Erza sighed miserably.
It was a beautiful, hot, summer's day and they were on a glorious beach with golden sands and the most stunning deep turquoise blue ocean that sparkled beneath the sun as they had cold drinks by their side and all the fun they could want at their fingertips….and Erza was still being an utter misery guts as she curled up beneath the umbrella sighing every five seconds.
It was beginning to get on Lucy's nerves.
Erza sighed again only this time much louder as she melodramatically flopped backwards on her beach towel.
Lucy's eyebrow twitched but she remained determined to keep her temper (no one wanted to court Erza's temper after all!) and enjoy her book.
Erza rolled over, closer to Lucy, and sighed once more.
"Erza!" Lucy snapped irritably. "I, err, mean, Erza," she said in a more gentle tone as quickly as possible, "is there something the matter?"
"Yes," Erza said solemnly, "I am missing Jellal and it is turning me into a crazy person."
Lucy was mildly surprised by that. Although he was now pardoned, Jellal did spend a lot of time away working on his quest of redemption while Erza was equally busy with her own job requests. It had been quite some time since the two of them had been together but Erza has never allowed herself to be seen bothered by it all. Let alone admit that she was actually missing him.
It would make her look weak and Natsu and Gray would tease her for it after all.
"That's perfectly natural," Lucy said soothingly, "I get a little crazy sometimes when Natsu has been gone too long."
She also went a little crazy when Natsu spent too much time with her, invading her bed, invading her shower, eating all of her food….why did she like him again?
"That's not it, Lucy!" Erza shook her head rapidly. "I think I'm literally going insane. Every guy looks like Jellal to me." Well that certainly explained why Erza screamed in Gray's face yesterday. The sight of her boyfriend's face being mentally plastered onto Gray's naked body is rather traumatising. "the lifeguard over there looks like Jellal, the boy eating his ice cream looks like Jellal back when we were kids, Happy looks a bit like Jellal, I could have sworn he had gotten a tattoo this morning, and look!" Erza pointed frantically at a guy far too overdressed to be on a beach, "that guy in the cloak looks exactly like Jellal!"
"Erza!" Lucy cried out exasperatedly. "That is Jellal!"
"WHAT?!" Lucy spluttered as Erza leaped up so quickly she sprayed Lucy's face with sand. "Jellal?!" Erza screeched. Her face as scarlet as her hair with embarrassment but her eyes were equally bright with delight.
Jellal smile shone just as brightly, breaking though his solemn, serious façade, as he lifted a hand up to wave. "Erza!" he called out.
"Jellal!"
"Erza!"
Lucy watched simultaneously envious and shocked at the sudden romanticism Erza and Jellal were displaying as they did the slow run cliché into each other's arms. She could practically see the sparkles and flowers bounce off of them as they slowly made their way to each other with their arms outstretched.
"Jellal!"
"Erza!"
"Jellal!"
"Erza!"
"Jellal!"
"Erza!"
"Jellal!"
"Erza!"
"Jell-"
BAM!
Lucy's jaw dropped open in horror as Natsu suddenly tackled Erza to the ground before he abruptly jumped up (standing on her back and causing her to yelp slightly in pain) and punched his fists into the air.
"VICTORY!"
Jellal just stood there gormlessly, his arms flopping about, as he tried to figure out exactly what just happened. Natsu, however, paid him no attention as wiggled about in a victory dance unaware of the dark, furious, aura of sheer hatred growing beneath his feet.
"NATSU, YOU MORON!" Lucy shrieked. "Why the hell did you just do that?! You just spoiled an utterly romantic moment!"
"What are you on about, you weirdo?" Natsu laughed childishly. "It was a race and I won!"
"You….you….you…." Lucy shook her head wordlessly. "….urgh," she gave up as she flopped back onto the sand and picked up her book. "Boys!" she muttered to herself.
"Natsu," Erza's voice came out strangled with fury as she summoned a handful of her deadliest weapons, "prepare to die!"
"EEK!"
