Chapter 14:
The wedding was a complete failure. Katara knew she messed up big time but at least, Ozai didn't back down. He still married her in the end, regardless of his anger towards her, he still went through with it. Sighing as she brushed her hair for bed, Katara saw Ozai in her vanity mirror and averted her eyes as he narrowed his eyes at her.
"You must have had it planned in advance." Ozai said. "Always scheming to take me back."
"Ozai, you know damn well I would nev-"
"I'm only kidding, waterbender." He smirked and then drank from his flask. "Quick thinking on your part. Quite sly for someone like you but I wouldn't expect less from you."
Katara raised a brow and spun around to look at him, "So, you're not mad."
"Oh, I'm furious. I'd strangle you to death right now if it wasn't for the fact I want to bend you over for a lesson in 'you fucked with the wrong man'." Ozai tossed his empty flask aside and came upon her with liquor on his breath. "How about you bend me over, waterbender?"
Katara's eyes widened.
Smirking, "You'd like to fuck me, wouldn't you? Just like you fucked me in front of all those people, our family, and the gods."
"Oza-"
Grabbing her around her waist and taking her to the bed, "Come, let's hash out our differences in bed. I need to make you see things my way."
An hour later, Katara was panting and tried to climb out of bed but Ozai dragged her back into it. He took her selfishly and had his way completely. He extracted everything he wanted from her and spilled into her multiple times. She told him she was tired but he was far from finished, taking his anger out on her until he was complete.
It was nearly dawn when he was done and Katara never felt more sore in her life. She just curled up in bed and prayed to the gods he didn't get turned on again. He turned into a beast and she barely recognized him as he was sprawled out in bed with himself completely exposed. Katara threw the covers over him as she did not want to see his naked ass.
"I need water." Ozai rasped as he was out of breath.
"I bet you do, you wild animal."
Smirking, "You know you liked it rough."
Katara bashfully hid a smirk under the covers as she pulled it to her face.
"I accept your apology." Ozai told her as he put his hands behind his head.
"What apology?"
"The one you gave when I had you pinned." Ozai smirked. "'Ozai, I'm so sorry! You're gonna kill me like this!'" He mocked her voice.
Katara took a pillow and hit him several times with it. "Grow up!"
"You first." He laughed.
…
A few years passed and Project Republic City was complete. Many people from all over had already lived there for quite some time by the time the city was in full completion. Ozai had several inventions already implemented in the city, such as the rail system for public transportation and electricity in every home and building within the city. Several statues were erected of those who either made efforts in the project or in ending the hundred years war to allow this to even be possible.
As a measure to get Zhiar into being more productive, Ozai sent him to Republic City to sit on the council and represent the Fire Nation. It was Zuko he'd answer to but it was his father that oversaw his productivity. Ozai didn't exactly trust his son wasn't getting caught up in the cute skirts he saw walking down the busy city streets but Zhiar turned out to be really good at his job and became a popular politician in the public of the city.
Amongst the success of Republic City was the successful leadership of the Phoenix Empire's new queen. Phoenix Queen Katara had been a very active and popular figure in the Phoenix Empire, working diligently to see to the prosperity of the people. She often left the safety of the palace in order to fulfill the needs of the people, humbling herself to handle those that were sick, aiding in helping the homeless build homes, and speaking to villages less fortunate in order to personally hand out supplies. She was loved and the Phoenix King couldn't help but feel pride in his wife's climb to popularity.
Kissing her breasts as he held his wife in his lap after not seeing her for several days due to her travels to the northern provinces, Ozai looked up at her and flashed his gold eyes. "I've missed you, dear."
"You always miss me."
"Because you're always gone."
"I have work to do."
"Your duty is to me, they can wait."
Katara rolled her eyes and pulled back up the lining of her dress and climbed out of his lap, straightening her hair out. They had gotten a little heated with her back as Ozai never seemed to keep his hands to himself and she was all too willing to give in to him. They were finally together again and it felt so good.
For the past three years things had been peaceful for their family and prosperous. Much had changed for them. Zuko was finally dating and while he hadn't told anyone who the lucky mystery woman was, they were all elated for him. Kya was doing well as the head of the Totomi clan and also seeing someone. Zhiar was, of course, doing great in Republic City. Mailan was growing up so fast and so were Hiroshi and Jotaro. Ryu came out to them about his preference and while it didn't sit well with his father, Katara and Ozai accepted him, allowing him to stay with them while Zuko sorted things out with himself on the matter. Their family was big and possibly growing.
