disclamation: I do not own the 'Digimon Adventure' or the 'Digimon Adventure 02' or any other 'Digimon' anime or manga in any way, shape, or form. I also do not own 'Cinderella'. the only storyline which I truly own is the one from this fanfiction.

Back in the attic at the chateau, Sora searches for a suitable dress to wear to the ball and remembers that her mother, Toshiko, had left her a long cheongsam that although pretty to look at, looks a tad too dated to count as fashionable in the current generation.

Sora Takenouchi: I guess I could always go with my mother's old cheongsam dress. It may be a little old-fashioned, but it's still pretty, nonetheless. I'll just need to make a few adjustments to it.

She then reaches into the chest where it lies, only to find it gone.

Sora Takenouchi (continued): Where is it? Where? Where is my mother's cheongsam?

She then spots Jun holding her mother's own favorite cherry red cheongsam to her body, posing it.

Sora Takenouchi (continued): What are you doing with my mother's dress and her shoes, Jun?

Sakura Motomiya: Oh, come now, 'CinderSora'. You had to have seen this coming. Did you really think that we would actually be foolish enough to dare be seen with a servant girl at the ball?

Sora Takenouchi: You gave me your word that I could go, too. And now, you're reneging on it? How could you?

Jun Motomiya: You're just jealous that this cheongsam from your chest in the attic would look so much better on me, 'CinderSora'.

Sora Takenouchi: That cheongsam from my chest is my mother's, and so are these shoes.

Sora then holds up the cherry red oriental shoes that go with her mother's cheongsam.

Jun Motomiya: Yes, and she's dead.

Sora then decides that she has put up with her stepfamily's cruelty long enough.

Sora Takenouchi's thoughts: Forgive me for this, mother and father.

That is when Sora punches Jun across the jaw and chases her down to take back her mother's shoes and cheongsam dress by force if she has to.

Sora Takenouchi: I'm gonna rip that awful mane you call hair right off of your head when I catch up to you.

When Sora finally catches up to Jun, however, she is stopped short from going through on what she said she would do to her. Jun is holding up a book, but not just any book. It is her father's favorite book from when he was alive, 'The Stuff of Legends'.

Jun Motomiya: Gimme the shoes and the dress, or the book goes into the fire.

Sora Takenouchi: You wouldn't, Jun.

Sakura and Leilani suddenly arrive on the scene to witness what is currently happening.

Sakura Motomiya: Think, 'CinderSora'. Your mother's shoes and dress or your father's book, although neither will spare you of a whiplashing.

Sora faces a terrible choice, no doubt, but in the end, she chooses her father's book and gives the shoes for her mother's dress to Jun, only for Jun to also go back on her word and throw Haruhiko's favorite book into the fire, anyway.

Sora Takenouchi: NO!

Sora tries to rescue her father's favorite book from the fireplace, but Sakura stops her just to escort her to be whipped.

Later after Sora has received her whiplashing, Sakura and Jun are overjoyed at what they had just done to their servant and walk out of the room just long enough to laugh about Sora's new condition.

Leilani Motomiya: I think that might've been a bit harsh, mother, Jun… even for the two of you.

Sakura Motomiya: You always were far too heavy on honor and compassion, Leilani.

Jun Motomiya: It happened not long after we first moved to this backwater, mother. Leilani became concerned about the welfare of others as soon as we met 'CinderSora' and her father.

Sakura Motomiya: Since you're so concerned about 'CinderSoot's' recovery, however, you can tend to her injuries alone, Leilani.

With that, Sakura and Jun finally left Sora well enough alone just long enough to receive treatment for the wounds from her whiplashing by Leilani's bandage wrapping.

Leilani Motomiya: You know, Sora. You really did bring this on yourself, you know. You're usually very tolerant of my mother and sister. That horrid behavior was the type of thing I would normally expect from the two of them. I've actually grown to expect far better from you.

Although it is true about Leilani's expectations of Sora, it still counts as rubbing salt into the wounds on the poor redhead's heart. So much so that she actually begins to cry from something besides the whip marks on her back.

Sora Takenouchi: You're right, Leilani. I don't know what could have gotten into me with that hideous display.

Leilani Motomiya: I think I might just know exactly what got into you when it happened…

Sora is at first a bit skeptical of Leilani's claim.

Sora Takenouchi: Oh, really now, Leilani. What do you think could have gotten into me with that horrible display downstairs if anything?

Leilani Motomiya: Well, it's just that I think that Jun and my mother might have finally done something that even you couldn't so much as tolerate from them, and perhaps it made you finally wanna strike them back. Especially Jun… I never will forget the way her feet always seemed to go up over even her head, as arrogant as she can be.

Sora and Leilani actually share a giggle at this joke at Jun's expense. Leilani then says something else that makes Sora feel even a little bit better about being out of line and out of character for the first time in her life.

Leilani Motomiya (continued): Jun really shouldn't have said that about your mother.

Sora Takenouchi: Thank you, Leilani. Since my father's death, you've been the only one other than the remaining servants that has been nice enough to me in return for it to matter.

Leilani holds out her hand to Sora if only to pull her up from her position on the bed.

Leilani Motomiya: Now, I think you should get some work done before the ball, especially if you wanna go and see your friend.

Sora Takenouchi: Why are you reinviting me to the ball? Didn't Jun and your mother say…

Leilani Motomiya: They always say those kinds of things to me. It's not like I need to worry about what they think of such an idea, since I'm not even going to meet the prince, either. At least, you would have something to look forward to at the ball besides just the food.

Sora cannot help but chuckle sympathetically at Leilani's fate for her mother's grand plan involving the royal ball.
