Learning New Things
Mary opened her eyes and looked up. She smiled to herself when she saw her Huntsman's sleeping face. She moved herself slowly upwards to be able to kiss him on the cheek. Mary smiled to herself, and slowly moved out of the bed. She made her way to the closet. Opening the door; Mary looked over the clothes. She smiled wide as her eyes spotted the dress that her love had made her. Mary grabbed the dress, and held it up to her chest. With narrow brows; she could smell the scent of soap. 'Papa must have told my brothers to wash my dress for me.' She thought to herself. Mary turned to walk to the bathroom.
She softly closed the door behind her. Placing the dress down; Mary took off her nightgown. After her clothes were off; she moved over to the tub, and started the water. She smiled as she felt the hot water run over her hand. Mary turned off the water when it was high enough in the tub. Getting into the water slowly; Mary sat down and sighed a happy sigh. It had been a long time since she had been able to take a bath without putting on 'a show' for anyone. She reached over and grabbed the soap and started to clean herself. Once she was nice and clean. Mary leaned back and closed her eyes as she enjoyed the hot water. Her eyes snapped open when she heard the door to the bathroom open slightly.
"Mary are you in there?" She heard her loves rough voice.
"Yes Peter." Newkirk walked in and saw his love in the bath. He smiled to himself and closed the bathroom door.
"That better be hot water." He told her as he walked over toward the tub. Mary smiled and nodded her head.
"It is, I wanted to take a… Peter what are you doing up without help. If you wanted to take a bath; you should have told me, and I could have helped you." As Mary said the second part; she moved to get out of the tub to help her love, but stopped when Newkirk told her.
"Mary, I don't need help. I am able to get up and walk around now. Besides Tad looked at my wounds yesterday and said that I don't need the sling anymore." He said with a loving smile. Mary looked away unsure about what her love had said.
"I know that he told you that you were alright to walk around, but I don't want you to reopen your wounds again." Newkirk smiled as he went to sit down beside the tub. Mary moved to get out of the tub again.
"Peter if you would wait; I will help you down." Newkirk smiled and told her again.
"Mary, I am sitting down on the bathroom floor; not fighting a tank." He said as he sat down. Mary narrowed her eyes at him; then told him.
"Alright, but I will help you up though." Newkirk went to tell his love that she didn't have to do that, but gave in.
"Alright… you can help me up." Mary raised a brow and said.
"You gave in awful quick." She said while leaning back into the hot water again.
"I did… mostly because I knew that you would win in the end." He told her as he turned his body to face her. Mary smiled at what her love had said.
"And how do you know that I would win… I would, but how did you know?" She asked him with a giggle. Newkirk smiled and told her.
"Well there are three reasons; one you are like your father in that way. He can't let anything go, and will bug the hell out of someone until they fold. The second reason is; that you have me wrapped around your finger. If you told me to fight a tank; I would do it. And the last one is that… you are so much like your father; that I really don't want to fight you on it." He said with a smile. Mary raised up her arm and pointed her finger at him.
"You said that one twice." Newkirk smiled and replied.
"You are like him… Little Robert." Mary laughed lightly at her love's words. She then said what her inner voice was telling her to say.
"Don't tell me you are like George, and that you are using me because you are in love with my father." Newkirk's eyes widen at this.
"No! I love you! I love Robert, but that is more of a brother kind of way… and you are pulling my leg, aren't you?" He asked as he saw a large smile come to his love's lips halfway threw what he was saying.
"I am... I know that you love me Peter. I was only teasing you is all… But I guess I went too far with that… didn't I?" She asked him. Newkirk smiled at her and shook his head.
"In a way, but I am glad that you are acting more yourself now. But I have to say that was a good one though." He said raising up his hand and pointing a finger at her. Mary smiled at him; then saw worry come to her Huntsman's eyes.
"Peter what is it?" She asked him. Looking deep into his loves snowy blue eyes; he told her.
"Mary, if I ever do anything that reminds you of George… Please tell me, and I will stop whatever I am doing." Mary nodded her head at her loves request.
"Peter, you are nothing like George. George was like a…" She tilted her head to the side, and thought on the right words to say.
"George was like a time bomb. There were times that he would go off, and there were times that he didn't. He was actually kind of nice to me in the beginning." Newkirk narrowed his brows at this.
"He was?" He asked her. Mary nodded her head; then told her love.
"Yes, he was. Lizzie would yell at me all the time. George would hear her yelling at me and come in and tell her to stop. She would get so angry at him, and would ask him why he didn't hate me like she did. He would tell her that he was not like her, and that she had no right to do that. He would then take me by the hand and take me into his study…"
"What did he do to you in there?" Her love asked wanting to know.
"He would take me in there and pull a chair up beside his desk. He would give me a book to read, or he would help me with my writing. He did teach me how to read and write."
"He did?" Newkirk didn't think that the man that he had fought nine days ago would have done that. Mary nodded her head and said.
"Yes, he did. I told you that Lizzie would yell at him and tell him that he was no count, and that he started hitting her." Newkirk nodded his head.
"Yes, you did." Mary sat up and pulled her legs up to her chest, and laid her head on her knees. As she wrapped her arms around her legs; she spoke.
"Well he started doing that after I first met Papa; then it was when I was seven is when he changed…"
"How did he change?" Mary looked at her love when he asked her the question.
"Well, I remember that it was George's birthday, and Lizzie was cooking him supper. I walked in to help her, but she told me to go away; that the food was for only George. She was cooking him a steak. After the steak was done, and was in the plate; she reached over and grabbed a bag. She took out what looked like to be some kind of mushrooms. She placed them on the steak and turned toward me. She smiled an evil smile and told me that George would hate me now… After he ate his food, and she started talking to him; he did start to hate me. He wouldn't hit me; just yelled at me at first… But over time it got worse. I was ten when he started to rape me, but I do have to say that when I look back on him; I do remember the good side of him." Mary smiled at her love at the end. Newkirk smiled a small smile.
"I thought that you only remembered all the bad that he had done to you?" He asked her. Mary glanced over toward him.
"I do, but after George died; I do remember all the good he has done. I now know why he did what he did… and that he was not really himself. He was in love with Papa, and tried to turn me into him… Well at least I have the good memories of him." She smiled wide as she lowered her legs. Newkirk nodded his head at this and smiled as well.
"True you do." He watched his love let out a sigh; then say.
"Well I better get out and make breakfast. I don't want Uncle to leave camp with an empty stomach." She said with a smile and pulled the plug to the tub. Newkirk looked away toward the floor, and smiled to himself. He looked back over when he heard his love stand up in the water. He smiled a large smile when he saw his love standing in the tub. Mary got out of the water, and grabbed the towel that she had placed beside the tub. As she dried herself off; she could feel his eyes on her. Mary looked over, and saw her love looking her up and down. She smiled wide and asked him.
"And what is that smile for?" Newkirk's eyes made there way up to his loves snowy blue eyes.
"Just loving the view." He said with a large grin; while his eyes took in the beautiful view in front of him. Mary rolled her eyes at him, and dried her hair. Once her hair was dried, she made her way over to her clothes. She reached over and grabbed her undergarments. Newkirk looked at the undergarments, and narrowed his brows.
"Eira, did you make you some more… undergarments?" He asked her. His cheeks redden when he said the word that he really didn't like saying. Mary looked over and smiled at him.
"I did… I made them just for you." She saw his face get even more redder when she said this. Newkirk lifted his head and looked at the green lace undergarments that had a green fabric underneath the lace. 'They looked like the ones that she had on before.' He thought to himself. Mary smiled at him and asked him.
"Do you like them?" She asked him as she walked over to him, and stood in front of him. Newkirk's face turned a deeper red as his eyes looked over his loves body.
"Yes." He closed his eyes and dropped his head when he squeaked out his answer. Mary smiled and knelt down in front of him.
"Well when you are healed all the way… you can take them off." Newkirk's eyes shot open, and his head snapped up when he heard his love say this. He smiled a large smile that showed his teeth. Mary giggled at her loves reaction. She stood up and walked back over to her dress and picked it up. As she turned to put it on she looked at her Huntsman again and smiled again. Newkirk smiled and narrowed his eyes at her in a playful way.
"You tease." He said with a large grin. Mary put the dress on and smoothed out the fabric. She then walked over to him and helped him up. Once he was standing; Mary leaned up to his lips.
"I like teasing you." Newkirk chuckled, and wrapped his arms around his loves waist.
"And I like it when you tease me." He told her and they both shared a loving kiss.
-MN-
Hochstetter woke up around six in the morning. He had took a shower, and was dressed in his spare uniform that he had brought with him. He was now in the living room looking over the files that he had brought with him. He wanted to make sure that he had brought all of the files that he wanted to. He glanced over toward the front door when he heard a knock come from the door. The Major wondered if it was the man that he had once hated. A smile crossed his lips at the thought; that he used to hate hearing Hogan's name, or getting a glimpse of the man. With a shake of his head; Hochstetter waited for the younger man to come in. He had asked Hogan to come over and look over the files one more time. When Hochstetter heard another knock on the door; he raised a brow. He got up from his seat and walked over to the door. He opened the door and saw one of the young guards that had gone with Mary into town on Sunday.
"Corporal Habicht?" The younger man nodded his head at the Major.
"Herr Major, Lady Mary asked me to give this to you." He told him and handed a piece of paper to the older man. Hochstetter took the paper and opened it. He smiled to himself when his eyes read what was wrote down on the paper. 'Lieber süßer Onkel, möchtest du zum Frühstück kommen?' Hochstetter smiled at what he had read; then looked at the handwriting.
"Mary's handwriting looks like calligraphy." He stated. The Major looked up when he heard the younger man speak.
"Yes it does… It's beautiful." Hochstetter and Habicht smiled at each other.
"Go and tell Mary that I will be there in a few minutes." The younger man nodded his head and turned to walk to the small family home.
Hochstetter shut the door and walked back over to the table. He gathered up the files, and took them back to the bedroom. He placed them into his bag, and locked it. The last thing he needed was for someone to come into the VIP Quarters, and find them. After that was done; he walked out of the house and toward the family home. As he walked; Hochstetter thought on something that he wanted to know. 'Who taught her how to read and write? I know her mother didn't; that's for sure, but did Hogan teach her?' Hochstetter walked up the steps of the house, and placed a hand on the doorknob; then dropped his hand. With a smile; he knocked on the door. He smiled wider as he heard Mary tell her love not to get up. The door opened, and the Major smiled when he saw the smiling young woman.
"Guten morgen Onkel." Hochstetter smiled and walked into the home.
"Guten morgen Meine Porzellanperle." Mary raised a brow at this.
"Did you just call me your porcelain pearl?" Hochstetter nodded his head as Mary moved to let him in. As Hochstetter walked into the house; he told her why he had called her this.
"Yes I did. Your skin looks like porcelain; to where whatever you wear will always look beautiful on you, and the meaning of pearl is pure, and you are pure." He said with a large smile. Mary smiled at this and blushed. Hochstetter looked over toward the sofa and saw Newkirk. He raised a brow and smiled.
"You look like you have been placed in time out." Newkirk chuckled at the Major's joke.
"I think I have." He told the older man. Mary walked around the man who she saw as an uncle, and looked at her love.
"Well you were up and walking around, and you would not listen to me; so you are in time out." She told him. Hochstetter's eyes went from Mary to the young man on the sofa.
"Eira, I can get up and move around. Tad said that I could, and I am not in pain like I was nine days ago." The Major raised a brow at this. The two in love looked over toward the oldest man in the room.
"You have healed that much in that short amount of time?" He asked him. Newkirk nodded his head.
"I am a fast healer. I have always been one,… but I know that I can't get up and go on missions though. The last thing I want is to reopen my wounds." The older man nodded his head then spoke.
"Well for now, I think that you should listen to your sweetheart and sit on the sofa." Newkirk smiled and nodded his head. Hochstetter looked over toward Mary who narrowed her eyes at him, but smiled. She turned and walked toward the kitchen to finish making breakfast. Hochstetter smiled and walked over toward one of the chairs that was near the sofa. He sat down, and looked at the younger man.
"Ritter will be coming here around noon. After I leave here; Hogan will be coming back over to the VIP Quarters again. I had asked him to take one more look at the files that I had brought with me." Newkirk nodded his head.
"You must have had a lot on all of us?" The Major nodded his head at this.
"I did. I could have brought all of you in at anytime, but I need to get photos of all of you out of the camp… The papers that Hogan took out of the files; I will put in a folder and give it to him…" Hochstetter looked over toward the doorway that led into the kitchen. Newkirk saw this and looked over as well; then looked back over toward the Major when he heard him speak again.
"The first thing I will do when I get back into town; is go to the jewelers and give them the ring design." Newkirk smiled and nodded his head.