Ozai had agreed to have more children under the condition that Katara dyed her hair to her original chestnut color. She quickly agreed to this and the couple had been trying for all three years that her hair had been its original color. However, there were a few bumps in the road as Katara was struggling to conceive and Ozai knew it wasn't his doing. He literally gave it his all every time they tried but it wasn't happening. So, they agreed to take a break from trying and focus on everything else in their life, like…
"Ryu is bringing home a boy from school tonight for dinner. Be on your best behavior." Katara told her husband.
Ozai snorted and side-eyed her, "So we're going public with this now?"
"Ozai, you said it yourself when Ryu first told us that the world would eventually see him as no different from anyone else." Katara folded her arms and eyed him.
Rolling his eyes, "I meant in the future but right now, do you really think it's a good time for that?"
"You sound like Zuko."
"No, Zuko kicked him out after he came out, I let him stay with us because I understand first hand." Ozai folded his arms and eyed his wife.
"Zuko did not kick him out, he asked us to let him stay with us."
"Same fucking difference! Anyway, my point isn't that Ryu can be open and honest or whatever but him having a boyfriend right now isn't ideal. We need to be focusing on strengthening every abled member of our family as Atsou could attack at any point." Ozai stressed. "If Ryu gets a boyfriend then we have to look after the boy and his family."
Katara sighed as she saw his point.
"Look, I don't give a rats ass if Ryu is gay. You know that but this goes for all the kids, no boyfriends, girlfriends or whatever unless they are inhumans." Ozai expressed this to his wife.
He then had this conversation with Ryu and Mailan causing them both to roll their eyes at him.
"Don't roll your eyes at me, you two."
Ryu rolled his eyes again as Mailan yawned.
"Daddy, I don't even like boys right now. They get on my nerves." Mailan flipped her hair.
"More, like you get on their nerves." Ryu snickered.
Mailan punched Ryu in the shoulder, "Shut up!"
"Ow! I was just kidding!" Ryu punched her back.
Ozai grabbed both of them and held them away from each other, "Listen up, no fighting, you two should have each other's backs, got it?!"
"Yes, grandpa."
"Yes, daddy."
Setting them down, "Now, go run off and do your homework, if I get one more letter from either of your teachers about you two failing something, I'm going to shove my boot up-"
"Dad," Kya showed up, swaying over to her father and shooing her younger siblings away. "You can't talk to them like that?"
Ozai wore a deadpan expression, "Ryu and Mailan are lazy little spoiled rich kids. If I don't talk to them like that, they'd get nothing done."
Kya giggled, "Maybe you're right. You were a lot harder on me."
"And you turned out to be the best of my children." Ozai smirked as he walked his daughter to the archives where he planned to go after lecturing his two brats.
In the archives, Ozai pulled out a few books for Kya on royal family trees and handed it to her.
"What piqued your interest in the world's royal lines?" Ozai asked her as he searched for another book to give her.
Kya skimmed through each book, "I'm curious of the birth defects family's of royal lines had since they typically married in their family."
Ozai snorted, "My first wife and I were 2nd cousins. My father and mother were 1st cousins. And you see what that did to the family."
"Yeah, no wonder you're batshit crazy." Kya giggled as she continued looking through.
"I promise you you have nothing to worry about with Jotaro. He's a fine boy. You got lucky that your mother wasn't tied to any of the royal lines, so your blood would be diluted, unaffected by the madness of incest." Ozai explained to her.
Kya shook her head, "But on your side, the Totomi clan is just a branch from the Yong Clan."
"Still diluted due to your mother, Kya."
"But I need to know anyway, dad. This is important to me and I wouldn't be asking your help on this if I didn't need to know."
Ozai sighed and nodded, "Very well, here are more books on the royal families of the Fire Nation. Is not as accurate as the ones back home but they have all the important details here."
"Thank you, dad." Kya kissed her father on the cheek and carried the books off with her through a portal.
…..
Returning home to the Fire Nation, Kya decided to pay her older brother a visit and bring some of the sweets her mother gave her to enjoy with Jotaro. Her son needed no sweets but Zuko could use some. As she made her way into the palace and was bowed to by the nobles and servants, Kya found her brother speaking with a minister. She paused behind him and beamed as he slowly turned around to see her.
Smirking, "Sneaking up on me, Kya?"
"Not really. I just didn't want to disturb your conversation." Kya explained.
