Summary: Because I wouldn't be surprised if Mashima ends the Gray the Demon Slayer Vs END battle the same way he ends all Gray Vs Natsu battles.
Pairings: Juvia/Lucy friendship, implied Gray/Juvia, and Erza/Natsu/Gray friendship.
YouTube Prompt: Gray/Natsu/Zeref tribute to 'Lonely Train' by Black Stone Cheery (because come on guys, you can't win a war fighting with your brother).
Juvia and Lucy clung to one another as they tried their best not to cry and think of a way to end this stupid carnage. They had seen Gray and Natsu fight before, they had seen them destroy things in their anger towards one another, and neither of them would say that Gray and Natsu were the best of friends really, but nonetheless they had never seen Gray and Natsu actually try to kill one another before.
They were both not in their right minds, Gray, for some reason, refused to believe that Juvia was alive and well, and Natsu didn't even seem to know who he was anymore, and therefore none of Lucy's or Juvia's begging, reasoning, out right angry retorts, could reach them as they seemed to determined that one or the other should die before the battle was over.
"I will kill you, demon," Gray's voice was unnaturally icy as his hands glowed blue with magical power, "I will end you for stealing my happiness. For Juvia."
"Gray-sama!" Juvia wailed. "I'm right here! Don't! That's Natsu-san! Our friend!"
"Give it your best shot," Natsu growled as his own hands were aflame, "Slayer." He said it as if it was a dirty insult and not a way he, himself, used to identify himself."
"STOP IT!" Lucy screamed. "STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT!"
She was ignored entirely as the two boys (could she even call them that anymore? They both seemed so inhuman and unlike themselves) threw their magic at one another. Ice met fire and they struggled against one another, fire pushing ice back, and ice pushing fire back, and the pair was equally matched, and then, and then -
And then a sword flew out of nowhere and missed Natsu's hair by a breath before it collided into a nearby wall and went right through it.
Natsu and Gray froze as their magic evaporated into nothing.
"Gray…." A cold distinctive voice echoed behind the Demon Slayer. Immediately Gray stiffened as his eyes bulged out in fear. "Natsu…." Terror entered Natsu's eyes as the demonic aura he had been releasing suddenly went out like a candle in the wind. "Are you two fighting again?!"
Slowly, fearfully, Gray and Natsu turned their heads, Lucy could have sworn she heard their necks creak under the strain of moving so slowly, and terrified, high-pitched, squeaks left their lips as they took in the petrifying sight of Erza Scarlet. Her clothes were ripped up and muddy, her body carried bruises, scratches, and cuts from previous battles, and there was an obvious limp as Erza moved closer and closer towards them, but none of this, absolutely none of it, diminished the utterly terrifying aura of demonic fury that Erza released or the murderous expression of rage on her face.
"Our guild is fighting for their lives and instead of helping them out," Erza took a deep, shuddery, breath as she barely restrained her anger. Her body was trembling in the effort. "You decided to fight between yourselves?" a demonic gleam appeared in her eyes. "YOU SELFISH BASTARDS!" she screeched. "I OUGHT TO GUT YOU FOR YOUR STUPIDITY AND CHILDISHNESS!"
"We're not fighting!" Natsu squeaked.
"Of course we're not!" Gray added hastily. "We're the best of friends, see?"
They immediately wrapped their arms round one another and dance up and down. "Aye Sir!" they chorused together. "Best friends forever!"
Erza eyed them suspiciously. "I suppose I can give you the benefit of the doubt just this once," she said coolly and immediately the two slumped in relieve, "but if I find you two fighting each other and not the enemy that is currently attacking our home then I will make you both wish you were never born." She shot the two of them her most terrifying glare that promised a bloody murder where they would never find enough pieces of the body. "Do you understand me?" she hissed.
"AYE SIR!"
(Meanwhile the remaining Spriggan 12 members that had been watching either sweat-dropped or face palmed. "These two guys are considered a threat….how?" one asked incredulously.
The others shrugged in reply. "Dunno," one replied, "but the Lady Erza is definitely one. You know what they say…like mother, like daughter."
Everyone gulped in fear.)