"Danke." Hochstetter nodded his head; then looked over toward Klink's bedroom door as it opened. He saw Hogan walk out of the room. Newkirk looked at his commanding officer; then over toward the Major who had a raised brow. Hogan looked up and saw the slightly older man. A quick smile came to Hogan's lips; while Klink walked out of the bedroom. The older man's eyes were on his uniform jacket that he was fixing.
"Hochstetter… What are you doing here?" Klink's head shot up when he heard his love say the Major's name. He looked over toward the chair that the man was sitting in.
"Your daughter, and my sweet niece invited me to breakfast… Hogan I told you last night that you and Klink have to be more careful." Hogan looked over toward his love when he heard him ask.
"You told him?" Hogan held up his hands, and waved them in front of him.
"No I didn't, he…" Hogan looked over toward the slightly older man and asked. "How did you know that Will and I was together?" Hochstetter smiled and told the youngest Colonel.
"Well I walked into the Kommandantur and heard 'Robert we can't keep kissing like this.'" Klink closed his eyes when the Major said this. All the men looked over when Mary walked out of the kitchen with a plate full of their breakfast.
"You came here to the camp around noon yesterday." She stated as she walked over toward the table. Hochstetter nodded his head as he spoke again.
"Yes I did, and I did lie to the two of you, and for that I am sorry. When I walked into your office Klink; I saw the look of fear on the both of your faces, and thought at that time I would tell you that to easy your nerves." He told them. Hogan smiled at this.
"You had all day yesterday to take us in, and you chose not too?" Asked Klink. The Major nodded his head.
"I wanted to show the both of you… all of you that I meant it when I said that I wanted to switch sides." They all looked over toward Mary when she walked over toward them. Hochstetter stood up when she walked up to him.
"Well that is one way to show loyalty." She said with a smile. The Major smiled at her; then told her the reason behind him wanting to change sides.
"I changed sides because of you Mary." Mary raised a brow at him.
"Because of me?... How did I…" Hochstetter cut in and told her the truth.
"Mary, I was a lot like George, and your mother…" Mary's eyes widen again at what was said.
"What do you mean… you were like them?" Hochstetter lowered his head and told her the truth.
"I used to beat, and do all kinds of horrible things to the men that were brought into Gestapo Headquarters. I did that to them; to get them to talk about something about the war. And a lot of them broke, and were killed… in their cells. I did that to them, or I ordered it to be done to them… The men would be so broken that; they did nothing, but look at the walls of the cells that they were in." Mary watched as tears came to the man's eyes. "I regret all of it… and when I was reading your file on what was done to you… I felt sick to my stomach… I did that to men; grown men, and I broke them. They did nothing; they didn't move, eat, sleep, or even speak… but you… you smile, and laugh, and dream… You are so happy, and you show everyone around you kindness. You smile at everyone around you… You apologized to me for reading about the horrible things that was done to you. You hugged me, and cried for me… like you are doing now." Mary closed her eyes, and let the large tears fall onto her cheeks. She opened her eyes again when the Major went on.
"Mary, your kindness; makes me want to be a better person… And if the only thing I can do in my life now; is to make sure that you are safe, and happy… then I will do that. I may not live past the war, but I will gladly die knowing that I helped you in life… And that you cared for me." Mary raised her hands up to the Major's face, and wiped the tears away that was on his cheeks. She then stepped closer and hugged him tightly. Hochstetter smiled and hugged her back. Hogan, Klink, and Newkirk smiled small smiles; as tears fell from their eyes. Their smiles grew when they heard Mary say.
"I didn't know that I had changed your mind, or that I was the reason for you wanting to be a better person… And I am glad that you want to help me, and I will let you, but…" Mary pulled out of the hug and looked in the Major's chestnut brown eyes.
"But what?" He asked moving his hands up and wiping her tears from her cheeks.
"But I will not let them kill you… Doesn't matter which side it is. I have studied laws from many different countries, and I know there a many ways for you to live, and to stay out of prison too… Papa and Vater know what I am about to say, and so does Grandfather Albert…" Hochstetter and Newkirk listened to what Mary said next.
"I will wade threw a river of blood in hell, and dethrone the devil himself; to keep those I love safe… And I will not let anything happened to you, or to anyone I see as family… You are part of my family now, and if I have to muster up an army; than I will." Hochstetter's and Newkirk's eyes widen at the young woman's words. Newkirk looked away and thought on what his love had said. 'She did kill Betty to keep me safe… What else would she do; to keep all of us safe and alive?' He thought to himself. Hochstetter looked over toward Hogan, and saw the younger man nod his head. They all looked at Mary when she giggled, and looked over toward Newkirk and smiled.
"And I think I know who will be the General of my army." Newkirk raised a brow at this.
"Really? And who would that be?" He asked. Mary smiled wide and said.
"Why you, my handsome Huntsman." Newkirk smiled wide at this; then wiped his tears away. Mary then stepped away from the Major and said in a happy voice.
"We all should eat our breakfast before it gets cold, and I never want to eat cold food again." She said with a smile. Hogan, Klink, and Newkirk who had stood up; started to walk over toward the table. Mary looked at the man that she called uncle, and saw him narrow his brows at her.
"Onkel what is it?" She asked him.
"You used to eat cold food? I know that you had said before; that you couldn't eat until everything was put up, but I didn't think; that you had ate ice cold food." He asked and stated. Mary nodded her head at him and said.
"George and Lizzie wouldn't let me eat until the food was put away, and the dishes were up. By the time I got to my food; it was ice cold." With a smile Hochstetter then said.
"Well none of us can have that happen again." Mary smiled at hearing the man's words. Hochstetter moved his hand out for Mary to take it. Mary smiled at him as she placed her hand into his. Hochstetter then walked her over toward the table.
As they all sat down to eat; Hogan looked at what his daughter had made them. He smiled to himself then reached over and took his loves plate. Klink raised a brow as he watched his loves hand take his plate. The oldest man looked at his young love. Mary smiled when she saw her father fill her Vater's plate for him. She reached over, and started to fill her loves plate. Newkirk smiled at her as she did this. Hochstetter watched the two Colonel's. Once Hogan had filled his loves plate; he then sat it down in front of him. As Klink spoke; Mary took the Major's plate without him knowing it.
"Robert? Why did you…" He didn't get a chance to finish.
"I wanted to do it for my brave phoenix." Klink smiled at his love.
"Well thank you my witty fox." Hogan smiled at his love; then looked over toward the Major who was looking at him with an odd look.
"What? Can't I have a lovey-dovey nickname for my sweetheart?" He asked him with a smile. Hochstetter shook his head and replied.
"I have to get use to all of this." He said with a small smile. His eyes spotted movement to the side of him. He looked over, and saw Mary handing his plate to him. Hochstetter took the plate and started to eat. All the men heard Mary tell them what she had cooked them.
"I hope all of you like the French toast. I have never made it before." She admitted to them. The three men took a bite of their food. Mary watched them to see if they liked what she had made them.
"This is so good niece." Hochstetter told her.
"This is very good." Mary looked over when she heard her Vater's voice. She looked at her father when he spoke next.
"This is damn good… If Newkirk doesn't get fat from your cooking then I know I will." When he said this all there laughed. Mary looked over toward her love and saw him looking at her.
"Peter do you like it?" She asked him; then looked down and saw that he had yet to take a bite of his food. "Peter what is it? You haven't touched your food… Do you not feel well?" She asked. Newkirk shook his head at her then told her.
"You have not taken a bite of yours yet, and I will eat when you do." He told her. Mary smiled and rolled her eyes at him. Newkirk chuckled at his loves action. Mary took her fork and cut her a piece of her food; then looked at him as she took a bite. Newkirk laughed lightly at this. He then cut a piece off as well, and took a bite. He hummed when the flavor of the food hit his mouth. Mary giggled at him.
"I take it that you like it?" She asked him. Newkirk nodded his head at the question.
"I do like it… Do you?" He asked her. All the men there smiled when she said her answer.
"I do like it… actually I think I out did myself." She said with another giggle. As they all ate their wonderful breakfast; Hochstetter remembered on what he was going to ask the young woman.
"Mary." Mary looked at him as she sat her cup of tea down.
"Yes uncle?" Hochstetter smiled at her calling him this.
"Mary, who taught you how to read and write? Was it your father?" The Major looked over toward the younger Colonel when he spoke up.
"No I didn't teach her. Mary could already read, and write some when we first met." He told him.
"George taught her." They all looked over toward Newkirk when he spoke up next. The three older men looked from the young man; to Mary when she spoke up next.
"He did. George taught me how to read and write. He would take me into his study and…"
"He what?" Hogan asked leaning forward. Mary smiled and told him.
"George didn't do anything to me like that until I turned ten, and by then he was very different. Lizzie would yell at me all the time, and George would actually come in and yell at her not to do that. She would always ask him why he didn't hate me like she did. He would tell her that he was not like her. He would then take me by the hand, and take me into his study. There he would help me read, or would teach me how to write. He saw just how quick I was to pick up on things; then he would start to teach me something else. I was four when he started to teach me how to read and write. The day after I first met Papa; is when he started to hit Lizzie, and I knew that she wanted him to hit her too…" Hochstetter's eyes widen at this; then he asked.
"Why would she want him to hit her?" Mary wiped her mouth with her napkin and told him.
"Well Lizzie would push George's buttons; to where he would hit her. Then she would go out and find some poor man to feel sorry for her, and to make everything better. Lizzie would tell George that he was no count, and that he needed to be like Papa. Papa had been jumped up so quickly, and George was still a Major. Lizzie would scream at him, and tell him to do better. She would always tell him that he was not good enough for her. That day he told Lizzie and myself that we were his property, and that he owned us. But I think; now looking back on it… I think he said that to get her under control. But when Grandfather Butler gave Papa the Commanding position of a bomber squad; that George did want, but only to make Lizzie happy. I was ten is when he didn't get it. He came home and called for Lizzie to come to him. Then he told her to bring me to him, and she did. I sat on his lap and he told us that he was our god, and for us to do as told, and to never question it. Now he did say that mostly to me." Mary glanced from Hochstetter to her father who was looking down at the table. Mary sighed and told him.
"Papa… don't be upset. You were the best choice to lead the squad. George was not a leader; he was a follower." Hogan looked up at his daughter and asked what he had to know.
"Is that the first time he…" Mary sighed and nodded her head.
"Yes that was the first time he raped me… but he had changed three years before that." They all looked over toward Klink when he now spoke up.
"What do you mean by he changed?" He asked her. Mary picked up her empty plate, and sat it in the middle of the table as she spoke.
"Well it was after Lizzie fixed him supper one night is when he changed. I was seven then, and I had finished school…" Hochstetter's words cut her off.
"At seven years old?!" He loudly asked. Mary laughed lightly at this.
"Yes, I was seven when I finished school. That was the one thing George really wanted me to finish, and I know that Papa is, and was proud of me too." Hogan smiled at her and nodded his head. Hochstetter looked down at the table with widen eyes. He looked up when Mary started to talk again.
"It was George's birthday, and Lizzie had cooked him supper that night. I had went in to help or to cook, but she told me that the food was for only George. She had fixed him a big steak, and she topped it with some kind of mushrooms that was covered in some kind of white powder; that she took out of a bag…"
"Mushrooms?" Hochstetter asked. Mary nodded her head.
"Yes, it was after he ate his supper is when he started to yell at me, and hate me like she did… But why did you react like that Onkel?" Mary asked him. Hochstetter then told all of them what was found in the car.
"In the car that had been found up the road. The one George had stolen; was dried mushrooms that was covered in a white powder. The mushrooms themselves were mind-altering, but the white powder was called LSD. That is also a mind- altering chemical that is found on fungus that grows on rye and other grains. The mushrooms can only be found in tropical and subtropical regions of South America, Mexico, and the United States… That makes me wonder how your mother got her hands on them?" He asked mostly to himself. All there looked at Klink when he spoke again.
"George had taken pictures of Robert in the United States. So he could have gotten them there, and Lizzie could have tricked one of the men that she was with to get them for her. I had read about LSD and some other mind-altering chemical's when I was in medical school. If she gave him the right ones; then George would have been Lizzie's puppet. She could tell him to do whatever she wanted him to do, and he would do it…"
"Like she was his handler." They all looked over toward Mary when she said this.
"A handler? What is that?" asked Hogan. Newkirk raised a brow at this.
"A handler is a person who trains, or manages another person, or animal. But in this case; it is when someone brain washes someone, and then tells them what to do. The mushrooms and the… LSD?" Mary looked at the Major to make sure she had said it right. When the older man nodded his head; she finished what she was saying. "By Lizzie giving them to George; she could control him, and have him do whatever she wanted… that means that she wanted him to do all of that to me." Mary looked down at the table. Newkirk saw his love close her eyes. He slowly reached his hand over and placed it on hers. Mary looked up at him with tears in her eyes.
"She shouldn't have done that to you, and she is paying for it now." He told her. Mary nodded her head. Klink looked over toward his love, and saw him sitting there with his eyes closed. The older Colonel reached over and placed his hand on the hand of the man that he loved greatly. Hogan opened his eyes and looked at his love. It was Newkirk who knew that he had to get his loves mind off of what she was thinking. He smiled and asked her.
