To N1cok: I'll flesh it out more in the next chapter, but in one of the previous chapters, Wheelo had a device that suppressed his ki to his original level before he spliced his DNA with S-Cells.

To SuperSaiyanFever: Videl's probably going to go their next saga. But you're correct about Gohan's reasoning.

To abyssdoor: I freaking love your comment, man! At least I know you guy like how I kept Videl's original personality. I love how she challenges Gohan.

To Ushindi:

1. I don't have an opinion of Vomi. She's mentioned by name. She and Android 21 are two different characters, which 21 is based on in-universe.

2. I prefer Broly's Super incarnation. His Tarzan energy speaks to me.

3. She has to be a housewife. Gohan and Goten need a mother before anything else because Goku places fighting as his top priority. Chi-Chi's role keeps her family somewhat grounded in the crazy shit storm that is the world of Dragon Ball. She doesn't always have to be seen doing things that housewives do. I would love to see her run the hands with hands-y pigs and muggers because she's badass like that. But, to me, Chi-Chi's greatest strength is her nurturing and passion to care for her family. Her complaining and screaming at her family represents how much she cares about them. And I'll be honest, I rather have a mother of nags and barks at me than a mother who doesn't give a damn about me and is always out. So now, Chi-Chi as a housewife is important to me. She keeps the family together.

Last time on Dragon Ball Z: PRIMAL, Gohan and his friends learn of a brand new tournament which is hosted by X.S. Cash and Dr. Yanagi, also known as Dr. Wheelo. When Gohan showed no interest in the event, Videl manipulated Gohan to reluctantly join out of self reasons. Thanks to a wake-up call from Cocoa Yanagi, Videl swallowed her pride and gathered the courage to apologize to her friend. Gohan, after being convinced by the Supreme Kai to accept his position, accepted Videl's apology and learned to treat Videl like any other warrior. What happens next? Find out, now!

Gravity Chamber, Son Residence, Age 774

A bruised and cut Videl was sent to the ground, landing on her back hard. She got up from the attack, looking haggard and tired.

The girl wore a black tank top that showed off her midriff, dark green leggings, and matching red boots with red fingerless gloves. Her pigtails remained as they were, tied by golden clips.

She stood to face her teacher, Son Gohan. From the look on his face, she could see that the friendly bookworm was replaced with a more stern and firm instructor who did not intend to make this training session easier for her in the slightest.

Of course, it wasn't supposed to be. After all, she did push to train up to 8x Earth's gravity. And boy, was it difficult to move. It was times like this when Videl wished she had some of that Saiyan DNA. Envy aside, the challenge only fueled her desire to beat the odds further.

The panting girl continued to try and rush down her teacher, who had a handicap of only using physical attacks while she was free to use ki attacks.

Gohan merely weaved his head around Videl's barrage of kicks, then caught her roundhouse kick with one hand.

Taking her ankle, Gohan spun her around five times, then threw her to the wall north of them. Videl recovered while backflipping in mid-air, landing on the wall. Using the momentum of the throw, she propelled herself forward with ki surrounding her right leg to perform one of her father's techniques.

"Dynamite Kick!"

Gohan braced himself with the attack as it came at him, guarding himself with his forearms. When it came into contact, the hybrid was sent backward on the floor, forcing him to slide back until he stopped.

The girl then held one hand to shoot five ki blasts in Gohan's direction. After doing so, she then placed her palms close to each other, but far enough so that they didn't touch each other. She closed both sets of her pinky and ring fingers as she channeled her energy from her body to each hand. This manifested as yellow electricity coming from the extended fingers, creating a sphere of ki that quickly grew to the size of a medicine ball cloaked in sparks.

After she was finished charging her attack, Videl screamed, "Garuda Cannon!"

The girl fired the sphere, sending the deadly ball of ki at Gohan's path. Gohan slapped and kicked the ki blasts out of the way, then took both hands and separated the Garuda Cannon in halves, allowing them to safely detonate away from himself and Videl.

Videl tried to sneak up on him with a leg sweep, but Gohan disappeared out of her field of vision.

"What the!?" Videl gasped. "Where did he–!?"

Reappearing in front of her, Gohan stood tall with his firm gaze never leaving his face. While she would never admit it, seeing Gohan holding confidence and authority as a fighter and a person in general only further gravitated the girl to him. But Videl couldn't lose focus right now. She had to win.

She waited for him to make his next move. Much to Videl's surprise, Gohan merely stated, "Yield. I've already won."