Zuko patted her head, "I would have rather you did."
"I'll remember that next time."
Zuko offered her his arm and she took it, handing him a pouch of sweets.
"Mom made them for Jotaro but you know that child, he'll bounce off the walls."
Zuko nodded, "So, I take it, you want me to bounce off the walls?"
"Please?" Kya asked. "I'm not good with sweets anymore and I know you still enjoy my mother's food."
Zuko took the cooks and placed them in his pocket, "Speaking of your mother's cooking, what's on the menu for tonight?"
Kya told him a Fire Nation cuisine per her father's request. Apparently, he hated Water Tribe dishes and threw up in front of the kids two weeks ago during the dinner they missed due to work. Thank Agni, they were not in attendance.
"He's such a jackass." Zuko scoffed.
Kya nuzzled her face against Zuko's arm, "He is but I love him. He's a big goofball."
Zuko sucked his teeth, "I don't see what you all see. He's still a monster to me."
"I know but he's changed, Zuko. I know you know that. How long has it been? Over thirty years since he scarred you?"
Zuko paused and looked at his sister, "Kya, would you forgive him?"
"I forgave you when you shoved your hand through my guts."
"That was different."
"It left a mark, Zuko. I still have it." Kya placed her hand on her belly.
Zuko walked his sister to his office and she pulled up her dress to show him. He quickly pulled it back down and eyed her funny as she snickered.
"Zuko, you act like you've never seen me-"
"That was one time, Kya! And we swore never to speak of it again!" Zuko hissed.
Kya looked at him seldomly, "But Zuko, I already told you I didn't care if it was wrong. I lov-"
Zuko put his hand to Kya's mouth and shook his head, "It was a mistake. Neither one of us were thinking straight and it doesn't help that we've been depriving ourselves."
Pulling his hand from her mouth, Kya pulled it to her face and used it to caress her cheek. "I love you, Zuko. I wish you'd return my feelings."
Snatching his hand away, "Kya, I love you too but not in that way."
"Very well, Zuko." Kya said as she looked away from him, "We should get ready for dinner tonight. You know how my mother feels about late stragglers."
Arriving at dinner with Jotaro between them, Kya and Zuko didn't look at each other. Zuko understood his sister was very vulnerable being a young single mother with her child father's completely out of the picture due to his death. He knew what it was like being a single parent. He hated it. Not having his son's mom with him while their son was growing and developing. Katara was there but not like he would have wanted her to be. With him. But Kya had to understand, he was her brother. Something like which she was wanting was taboo and would get him killed by her parents. His father wasn't even the one he worried about. It was Katara. She was psycho when things turned sour and this was as sour as it got. It was a moment of weakness and a lot of alcohol that caused them to end up having sex on his sofa. Agni was it wrong as hell but it happened and Kya just needed to forget it.
Katara greeted them both with warm hugs, kissing them both on the cheek and smiling as she cupped her grandson's face.
"Jotaro, you've gotten so big?"
"Thank you, Grandma Tara." He spoke with his munchkin cheeks.
"Aww, and manners." Katara kissed his cheeks and pinched them.
Ozai walked up to them and hugged his daughter as she held her arms out to him, "I know I just saw you but with these kids driving me nuts, it's always pleasant to see you, my golden child."
Kya laughed as her father hugged her tight.
Ryu and Mailan showed up and as Mailan went to hug her brother, Zuko, Ryu just stood there staring at his father. Zuko stared back as everyone was getting situated at the table. Ryu decidedly took a seat between his mother and grandfather, right in front of his father, whom he was not pleased with. Seeing the standoff, Katara sighed and looked at Zuko.
"Are we doing this every week when we have dinner together?" Katara asked as she was disappointed that Ryu and Zuko were still not on speaking terms.
Ozai scoffed, "What do you expect when a father kicks his only son out of the house?"
Zuko glared at his father, "Oh, you would know."
"Yes, I would." Ozai said all too casually. "My father kicked me out at three years old, I kicked you out at thirteen, and you kicked Ryu out at fifteen. I think it runs in the family."
"Fuck family, then." Ryu said as he pouted.
"Language, young man!" Katara shouted as she turned her gaze on her son.
"He's right, ya know." Zhiar said as he finally rolled in. "Sorry, I'm late, Ma."
Zhiar kissed his mother's cheek as he went and sat by Kya.
"Ma?" Katara said with a twisted look of confusion on her face.
