Summary: Gajeel takes things literally too…

Pairings: Gajeel/Levy, some Gray/Gajeel friendship if you squint at it….hard, and some mentions of Gray/Juvia.

YouTube Prompt: A couple tribute, any pairing, to 'Scotland' by The Lumineers.

It was another evening in Fairy Tail and despite the guild being almost empty, Gajeel was performing his usual rock star act (which was probably why the guild was almost empty). After a finally ear-splitting wail as he tried to hit a high note and a screech on his guitar, Gajeel bowed.

"Thank you," he said deeply into the microphone as only Levy clapped, "thank you very much."

"Urgh!" Gray groaned disgustedly when Gajeel finally put his guitar down, jumped off the stage, and joined them at the bar for a drink. "I don't know why you bother trying. Your singing sounds like a strangled cat and your guitar playing isn't much better."

"Shows what you know," Gajeel snorted, "I was awesome up there. Besides," he smirked, flashing all of his teeth, "the chicks totally dig the whole Rock Star thing. Gihihi"

"Pfft!" Gray snorted derisively, "like you know how to pick up girls!" he sneered.

Gajeel's face darkened at that. "I do too!" he growled in protest.

"Yeah right," Gray rolled his eyes, "you and Natsu are made from the same cloth….unbelievably stupid and tactless. You'd never be able to pick up girls in a bar."

"I can pick up any girl, anywhere, whenever I like," Gajeel snarled as he glowered at Gray. "Just watch me freezer pants."

"Go on then," Gray jeered.

Gajeel smirked before he swaggered right up to Levy. Levy, who sensed Gajeel the moment his shadow loomed over her, looked up from her book and smiled sweetly in greeting but before she could utter a single word, Gajeel suddenly reached out and grab her by the back of her dress before he lifted her up. "Yoink!" he said gleefully as he held up Levy high in the air. "Consider yourself picked up," he informed Levy.

Gray face palmed at that. "THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT BY PICKING UP GIRLS!" he bellowed.

"GAJEEL!" Levy shrieked as she squirmed against Gajeel's hold. "LET ME GO!"

"Gihi," Gajeel sniggered at Gray, "you're just jealous 'cause I picked up the hottest girl in the room," he informed Gray with a smirk. Levy, instantly flattered at the compliment, relaxed in Gajeel's hand and stopped fighting as her cheeks flushed a bright pink. "Now excuse me but I have a girl to spend the night with unlike you."

Gray spluttered indignantly as Gajeel strolled out with Levy flung over his shoulder like a caveman.

Of all the nights for Juvia to be away it had to be this one.

Gray was now a laughing stock (to the three other people that were still around) while Gajeel actually almost looked suave.

Life was unfair.
