Six Months after the events of Lockwood Manor. One day before the outbreak reaches Georgia.

"Amazing isn't the word I'd use now," Jacob thought to himself, watching the news reports from his Atlanta hotel of "The first dinosaur born on U.S. Soil." Apparently, the dinosaurs had migrated much farther east from California than anticipated. His mind flashed back to him barely escaping with his life from Isla Nublar after the Indominus Rex broke out. He was lucky that that Owen Grady guy had been there to stop a dimorphodon from mauling him to death. He didn't think he'd ever make it to the evacuation boat. Nor did he think dinosaurs would ever, in a million years, make it off that island. He was just glad to put that whole mess, and Masrani Global behind him. Which struck him as a bit odd that he had agreed to testify in court against Masrani Global. It wasn't all bad though. The UN put him up in a nice cushy hotel in Atlanta before he made the flight to DC to officially testify. A voice called from the hallway near the exit of his room.

"What time is the flight again?" Zachary, Jacob's brother asked him. Jacob was glad that his dad had let his brother tag along for the trip. Even if he hardly saw his dad, it was nice to spend time with his brother.

"10 AM. So we need to be up and out of here early. We're meeting a few others I worked with at Jurassic World there too. You remember miss Claire, right? Once we land, Dad's meeting us in DC to pick you up so I can go to the trial with Claire and a few others," Jacob said. Zach let out a groan.

"Why can't I go with you to the trial? It's not that super secret is it?" He asked. Jacob shut off the tv and sat down on his bed next to Zach.

"Yes. It is. And it's very important, Zach. Especially to the people who Masrani Global hurt. And worse. If I don't testify, there's a chance that they could get away with it," Jacob explained.

"Oh. Well, I still wish we could spend more time together. I miss you," Zach said. Jacob hugged his brother.

"Me too buddy. But hey, you turn eleven next month. I'll come to Boston then and we'll celebrate," he said, giving a smile. Zach's face lit up.

"Now come on. Let's get ready for bed. We've gotta be up early,"

7:00 AM, Day of the Outbreak.

Jacob awoke to the sounds of screaming outside his room's door and the deafening sounds of sirens outside. He pulled back the curtains of the window in a groggy state. On the streets below, all Jacob could see was chaos. Cars on fire, police cordoning off the streets, people being chased by others. He watched a cop gun down a man who jumped on a woman. In a panic, he turned on the tv.

"—are saying to remain indoors and avoid suspicious persons. The CDC has issued a pandemic alert for a majority of the country. This comes just months after dinosaurs reportedly escaped from Lockwood Manor in California."

"Jesus Christ," Jacob said to himself. He turned off the TV and got his clothes on quickly. Zach woke up with a groggy inquisitive look on his face.

"Jacob? What-what's going on?" He asked. Jacob began packing their things frantically.

"Get up and get dressed buddy. Get your shoes on we gotta go," he said, still packing everything.

"Why? Are we late for the airport? What's that screaming?" Zach asked.

"Yeah, we're uh, running a little late. Don't worry about the screaming, it's probably just drunk people," Jacob lied. He didn't want to worry Zach if he didn't need to. Zach started to get his clothes on as Jacob packed up the last of their things.

"What about breakfast?" Zach asked.

"We can get some at the airport. You ready? We need to go," Jacob said, putting his shoes on. Zach nodded and put on his backpack.

"Alright. Stay close to me," Jacob said, holding Zach's hand.

"Why? Because of the drunk people?" Zach asked. Jacob was relieved he'd thought of that earlier.

"Yeah. Drunk people can get crazy. Let's go buddy," Jacob said. He led Zach through the back stairwell of the hotel, to avoid both people, and to bring attention to themselves. Luckily, his rental car was in the hotel's garage, so hopefully, whatever was going on, wouldn't bring looters to the car. The two brothers came out of the stairwell into the parking garage and loaded their things in the trunk of the rental car. As they were leaving the parking garage, a man came charging out of the stairwell they were just in. He looked frail, but was moving rather quickly and was making an odd snarling sound. Jacob locked the doors and sped out of the garage. Outside was not much better. Emergency services were everywhere and people were running and panicking around in the streets. Zach had a scared look on his face.

"We're not going to the airport, are we?" He asked. Jacob looked at him through the rearview.

"No. We're not,"

End of Prologue

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed this new iteration of my story! I think it makes much more sense timeline wise, even if the outbreak doesn't start until another 8 years later (2018 instead of 2010), which isn't as big of a deal, as in the show, I don't believe they explicitly state when the outbreak happens, but let me know if that is not the case. This just makes more sense dinosaur wise, as the old reasoning I had for them being out seemed a bit cliché. Anyway, let me know what you think, and as always, thanks for reading!