"Yeah, new slang out in Republic City. Amazing place. We've gotta have dinner at my place. I have skyscrapers in my dining room view." Zhiar told them.
"We'll have dinner at your place next week, Zhiar, but first, I want to understand why you would say 'screw' this family, Ryu?" Katara looked at the teen.
Ryu pouted and folded his arms as he looked to his father, "Because…how can my own father reject me like that because I'm different? I mean, grandpa said he knew for years."
"Cause your grandfather is a faggot." Zuko snorted
"Zuko!" Katara hissed.
Ozai shrugged and ate a dumpling from the plate out in front of the tray in front of him. "Nice dumplings, dear."
Zhiar, Mailan, and Ryu's mouths dropped.
"You actually like men, dad?" Zhiar asked. "I thought that was a joke?"
Kya chuckled, "He fucked Grandpa Hakoda."
"What?!" Zhiar was about to faint from shock.
Ryu looked to his grandfather, "You're like me?"
Ozai took another dumpling, "Can we just eat already and stop talking about pointless shit. Who the fuck cares what I do in the bedroom? Wanna hear about what I did to your mom last night?"
"No!" They all shrieked in unison.
"Okay then!" Ozai stuffed his mouth. "For fucking Agni's sake, you people care about the stupidest shit!"
Katara looked at her husband, "Ryu is upset, Ozai."
"Because his father is a dick. Case closed."
"Ozai!"
Ozai snatched the tray of dumplings off the table and stood as he bit into one more. Speaking with his mouth full, "Look here, you annoying brats, Ryu's gay! But guess what else he is? Lazy as hell, won't do his school work even though I know he's capable, and is just as good at making sweets as his mother. If you're still hung up on him being gay, well, I'm sorry but fuck you."
Ozai skulked off with the dumplings as Katara sighed and held her head in her hands on the table. She was not sleeping in the bed tonight. Ozai might have made a point but she told him about his terrible lack of tact.
Grabbing a bowl of noodles, "Well, family dinner is ruined." Katara sulked as she put noodles on her plate and handed it to Ryu.
"Sorry, mom." They all said in unison.
…
Panting as she wielded a staff, Mailan tried keeping up with her father but he kept swiping at her feet. He nearly got her if not for her quick reflexes. Everyday for a year they had been going at it. Mailan claimed to want to be a part of the guard squad to protect her family and innocent people. Ozai made it clear that she would have to train carefully for that to happen. So, he trained her himself. Didn't go easy on her and left her having to be tended to by his mother. It was necessary for her to have a realistic idea of what she was trying to get into. Though human, Ozai's guards were not simple, they were efficient and skilled. Mailan would need to be the same if she wanted to be a part of that group.
"Focus!" Ozai yelled at her as he swung the staff at her head and she just barely dodged it. "If you can't focus, what good will you be as a guard?"
Mailan tried striking but her father countered and knocked her on her back, jabbing her in her gut. It knocked the wind out of her but she needed it. A wake up call.
"Focus!"
Getting back up, Mailan whipped the blood from her saliva from her mouth and focused her vision on her father.
"Now, that's what I mean by focus." Ozai said as she circled his movements and stalked his steps. "Make sure you match your opponent. Too slow and you're dead. Too fast and you miss, then you're dead. Got it?"
Mailan nodded as she continued to track her movements.
"Show me your strength." He told her.
Mailan spun around and swung her staff down on her father but he blocked with his staff.
"Try weighing me down."
"I can't." She said.
"I didn't ask you if you could, I said weigh me down!"
"But I can't!"
Ozai shoved her staff off his and swept her under her feet, jabbing her in her gut again. "You don't listen, Mailan."
Wincing in pain, "Sorry, dad."
Shaking his head as he offered her his hand and she took it, "Next time, you had better do as I said or it'll be a world of pain, got me?"
Mailan nodded as she followed her father to the bench and sat beside him. He drank some water from his canteen and handed it to her. As she took a sip, Mailan tried working up the courage to ask her father something. She knew he'd be a little sensitive to it as it was a question that was of the sensitive nature but Mailan had to know. It was important for her to know.
"Hey, dad." Her palms sweated a little as she rubbed them together.
Drinking the last of the canteen, "Yes?"
Swallowing hard as she looked down at the ground in front of her, "Can you tell me about my real dad?"
Ozai paused and looked at Mailan, "Why do you want to know about that buffoon?"
"Because…he's my father." Mailan said carefully. "And I wanted to know more about him, to understand more about me."