Feeling her pride take a blow from his words, the irate threw her strongest Megaton Punch, landing a clean blow across Gohan's face while shouting, "Like hell I am!"

The force of the blow shook the entire Gravity Chamber, which also made Gohan turn towards the right by being struck in his right cheek. Videl's rage subsided as the hybrid Saiyan remained calm, but steadfast as he stood his ground. She noticed that his irises glowed a golden yellow that was both beautiful and alluding to the crime fighter.

Videl subconsciously took back once she realized that her attack only managed to leave a small scratch on Gohan.

As a response to Videl's punch, Gohan merely extended his arm while placing his hand flat with his index and middle fingers together. Upon pointing at Videl's solar plexus as the fingers were barely touching the fabric of her tank top, Gohan tapped Videl's midsection with a one-inch punch, taking Videl's breath away and causing her to crumble down to the ground as a painful wheezing mess.

Turning around, Gohan casually said, "And that concludes today's training session."

While the boy walked over to the control panel to reduce the gravity to normal, Videl was catching her breath from the painful blow her teacher gave to her gut.

'...Holy shit! …This guy is a damn slave driver! I know I asked for him to stop babying me, but this is downright torture! And I doubt Goku-san taught him this. Gohan-kun must have picked up a thing or two from that Piccolo guy he trained under.' Videl concluded as she felt her body on the verge of near collapse.

Fortunately for her, Gohan came in clutch with a towel, a bottle of water, and a capsule full of lunch that Chi-Chi prepared for her, giving Videl that bright cheery smile she'd grown to adore.

"Here, you've earned it," Gohan said genuinely.

-Timeskip, Thirty Minutes Later in the Son Household-

When Videl's training was finished for the day, the two took turns taking a shower and changing back into their normal clothing while Chi-Chi washed their training clothes.

Back in their usual attire, Gohan and Videl went inside the living room to discuss school and the tournament, now that they have more information about it thanks to Barry and Erasa.

"So, how is everything on your end? Did you find anybody interesting to go over in the slideshow?" Videl questioned.

Gohan nodded, saying, "Yeah. Dr. Briefs was a great help in the research process. Plus, I had the privilege of interviewing him, which some of it is featured in the slideshow."

"That's great news! How far are you in your part, though? Are you just about finished?" Asked Videl.

Gohan gave her a thumbs-up, causing Videl to pump her fist in the air and cheer.

"Yes! That means both of us are finished! Now, to wait for Sharp, E, and Bar–"

Suddenly, both of the teens get an e-mail from Sharpner, Erasa, and Barry on their phones.

A surprising but elated expression was shared between the two of them.

"Wow! All of them are done with their parts!" Gohan gasped in shock but was still happy.

"Even Sharp's lazy ass pulled through! Hell yeah! Now we can spend the rest of the week training before the tournament starts!" Videl gushed.

The sounds of cheering caused Goten to join in on the cheerful festivities randomly.

Stopping for a minute, Goten chirped, "–Uh, why are we cheering again?"

Gohan chuckled as he greeted his brother.

Ruffling his hair, Gohan greeted, "Hey, squirt! We're just excited that we get to have more time to prepare for that tournament I told you about."

"Really? Does that mean I get to train with you, big brother?" Goten questioned with stars in his eyes.

"Sure thing, Goten." Gohan promised. "You joining us would be a big help."

"Yay!" Goten cheered while bouncing up and down. "I can't wait! I'm gonna train my butt off and go super before Trunks does!"

Gohan blinked in surprise at his younger brother's declaration.

Videl smiled, nervously laughing as she asked him, "Aren't you a little young to be going blond, kiddo?"

Goten shook his head, saying, "Not by that much, big sis! My brother was ten when he became a Super Saiyan and ascended. If he can do it, then so can I!"

Remembering Gohan taking his turn to fight Cell seven years ago, Videl smiled at Goten's attitude as she encouraged, "That's the spirit, Goten! Keep on pushing until you break your limits! And who knows, you may be able to surpass your brother one day."

"Yeah!" Goten chirped, before turning to Gohan. "Watch out, big brother! You better train hard because I'm gonna beat you someday!"

Gohan smiled back as he said, "Will do, Goten. I'll be waiting until that day."

Like that, Goten nodded and then ran back outside.

Turning back to Videl, Gohan asked, "What do we know about the tournament so far?"

