Summary: Once again, Natsu takes a saying literally.

Pairings: Natsu/Lucy/Happy friendship.

YouTube Prompt: A tribute to Laxus to 'Call Me' by Shinedown.

Natsu, Lucy, and Happy had been walking for hours now.

They had completed a job in a tiny village miles and miles away from home with minimum destruction (a rarity) but they only managed to keep enough reward money to pay Lucy's rent hence why they were walking home instead of getting the train. They had also forgone food which was beginning to become a regret for all of them.

"I'm hungry!" Natsu moaned. "So, so, hungry."

"Me too," Lucy said miserably.

"Aye!" Happy agreed.

"I'm really, really, hungry," Natsu carried on, "like really, really, really, really, really-"

"We're all hungry!" Lucy snapped impatiently. "I'm so hungry that I could eat a horse!"

It's as if fate was mocking her because as soon as they turned round the corner they were confronted with the sight of a horse. It was a beautiful horse - tall, strong, with glossy fur, and a well-kept mane. It was obviously someone's pet that had escaped.

Natsu lit up in delight at the sight of it. "And you can!" he shouted. "Look Lucy! A horse!"

Lucy blanched at the thought. "I'm not eating that!" she barked.

Happy and Natsu blinked dumbly at her in unison. "But Lucy," Happy said, "you just said you could eat a horse."

"I didn't mean literally!" Lucy snarled. "It's a -"

"DINNER!"

Lucy watched in horror as Natsu dived at the horse. Somehow, miraculously, he had a napkin tied round his neck and a knife and fork glimmering in his hands. Without hesitation, Natsu stabbed the horse with his fork and lifted his knife up ready to -

"NEIGH!"

The horse's eyes bugged out comically as it reared backwards and swiftly kicked Natsu's hard with its hind legs.

Natsu flew across the road and slammed into a tree before he slowly, painfully, slid down it and landed on the dusty ground with a soft thud.

Lucy and Happy rushed to his side immediately. "Natsu, you moron!" Lucy shrieked as she ducked down onto her knees and stared at him intently to assess the damage. "What were you thinking?!"

"L-L-Lucy?" Natsu stuttered as he blinked rapidly. "Urgh!" he groaned as he rubbed the back of his head. "What did you kick me for?!" he pouted. "I didn't do anything to you!"

"What are you talking about?!" Lucy snapped impatiently as she assured herself he wasn't bleeding at the back of his head. "I didn't kick you!"

"Well," Natsu muttered darkly, "it felt like it."

Lucy scowled at that as she felt anger bubble up within her. "Are you calling me a horse?!"She yelled furiously.

"….Yes?"

"LUCY KICK!"

Natsu once again flew across the road and landed into another tree. Happy let out a horrified scream as he flew to check on Natsu (who seemed to have mini-Happy flap about his head, or at least that's what he claims when Wendy checks him for a concussion later) while Lucy stomped off furiously.

On the plus side of this entire incident Natsu was in too much pain, Lucy too cross, and Happy too busy enjoying teasing Lucy about being mistaken for a horse, for any of them to now feel hungry.

Natsu still whined all the way home though.