Snorting, "You're your mother's child. All of you kids are. No need to think about that bastard that sired you."
Mailan shifted her eyes to her father and looked pleadingly at him, "Please, dad, tell me something. Anything."
Sighing as he caved, "He was a clown, a moron, an idiot. But even more than that, he was a rapist and did horrible things to your mother. Now he's dead as he should be."
The young teen looked at her father with dissatisfaction in that answer, "Is that all? Could it be you just hated him and won't tell me anything?"
Furrowing his brows at Mailan, Ozai gets up to his feet and looks down on the poor girl. "Yes, I hated your father. Watching him die was the most satisfying experience I've had next to fucking your mother and the only way to make it better would have been if I had killed him myself!"
Mailan looked tearfully at her father as she couldn't believe what he was saying. How could he be so heartless and say something like that? She knew her father was a grumpy man with an anger problem and a colorfully disturbing vocabulary along with terrible phrasing but he never intentionally said anything hurtful to her and this was hurtful.
"I only wanted to know where I came from." Mailan began to cry.
"Well, you came from an amazing woman but your father wasn't worth the shit off my boots!" Ozai yelled at her before storming off.
…..
It was one of those nights that Katara put together in order to get her husband to relax after she noticed him stressing over things. With the family on shaky grounds and his ministers riding his ass about Republic City getting more of his attention than the Phoenix Empire, Ozai had been in a poor mood for weeks. She just wanted to cheer him up or rather get his mind off of the things bothering him.
Dressed in her blue lace lingerie, Katara wore her hair completely down and red lip paint for that look he always liked on her. She had the hot oils and champagne by the bed to rub him down and let him relax from his long day. Katara even made sweets to go with the champagne and had rose petals all around with candles lit by the bed with the lights turned low.
As Ozai entered their chambers, Katara climbed out of bed and hurried over to greet him. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he leaned down to kiss her and look around.
"What the fuck is this?" Ozai raised a brow.
Katara shrugged awkwardly as she took his arm and pulled him into their bedroom. "Nothing much. Just some romantic way of getting you to relax."
"You can get me to relax by telling me why your children are so damn disrespectful." Ozai scoffed as he almost tripped over a candle. "Shit! Are you trying to burn down the bedroom, woman?!"
"No, I'm just trying to calm you down. Lay on the bed, I'll give you a massage."
Ozai disrobed and undressed to his loincloth, laying down on the bed as she asked. When he did, the waterbender climbed on his back and bended hot oil on her hands before starting with his upper back. He immediately groaned in pleasure as he had been so tense over the last few weeks and sorely needed this.
"Ah! Right there, sweetheart, go a little higher." Ozai murmured into the pillow as he hugged it to his face.
Katara gladly did and asked, "So what did one of 'our' children do that has you ticked off?"
"Mailan, she wanted to know about Arnook." Ozai sneered.
"Well, I don't see how that's disrespectful? She's just curious about her real father."
"I am her real father!"
"Yes, you're right. You are. I meant her biological father." Katara continued to massage his back, working her way to the middle.
Furrowing his brows as he buried the lower half of his face into the pillow, Ozai mumbled all he's done for Mailan since taking her as his own, only so she can ask about her 'real' dad. Well, fuck him. Arnook never gave a damn about Mailan. He just used her to punish Katara. Now, if Mailan was a boy, things might have been different as far as how Arnook treated her but Arnook didn't give a damn. That was just how he was. Ozai knew it when he saw the girl for the first time. Looked just like how he pictured Katara to look at that age. She was just a little girl and she looked like no one had ever given a fuck about her wellbeing. Ozai took her and never looked back on the Northern Water Tribe again. To hell with them for mistreating the child. Ozai had fed, clothed, provided shelter for the girl and became a loving father to her. Ozai loved Mailan no differently than he loved Kya or Hiroshi. She was his child and he hadn't thought a lick about Arnook after all these years. Now, he was thinking about that piece of shit.
"I understand, baby."
"Do you?" Ozai lifted his head a little to ask.
Katara nodded as she rubbed his lower back and got him to chew on his pillow as his eyes rolled into the back of his head. She smirked and felt his muscles loosen up completely. He was fully relaxed, her magic massage worked and she was all too proud of herself.
"So, babe, want to work up a sweat?" Katara asked as she finished his massage and watched him sit up to rotate his shoulder blades.
"Not in the mood, waterbender." Ozai told her.