"Well, Dr. Yanagi and X.S. Cash settled on Cocoa's name. The Dai-Yōsō-Ken Būdokai, or the Great Elemental Fist Martial Arts Gathering. But we can call it the Elemental Tournament for short." Videl started to explain. "So, apparently, anybody seventeen and older can register for it. Up to two hundred contestants will be slotted and will have to duke it out in the preliminary round until there are eight people left."

"Uh-huh."

"From the top eight, there will be special areas for us to fight in. And then, there will be a final arena where the top four, semi-finalists and the finalists could take the stage and finish the tournament." Videl finished.

"Different arenas, huh? That's fascinating. They're really trying to pull all of the stops for this event." Gohan commented.

Sighing, Videl added, "Yeah, and whoever wins not only gets 100,000,000 zeni, but they get 'honor' to face the world champ."

"Wait. Hold the phone, Mr. Satan is involved in the Būdokai!?" Gohan shouted in surprise. "Are you serious!?"

Videl rolled her eyes as she explained, "It's not too hard to see why. Because of dear old Dad's lies, he's been losing business partners, which is making his wallet take massive hits. The only reason why I'm still financially stable is that I have alternate sources of income and that I don't spend much. So, when Cash called dad with the offer, he took it."

"Ah," Gohan understood, giving the girl a nod. "I get it."

A smirk appeared on Videl's face as she pushed her fists together.

"All the more reason to win this thing. That way, I can knock some sense into that old man." Videl said, imagining herself clocking her father out of the ring and flashing her victory hand signs to the camera.

A bead of sweat ran down Gohan's head as he imagined Videl accidentally sending Hercule out of the ring and to the stratosphere.

"Yeah… Let's not get carried away, alright?"

"I make no promises, Wonderboy." Videl huffed before asking, "Say. Since you're competing, you're not thinking of disguising yourself, are you?"

Much to Videl's surprise, Gohan denied this as he explained, "No. I considered it, but that would mean that I'd have to hide who I am. While I rather not be the center of attention, being true to myself is much more important to me than what other people think about me."

Videl then added, "Hmph! Damn straight, it is! Screw what people think, you're a real fighter too! Ki user or not!"

Suddenly, a thought came to the pigtailed girl.

"Hey, I have a question." Videl brought up.

Tilting his head, Gohan responded, "Alright, then. Shoot."

"Are you planning to tell your dad's friends about the Elemental Tournament?" Videl questioned, tapping her chin. "From what Sharpner told me, Tien is going to be there to spectate and support him as his teacher."

Thinking for a moment, Gohan started to consider the option. While there wasn't much of a chance that the other fighters of the Dragon Team would join in on the fight, maybe gathering together to watch him and his friends fight for fun would bring back the feeling of the old days for them.

"You know what? That's a great idea, Videl. I'll give Bulma and the other's a call. Maybe they'll get some excitement out of watching us go head to head. It'll definitely remind them of the old days, that's for sure."

"I hear you," Videl nodded, also adding, "I suppose Goku-san would be stoked if he was here to see this, huh?"

Gohan smiled sadly, saying, "He would have been thrilled. And knowing him, Dad's probably going to bug King Kai to tune into the tournament the moment he finds out that I'm participating in it."

Videl cocked her eyebrow while crossing her arms.

"You're joking right?" Videl mused with a smile.

"Honestly, I wouldn't place it outside of the realm of possibility." Gohan chuckled. "This is my dad that we're talking about, here."

"Even still, aren't dead people supposed to be all ghost-like? How's a dead guy going to have access to any technology, let alone a T.V.?"

-Meanwhile, on North Kai's Planet-

King Kai was currently outside playing go fish with his monkey, Bubbles, sitting at a table while a TV was playing a random commercial.

"Got any threes, Bubbles?" King Kai questioned.

The monkey chatted for his owner to pick up a card. King Kai grumbled, as he now had ten cards, while Bubbles only carried three cards in his hand.

Suddenly a pillar of light caused them to stumble and fall on their faces. Appearing from the light were Goku and Old Man Gohan.

Bubbles got up and noticed Goku. Happy to see the Saiyan, the monkey ran up to him and gave him a hug, which Goku happily returned as he patted his head.

Turning his head, Goku waved his hand, greeting, "Hey, King Kai! Long time no see!"

The lesser Kai got up from the ground, rubbing his head as he glared at his alumnus.

"Damn it, Goku! You can't just barge your way to my planet unannounced! The last time you did that, you got me and Bubbles killed and I was left homeless!"