"Mary, how do you know what a handler is?" Mary looked at her love; then over toward the Major.
"Yes I would like to know that as well." He asked with a smile. Mary smiled and told them.
"Well, I did read a lot of books when I was little. I read pretty much every book that I could find on the criminal mind." Hochstetter smiled wide at this news.
"Really?" He asked her. Mary nodded her head; then looked over toward her father when he spoke.
"Hochstetter has studied all about the criminal mind. I'm sure that he can tell you somethings that were not in the books." Hogan smiled when he saw Mary smile one of the largest smiles that she had yet to smile.
"You have?!" She asked loudly. Hochstetter nodded his head with a larger smile.
"Ja I have. I have a large book collection all on the criminal mind; as well as others. All the books I have are in my office." As he spoke; Hochstetter could see the excitement build in Mary's eyes. Still smiling he told her.
"If you want Mary; I can bring some books here for you to read, and then we can talk about them." All the men there smiled and chuckled when Mary yelled out.
"Oh yes please! I would love to read all of them!" Mary then realized how loud she was, and softened her voice; then spoke again. "What I mean is; that I would love to read them, and to be able to talk about them with you." She said with a smile. Newkirk started to chuckle at his loves actions. Mary glanced over toward him, and kicked his boot softly under the table. Newkirk smiled at her after she had done this. She then looked over toward her father when he asked her.
"What other books have you read? I know that you have read a lot of things, but I don't know what all you have read."
"Well, I have read of course many cook books." Mary smiled at this; then went on, and told them all that she had read over time.
"I have also read books on mathematics, engineering, psychology, zoology, and many different law books from different countries. I love to do double translations with many languages. That is my favorite thing to do. I have read history books, and many different manuals on radios, truck engines, and jets. I think I could actually put a jet together if I have too. I even know every single part that goes on a plane as well. I told Laszlo what languages I wanted to learn next." Newkirk asked in a shocked voice.
"And what are those?" Mary looked over toward him, and told him with a smile.
"Well Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Greek, Italian, Thai, and Ancient Egyptian. Mostly when I go to Egypt; I can go in the temples, and will be able to read what is on the walls. I would love to go to all of those places, and see all I can see there." Newkirk smiled at her. Hogan, Klink, and Hochstetter looked at each other and couldn't believe all that Mary had read and still wanted to learn. Mary looked from her love over toward her fathers and her new uncle. She smiled and giggled when she saw the looks on their faces. She looked back toward her love when he spoke to her.
"Well you have to teach me French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Latin and German. I know some German, but not a lot. You have to give me time to catch up with you first. Then if you want… I would love to learn everything that you talked about, and if you want we can learn it all together." Mary smiled at her loves words.
"You would want to learn it all with me?" She asked him. Newkirk nodded his head then told her.
"You teach me all that you know, and I will teach you all that I know." He smiled wide when his love told him.
"I would love to teach you all that I know, and to learn all that you want to teach me." Hogan felt his loves eyes on him. He turned his head, and saw baby blue eyes looking at him with a loving look. Hochstetter's eyes went from the two young loves; to the two older in love. He looked down at the table and thought to himself. 'Someday I will have someone that will look at me with that much love in their eyes.'
"Onkel, are you alright?" Hochstetter looked up at the young woman.
"Yes Meine Porzellanperle." He said with a smile. Klink, and Hogan looked over toward the Major when he said this.
"Did you just call Mary a porcelain pearl?" Asked Klink. Hochstetter nodded his head at this.
"I did. Her skin is like porcelain, and she is as pure as a pearl." He told them. Newkirk looked over, and saw his love blush at this again.
After everyone was done eating; Hogan told the Major that he would be over at the VIP Quarters after he washed dishes. The Major had raised a brow at this. Then looked over toward Newkirk when he told him that Mary cooked, and they did the dishes. Hochstetter smiled then told Mary that he would come back over to the house before he left the camp. Mary smiled at him and hugged him. Hochstetter left the house to go back to the VIP Quarters. After he had left; Mary looked over toward her love who was sitting on the sofa. Newkirk looked up at her and saw her point her finger toward the bedroom. Newkirk sighed at this, and looked over toward Klink who was still standing in the living room. The older man saw the younger man ask for help. Newkirk looked back toward Mary when she spoke.
"Peter you need to go to bed." Klink smiled and walked over toward them.
"Sweet Snow, Peter doesn't have to be in bed all the time now. He is doing a lot better." Mary looked over toward her Vater; then both of them looked at the older man when he added.
"Peter, how about you make the dresses that you were going to make. Hilda and her mother will be coming here, and they can look at the dresses before they go home… If they are not too tired. We do have a lot of paperwork to do, but I'm sure that they would love to see them." Newkirk looked to the side and thought on it. He had forgotten about making the dresses. Mary looked from her Vater, and toward her love. She could see the worry in his eyes and on his face. She smiled and told him.
"I can help you with them; if you want me too." Newkirk looked up at his love and smiled.
"I would like that." They all looked over when they heard Hogan speak.
"Hilda's mother is coming to the camp?" He asked. Klink nodded his head.
"Ja she is. Hilda asked me yesterday if her mother could come and help with the paperwork… And we need as much help as we can get." Hogan smiled at this; then looked over toward Mary when she asked him.
"Is Uncle staying for supper tonight?" Hogan smiled at her when he heard the happiness in her voice.
"No not tonight. Hochstetter can't stay every night. The guards and some outside of the camp might think he is acting differently. Then they might think that he is an underground agent… which he is now, but we can't have anyone think that." As he spoke; Hogan saw Mary's smile fall. Hogan walked over and hugged her.
"You like having him around; don't you?" He asked her. Mary looked up at her father and smiled again.
"I do. He is sweet, and I like spending time with him." Hogan smiled down at his daughter.
"He likes spending time with you too." Mary smiled wide at this.

Near Barracks 2; Carter and LeBeau were washing their clothes. Carter looked up to see the Major walking from the house and toward the VIP Quarters. Hochstetter saw the young man looking at him, and he nodded his head. Carter nodded his head back, and watched the older man walk by. Carter looked over toward LeBeau who had seen it all, and saw his small friend look at him with wide shocked eyes.
"Did you see that?" Carter asked.
"Oui I did. Mon Colonel said that Hochstetter was really on our side now." LeBeau said in a low voice. Carter raised a brow at this.
"When did he say that?" Asked the young Sergeant. LeBeau looked over toward the door when Kinch walked out; then back over toward the young man.
"He said it last night when he and Hochstetter had gotten back from the meeting." Said the small Frenchman. The three looked over when a car pulled up to the gates. They all watched the guards wave at who was in the car; then opened the gates. The two men stopped what they were doing when the car pulled up to the Kommandantur. Schultz smiled at the driver, and opened the door for them. Hilda got out of the passengers side of the car, and waved at the three men. The three waved at her as Schultz got into the car, and drove the car to the side of the building. Then the three saw the other woman who had been hidden by the car. Hilda walked over toward the other woman and said something to her. The unknown woman turned around, and looked at the men who were looking at her. The woman had the same bright blonde hair as Hilda did. The green dress that she was wearing looked amazing on her. 'That dress looks like it is made out of the same fabric that Mary's dress is made out of.' Kinch thought to himself. Kinch felt his heart race at the sight of this woman who seem to be in an eye lock with him now. As the woman waved at the men; she smiled a sweet smile. The men waved back, but Kinch smiled a large smile. He didn't hear what Carter and LeBeau were talking about.
"Who is that? She is beautiful." Carter asked and stated.
"Oui elle est belle." Said LeBeau. None of them saw Hogan walk up to them. He smiled at his friends, and looked over toward Hilda, and the woman who was her mother.
"I see that all of you have seen Hilda's mother." LeBeau jumped when he heard his Commanding Officers voice. Carter looked over and asked.
"That is Hilda's mom? How old was she when she had Hilda… ten?" He asked out of shock. Hilda's mother looked to be near the same age, or just a few years older than Kinch. Hogan smiled and told his young friend.
"Hilda told me awhile back; that her mother was young when she had her." Hogan then turned and walked into the Barracks. Carter and LeBeau saw this and asked him.
"Where are you going?" LeBeau got out his words before Carter could. Hogan walked over to them and told them.
"I am going back over to the VIP Quarters. Hochstetter wanted me to come over, and look at the files again." He told them and walked back into the building again. Carter glanced over, and saw Kinch still looking at Hilda's mom. Carter looked over and saw Hilda's mom still looking at his friend. She looked over toward her daughter when she said something to her; then looked back at one of the three. The older woman turned and walked up the steps to the Kommandantur. The woman would look behind her to get a few more looks at Kinch. Kinch smiled wide at this.

Hilda walked over to her desk and sat down her bag. She then turned toward her mother and took her bag as well. Her mother looked at her daughter's desk with a frown. She glanced over to the open door when her daughter moved closer to the door. With a sigh now at seeing the amount of paperwork that had to be done; she then followed her daughter into the Kommandant's office. Hilda knocked on the open door, and told the older man within the room that they were there. Hilda's mother watched her daughter's boss walk over to them. He smiled at them both as Hilda introduced her mother to the older Colonel.
"Herr Kommandant this is my mother Regina." Klink looked over and shook the woman's hand.
"It is nice to meet you Frau Kaspar." Regina smiled at the older man.
"It is nice to meet you as well Herr Oberst… and it is Fräulein. I am not married." She told him while they dropped their hands.
"Oh I didn't know that; I am sorry." He told her with a smile. Regina waved her hand and told him.
"It's alright. Hilda's father was not much of a man. He was a smooth talker with a lot of women and girls." Klink raised a brow at this as Hilda closed her eyes.
"Mutter please don't start." She asked her. Regina looked over toward her daughter.
"What? It's true. Your father charmed many, and slept with a lot more. He told me that we would get married, but he went with one of the other women that he was seeing at the time. I was only thirteen when I gave birth to Hilda, and he was no where to be found." Klink raised a brow at this.
"How old was he?" He asked her. Regina sighed and told him.
"He was nineteen at the time." The older man in the room sighed, and looked down at the ground.
"I am sorry for that Fräulein Regina… I really am. A man that does that; is not a real man. As well as a man that uses someone's child to be in their sick mind with the one that they want to be with; is also not a man." Hilda looked down at the ground at the older man's words. She knew that he was talking about Mary.
"No they are not, but I have a feeling that you are talking about someone else." Klink looked up to see Regina looking at him with narrowed brows. He nodded his head and told her.
"I am, I am talking about my sweet daughter Mary… Well she is not my daughter by blood, but I see her as my daughter though. She is Colonel Hogan's daughter. Colonel Hogan is the senior POW officer here in Stalag 13. His daughter was sent here not too long ago. Her step father was after her and was trying to kill her." Regina's eyes widen at this. As Klink told her the main reason why Mary was here, and what all had happened; Regina stood there with widen eyes and an open mouth. After the older man got done telling her what all had happened; Regina spoke.
"That poor girl… Well at least she is here with those that love her and want to keep her safe." She said with a smile. Klink nodded his head.
"Yes we all want to keep her safe, and Mary is a wunderbar young lady. You will meet her later on today; I say that she will be bringing all of us lunch." He said with a smile. Regina smiled at this.
"Well I can't wait to meet her." She said with a sweet smile.

Hogan walked threw the tunnels toward the VIP Quarters. He reached the ladder and started to climb upwards. He moved the stove out of the way, and climbed out of the whole. Once he was out of the entrance of the tunnel; he moved the stove back in place. Hogan looked over to see Hochstetter staring at him with widen eyes. The younger man watched the slightly older man's eyes go back to normal, and smile a small smile. With a shake of his head; the Major moved his hand out toward a pushed out chair. Hogan smiled and walked over to the chair and sat down. Hochstetter handed Hogan the first file to read threw. After Hogan had read the first file; he sat it to the side. He took the next one that was being held up for him, and looked threw it.
After Hogan had read all the files; he leaned back in his chair as Hochstetter gathered the files in his hands. Hogan looked at the slightly older man, and thought on what the other man had told him last night. With a heavy sigh that was heard by the oldest man in the room; Hogan finally spoke about what they had talked about the other night.
"Hochstetter… you asked me last night to tell you why I didn't take Mary in… and I do want to tell you why." As he spoke the Major sat the files on the table, and sat down in the chair that was in front of the younger man.
"I have to admit Hogan; that I had wondered why you didn't take her in." He admitted. Hogan sighed again and started to tell the man in front of him. As Hogan spoke; Hochstetter's eyes widen at what was being said. He couldn't believe what the man that he had once hated had been threw. Once Hogan had told the Major the whole story; he waited for the man to ask his questions. Hochstetter leaned back into his chair, and asked the first question that he wanted to know.