"But-"
"Night, sweetheart." He kissed her lip and then rolled onto his side facing away from her.
Katara just stared at him with a flabbergasted expression, Okay…
…
Kya was in the marketplace with Jotaro holding her hand when she saw what looked like Zuko talking with a group of ladies while his entourage of flame guards stood by. She furrowed her brows at this and strutted over with Jotaro strangling along to match her pace. As she reached him, his flame guards stopped her and looked her over before letting her through as the flames could tell whether someone was a hostile entity or not. Passing by them, Kya tapped on Zuko's shoulder and watched him wave goodbye to the women as they left. When he finally turned to face her, surprised to see her out today, Kya tilted her head and folded her arms.
"Finally going on the market?" Kya asked him.
Zuko side eyed her as he fixed the cuffs of his sleeve, "We've talked about this, Kya."
"It wasn't a mistake, Zuko. As soon as you understand that, you know where to find me." Kya said as she took Jotaro with her and resumed her shopping.
Zuko watched as his sister swayed her hips over to the shop across the way and tried not to notice the way she put in effort to look absolutely stunning. Sighing as he ran his hand through his hair. Damn it!
Later that day, Kya had tucked Jotaro in as Lady Shu kissed his head and walked out the room with her.
"You're still young, Kya. Have you given thought to finding a lover?" Lady Shu asked. "I know you love my Uhara but he's been gone for some time now and he wouldn't want you to be alone like this."
Kya sighed and shook her head, "It's just not in my deck of cards, Lady Shu."
Lady Shu placed her hand on Kya's arm and shook her head, "You are a stubborn child, you know that?"
"My father would agree with you." Kya chuckled.
"I'm sure he knows better than I."
As the two women said their goodnights to each other, Kya headed to her room and was surprised to see Zuko standing in the middle of her sitting area when she slid the door open. Quickly, sliding it shut, Kya greeted him.
"Zuko, is there something wrong?"
"Yes, something is very wrong." He told her.
"What is it?" She seemed concerned.
Zuko ran his hand into his hair and gripped it, "A sister shouldn't want her brother in that way, Kya. And a brother shouldn't want her in return. It's wrong."
"Says who?"
"Everyone! It's one of the great taboos! We'd be ostracized from society if they ever found out. Not to mention, your mother and our father would kill me. Do you want that to happen?"
Kya walked up to him and cupped her hands to his face, "I don't want anything bad to befall you or I but Zuko, we're alone in this world. You and I both. Why can we find solace with one another? Even if we are siblings, we're only half and I'm sure that counts for something."
"It counts for your parents killing me!"
"I won't let them and besides, they never have to know." Kya looked him deep in his eyes and caressed his face. "Zuko, I love you, I truly do but after what happened, I can't just be your sister anymore."
Grabbing her wrists, "Kya, we can't."
"Let's just try it out, see where it takes us if it's anything at all." Kya whispered to him as her eyes traced down to his lips.
Zuko's eyes were focused on her and before he could stop himself, he leaned in to capture her lips. He kissed her passionately as her arms swung around his neck and they sank down onto the sofa behind them. They eagerly pulled at one another's clothes until there was nothing. Zuko pulled her leg up to his shoulder as he took her there on the sofa and the two made love in that spot. It was desperate and heated. Needy. They had been deprived of comfort like this for long and the thrill of knowing it was all wrong only egged them on to make the most out of it.
When completion was reached, Zuko grabbed her jaw and kissed her hard as he stuck his tongue in her mouth. Pulling back but still holding her jaw, he looked her deep in her eyes.
"We have to be discreet, Kya, understood?"
Kya nodded.
"I mean it, if anyone finds out, it'll be our funeral."
"I won't let them hurt you."
"Hopefully, it'll never come to that." Zuko whispered as he kissed her one more time before breaking away from her.
Kya felt the cold hit her body as soon as he pulled away and Agni and La, did she hate it. But at least, it wouldn't be cold forever. Zuko got dressed and kissed her again before heading through the portal and Kya laid there on her sofa naked, not wanting to get up from the spot where they acknowledged their true feelings for one another. She hoped it would last and that one day, they wouldn't need to hide it.
…..
A/N:
Katara and Ozai are going to have a field day kicking Zuko's ass if they ever find out. And poor Mailan just wants to know about her biological father while Ryu wished his would just accept him. At least Katara and Ozai are on a good page. It's time for the rest of the family to get it together before Atsou comes back with a thrashing for the all.