Scratching his head while laughing, Goku said, "Sorry about that. Probably should have said something before coming here."

"Yeah, you should have!" King Kai barked while sitting back down on his chair. "I swear, this is why I stopped talking to you for a couple of years… What are you and your grandfather doing here, anyway? I thought you were training."

"Well, Goku here has been making very promising results since he's started his training with Lady Annin and me." Grandpa Gohan proudly answered. "So, I figured he deserves a break from all the hard work he's done. He also wanted to visit you to show the fruits of his labor."

King Kai's frustrated expression turned into that of curiosity.

"His progress, huh?" King Kai parroted. "Well, why didn't you say so? Alright, Goku. Let's see what you can do now. Show me you've learned so far."

Goku and Old Man Gohan looked at each other, with Goku's grandfather giving him permission. The Saiyan smirked, then closed his eyes as he channeled his divine energy. The calming aura surrounded Goku, allowing it to take the form of a fiery red aura. That aura caused his hair and irises to turn magenta red, his body to lose muscle mass, and his power to increase.

Bubbles and King Kai gawked in astonishment, with the god stuttering, "I-I don't believe it. G-Goku! You've done it! You have divine energy! But what happened to you? What is this new form?"

"I'm glad you asked, King Kai. After a few months of intense conditioning, mediation, and self-reflection, I've tapped into a power long forgotten by the Saiyan race. Grandpa and I call this the Transcended Saiyan, but you can call this what the ancient Saiyans did. The Saiyan God."

King King was rendered speechless as he felt the sheer presence of the new transformation, which dwarfed the power of Goku's recently acquired Super Saiyan Level Three by several dozen-fold.

'Unbelievable! It hasn't been four months and he's already gotten an incredible grasp on using Godly ki!' King Kai thought to himself while he further inspected Goku's demeanor. 'Wait a moment. Something seems to be different about him. I can't put my finger on it, though.'

"Impressive, isn't it?" Old Man Gohan asked nonchalantly. "I had that same reaction too."

Bubbles and a startled King Kai could only nod in agreement before Goku powered down back to his base form.

Suddenly, King Kai's T.V. began running an advertisement that caught Goku's eye. The commercial showed a bird's eye view of two islands that were relatively close to each other while a complex and futuristic building sat on the larger landmass while a few smaller facilities surrounded the larger one. A female voice began speaking to the viewers in an excited manner.

"Today is an exciting day, as it marks one of the biggest events in history since the Cell Games! Thanks to X.S. Cash and his collaboration with Willow Industries, we now have the privilege to see the battlegrounds of the newly dubbed Dai-Yōsō-Ken Būdokai!" Said the female Announcer.

"So, this is where the next Būdokai is being hosted? The times have surely changed since my day." Grandpa Gohan reflected.

"There's a new Būdokai? What happened to the Tenkaichi Būdokai? And why aren't they hosting it at the temple?" Goku questioned, slightly saddened at the change.

"Oh, that's right. You see, Goku. The traditional Tenkaichi Būdokai had been canceled due to an accident while the temple was being renovated." King Kai explained. "Thankfully, someone else decided to make their own, which is what you're seeing on the T.V. here."

"I get it. But, I wish that they at least made it similar to the Tenkaichi Būdokai. I don't like the fancy high-tech carnival look." Goku expressed while crossing his arms.

As the others watched, they got to see the different shots of the islands and their facilities from the outside and a sneak peek of the final arena. The commercial then showed the blonde-haired green-eyed announcer as she continued to speak.

"Wow! Such a sleek and intricate design, truly worthy of high praise! Let's go to one of the co-sponsors, Xavier Saint Cash; and find out what the Dai-Yōsō-Ken Būdokai is!"

The camera then transitioned to the mansion of X.S. Cash, where he sat outside on a chair next to his wife, Lotta, and his son, Monty.

"Yes. My son Monty, here, has expressed his fascination with the tournaments that were held yearly by the committee over at the temple. Since it's been canceled, unfortunately, my partner in Willow Industries and I made the choice to create this event as a gift to my son and to those who share the same love for the tournament as himself, my partner, and me."

"Papa? Is it true that the strongest fighters will be there?" Monty questioned with excited eyes.

Cash winked at his son, promising, "Yes, of course, it is! You can do anything you want in the world if you have enough money."

