She had been so clever about it.
She found the job and she had seen the name of the client clear as day. Normally she would have passed it over but the reward money was good to cover her rent and ten some and it wasn't too strenuous or far away, and she really couldn't resist the temptation.
So she had worked hard to hide the name from Natsu as she slapped his hand away from the job request repeatedly. When they met the client for further information she had ran interference to keep Natsu from discovering the name. And when they were in the middle of completing the job she had even managed to prevent Natsu from causing too much damage.
It was working so well….
Up until they were in the middle of being paid by the client.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" the client said enthusiastically as they shook Natsu's hand. "You were amazing!"
"You're welcome Mr….erm," Natsu laughed sheepishly, "sorry, what is your name again? I forgot."
"Oh, no problem," the client shrugged, "its Mr Lowcock."
"Pfft! Ha, ha!" Natsu snickered childishly. "Does it like to hang out then?"
Lucy face palmed.
They had been so close!