"Hogan did you really kill your father?" Hogan nodded his head.
"I did. He was trying to kill the only person that ever gave a damn about me, and just wanted to protect me… I couldn't let him kill her. Now I don't mean that Marie didn't get a few good hits in, because she did. But… I couldn't let him kill her, and what he had said to me… I was afraid. I was afraid that I would become him if I had a child. After Lizzie had broke my heart, and when I found out that Mary had been born. Then when I met her… I was still afraid of becoming him. I still am afraid of that. I talked to the doctor that was here in the camp after George had came here. He was the one that saved Newkirk's life… I told him all about this, and he told me to write down what goes threw my head…"
"What goes threw your head?" Hochstetter asked him. Hogan nodded his head.
"Yeah… sometimes when Mary is around; I can hear my father telling me to hit her, or to hurt her in some way. I have to fight his voice in my mind. I know that he is not really there; that it's just my own mind playing tricks on me. Kreizler told me to write down his voice, and what I was to say back to him; that it would help me…"
"And does it help?" The Major asked actually wanting to know. Hogan shrugged his shoulders and said.
"It does to a point, but I am still afraid that I will hurt her." He admitted with tears starting to form in his eyes. The slightly older man lowered his head at this knowledge; then raised his head and told the younger man.
"Hogan, I have known you for a long time, and I know that you would never do anything like that to her, or to anyone. I know that the only time you would kill is for those that you love and care for, but other than that… you will never hurt her. The only way you could hurt Mary in anyway; is if you leave her, and want nothing to do with her…"
"But I am running out of time." Hochstetter raised a brow when the younger man had said this.
"What do you mean that you are running out of time?" He asked the younger. Hogan leaned forward and sighed.
"It will get here soon; that she will not want me around. After her and Newkirk get married; she will not want me around very much. Then when they start their business, and have kids… I may not see her, but on holidays… maybe." Hochstetter rolled his eyes at this.
"Hogan why is it when it comes to the military you are a genius, but when it comes to your personal life; you have no clue what is going on." Hogan glanced up at the Major with narrowed brows.
"I'm sorry what?" He asked. Hochstetter sighed and leaned forward, and placed a hand on the younger man's arm.
"Hogan… Robert, your daughter will want you around. When she is married and has children; she will still want you around. I know that the both of you will go out to the town while you are here, and when you are both back home. She will always have a place for you in her life, and household… She has told me that." Hogan smiled at the slightly older man as he spoke.
"Mary will want you around, and you are not running out of time to spend with her. She will need you as well as Klink, and her sweetheart to protect her from god knows what. You will just have to learn how to share her with Newkirk, and everyone else." Hogan smiled and looked at the man fully.
"You make her sound like a doll that I have to share with the rest of the schoolroom." He lightly joked. The Major smiled and nodded his head.
"Mary is like a porcelain doll in away. Everyone sees her outer beauty, and not the inner. They will try their hardest to kill that part of her, and she will go to you, Klink, and her sweetheart for comfort. She will need you to be strong for her, and to not let her believe what has been said to her." Hogan leaned up some, and asked the man that he once hated a question that he had to know.
"What if Mary doesn't come to us, but to you?" This caught Hochstetter off guard. After a few seconds of thinking; he said his answer.
"I will tell her the same that all of you would. I would remind her that she is wonderful, and is amazing in all that she does, and wants to do." Hogan smiled at this knowledge.
"Good because she likes spending time with you and talking to you. When I told her that you were not staying for dinner; she did get sad about it… I have to say that if she could; she would go to work with you, and follow you around like a little kitten." Hochstetter smiled at this; then chuckled at the image of Mary following him around.
"She would look like a little kitten wouldn't she." Hogan nodded his head and chuckled as well. He was not prepared for the Major to ask his next question.
"Hogan, about this Jason… if you in away knew that he was bad news; then why stay with him?" Hogan was caught off guard with this question. With a sigh he told the older man the truth that he didn't tell his love, nor his daughter.
"I had heard things about Jason from others, and knew that he could give me what I thought I needed." The slightly older man raised a brow, and waited for the younger to say what he had wanted from the man.
"And what was that?" He asked when the younger man didn't tell him. Hogan lowered his head and said.
"I wanted him to beat me." Hochstetter noticed the shame in the man's voice. Leaning forward; the slightly older asked.
"You wanted him to beat you? Why in earth would you want that?" Hogan turned his head slightly to the left.
"In my mind… I guess that I thought I had to be with someone that was like that. My father did beat that into my head. That if anyone wanted me; then I had to let them hurt me in someway. Jason was like my father in so many ways, and I thought that I needed to be in a relationship with someone that was like that. My father waterboarded me in hot water, because his coffee was too hot, and Jason got angry at me, and threw me into the coffee table. He took the leg of the coffee table, and started to beat me with it… I have to say that if it wasn't for my adopted mother, and for General Butler; then I would not be here right now. They both saved me, and told me that I didn't need to go threw that…"
"Robert you don't have to go threw that now, or then. You are with someone that loves you, and would do anything for you. Even before all of this happened; I thought that you and Klink were in love with each other. Both of you would jump threw hoops to make sure that the other was safe. Klink has told me a bucket of lies to keep you safe, and you have done that for him as well. I know you have." Hogan smiled and nodded his head.
"I have done that many times; with you and with Burkhalter… And by the way Burkhalter doesn't know about the… you know." Hochstetter nodded his head at this; then listened when Hogan told him something that he didn't know about until now.
"When Klink was taken that time; Newkirk was the one who called his phone, and made you think that Klink was Nimrod. Then he was the one who called, and thanked you for letting our agent free, and to make sure that Klink was safe." Hogan chuckled at the look on Hochstetter's face. The Major was shocked at what he had just been told. He then smiled and shook his head.
"Well that just makes my case." When Hogan heard this; he stiffened up.
"What case?" He asked.
"That you two will do, or say anything to make sure that the other is safe." Hogan relaxed at hearing this, and smiled at the slightly older man.
"I do love him very much, and I am happy that I am with someone that will not beat me. My father broke my mind, Lizzie broke my heart, and Jason broke my body… I am glad that Will loves me no matter what."
"He does love you. The way he looked at you at breakfast, and the way you looked at him… I have to admit Hogan; that one day I wish that I will have someone to look at me the way you and he does, and the way that Mary and Newkirk do." Hochstetter said; then looked to the side, and added. "But I don't know if that day will come though. I have looked, and can't find someone that doesn't want just my rank, and would use my job to get what they want. I guess that I am to the point that she will have to come to me." Hogan nodded his head at this.
"That's how I felt, but I was lucky to be brought to my love; so maybe your love will drive threw the gates, and fall for you right there." Hochstetter looked over toward the younger man that was trying to cheer him up.
"I hope so, because I am not getting younger." Hochstetter moved his hand up, and pointed a finger at the younger Colonel; then added. "Don't say a word." Hogan smiled wide at this.

Kinch was now sitting at the table within Barracks 2. He could still see Hilda's mother in front of his eyes. A large smile came to his lips as he closed his eyes, and saw the beautiful woman waving at him. A larger smile appeared when her smile came to his mind. Her long bright blonde hair was the same color as Hilda's, but was much longer. Her long hair stopped at the end of her back. The green dress that she had on had looked beautiful on her. 'That must be the same fabric that Mary's dress is made out of.' He thought to himself. Then a thought came to his mind. 'What color is her eyes? Hilda's eyes are a bright blue. I wonder if her mother has the same color eyes, or did Hilda get the eye color from her father?' He asked himself. With that thought; Kinch opened his eyes, and got up from the table. He walked over to the door and opened it, and made his way to the Kommandantur.

Regina walked over to her daughter's desk and sat down. She moved the files around and sighed to herself. There was more paperwork here than what she had thought. Regina stopped what she was doing when the image of the young man; that she had seen when she had arrived at the camp came to her mind. He was a very handsome man. A large smile came to her lips when she saw his face before her eyes. Then a frown came just as quickly as the smile did. 'A man as good looking as him; must have a wife, or a girl back home.' She thought to herself. With a sigh; Regina went back to work. She looked up when she heard the front door open and close. Her breath caught in her throat when she saw the man that she was thinking about was now standing in front of her.
"Can I help you?" She asked him.
"Yes you can; I was wanting to speak to the Kommandant about something." He told her. Regina stood up and walked around the desk; then stopped.
"And what is your name; so that I can tell Herr Kommandant who is here to see him." She asked the man that was making her heart race.
"James… well Sergeant James Kinchloe… well the Kommandant and everyone else calls me Kinch." Regina smiled at the young man.
"Alright Sergeant James Kinchloe; I will tell him that you are here… Oh and by the way; my name is Regina Kaspar." She told him and walked threw the doorway. Kinch smiled at her; then when she had walked into the office; he closed his eyes and thought to himself. 'That was smooth.' His eyes snapped open when he heard Klink call his name. Kinch walked into the office and stood near the desk. The older man was leaning over his desk signing a paper. Kinch waited for the man to get done with the paper. He felt eyes on him, and looked over to see Regina quickly look away with a blush on her cheeks. After seeing the blush on her cheeks; Kinch smiled to himself.
"Yes Kinch what did you want to speak to me about?" Kinch looked over to see the older man looking at him.
"Mary had asked me to come over here to see if all of you would be able to eat lunch today or not." He lied. Klink looked down at his desk and sighed.
"We will be able to, but it will have to be something light, but long lasting." He told him. Kinch nodded his head and went to walk out, but stopped when he heard Regina's voice.
"Could you please tell this Mary that I would love something chocolate for after lunch. It has been along time since I have had some good chocolate." Kinch smiled a sheepish smile as Regina walked closer to him. Hilda stopped what she was doing at the file cabinet, and had turned around to look at her mother. Klink looked up at the two in front of his desk with narrowed brows. Kinch cleared his throat and said.
"I will tell her that Frau Kasper, but doesn't your husband by you chocolate?" He asked her. Regina shook her head slowly and replied.
"Fräulein… I am not married. I was going to be before I had Hilda, but that didn't work out. So I am not married, and the good American chocolate is hard to find." As Regina said this Kinch felt his heart race.
"Oh well Fräulein; I will tell Mary to make some good American chocolate just for you. What kind of chocolate would you like? Mary's chocolate cake is very good, and she can put anything in it that you would want." Regina smiled wide and walked closer toward the American Sergeant.
"Danke, and whatever kind you would get for your wife, or sweetheart back home." Kinch smiled wide to where his teeth showed.
"I am not married, and I don't have no one back home either." He informed her. Regina turned away to try to hide her wide smile that came to her lips. Kinch stepped closer and leaned down some, and told her.
"But I will tell Mary to make sure you get some great American chocolate." Regina glanced back at him.
"I would like that." She said with a wink; then turned to walk out of the office.
Kinch smiled to himself; then turned toward Klink, and told him that he would go and tell Mary. After he said this; Kinch walked out of the office as well. When he went to walk out of the small building; he looked to his right and saw Regina standing near the desk. He smiled at her and winked. Regina smiled, and did the same. Kinch then opened the door and walked out. Regina sat the files down on the desk, and walked into the room that was behind her daughter's desk. Back in Klink's office; Klink was looking at the doorway, and was wondering what he had just witness.
"What just happened?" He asked himself. The older man looked over toward Hilda who was looking toward the door with a raised brow, and her mouth in the shape of a small 'o'. When she heard her boss ask what had just happened; she replied.
"I don't know… I don't know if my mother was flirting with him, or if they were actually talking about chocolate." She stated and noted to herself. 'I will ask mother about this later on tonight.' She thought to herself.
With Regina; she was now laying up against the door, and was smiling wide. She couldn't believe that she had said that to the handsome man. Then she remembered what they had both talked about. 'He is not married, and he knows that I am not married either… That's good news for me.' She thought to herself. Her face became hotter when she imagined the handsome Sergeant kissing her on the cheek; then on the lips. Her heart was racing at this image that played in her mind.
"Damn is it hot in here, or is my cheeks on fire?" Regina giggled then moved her hand up to her cheek, and touched her face.
With Kinch; he had walked back to the Barracks, and had went down into the tunnels. His cheeks were still hot at what he and Regina had talked about. As he took a seat at the radio; a large smile came to his face. 'She is not married, and she knows that I am not married, and I don't have a girl back home… That's great news for me.' He thought to himself. His face heated up again at the memory of the beautiful woman flirting with him. 'I still have one from the Red Cross package that I had gotten a few days ago.' He thought to himself. 'I will sit here until five minutes until noon; then go up and give it to Mary.' Kinch smiled wide, and picked up the headset. He usually hated sitting down in the tunnels for hours at a time, but now he didn't mind. A larger smile came to his lips when he remembered back on Regina's eye color.
"They are crystal blue." He said as his smile widen even more.