Grandpa Gohan sighed at Cash's response as he thought to himself, 'When will people learn that materialistic value cannot be true happiness or fulfillment in life?'

An interview from inside the room asked,

"Producer, could you please explain?"

Cash's producer, who was to the right of X.S. Cash's family walked toward the camera and explained, "Mr. Cash is sponsoring the greatest martial arts competition in the world.

One that encourages combatants as young as seventeen years of age to enter, regardless of sex or professional standing to challenge themselves to outlast everybody else and make it to the end. We're hoping to draw the strongest contestants from all over the world to see if they can handle fighting in simulated weather conditions. They can battle to their heart's content. The winner gets 100,000,000 zeni. He also gets a trip for his whole family to visit hot springs all over the world."

"Man. With all of that zeni, there's no doubt that Chi-Chi would have made me go to fight in this." Goku stated, putting his arms behind his head and whistling. "Not to mention she loves hot springs. And I don't blame her."

Cash also announced, "But wait, there's more! Thanks to my partner, Dr. James Yanagi, and my own wealth, it is possible for the winner of the tournament to meet the hero that saved the Earth at the Cell Games! Please give a warm welcome to Mr. Hercule Satan!"

While the camera moved to a staircase where there was a curtain that Hercule was supposed to come out of.

People began to mutter, wondering where the 'world champ' was, only to hear the sound of the man's laughter and the sound of helicopter blades.

Everybody, including the camera crew, moved to see the man himself, standing on a helicopter as he boastfully laughed and flashed his victory signs in both of his hands.

"YEAH!" Mr. Satan bellowed as his laugh echoed for everybody to hear.

The producer then announced, "It's Mr. Satan! The champion of the world and Earth's Savior!"

"Eh!?" Goku cried, pointing at the television. "That's the guy that Cell knocked into a mountain! Why are they calling him the Earth's Savior?"

King Kai snorted, trying to hold his laughter.

"Get a load of this bozo!" King Kai chuckled, trying to hold his laughter.

Puzzled, Goku then asked, "What's so funny?"

Grandpa Gohan added, "Yes, who is this man?"

"Well, I forgot to tell you this. After the Cell Games, this wackjob ended up convincing the world that he defeated Cell. But he's landed himself in hot after the Cooler fiasco. Now, he's gone and placed himself in this event to reclaim his former glory! Ha! Like that's gonna happen. " King Kai chortled.

"He's a martial arts champion, I presume?" Grandpa Gohan asked.

"Uh-huh! That's right! Mr. Satan won the Būdokai after the one I won." Goku answered.

Grandpa Gohan and the others watched as the eccentric Mr. Satan took out a capsule from the shirt of his gi. Once the man pressed down on the capsules button, he tossed it down as it popped open. When it opened, five stores of bricks appeared landing perfectly on the floor. Like a daring superstar, Hercule jumped from the helicopter that hovered nearby the mansion and proceeded to break all of the bricks in one chop.

Goku, smiling at Hercule's bravado, complimented the man.

"Hey, that wasn't half bad! He did chop them in half without any ki!"

Gohan nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, and technique was great, albeit flashy."

"Oh, boy! I can't wait for this shindig! Maybe one of the kids can finally shut this guy's trap for good!" King Kai gushed, with his pet monkey dancing beside him.

Goku caught wind of that and asked his former teacher, "Kids? What kids?"

King Kai then revealed, "Ah, that's right! You're going to love this, Goku! I've been keeping an eye on your family. Apparently, your eldest and his new school friends are entering this tournament."

The new information took Goku by surprise as he screamed, "What!? Gohan's entering!? You're kidding!"

The catfish-looking Kai shook his head with a smirk on his face.

"Nope, it's true! Your son's going to be competing. One of his friends just so happens to be Mr. Satan's daughter, and she's the one who convinced Gohan to join. Funnily enough, your son has been spending a lot of time teaching her how to control her energy."

"Oh, wow! I never would have thought he'd take on a student so early. Gohan sure has changed since the last time I've seen him." Goku said with pride filling his heart.

"It sounds to me that your eldest son has come into his own as a young man. I bet you must be proud of him." Grandpa Gohan smiled.

Goku nodded, saying, "You bet I am! I'm the proudest dead father in all of Other World! Hehe!"

King Kai continued, "Wait, that's not all! One of Videl's friends had recently become Tenshinhan's student. With all three of them entering, it should make this new tournament a tad more exciting."

