She was done being absolutely furious after she finished hacking the twenty eight trees to pieces. She was surrounded by a sea of pale wood chips, the trees were shattered beyond any use, and yet she was still at a complete loss.

She dropped her axe and fell to her knees and let out a wretched sob.

She didn't even know who she was anymore.

She, Nashi Dragneel, didn't know who she was anymore.

Everything she thought she knew, everything she thought to be true, all turned out to be one giant lie. She wasn't the daughter of a Dragon Slayer….she was the daughter of a demon, and not any old demon either.

No, she was the daughter of END, Zeref's most terrifying and destructive creation. The demon that she believed to have died along with all the others in that final battle. The monster that so many were scared of.

It was no wonder the last lot that kidnapped her kept her in chains and chucked a load of holy water in her face.

It was all so muddled in her head. Everything, her parents, her uncle, her entire family history, had just been one big, magnificently awful, lie.

Her parents had lied to her.

We didn't lie, her mother protested desperately when they had argued, we just….didn't say anything. But Nashi this changes not-

Nashi didn't let her mother finish before she stormed out (ignoring both of her parents' screams, her friends concern, and the shouts of all the Fairy Tail adults), slammed the door, and marched all the way to Tenrou Island, as far away from everything as she could be, before she finally let out the scream of rage that had been strangling her throat.

And now her anger was gone and she was just….lost.

CRUNCH!

Nashi whirled round to see Aunt Mavis standing before her. She was barefooted and wild looking as always but her usually sweet face was sharpened into something akin to disapproval and her jade green eyes were icy.

Nashi blinked at her as the last of her tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Are you done?"

Nashi rubbed her face furiously and turned her back on her aunt. "I don't want to talk!" she snarled crossly as she crossed her arms and fought back the urge to pout like a five year old.

Nashi refused stubbornly to not turn around as she heard Aunt Mavis walk towards her. the wood chips crunched painfully again and again under the sole of her bare foot but Nashi never heard her utter even a murmur of pain before the small, blonde, woman sat down beside her cross-legged with a pleasant smile on her face.

"That's fine," her aunt said cheerfully, "in fact that's perfectly fine, because I came to talk to you. So you can keep on not talking to me while you listen to what I say."

Nashi spluttered in frustration. "Go away!" she snapped furiously, unable to think of

"It changes nothing," Aunt Mavis said conversationally, "you know."

"Like hell it doesn't!" Nashi whirled round furiously. "Like hell!" she spat out. "They lied to me. My parents lied to me. About Zeref. About my family. About Dad. He isn't what I thought he was. I'm not who I thought I was!"

"That's the problem isn't it?" Aunt Mavis said knowingly. "Not that they didn't tell you, not that your father is a demon, but the fact that you no longer know who you are."

"I know what I am," Nashi said despairingly, "I'm an abomination."

"You are not!" Aunt Mavis snapped. Nashi shrugged at her and looked down at her hands. She didn't know what she was anymore but she was pretty sure it wasn't human. "No," Aunt Mavis said sternly as she grabbed Nashi's shoulders and forced the girl to look up at her. "Listen to me, you Nashi Dragneel, are not an abomination," she said it firmly, "Whatever you do in life do not give those narrow-minded fanatical psychos power over you. You are you. And that's a pretty wonderful thing to be."

Nashi shoved her aunt's arms away from her. "I don't even know what that is anymore!" she yelled tearfully. "I thought my parents were amazing guild mages not….not…not all that." She sniffled pitifully and angrily rubbed her eyes as they were filled with tears again. "Fuck!" she sobbed.

There is a horribly long, drawn out, silence as Nashi cried for what felt like the hundredth time that day, and Aunt Mavis sat there calmly with a tissue at hand for Nashi to blow her nose into.

"….do you know that Celestial Spirits and Mages were mistaken for angels long ago?" Aunt Mavis asked eventually.

"What does that have to do with anything?" Nashi asked impatiently.

"Just answer the question"

"No, no I did not know that," Nashi said irritably. "Why?" she asked rudely. "Because calling my mother an angel isn't going to make the fact that my Dad is a demon any better."

"Demons and angels had children together before," Aunt Mavis stated coolly. Nashi's jaw dropped at that. She never heard of demons and angels having relationships before. "They were beautiful, clever, cunning, mischievous creatures that were both good and bad, who did kind things, and naughty things," a sly, mischievous, gleam appeared in her eye, "and do you know what people called them?"

"No."

A cheeky grin blossomed onto Aunt Mavis' face. "Are you not even going to guess?" she teased.

Nashi's eye twitched irritably as she lost her temper. "Just tell me!" she snapped.

"Fairies," Aunt Mavis said quietly and solemnly, "the children of angels and demons were called fairies. That's what you are Nashi Dragneel, that's what you've always been, and always will be."

Nashi blinked back some more tears (oh goddamnit she was so sick of crying!) as she flung her arms round Aunt Mavis. "Thank you….just," her voice caught in her throat as she struggled to find the right words. "….thank you," she breathed out.

Aunt Mavis' wrapped her arms round Nashi as she hugged he back fiercely, one hand reached up and patted Nashi firmly but gently on the head. "You're quire welcome," she murmured back.

When Nashi returned to Hargeon's port she was surprised to find Ur cooling leaning against a wall as he waited impatiently for her. Momentarily she was stunned at the sight of him standing there. After all he had no idea when she would have come back, and actually, he had no idea that she would be here.

But then again it shouldn't really surprise her. Ur Fullbuster was always a friend first, and an irritating shit later. He knew her better than anyone other than Gilly and would have known where to look and have the goodness and patience and loyalty to wait for as long as it took.

He caught sight of her before she could do or say anything and gave her a wary smile as he tried to assess her mood. "Hey," he greeted her nonchalantly.

She tried to smile back but it came out as a grimace. She was still all so raw and exhausted from her emotional, never-ending, breakdown. "Hi," she replied back nervously.

There was a moment of silence as she avoided his all-knowing, soul piercing, gaze.

"You all right now?"

"…yeah," Nashi mumbled and then she actually smiled as she realised she truly was. "Yeah I am," she said much more loudly and confident. "I just….needed to figure out who I am."

"Oh yeah?" Ur blinked. "And what's that?"

"I'm a fairy," Nashi declared.

Ur blinked again and then snorted. "Could have told you that yonks ago," he rolled his eyes. "God," he drawled out, "you're such a blonde"

Nashi turned bright red with annoyance at that. "What does that mean?!" She snarled furiously.

"You know exactly what it means," Ur said unfazed, an evil smirk plastered on his face, "or did your trip to Tenrou cause you to lose a few more precious brain cells?"

"Why you little-"

They spent the whole journey home arguing.

It will be awkward, and painful, to confront her parents again after her own behaviour and all of these secrets suddenly out in the open.

But it was all right because she can handle it just like she has handled every other challenge put before her.

She is, after all, a fairy.

She was still Nashi Dragneel.