Mary looked up from the jacket that she was working on. Her Huntsman had showed her how to sew on flat solid buttons. She was very happy that he had showed her how to do this. Now she could finish her fathers jackets that she had been working on for awhile now. Her eyes looked over toward her love, and saw him sewing a crystal onto the dress he was working on now. At first Newkirk had told her that he didn't know what kind of dresses he should make. Mary had told him to make one of each. She told him to make a everyday dress, party dress, wedding dress, and a simple dress. Newkirk had smiled wide when she had told him this. He drew out all of the dresses in his note pad, and shown Mary all but one.
The first dress Newkirk had made was the simple dress. The dress had blue roses on the long cotton skirt; that stopped an inch from the floor. The top of the dress had white lace long sleeves; with a white lining going from the neck, and down to the skirt of the dress. The neck of the dress was like a turtleneck, but didn't go all the way up like a turtleneck normally would. The sleeves were also lined with the same white lining. Newkirk had told her that the dress would be great for spring, or for summer. The next dress he made; Mary had thought that she had seen it before, but didn't know where from. The dress was a white silk dress with embroidered Tudor roses. On the upper part of the dress was white chiffon; that had the Tudor roses, and the light green embroidered vines on the shoulders, and on the upper chest of the dress. The bottom of the dress was straight, and also came to a few inches off the ground. Newkirk had told her that he was very happy that she had showed him how to do embroidery. Mary had smiled and told him that she was happy to show him how to do it, and that she was happy to be able to finally know how to sew on flat solid buttons.
The dress that he was working on now was a beautiful wedding gown. The bottom of the dress was a cream colored satin that flared out at the hips. The bodice of the dress had the same cream color underlining, but had a cream colored lace on top of the lining. The lace stopped at the hips, but looked like it was slowly falling down the dress. The sleeves of the dress stopped at the mid lower arm, but had no lining underneath the sleeves. The neckline of the dress was a wide 'V'; to where it was just barely on the shoulders. There were some beautiful crystal's sewn here and there on the lace. Mary was very happy when her love had added a cream colored satin ribbon to the dress. The ribbon started at the sides of the dress, and went under the breast. Her eyes watched her love sew one of the last crystal's that made the rose in the middle of the ribbon. But it was the next dress that her Huntsman was to work on; was what Mary was excited to see when it was finished.
The next dress was to have a light gold underlining; white, cream and gold lace on top of the underlining. The bottom of the dress was to drag in the back, but was high in the front; if only by a few inches. The lining was to stop at the breast, and made what looked like to be the beginning shape of a heart. The upper chest, and the shoulders was to have the white, cream and gold lace. The neckline was to be in the shape of a 'U'. The long sleeves stopped just at the wrist. Mary couldn't wait to see her love sew on the long gold studs, and the crystal's; that he would thread onto a wire. Newkirk had told Mary; that this way he could sew them onto the shoulders of the dress. Mary had smiled wide, and told him; that he should place some crystal's here and there going down the dress. Newkirk had liked the idea, and had placed them into the drawing. Mary couldn't wait to see the finished dress, but there was one more drawing that her love wouldn't let her see.
"Eira, why are you staring at me?" He asked her.
"Why will you not let me see the last drawing?" She asked him. Newkirk smiled and said without looking up.
"Because…" Mary lowered her hands, and waited for him to finish, but he never did. Mary narrowed her eyes at him.
"Because why?" She asked him again.
"Because I don't want you to see it until it's done." He told her. Mary softened her eyes, but raised a brow.
"But I want to see it." She said with a little pout.
"Nope not until I am done with it." He told her still not looking up. Mary looked down at her hands, but looked up when he added. "You know that all of these dresses are in your size right." He said glancing up at her. Newkirk smiled when his love replied.
"I do, but I will always love this green dress." She told him with a large smile. Newkirk looked down at the dress again. He smiled wide when she asked him again.
"Come on let me see it." He didn't say anything to her, but shook his head no. Mary sighed and started to pout again; then laughed when her love said.
"And don't pout little Robert."

Hogan stood beside the table and waited for the Major to come out of the bedroom. He told him that he was going to place the papers that they had taken out into another folder. Hogan had asked Hochstetter what he was going to do with this new file, and the slightly older man told him that he would give it to him. The slightly younger man was surprised by this. Hogan looked over toward the door, and saw the Major walk toward him. Hochstetter handed the young Colonel the new folder, and three others. Hogan raised a brow at this.
"What are these?" He asked him. The Major smiled at him and told him.
"Those are the files of every Gestapo agent in, and around Hammelburg." Hogan raised a brow, and started to look threw them as the Major went on.
"I thought that you would want them. That way if you meet a so called underground agent; then you will know if they are Gestapo, or not." Hogan glanced over toward the Major; then looked at the folders that were in his hands. He flipped threw each file looking for the one that he was curious about. Hochstetter saw this and raised a brow.
"Hogan, who's file are you looking for?" He asked him. The young Colonel looked over and asked the slightly older man.
"Where is Berlin Betty's file?" The Major raised both brows at the question.
"She's not a Gestapo agent Hogan. Why do you think that she would be?" He asked him. The young man smiled a smile that made the Major a little uneasy.
"Then she lied." Was all the younger Colonel said. Hochstetter narrowed one brow and asked.
"What are you talking about Hogan?" Hogan looked over and sat the folders on the table. He then looked over toward the Major.
"Well Betty came here about six months ago to do a radio show. It was one of those; give up the war kind of broadcast. Our radio had gotten broken, and Newkirk said that he would go on her radio show to send the message out to London; who would be listening. When she got here… she tricked Newkirk into falling in love with her. She said that the Gestapo had her family, and she didn't want to make those kind of broadcast. Newkirk almost didn't send the message, but ended up doing it. After that Betty told him that she didn't want him, nor cared about him. She broke his heart. After that Newkirk would go out on missions, and try to get killed. Then when he didn't; he would piss Will off somehow. He wanted Will to kill him, but Will being Will; didn't do it. Newkirk was going to take his own life the night that Mary came here to the camp. Carter had hid everything that Newkirk could use to kill himself…"
"He was going to kill himself over getting his heart broke; over a whore." Hogan raised a brow at this. Hochstetter then added. "Betty was well known around… well pretty much everywhere in Germany." He told him. Hogan chuckled at this.
"Oh I say she was… but yes he was. Newkirk was tired of getting his heart broken. He would fall for someone that he thought loved him, but was only using him… But Mary changed his mind on that. A few days after Mary had came to the camp; Betty came back, and wanted Newkirk to do another show. He told her no, and she almost broke Mary and Newkirk apart, but it didn't work. The last time I was here in the VIP Quarters was when Mary killed Betty…" Hogan looked from the Major, and over to the spot where Mary had killed the older woman. He then looked back over toward Hochstetter when he heard him speak.
"Mary killed her?" He asked not believing that the sweet young woman would do such a thing. Hogan nodded his head.
"Yeah, I wasn't in the room at the time, and neither was Will, or Burkhalter. Two new POW's were caught trying to break into Mary's room. They were going to kill us to get to Mary, and have their way with her… Wolfgang, we were only gone for five minutes, and came back to a bloody mess. Mary told us that Betty was going to kill Newkirk with a knife, and Mary saved him by having the Succubus…"
"Succubus?" Hochstetter asked with a small laugh. Hogan chuckled then told him who came up with the name.
"Hilda called her that, and it just stuck… but Mary had Betty stab herself in the chest with the knife that she was going to use on Newkirk; then Mary said that she cut the woman's throat." As the younger man spoke; Hochstetter looked over toward the spot that Hogan had been looking at. It was what the younger man said next; is what made the Major look back over with widen eyes.
"After Mary had killed her; she went to Burkhalter, and asked him for punishment…"
"He punished her for killing a woman that was going to kill her sweetheart?" He asked then added. "What kind of punishment did he give her?" Hogan smiled and said.
"He told her to cook him dinner, and a big cake for afterwards." Hochstetter rolled his eyes at this.
"No wonder that man is fat." Hogan started to laugh when the Major had said this. Soon both men were laughing at what the Major had said. When they had calmed down; Hogan spoke again.
"Thanks for the files, and if I need you; I will send Carter, or I will come there myself…" Hochstetter cut in at this point.
"No, that's not a good idea. The last thing that any of us wants, or needs is for you to get caught… We will have to come up with another idea." Both men started to think of away to get to the Major if need be. It was Hogan who came up with the idea.
"I know; what if Mary goes to your office to not only spend time with you, but gives you the messages too. I will tell her to give it too you, but tell her not to read it… just in case." Hochstetter nodded his head at this idea.
"That is a good idea Hogan, and we both know that she will love the idea as well." Hogan smiled and replied.
"Oh she will love it." He said with a smile.

It had gotten close to lunch time, and Mary had made lunch for herself and everyone that she loved. She had walked out of the little family home, and had waved Bischof and Habicht over to her. They both smiled at her when she had asked them to do a few things for her. Mary had asked Bischof if he could take the basket with the Major's lunch over to him, but to knock on the door first. Bischof had said when he had took the basket; that there was a lot of food for the Gestapo Major. Mary had told him that she had told her uncle what she was making, and he had asked for more than usual. Bischof shrugged his shoulders, and had done this for her. She watched him walk up to the door and knock. Mary had smiled wide when she had seen her new uncle open the door and take the basket. Mary had lied to her friends when she said that the Major had asked for more food than usual. She had placed her father's lunch into the basket as well. Mary did feel bad for lying to her two new friends, but no one besides herself, and the other's knew that her father was in the VIP Quarters with the Major. Mary then had asked Habicht to take a piece of paper over to the Mess Hall. He had raised a brow when she had asked him to do this. She had smiled and told him that on the paper was a recipe for the camps dinner tonight. Habicht had looked at the paper and smiled wide. He went and did this for her while she got her Vater's, Hilda's and Hilda's mother's lunch ready. Both had came back and told her what they had done, and who said what. Bischof had said that the Major thanked him, and her for the food. Mary had looked over toward Habicht when he said that the cooks would be more than happy to fix something different for everyone's dinner. Mary had smiled when she had heard this; then blushed when Habicht had told her; that the cooks knew that the food would be good because it was her recipe.
Mary was now walking over toward the Kommandantur with the basket that had her Vater's, Hilda's, and Hilda's mother's lunch within it. Mary had to admit that she was very excited to meet Hilda's mother. She was about to walk up the steps to the Kommandantur when Kinch had ran over to her. She smiled at him and watched him place an American chocolate bar in the basket. She looked up at her brother with a raised brow. Kinch smiled at her, and told her that it was for Hilda's mother. As he ran off toward the Barracks; Mary looked down at the basket still with a raised brow. She shrugged her shoulders, and walked up the steps. Mary opened the door to the Kommandantur and saw Hilda walking out of her Vater's office. Hilda looked up at her and smiled.
"Please say you have food in that basket?" Hilda asked her. Mary giggled and nodded her head.
"Yes I do, I made fish and chips for all of you." She said with a smile. Hilda walked around her desk and nodded her head toward the open office door. Mary smiled and walked over to the door. She walked threw the door in time to hear her Vater wine out.
"Please tell me that we are almost done." Mary looked up at Hilda's mother when she shook her head, and told him.
"Nope not even close." A large smile came to Mary's lips when she heard the older man sigh heavily. Mary giggled at his reaction which cause both her Vater and Hilda's mother to look over toward her. Klink smiled wide at the sight of his nonblood daughter.
"My little Snow has come to visit me." He said; then spotted the basket. A larger smile came to his lips; then he added. "And she has brought food with her too." Mary nodded her head and walked over to his desk.
"Yes I have food for all of you." Mary looked over when she heard Hilda's mother speak.
"You must be Mary. Your Vater has told me a lot about you." Mary smiled at her and raised up her hand.
"Yes I am, you must be Hilda's Mutter. It is nice to meet you." Regina smiled at the young lady, and shook her hand.
"And it is very nice to meet you too. My name is Regina." She told her with a sweet smile.
"Oh I have always loved that name." Mary said also with a sweet smile. The older woman smiled then noticed Mary's green dress that she had on.
"Is that dress made out of the same fabric as mine?" She asked. Mary nodded her head and said.
"Yes it is. My gold heart made it for me. Peter is wonderful at making dresses and after the war; he will be a designer." The older woman smiled at hearing this. Mary then noticed that the dish towel in the basket was being moved. She looked over and saw her Vater lifting up the dish towel. Mary narrowed her brows and pushed her lips together. She reached over and smacked his hand. Klink looked up at her with a wounded look on his face.
"Can you not wait?" She asked him with a small laugh. Klink smiled and told her the truth.
"No, I'm hungry." Mary smiled and turned toward the basket. She lifted the dish towel and took out their plates. Mary handed her Vater his plate, and watched a large smile come to his lips.
"I made fish and chips." She told him. Klink smiled at the food in front of him. At this point he didn't care what kind of food it was; as long as it was food. His stomach had been telling him for a few hours that he was hungry, but he had kept pushing it off. Mary looked over and handed Regina her plate; then she handed Hilda hers. They all took a bite of their food and looked at the young woman.