Goku's eyes glinted with sheer excitement as he imagined his son duking out with his student in front of thousands of people. It brought him back to the days when he trained under Mūten Roshi with Krillin and fought against the likes of Nam, Jackie Chun, Tenshinhan, and Piccolo Jr.

Grandpa Gohan saw this and smiled, already knowing what his grandson was thinking.

Turning back to King Kai, Goku grabbed his shoulder and abruptly asked, "King Kai, when is this new tournament? I've got to watch it here and I can't afford to miss it!"

"Woah, take it easy! The Dai-Yōsō-Ken Būdokai will start this Sunday. If you want to, you can stay here with me until it starts. I'm sure your grandfather has to attend to his duties with Tajoro." King Kai offered, causing Goku to take his hands off him.

"That sounds like a splendid idea. I'll come by that day to watch it with you and Goku. I'll even prepare some lunch for the occasion." Old Man Gohan agreed.

Goku cheered, pumping his fist in the air as he said, "Alright! This is going to be great! My son's gonna be entering his first real tournament!"

'And I can't wait to see how far he'll get!' The deceased warrior hyped in his thoughts.

East Coast, Battle Island I, Age 774

A week had passed since the unveiling of the project. That meant that it was time for the tournament to begin. Dr. Yanagi, Mr. Satan, and the Cash family had entered the largest building in their private tower. There was a food court a mile by the docks where there were families gathered by an ice cream truck. Overhead, planes flew in the air while leaving behind colorful vapor trails. The planes then formed a cloud shape of Mr. Satan's face before flying through it.

Fireworks began to set off, celebrating the grand event.

Gohan, Goten, and Chi-Chi had arrived on the island using their gray hovercar that the Ox-King gave his daughter two years ago.

Gohan's attire changed once again for the tournament. The shirt of his gi was a dark purple which possessed his surname on the left side of his chest as an emblem and as a larger symbol on the back of his shirt. The shirt was tied down by a baby blue sash. That sash was turned to the left side. He wore dark blue pants, orange Shaolin leg wraps, and matching armbands.

Upon arrival, Gohan and his family went over to the registrations to show the receptionist proof of his valid registration forms while Chi-Chi and Goten showed them their tickets as spectators.

When they were done, the Son family took their time to enjoy the scenery of the main building. Chi-Chi decided to take the time to buy Goten an ice cream cone while purchasing an ice-cold lemonade for herself

"This looks so cool!" Goten gushed while holding his treat. "It's like a huge carnival!"

"I know, right?" Gohan agreed, taking a look around for himself.

"It's certainly much different from the tournament that I was in," Chi-Chi admitted. "It's so distinct that I almost that was at some sort of festival. I'm not so sure if your father would have wanted to come here if he didn't know if there was a tournament here."

"That's fair. This place is a bit eccentric. The doctor really pulled off the stops in this place. Makes wonder what is in store when the fight starts?" Gohan pondered aloud.

The small group continued. While doing so, a middle-aged man with short blond hair wearing shades noticed Chi-Chi and adjusted his shades.

He decided to walk closer until he was in view of the family. The man then turned to see Goten and noticed his face and hair.

'Wait a minute. That hair, and that face! That can't be a coincidence!' The blond-haired man realized.

Sensing the man, Goten pulled on his mother's dress while saying, "Mommy? There's a man looking at us."

Chi-Chi listened to her youngest son and set her sights on the stranger in question.

"Can we help you, sir? It's rude to stare." Chi-Chi asked, sending a light glare toward the blond man.

The man in the suit sputtered before bowing in shame.

"Forgive me, ma'am. I didn't mean to come off as strange. I just can't help but find you and your little guy familiar." The man explained. "You wouldn't have happened to be named Chi-Chi, would you?"

Gohan, Goten, and Chi-Chi all looked at each other for a moment, clearly confused.

Nonetheless, the woman gazed at the man and answered, "Yes, I am. Have we met before?"

"Wow, it is you! It's been a long time, Ms. Anonymous!" The man happily rejoiced. "I never would have imagined that you'd come to a tournament like this."

While the boys simply stared at the man with no context of what was happening, Chi-Chi laughed bashfully as she rubbed her head like her late husband.

"Oh my! People still remember that? I haven't gone by that alias in ages!" Chi-Chi blushed before asking, "Do we know each other by any chance?"

The man answered, "Formally. My name is Akira! I'm usually the announcer for the Tenkaichi Būdokai that is hosted."

