Summary: Loosely inspired by an episode of Gilmore Girls. Fairy Tail has a snow sculpture competition….

Pairings: General friendship

YouTube Prompt: Gajeel tribute to 'Freak' by KISS.

Instead of a snow ball fight like they usually did, Master thought it would be a refreshing change to hold a snow sculpture competition. That instead of fighting one another and destroying half of the town, Fairy Tail should try to actually create something.

"It would give you all some culture," he explained, "You could use some of that."

(They all tried to not feel so insulted at that…and failed miserably as they all howled indignantly.)

And so all of the members stood there in the freezing cold and they split into groups and laboured over trying to make something pretty.

Natsu sat aside, scowling, as Happy and Lucy banished him after he melted the first few handfuls of snow when he tried to help. (He often had to sit out of snowball fights too seeing as his very touch melted the snow. Did Natsu mention how much he hated it when other people had fun when he didn't?). Erza was sculpting furiously with her swords cutting into the ice and snow while the rest of her team (consisting of a nervous, wide-eyed, Wendy and an disinterested Charle) looked on and Gray was being a show off as he used his magic to make an intricate, sparkling, model of Magnolia down to the very last detail.

It was rather obvious that Gray was going to win this before they had even started it but the fact he was showing off was just making it worse for the likes of Natsu.

"Gray shouldn't be in this competition!" Natsu protested sulkily. "His magic gives him an edge! He should be disqualified for using magic!"

"There's no rule against using magic, Natsu," Lucy pointed out. "Levy's doing exactly the same thing."

All she did was use her pen to make the words SNOW and ICE out of snow and ice with a & made out of both. It looked very artistic and modern...but was incredibly lazy if you asked virtually anyone else who was huffing and puffing as they tried to mould snow with their bare (okay, gloved) hands.

Like Lucy and Happy who were trying to make a snow maid using Lucy's old maid costume to dress it. Unfortunately the snow maid was coming out fat and lumpy and falling apart ever so slightly.

"It's still cheating," Natsu muttered, "especially when it's ice magic."

"You're just jealous," Gray smirked, "because you can't make things like this!" he flung a hand at his ice sculpture and conjured a little Fairy Tail insignia to stick on the guild building.

"Whatever!" Natsu grumbled. "Tell me when this farce of a competition is over."

He then got up and began to make his way to the guild building when he suddenly tripped over thin air and flapped about comically before he crashed into Gray's ice sculpture, hands first, and melted it.

"….Oops?" he offered with false innocence.

"You little shit!" Gray barked. "You did that on purpose!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

Gray and Natsu were right up in each other's faces, their noses squashed against one another's, as they glowered furiously.

"DID NOT!" Natsu bellowed.

"DID TOO!" Gray screamed back.

And with that they simultaneously punched each other in the face and sent each other flying. Gray crashed into the Strauss siblings' snow beast sculpture and went right through the snowy chest to land on top of the Thunder God Tribe's snow fairy while Natsu went through Erza's and landed on top of Levy's crushing the word SNOW completely.

Erza's face went red with fury.

The others weren't that far behind as they all turned their furious glares at either Gray or Natsu.

"Prepare," Erza whispered in a deadly voice as she whipped out her sword, behind her Levy's pen glowed ominously, Evergreen pulled her glasses down, and all three Strauss' transformed into something terrifying, "to die."

Natsu and Gray screamed.

…And that was how the new tradition of snow sculpting immediately regressed into the old tradition of a snowball fight with the usual chaos, property destruction, and fire thrown into it.

Master wept frozen tears of despair at the sight. "I don't even know why I even bother!" he wailed.