"Oh Mary this is wunderbar." Hilda told her. Mary smiled and looked over toward Regina.
"This is very good. I have to admit that I have always wanted to try this, and I am glad that I get too."
"This is so damn good." All three women looked over toward Klink when he spoke mostly to himself. Mary giggled and told him.
"You have been around Papa too long." Klink smiled and nodded his head.
"Now I know why this is one of Peter's favorite foods." He said as he took another bite of the fish. Mary smiled at him then told him.
"I had asked Habicht to tell the cooks how to fix this dish for everyone in camp tonight. He then told me that they were more than happy to cook something different, and that they knew the food was going to be good, because it was my recipe." Klink smiled at this and told her the truth.
"Mary you are a wonderful cook and baker. You could make cardboard taste amazing." Mary laughed at her Vater's joke.
"Vater." She said with a smile. Klink smiled and went back to eating. All looked at Mary when she spoke again.
"I will have to go back to the fish market and get some more though… Oh I can't wait until Papa and I go out this Sunday, and go shopping. It will be like old times." She said with a loving smile as she remembered shopping with her father on the three weeks she had spent with him. Mary was brought out of her thoughts when her Vater spoke again.
"Well I do have to tell you that; this time you will spend the money on you and you alone. No buying things that you can make for others... You pulled that trick last time and I am on to you little Snow." He told her as he sat his empty plate down on his desk. Mary smiled at him and told him.
"Okay, I will buy myself things, but I will buy everyone one gift each." Klink narrowed his eyes at her. Mary smiled a smile that reminded him of her father; his love.
"Mary Lace Hogan, you will spend the four thousand marks that I will give you, and you will spend it on yourself and no one else." He told her in a strong, but sweet voice. Mary lowered her head, but glanced up at him with big eyes. Klink saw this, and replied.
"And don't do the cute little puppy eyes either." He told her as she pushed out her lower lips, and started to pout. Hilda and Regina smiled and tried to hold in their laughter as Mary did this. Klink looked away; then looked back at his daughter. 'Dear god she is just like Robert.' He thought to himself. With a sigh; Klink gave in.
"Alright, but one gift each; that's it… And they better not be big gifts either; something small." He told her as he pointed his finger at her. Mary lifted her head and smiled wide.
"Alright something small for everyone, but Peter." Mary saw the older man go to say something, but she quickly added. "Peter is having a hard time with the dresses. I think that he needs some mannequins. I know that will help him with the dresses, and whatever he makes later on. I mean he has made three already, but I think that he will need to see them on something besides me." She giggled. Klink tilted his head to the side and thought on what his daughter had said.
"That would help him a lot, and it would help you when you go to make a dress, or any outfit you make for yourself… Alright, but that is the only big thing you get him; got it." Mary nodded her head; then realized what her Vater had said before.
"Wait, you said that you were giving me four thousand marks this time?" She asked him. Both Hilda and Regina looked at the man with widen eyes. Klink nodded his head.
"Yes I did. Mary my sweet little Snow… You really didn't buy anything for yourself, but one pear of earrings. So please this time buy things for yourself mostly." He asked her. Mary sighed and nodded her head.
"Alright I will." Klink smiled and handed Mary his plate. Mary took the plate and went to moved the dish towel back, and saw the chocolate bar down in the basket. She reached in and grabbed it. She placed the plate in the basket, and looked over toward Regina.
"Oh yes Regina…" Regina looked at Mary; as she placed her own plate in the basket for the young woman.
"Yes?" She asked her. Mary handed her the chocolate bar and told her.
"My brother James…" Regina cut Mary off by saying.
"Yes Sergeant Kinch; we met earlier today." Mary raised a brow at this; then went on.
"Yes, he said that this was for you." She told her. Regina smiled wide as she looked down at the chocolate bar.
"Oh… well I will have to thank him for this." Mary looked over when Hilda spoke up now.
"Sergeant Kinch came over earlier and said that you had asked him to come over here. He said that you wanted to know if we all could eat lunch today. He then said that he would go and tell you that we could, and to tell you to make my Mutter something chocolate." Mary's eyes widen a little at hearing this. Then she did a quick smile and said.
"Oh that's right he did. I was helping Peter with the dresses, and I must have forgotten." Klink raised a brow at this. 'She's lying." He thought to himself; then looked at Mary when she said.
"I will make it up to you. I will be making an apple cake tomorrow for after supper, but I can also make a chocolate cake too." She said with a large smile. Regina raised up her hand and waved it in front of herself.
"No sweetie, you don't have to do that." She told the young lady in front of her. All the women looked over toward Klink when he spoke next.
"Mary will make the cake for you. There is no use in telling her no, besides that chocolate cake for Peter's birthday was very good." He said with a smile; then added. "But you are making an apple cake?" He asked her. Mary nodded her head.
"Yes I am. Papa told me that you love apple cake, and so do I; I just thought that I would make us one." She told him with a smile. Klink smiled and nodded his head.
After Mary had took everyone's plate's, and placed them in the basket; she walked out of the building. She made her way down the steps, and over to Barracks 2. She opened the door and saw her brother's at the table playing cards. Mary walked over to them, and stood beside Kinch. Kinch glanced over and saw her looking at him with narrowed brows. He smiled at her; then chuckled when she told him.
"The next time you go to lie, and put me in the lie; make sure you tell me about it first." Kinch smiled at her, and said.
"I will do that next time." Mary smiled at him then glanced over toward Carter's hand. She reached down and took a card out of his hand, and placed it on the table.
"Andrew's out." She said and walked out of the Barracks with a smile on her face. Kinch and LeBeau looked down at the table and saw that Carter was indeed out. They both frowned and threw their cards on the table. Carter smiled and took the pot which was made up of cookies.
"She will have to play cards with us one day." He told them. Kinch looked over toward LeBeau when he asked.
"Kinch, what did you lie about?"
"Yeah, and why was sissy in the lie?" Asked Carter as he shuffled the cards. Kinch smiled and told them.
"Nothing that you two need to worry about."
With Regina; she had walked into the same room that was behind her daughter's desk again. In her hand was the chocolate bar that the handsome Sergeant had gave her. She smiled to herself as she slid off the wrapper, and saw a piece of blue paper wrapped around the bar. Regina slid the bar of chocolate out of the blue paper, and read the note to herself. Her cheeks grew red and hot as she read what the note said.
Regina
It was nice meeting you. I hope that I can see you more often. I hope that you come to the camp more, and we can spend some time together. If you would want to meet when you are here, I will be in the motor pool. I am always there fixing a car, or truck. I hope that we can see more of each other, and by the way that green dress looks amazing on you.
James
Regina smiled wide at what the note said. She placed the note to her chest and smiled even wider. An idea came to her mind on how she could spend time with the man that had stole her heart. Regina then raised the note up and kissed it. She looked over toward her bag and placed it inside a secret pocket. She then waited until her heart and the redness had left her face before she walked out of the room with the chocolate bar in hand. Regina moved the files around on the desk and took a bite of the chocolate bar.
"Oh wow this is good." She said to herself with a large smile as she looked at the chocolate bar.

Around two o'clock; Ritter came to the camp. He pulled up to the VIP Quarters, and got out of the car. He walked up the steps, and knocked on the door. His boss opened the door and handed him a bag. Hochstetter walked down the steps, and to the car. He placed his things in the car; then moved for Ritter to place another bag in the back of the car. Ritter smiled when the Major had looked over toward him, and said that he wanted to go and say goodbye to Mary. Ritter nodded his head and got back into the car. He looked up in the mirror and saw the Major get in the back of the car. Hochstetter smiled and told him that he really didn't want to walk to the small family home. Ritter smiled and turned the car on.
At the house; Mary had saw the car pull into the camp. She smiled to herself as she fixed the black ribbon on one of the boxes. She looked over toward her love when he walked out of their bedroom. Newkirk had finished all the dresses but one. Mary's eyes widen some when she saw her love place his right hand on his left arm. She walked over toward him quickly, and touched his hand with hers. Newkirk had closed his eyes, but opened them again when he felt her touch. He smiled at her with a loving smile. He knew that she was going to ask him if he was alright.
"Eira, I'm okay. My arm is hurting a little is all." He smiled at her when she asked him.
"Do you want me to go and get Vater?" Newkirk shook his head.
"No, I'll be alright. It just hurts where I was working so hard on the dresses. It's not easy when the clothes are not on a model." He told her with a smile; then hissed when pain went threw his arm again. Mary stepped closer toward her love.
"Peter, please let me go and get Vater. He can give you a pain shot for it." Newkirk saw the worry in her eyes. He smiled at her and placed his hand on hers, and moved it outward. He lifted her hand up, and kissed her open palm like he had done before. Once again both of them felt the jolt of electricity go threw them. 'There is the lightning again.' Newkirk thought to himself with a large smile on his lips. Mary closed her eyes as she thought to herself. 'There's the jolt I love.' She opened her eyes when she felt his lips leave her open palm.
"Why is it when you kiss my hand, or my lips; I feel the jolt of electricity?" She asked him knowing why. Newkirk looked over into her snowy blue eyes.
"Because that is what love feels like." He told her. Mary smiled then remembered what she had asked him.
"Peter are you sure that you don't want me to get Vater? You did thrust a arrow into your chest, and you did get shot in the arm." Her love lowered their hands and told her the truth.
"Mary, I did know what I was doing when I thrusted the arrow into my chest. I dropped to my knees so that George would be in the right place for me to kill him." Mary's eyes widen at what her love had just told her.
"You dropped to your knees, and you knew what you were doing?" She asked him. Newkirk nodded his head at this.
"Yes I did. My chest doesn't hurt like before, but my arm hurts off and on. It was just where I was moving it so much making all of the dresses. My left arm is the one I use to sew with… And the arrow is not what killed me; it was the loss of blood. Pretty much all the blood on the floor was all mine… But I am alright now; I mean my arm still hurts off and on, but I am alright. I can take something for it later on." He told her. Mary nodded her head and looked away. Newkirk lifted his hand up, and raised her chin up so that he could look into her snowy blue eyes. Within his blue flamed eyes; Mary saw that her love was going to be alright, and to stop worrying. With a sigh; Mary spoke.
"Your right, and I will try to stop worrying." Newkirk narrowed his brows together and asked.
"How did you know what I was going to say?" Mary smiled and told him.
"I could read it in your eyes." Her love chuckled lightly then leaned down to kiss her on the lips once again. They broke apart when they heard a knock on the front door. Mary giggled when her love stole another kiss then leaned back up. Mary moved away from her Huntsman, and over toward the front door. She opened the door and greeted her uncle and her friend. Newkirk's eyes watched the two men walk into the living room. Hochstetter nodded his head at the young man, and Newkirk returned the nod. The Major looked back over toward his niece when she spoke.
"I'm glad that you came to see me before you left." She told him with a happy smile. Hochstetter smiled at this.
"Well I couldn't leave without saying goodbye for now." Mary's smile turned into a small frown. The oldest man in the room saw this, and moved closer to her. He moved his arms out and hugged her. Mary hugged him back when she heard him say.
"Don't worry Nichte I will be back to see you soon." He told her. Mary broke the hug, and said in a happy voice.
"I know that you will be, but before both of you go; I want to give you both something." Mary moved over toward the sofa, and grabbed two boxes. With the boxes in each hand; she walked over toward them and added.
"I hope the both of you like what I have made you." Mary told them as she handed the first box over toward Ritter first. Ritter looked at the box with narrowed brows. As he took the box from her; he told her.
"Lady Mary, you didn't have to make me anything." Mary smiled at the Captain and said.
"I wanted to thank you for being there for me when I was upset." Ritter raised a brow and thought. 'When was I there for her?' He asked himself; then remembered back to when he had held her outside of the sick bay.
"Lady Mary, you don't have to thank me for being kind to you." He told her. Mary smiled and held up her hand with her pointer finger up.
"Oh but I do have to thank you. You didn't have to hold me when I was crying outside of the sick bay, but you did. And I am very grateful for it." Ritter went to hand the box back to her when he heard her love speak to him.
"You better take it, or she will keep trying to give it to you… Mary has away of wearing someone down; she is like her father in that way." Mary narrowed her eyes, and looked over toward her love. Newkirk smiled at her then added.
"You are like him Eira." He told her. Mary stuck her tongue out at him. This caused her Huntsman to chuckle at her. Ritter smiled at the two; then he moved over toward one of the chairs. Mary saw him do this, and watched him place the box down in the chair. She was going to tell him to take the gift; when she saw him move to open the box.