Chi-Chi then gasped, "Oh! It's you! It's coming back to me, now! We met during the 23rd Būdokai."

Goten then asked, "That means that you've met my Daddy, right?"

Akira the announcer looked down at Goten and answered, "That's right! I was there when Goku first started entering them. He may have been around your age when he showed up, maybe older. Either way, his matches were some of the highlights of my career and life. Man, I wish I had the chance to see that guy again. Goku was an amazing person."

"Yes, he was. But, he left me with two fantastic children." Chi-Chi said, placing her hands on Goten's head and Gohan's shoulder. "I couldn't be any happier."

"I see… And I take it that this young man is competing, right?" Akira asked as he turned to Gohan.

Chi-Chi and Goten also turned to Gohan, who smiled as he said, "I am, sir."

Akira nodded, saying, "Well, it's great to have you here. I expected this place to be b-o-r-i-n-g! But, now there's going to be some excitement for a change! What's your name, kid?"

"Surname, Son. Given name, Gohan. In that order."

"Gohan, huh? Say, you wouldn't happen to be named after the martial artist of the same name?" Akira asked.

"Yeah, big brother was named after our daddy's grampa!" Goten chirped.

"Is that right? And what's your name, little guy?" The blond fellow questioned the child.

"My name is Son Goten, mister."

"Well, Goten. Your great-grandpa was the champion of the 8th Būdokai." Akira stated.

"Gosh, really?"

"Yes, sir-y! Your family has quite the history." Akira noted. "Well, I better get going. I'll see you guys later. Oh, and thanks for the save seven years back. I know you guys had something to do with that. Good luck out there, Son!"

Gohan only waved as Goten and Chi-Chi bid the man goodbye.

'It's nice to see that there are people out there who know how great Dad was.' Gohan thought to himself as he and his family continued to walk around.

"Hey, Son-kun! Goten-chan! Chi-Chi! Yoohoo~!"

The Son family turned to see Erasa, who was joined by Bulma, Vegeta, Trunks, Videl, Krillin, Lazuli, and Marron. Over by a tree under its shade, Piccolo stood to remain cool.

The Son family approached their friends, waving to them as they made small talk.

"Hey everybody, I hope we're not late," Chi-Chi said while bowing formally.

"You made it fairly early, Chi. Vegeta, Trunks, and I were wandering around the place where we ran into Krillin, Lazuli, and Marron. Videl and Erasa came together, and then all of us formed a group and eventually found Piccolo."

"That's great!" Gohan happily expressed.

Goten then glanced around and noticed, "Where's Mr. Yamcha? I thought he would be here."

Vegeta snorted while Krillin shook his head.

Rolling her eyes, Bulma explained, "Yamcha's a no-show. He apparently has a game today."

"Oh…"

Krillin stared at Gohan's clothes and gave him a thumbs-up.

"I'm digging the gi, man." Krillin complimented while holding Marron. "And it's very unique."

Looking at his attire, Gohan said, "Thanks. My mom made this for me, actually. Pretty neat, huh?"

"It was nothing, dear. I figured you would want a uniform that honored both your father and teacher while still having your own look." Chi-Chi explained, taking pride in her knitting.

"You've done an amazing job, Chi," Bulma said, with Lazuli, Erasa, and Videl agreeing.

When Videl approached, she lightly punched his arm.

"Glad you can make it, Gohan-kun. How do you feel?"

Scratching his head, Gohan admitted, "Kind of nervous, if I'm honest. I didn't expect there to be this many people."

"You'll get used to it," Videl stated.

Gohan looked around while asking, "I'm sensing Khan-san and Sharp-san, but I don't see them anywhere. Where are they?"

Erasa explained, "Barry-kun had to go with his father and sister for a while. He'll see you in the preliminary rounds."

"And Sharpner is currently talking to Tien-san on the other side of the island. He'll meet us in the preliminaries too." Videl added.

"Good to know," Gohan asked before turning to Krillin and Lazuli. "So, are the two of you joining? The prize money is quite large."

Lazuli then responded by saying, "It's tempting, but we already have a decent amount of cash after winning a game of blackjack."

"Yup! You should have seen her. She had the best poker face!" Krillin grinned. "Besides, I've retired anyway. I'd figure we let you kids have your chance to have your own experience first hand."

Gohan nodded, only for Vegeta to approach the hybrid, inspecting him.

The Saiyan Prince gazed upon the younger Saiyan, with his sharp eyes peering at the feet of the son of Goku, all the way to the top of his hair.