Ritter pulled the black ribbon, and opened the box. His eyes widen as he pulled out what was inside. Inside of the box was a black jacket. The jacket had a standing collar that had a thick black line embroidered around the top of the collar. There was eight flat golden solid buttons going down the front; with five large bold embroidered lines just underneath the buttons. The lines moved outwards from the center of the jacket; to stop four inches from the sides. On the end of the bold lines were three embroidered loops. The jacket could be closed with many small hooks; that would not be seen when closed. Ritter's eyes traveled down the jacket to see two pockets on each side. There were two of the same flat solid buttons to be able to close each pocket. His eyes looked from the front of the jacket to the arms. At the end of the long sleeves were three large thick bold lines that also had three of the same flat golden buttons. Ritter smiled wide at the gift that the young woman had made him. He looked over to see Mary smiling wide. He laid the jacket down in the box, and moved to take off his Gestapo coat. Once the coat was off; Ritter placed the clothing over the back of the chair. He reached down, and picked up the new jacket that was made just for him. Once the jacket was on; Ritter smiled wide again. The jacket fit him like a glove.
"Does it fit? I had to guess what size you were." The young Gestapo Captain looked over and smiled at her.
"It does… and I have to say that I love it." Mary smiled wide at hearing this. Newkirk walked over to stand next to his love.
"I didn't make you anything for being there for Mary, but thank you. I know that those days were not easy on any of us." Ritter looked at the Corporal. Ritter didn't know what to say, but nodded his head. Mary stepped over toward Hochstetter who was looking at the jacket on the young Captain. He glanced over when Mary held up the next box. He smiled at her and went to tell her that she didn't have too, but stopped himself. The Major reached up and took the box from her. Hochstetter moved over, and placed the box in the other chair.
The Major smiled at the black ribbon, and knew why she chose this color. He pulled the ribbon and opened the box. He moved the lid off, and his eyes went wide. The Major sat the lid down, and picked up the piece of clothing that was made just for him. Hochstetter picked up a longer black jacket. The jacket would stop at the waist, and not at the beginning of the hips like Ritter's would. The long jacket also had flat solid button's as well, but were silver. There was six of the silver solid buttons that went down the front of the jacket. Unlike Ritter's jacket; this one could be closed by eight small black hooks that were under the first set of silver buttons near the right arm. There were two black patches on the shoulders; that had a total of sixteen small blackened stainless steel studs. Like Ritter's; this jacket had a standing collar that was almost like a turtleneck, but stopped half way up the neck. Hochstetter's eyes ran down the long jacket, and saw the two pockets on each side, but unlike Ritter's; there was no buttons to close them. Hochstetter looked at the end of the long sleeves, and saw the large cuffs with a slit in each cuff. On either side of the cuffs were three of the silver flat buttons. The Major glanced over, and saw the young woman smiling at him. 'If I don't try this on then Mary will soon ask me to.' Hochstetter thought to himself with a smile. The older man did the same as the young Captain, and took off his Gestapo coat. He placed the coat on the back of the chair, and put on the new jacket. Hochstetter smiled to himself as the new piece of clothing fit him perfectly.
"Does it fit?" Mary asked moving closer. Her uncle nodded his head at her.
"It does."
"That's good; I had hoped that you didn't see me looking at your coat last night after supper." She said with a giggle. Hochstetter looked up at her with a smile.
"You got my measurements from my Gestapo coat?" He asked her. Mary nodded her head at him.
"Yes I did." Hochstetter walked over to her and hugged her.
"Danke Nichte, but why did you make…" Mary's words cut in at this point.
"I just wanted to make something for my favorite uncle is all." She said with a sheepish smile. Hochstetter smiled and hugged her again.
"Danke Meine Porzellanperle." The Major broke the hug, and started to take off the jacket. Mary watched him do this; then looked over toward the young Captain who was also taking off his gift.
"If you both like your gifts; then why are you taking them off?" She asked them with narrowed brows. She looked over toward Ritter when he spoke to her.
"We cannot wear them into Gestapo Headquarters. We have to wear our uniform coats, but I will wear mine outside of work though." He told her as the Major spotted something sewn into the inner top part of his gift. He smiled to himself as his eyes read the lettering.
"Ooohh." Mary said with her mouth making a small 'o' shape. Hochstetter spoke next which cause Mary to look over toward him.
"Ja and I will wear mine on those days as well." He told her. Mary smiled wide at him; then looked over when Ritter spoke again.
"Diamond Heart? Why is your nickname from your sweetheart sewn into the top of the jacket?" Newkirk narrowed his brows, and walked over to look into the inner top part of the jacket. They all looked over toward Mary when she spoke.
"That's Peter's brand name. The business will be called Gold Hearts, and his brand will be called Diamond Heart." She looked toward her love with a loving smile.
"You put that on the jackets?" He asked her. His love nodded at him and smiled a loving smile.
"I did. I just thought it was about time to put your mark on something." She said with a smile; then looked over toward the man that she saw as a uncle when he spoke.
"But Newkirk didn't make these." He told her. Mary narrowed her brows then looked over toward her love.
"No I didn't, these are of your designs; not mine." Mary frowned a little and looked down at the ground. Newkirk saw this and looked over toward Hochstetter when he spoke next.
"How about the two of you come up with a name for Mary's designs, and a name for when you both design something. We both know that Mary will make somethings here and there. So why not have your own name, and then Newkirk can put it into his own group of clothes that he brings out at that time." The young woman looked up at the oldest man in the room, and smiled. She then looked over when Ritter said.
"Ja, that would be a good idea. At one point; both of you will design something together." The young Captain's eyes went from the beautiful young woman over to the handsome young man standing beside him. Newkirk smiled wide at this idea. He looked over toward his love who was also smiling.
"That's a good idea. Whenever you make something; I can put into my line of clothing at the time." Mary smiled wide at him.
"That is a good idea, but what should my brand be called as well as our brand?" She asked then tilted her head to think. They all looked over toward the Major when he said a name.
"Your brand can be called Diamond Snow." Mary smiled wide at this name.
"Oh Onkel I love that name!" Hochstetter smiled wide at hearing the happiness in the young woman's voice. Newkirk smiled and looked over toward Ritter when he said the name of the brand that both of them could use.
"And I think the brand for both of you should be called Scarlet Gold." Mary looked at the Captain and smiled; then looked over toward her love.
"I love that name too! What do you think Peter?!" Newkirk nodded his head and smiled.
"I do like those names." Newkirk looked over toward the man standing beside him. Ritter smiled and felt his heart race at the sight of blue flaming eyes looking at him. Newkirk looked away, and walked over toward his love and stood beside her. Ritter looked down at the floor, and thought to himself. 'What the hell is wrong with me? Now my heart is racing because he was looking at me?' He then listened to what the young woman was now saying.
"I think that you should put your brand name in the dresses that you just made." Hochstetter looked over toward the younger man who was standing beside the young woman who he saw as a niece.
"Dresses? What dresses?" He asked. Newkirk's face redden slightly.
"I made a few dresses. Klink said that since I was nervous about starting a business; that I should make a few dresses, and he would call over Hilda, and her mother as well as Burkhalter's wife and sister to look at them."
"Can I see them?" Ritter as well as Newkirk raised a brow at the Major's request. The oldest man in the room watch the Corporal nod his head.
"Okay, they are in mine and Mary's bedroom." He said and went to walk toward the room. Hochstetter moved to follow him. Ritter sat his jacket down in the chair; then was pulled by the hand by Mary. Ritter looked over and let the young woman pull him toward the room. 'She is so proud of him.' He thought to himself. The Captain's heart started to race at the feeling of her hands on his. He narrowed his brows and thought to himself. 'Now my heart is racing because of her now? What is wrong with me?' Hochstetter walked into the bedroom, and looked at the dresses that were on the bed. His eyes went wide at the sight of the clothing. He looked up at the Corporal, and pointed at the dresses.
"You made these?" He asked him. Newkirk nodded his head.
"Yeah I did, but I don't know if they are good or not." He admitted.
"These are beautiful; I don't know why you would be nervous about anyone seeing them." Both men looked over toward the doorway when Mary and Ritter walked in. Ritter looked at the dresses and his eyes widen.
"These are amazing. You shouldn't be worried about any of them not liking any of the dresses." Newkirk looked over toward his love when he saw her smile wide at him.
"See I told you that they were beautiful." While nodding his head; Newkirk sighed.
"I know, you did tell me that… Mary could you please make me some tea or coffee?" He asked her. Mary nodded her head and looked at the other two men in the room. She went to aske them if they wanted something to drink as well, but both men shook their heads no. The three men watched Mary walk out of the room.
After Mary had left the room; Newkirk leaned down and grabbed the notebook that he had under the bed. He opened the notebook, and flipped threw the pages. He smiled wide when he found the last dress that he drew. While looking over toward the doorway; he handed the notebook to the Major. Hochstetter took the notebook as Ritter moved over to look at the drawing. Both men smiled wide when they saw the dress that was on the page.
"That is the dress I'm going to make Mary for when I ask her…" Newkirk didn't finish, but winked at the two men. Hochstetter smiled wide and looked at the drawing again.
"She will love it, and will look amazing in this… and I know that she will say yes." He told the younger man, and handed the notebook back to him. Newkirk smiled and took the notebook. As he closed the book; Newkirk then said.
"I know that she wants to go with Colonel Hogan this Sunday, but I think I will have to talk to him about switching days with him. If I can go with her this Sunday and him next; then I can make her dress while everyone else is getting her party ready that day." Hochstetter nodded his head; then said still in a low voice.
"That would be better yes, and I will take the drawing to the jeweler when I get into town. Then I will bring it here the day before, and if there is anything I can do to help you and the others with her party please let me know." He told him. Newkirk nodded his head at the Major. 'I like this side of him a lot better.' He thought to himself. Newkirk looked toward the Captain when he spoke up.
"Yes, I would also like to help… if you want me too that is." Newkirk raised a brow at him.
"Of course you can help; Mary told me while she was making your jacket that she does see you as an older brother. She also said that you remind her of someone that she knew back in England." As he spoke; Newkirk placed the notebook back under the bed. His eyes did see the Captain narrow his brows at what he had just told him.
"What do you mean; I remind her of someone she knows back in England?" He asked. Both men watched the man lean back up and start to talk again.
"Mary told me that you remind her of someone that she also calls brother. His name is Captain Sebastian Flint, but Mary calls him Bash…" Hochstetter's words cut in at this point.
"Yes Mary talked about him yesterday. She said that she misses him." Hochstetter informed them what Mary had told him and Hogan the other night.
"Yeah, Mary misses him a lot. She told me that you are just like him. He is like an older brother to her, and he was there for her when Colonel Hogan was not in England at that time. She told me that the both of them would pick on each other like how siblings do." They all looked over when they heard Mary walking threw the doorway. She looked up and saw all the men looking at her.
"Why are all of you staring at me?" She asked. Newkirk smiled at her and told her some of what they had talked about.
"I was just telling Captain Ritter that he reminds you of Bash, and that you see him as an older brother." He told her. Mary walked over and gave her love his cup of coffee.
"Well you do remind me of him." She said and looked down at one of the dresses. All them men there saw the sadden look on her face. Mary looked up when she heard the Major speak.
"You will see him again Mary." Mary smiled at him and nodded her head.
"I will, but I still miss him."
"I know diamond heart." Newkirk moved and wrapped his free arm around her. His love smiled and looked up at him; then over when Ritter spoke.
"You see me as an older brother?" He asked. Mary smiled a sheepish smile.
"Yes I do… If that is alright with you?" She asked him. Ritter smiled and nodded his head.
"It is, it's nice to be part of a family, and I am honored that I am part of your family. I have to admit; that it has been along time since I have had family." Mary as well as the two men in the room raised a brow at this.
"What do you mean?" She asked him. Ritter sighed and told her and the others what he had meant.
"My father was killed in the factory that he was working in, and after that my mother took her own life. I was raised by my grandparents, but after they both passed away I was placed into an orphanage. I was eight at the time; then when I turned sixteen two men from the Gestapo came in and took me and three other boys… I don't know if they are still alive or not, but I was taken to Gestapo Headquarters and was told to answer the phones, and to do paperwork." Hochstetter raised a brow at this and said.
"I didn't know that you were forced into the Gestapo." The Major admitted not knowing about this until now. Ritter looked over and nodded his head.
"Yes Herr Major. I was placed in a uniform, and was to do whatever they wanted me to do." All looked over toward Mary when she spoke again.
"Well Ritter, after the war; you can do whatever you want to do." She said with a smile. Ritter smiled and told her.
"I do like my job, and after the war; I would like to still be in the law field… and please you can call me Levi." He said with a smile. Mary nodded her head then looked over toward her uncle.
"You are very good at your job Ritter, and there is a reason why you are one of the youngest Captain's the SS has." Ritter smiled at hearing this from his boss.
"Danke Herr Major." Newkirk watched the two in front of him until he felt his loves eyes on him. He glanced over and saw Mary's snowy blue eyes narrowed at him. He smiled wide at what she asked him.
"You showed them the last drawing didn't you?" Her eyes watched her love smile and take a drink of his coffee. She placed her hands on her hips and leaned toward him then added. "You did." Newkirk only smiled at his love.
"Yes I did." He finally told her. Mary narrowed her eyes again when she replied.
"Why can they see the drawing and I can't?" She asked him; then looked over when she heard her uncle speak.
"Nichte don't you want to be surprised when you see it?" He asked her. Mary sighed and said.
"Yes in away, but I…" Hochstetter's words cut in at this point again.
"Then you will have to wait until the dress is done. Your sweetheart wants to surprise you; you should let him do that for you. You do so much for him and everyone around you; you can wait until later on to see the dress." He told her. Mary sighed and nodded her head.
"Alright I will wait, but this will drive me crazy though." All there laughed lightly at this. They all then looked over when Hogan walked threw the doorway.
"What is going on in here?" He asked. Mary smiled and told her father.
"Peter was showing Uncle and Levi the dresses he made." Hogan's eyes looked down and saw the dresses on the bed. His eyes went wide at what he saw.
"Newkirk you made all of these?" He asked him. Newkirk felt his face heat up as he nodded his head.
"Yeah I did." Hogan walked into the room, and looked at the dresses up close. Newkirk then remembered something that his love had told him not long ago. Mary looked over toward her Huntsman when he said her name.
"Mary, didn't you have something for all of us to try?" He asked her. All there watched Mary's eyes widen as well as her smile.
"That's right I have the star fruit for all of us to try." As Mary said this; she quickly walked out of the room. All the men walked out into the living room as Mary went to get the star fruit. Hogan looked up at the front door when it opened. He narrowed a brow when his love walked threw the door. Klink looked up when he heard his love speak.
"I thought that you were at your office?" He asked him. Klink sighed and told him.
"I needed a break, and so did Hilda and Regina. They are at the Kommandantur drinking coffee, and I wanted to come over and see my daughter and son." Newkirk smiled at this. Mary walked back into the other room with the cut star fruit on a plate. She walked over to her love first, and handed him a piece of the fruit. As she moved around the room handing the fruit out; she spoke.
"Vater, what are you doing here?" She asked him. Klink smiled and told her.
"I wanted to come over and see my sweet daughter and my son." He told her and took the fruit that she handed him. Mary sat down the plate with one hand; while in the other she had the fruit.
"Well I am glad that you did come see us. Now you can try the star fruit with us." She said with a smile; then added. "I had heard that star fruits were very good." Mary took a bite of the fruit, and hummed at the taste. All the men in the room smiled then took a bite of theirs.
"Oh this is good." Said Hogan.
"Yes this is very good and sweet." Said Klink as he took another bite.
"It's sweet, but not too sweet." Said Hochstetter with a smile.
"I think this might be my new favorite." Said Ritter also with a smile. He looked over when Mary asked him.
"What was your favorite before Levi?" Ritter smiled when he heard Mary say his first name.
"It was plums, but I think that this is better." Mary smiled at him and told him.
"Oh I love plums too." She said with a smile; then looked over toward her love when he didn't say anything.
"Peter? Do you not like them?" She asked him. Newkirk said without looking away from the fruit in his hand.
"I wonder if you can somehow put these in a cake?" He asked mostly himself. He as well as everyone looked up when they heard Mary yell out.
"Peter that is a wonderful idea!… Now how can I put these in a cake?" She asked herself. All there chuckled at her; as Hogan leaned over toward Newkirk and said.
"You gave her an idea." He said with a chuckle. Newkirk looked and said while chuckling.
"I think I did." Newkirk looked back over toward his love and thought to himself. 'I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you.'
-MN-
Mary walked out of the kitchen with a plate of food. She walked over and placed the plate on the table, and looked over toward her father and her love who were sitting on the sofa. They had been talking about something before Mary had entered the room, but had stopped when she had came into the room. Mary raised a brow and looked at the both of them. They both smiled at her, and got up to walk over to the table. Newkirk sat down in his chair and looked at his love. They both looked over when Hogan pulled out his chair, and looked at his loves empty chair. With a sigh; Hogan sat down. Both Mary and Newkirk looked at each other, and knew that Hogan was missing Klink. Mary started to fill her loves plate with the fish and chips when the front door opened. They looked up and saw Klink walk threw. Hogan smiled wide at the sight of his love.
"I thought that you were going to be working late?" He asked him. Klink hung his coat up as he spoke.
"I was, but I am tired and I know that Hilda and Regina are. I sent them home, but they will be back tomorrow though." He said as he walked over toward the table. He smiled wide at the sight of the food; then added. "Is this what I had for lunch?" He asked. Mary nodded her head then said.
"Yes in away. I had just made the fish, and the chips. But if you want me to fix you something else I can." She told him. Klink looked up at her with a large smile and replied.
"No you don't have too. What you fixed for lunch was very good, and I really don't mind eating it again for dinner. I have to say Peter; I now know why you love this dish. I do believe this is my favorite way to eat fish now." He said with a smile, and a chuckle. The two in love smiled wide at this; then Mary started to fill her plate. Klink looked over to start to fill his own plate, but found that it was no longer there. He glanced up at his love. Hogan smiled as he filled his loves plate; then sat it down in front of him. Klink went to ask him why, but Hogan told him.
"Because I wanted to." He said with a smile. They all started to eat their food. Newkirk told his love that the food was very good. Mary smiled at him; then looked over toward her Vater and asked him.
"So Vater, when are you going back to medical school?" Klink looked up from his plate, and looked at his daughter; then over toward his love when he spoke next.
"Yes Will, when are you going to go back?" He asked as he took a bite of his food.
"I will call Kreizler tomorrow after I get the paperwork done." He told them.
"Sure you will." Said Newkirk as he took a drink of his tea. Klink looked over toward the younger man with narrowed eyes.
"Why are you three pushing me so hard to do this?" He asked them. The three looked at each other; then the two men held out their hands for Mary to tell him.
"Well Vater, we all want you to finish your dream. Peter and I are going to do our dream, and we want you to finish yours." She told him with a loving smile. Klink smiled at this; then a thought came to his mind. He looked over toward his love who glanced up to see him do this.
"What?" Hogan asked him.
"Robert, what is, or was your dream?" He asked him. This caught Hogan off guard. He looked to the side and said what he had wanted to do for along time now.
"I would love to write…"
"Write? What would you write about Papa?" Asked his daughter. Hogan looked over and told her.
"I would love to write books about anything really. I would like to write a novel, but I don't know if I would be good at it though." He admitted. Klink smiled wide at hearing this.
"I'll tell you what." Hogan looked over toward his love when he spoke.
"What?" He asked not knowing if he wanted to know or not.
"You start writing in one of the books Kreizler gave you, and I will call him in the morning like I said." Klink said with a smirk. Hogan leaned forward and narrowed his eyes and brows at him.
"Alright I will, but only… after you call Kreizler and I know that you have. Then and only then will I start writing." Klink's smirk fell at his loves words. With a loud sigh; the older man gave in.
"Fine I will call him tomorrow after the paperwork is done…" Klink saw his young love go to say something, but he added. "Robert, the paperwork has to be done tomorrow and no later." He told him. Hogan sighed and nodded his head. Mary and Newkirk smiled at knowing that their Vater was going to finish his dream, and that Hogan was going to follow his own.
After dinner; Mary was sitting in the living room on the sofa with her love. Newkirk laid his head onto hers and sighed as he hugged her. Mary smiled at this; then got an idea. She moved away from her love while giving him a loving smile; when he gave her a look. She walked into their bedroom. Newkirk looked over toward the doorway when Hogan and Klink walked out. The youngest man smiled when he saw the man who he saw as a father sit down in one of the chairs. Hogan smiled as well; then looked around the room.
"Where did Snow go?" He asked his best friend. Newkirk looked over and told him.
"She went into our bedroom." He said then looked over when his love walked back out of the room. Hogan smiled when he saw what his daughter had went to get. Mary sat down and pulled up her legs on the sofa, and laid against her love once again. Newkirk smiled as Mary opened the book that was in her hands, and started to read to them.
"The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas." Hogan moved and sat down in the free chair, and started to listen to his little girl read to them.
As Mary read the book; she got into it. All the men would smile when she started to do different voices for the different characters. Hogan laid his head back and closed his eyes. 'This is how she must have felt when I had read to her.' He thought to himself as he slowly fell into sleep. In the other chair; Klink had already closed his eyes. He was in a deep sleep before Mary had even gotten to the third page of the book. Newkirk on the other hand; had listened to his love read to them up until page twenty-five. He closed his eyes and listened to his loves sweet voice as she read. It was around page twenty-eight; is when Mary herself could feel her eyes getting tired and heavy. She close the book and sat it in her lap; then looked up. A large smile came to her face when she saw her fathers sound asleep in both chairs. Mary looked over toward her love and saw him laid back, and also in a deep sleep. Mary smiled to herself, and laid against her loves chest.
"Goodnight gold heart." Was the last words she spoke before sleep clamed her.
Klink opened his eyes to see his nonblood son, and daughter asleep on the sofa. He smiled to himself, and sat up. He looked at his watch and it was two in the morning. The older man stood up, and looked over to see his love asleep in the chair that was beside his. With a smile Klink walked to his daughter's and son's room. He walked over to the bed, and pulled down the blankets. Walking back into the living room; Klink took the book out of Mary's hands, and sat the book down on the table. He reached over to pick her up, but stopped when he felt a hand grab his arm. Klink looked over at his sleeping son; then back down at his arm. 'He is in a deep sleep, still wounded, and he still has this much strength.' He thought to himself. Newkirk had the older man's arm in a vice like grip.
"Peter, I'm just taking Mary to bed; then I will come back and help you." Said the older man in a low whisper. Newkirk opened his eyes slowly to see the older man standing in front of him. He raised a brow when he saw Klink wince out of pain. His eyes moved down to the older man's arm and his hand. Newkirk woke more when he realized what he was doing. He let go of the man's arm and said in a low voice.
"I'm sorry Tad… I didn't mean too." He told him. Klink smiled and said also in a low voice.
"I know, but at least you can still protect Mary." He said with a smile. Newkirk smiled at this, and let the older man pick up his love.
Once Mary was in Klink's arms; he carried her to the bed. He placed the young woman in the bed and covered her up with half of the blankets. The older man looked over toward the door when he heard someone walk into the room. He smiled at his son as he got into bed, and laid beside the young woman who had his sons heart. Klink smiled and covered Newkirk up; then leaned down and kissed the younger man on the forehead, and wished him a goodnight. Newkirk smiled at this, and thought to himself. 'Not even my own father, or my mother ever did that.' Klink moved around the bed, and leaned down to kiss Mary on the forehead. He whispered the sleeping young woman a goodnight; then made his way over to the door, and closed it softly. Klink then walked back into the living room, and saw his love still asleep in the chair. 'This is going to be hell.' He thought to himself. With a sigh; Klink walked over to his love. He leaned down and tried to wake the young man who had his heart.
"Robert come to bed." He told him. To his shock; Hogan opened one eye and looked at him. The young Colonel then opened the other eye as he sat up. Hogan looked at the sofa with tired eyes.
"Where is…" He went to ask, but his love told him.
"I already took Mary to bed and covered her and Newkirk up."
"Oh okay." His love said in a sleepy voice. Hogan stood up and walked toward their bedroom.
Klink followed Hogan to the bedroom; then went to change into his night clothes in the bathroom. When he came out of the bathroom; he saw his love in bed with his clothes and shoes still on. With a sigh; Klink walked over and started to take some of his loves clothes off of him. Klink took off Hogan shoes and sat them near the bed. He then took off his loves hat and sat it on the nightstand. As the older man moved to take off his loves jacket; he heard the younger man say in a sleepy voice.
"Not now Will I'm tired." Klink rolled his eyes at his young love.
"Robert, I am not trying to do that,… and I am too tired for that as well." He said to the man that probably didn't hear him.
After some of his loves clothes were off; Klink went back into the living room, and started to turn off the lights. He moved around the room and turned off one light at a time. It was when there was one light left on; is when he looked over toward the phone. With a sigh; Klink walked over and picked up the phone. He said the name of the person that he wanted to talk too. He waited until he heard a tired voice answer.
"Who the hell is this?" The voice asked. Klink chuckled at the sound of his friends voice.
"Laszlo it's me…" Klink didn't have time to finish speaking when Kreizler asked quickly.
"Will what is it?! Is something wrong with Mary, Newkirk, Hogan, or…"
"Nothing is wrong… I just wanted to tell you that I want to go back to medical school." The German Colonel listened to hear what his friend would say; then when he heard nothing he said his friends name again. "Laszlo?"
"I'm here; I just can't believe what I just heard." Klink chuckled at this; then heard his friend add. "I will send over the books on what has changed, and what is new."
"Danke Laszlo." With that Klink hung up the phone, and turned off the last light. He made his way over to his and his loves bed and laid down. The older man smiled as his love moved himself into his arms, and sighed a happy sigh.
"I love you my witty fox." Was all Klink said before closing his eyes and falling back to sleep.