"Hey, Vegeta…"

Vegeta, looking Gohan in the eye, stated, "You've gotten stronger. Much stronger. Still, you're nowhere near my level of power."

Gohan said nothing, but he accepted Vegeta's critique.

"I've only come here to see you and your human companions wipe the floor with the miserable excuse for fighters. Hopefully, one of you will wipe that buffoon's idiotic smirk off his face. Whoever gets to him, I welcome it." Vegeta stated.

"So… We're just fighting for your amusement?" Gohan questioned, cocking an eyebrow.

Vegeta mused, "That's right, brat. You shall do battle in the name of the Saiyan race as a decree from your prince."

"You know, I've always wondered about this. Why do you still call yourself a prince, Vegeta? Wouldn't you be considered a king since your father is gone?" Questioned Gohan.

"I kind of wondered the same thing, to be honest," Krillin added.

Vegeta, rather than backing angrily or grunting, answered evenly, "Unlike you and your mother, my birthright was stripped from me the moment Frieza murdered my father and destroyed my world along with its people. Given that I'm bound to my honor as a member of the Saiyan race and the royal line, I chose to never take my father's title, for he never got the chance to pass down the throne to me. I'll never refer to myself as something or someone that I am not."

Bulma smiled at her husband for opening up, pecking him on the cheek for it. Embarrassed at this, Vegeta stalked away while grumbling about Bulma and affection, much to everybody's amusement as they laughed at the sight.

"Ladies and gentlemen! Just letting you know that the registration desk is now closed! All fighters, please make their way to their assigned platforms, as well as start the first round shortly!" The announcer said through the microphone.

Videl and Gohan looked at each other as the girl said, "That's our cue!"

Nodding, Gohan turned to the ground and waved at the group.

"We've got to get going, now! Wish us luck!"

Most of the group waved back, while some of them cried out to the two teenagers.

"Good luck, big brother! You too, big sis!"

"Stay safe, sweetie!"

"Go get 'em, Vl! And do your best, Son-kun!"

The two heroes waved the larger group goodbye before heading off.

And while Gohan and Videl were jogging, he got a telepathic message from his mental link.

(Hey, kid. Make sure you stay focused. Don't let your guard down out there, either. Your opponents should never be underestimated.) Piccolo informed, looking out for his former student.

'I'll keep that in mind, Master Piccolo.' Gohan mentally responded.

Shin mentally added. (Do remember what you've been training, Son Gohan. You must retain control of yourself, and watch what your opponent can teach you.)

'Will do, Lord Shin. I won't let either of you down!' Gohan telepathically responded, with his irises changing to golden yellow.

To Be Continued…

The tournament is now underway with our fighters approaching their respective stages. But will the others soon realize the truth behind this fabricated event? And where is Dr. Yanagi hiding? Will Mr. Satan be safe, and how long if so? Who else will make an appearance in the Elemental Tournament? Watch as the events unfold next Dragon Ball Z: PRIMAL!

Author's Note: I'm back again, probably with the shortest chapter yet.

Videl in this chapter has been quickly adapting to the training within the Gravity Chamber, as shown in the first scene. She can train for up to three hours there at the maximum of x8 Earth's gravity. Mind you, a month had passed since Goten's birthday (September).

Also, the reason why Goku did not know of Goten's existence until the kid's birthday was that King Kai stopped talking to him for a few years after he teleported to his planet with Cell before being killed and losing his planet. So, he had Goku train elsewhere for a few years to be alone. He eventually forgave Goku but forgot to mention Chi-Chi's pregnancy.

And yes, Vegeta is still the strongest fighter in the Dragon Team. You'll see why later in the saga. Yamcha is out of the picture because he's not important. So are Oolong, Chiaotzu, the and Ox-King. Roshi will appear next chapter and Tien will make an appearance later too. Dr. Yanagi and his family will get more time to shine while the significant opponents will make their debut.

Please, let me know what you guys think. How is the saga coming along so far? Who do you think will appear as a fighter for Gohan and his friends will face? What do you think is going to happen in the future? Who's your favorite character? Who would you like to see more of? And here's an interesting question. If this was a show, what Dragon Ball opening song and ending song would fit Dragon Ball Z: PRIMAL? It can be from the Dragon Ball anime, or video games, it can even be from another series. Let me know your questions, comments, concerns, and critiques by reviewing this story. Thanks a bunch for all of your support and time.

See you all later!
