The guild all sat round the stage impatiently.

It was a rather boring Saturday afternoon where, in one of those rare blue moon moments, nothing was happening. It had been agreed to let Natsu put on a show to entertain them and now after forty five minutes of waiting, the guild was beginning to regret it.

"Will you hurry the fuck up?!" Gajeel barked. "Some of us could be doing something better than this."

"Not with that attitude," Levy muttered darkly, "you could twiddle your thumbs on the sofa if you keep that up."

Gajeel scowled but kept wisely his mouth shut at that.

"He's got a point though," Gray said loudly, "I could have spent this afternoon doing something useful and entertaining like clip my toe na- urk!"

BANG!

There was a loud explosions followed by a cloud of smoke (which Gray, being nearest to the stage, was currently choking on) before Natsu suddenly jumped out and landed (loudly) into the middle of the stage.

He was dressed pretty much the same as always apart from the additional top hat, cape, and magic wand he waved about dramatically.

"Tada!" he held his arms out proudly. There was a very lukewarm, scattered applause that mostly came from Wendy and Romeo. "Thank you, thank you," Natsu bowed grandly, "Thank you for all coming. I am Natsu the Great!" he pumped a fist in the air. "And this is my lovely assistant Lucy."

There was a long silent pause as nothing happened.

Natsu frowned bewilderedly. "I SAID this is my lovely assistant Lucy," he repeated much louder. Another beat of silence as Lucy still hadn't appeared. "Lucy!" Natsu hissed to the left wing. "This is when you're supposed to come out you weirdo!"

POOF!

Unlike Natsu, Lucy seemed to literally appear out of thin air as stars and glitter seemed to shimmer round her feet. She wore a glamourous, skin-tight, pink sequin dress with matching elbow satin gloves as her long blond hair was pulled up in a high hair-do. She was the very definition of glamour.

"Tada!" she cried out as the audience burst out in a far more enthusiastic applause. "I am the Amazing Lucy!" Lucy curtsied slightly. "Feast your eyes on my magical wonders."

"Don't mind if we do!" Wakaba hollered out.

"Thank you for the invite!" Macao called out.

"I didn't mean it like that!" Lucy screeched as she wrapped her arms protectively round her bosom. "Put your eyes back in you perverts!"

"Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucy!" Natsu wailed. "What are you doing?! You're supposed to be my assistant not a magician in your own right! Re-introduce yourself as my glamorous assistant!"

"Oh hell no!" Lucy snapped crossly. "You wanted to do the cut your assistant in half trick without practising it first! There was no way in hell I was going to be your assistant after that!"

Natsu pouted at that. "But-"

"No!" Lucy interrupted.

"It would have been-"

"Nope!"

"You're my part-"

"That doesn't mean I should let you saw me in half!" Lucy said sternly. "If I am going to help you put on a magic show then I'm going to be your equal partner as a magician not your assistant."

"All right," Natsu grinned as a competitive gleam entered his eyes, "let's have a Magic Show-off!"

"….is this really the only entertainment we have to offer today?" Laxus grumbled. "Surely we can do better than watch these two perform magic tricks?"

"I can go get my guitar," Gajeel offered, "I've written some new so-"

"NO!" the entire guild shouted in unison.

"We, erm, ah, want to see who wins the Magic Show-off," Levy explained lamely, "maybe next week?"

"Hem, hem!" Natsu coughed pointedly, "for my first trick," he said loudly and grandly as he held up his wand, "behold!"

His wand flopped pathetically as the front half suddenly went limp.

The silence was almost deafening as the only response Natsu received was a crowd of unimpressed stares and the sound of birds cheeping outside.

"….is that all?" Gray drawled, "Jeeze Natsu. A long sermon in Latin at Church is more entertaining than this."

"Why you-!"

"For my first trick!" Lucy said loudly as she pulled out a slimmer wand from beneath her gloves, "Presto chango!" she cried out as she waved her wand in the air.

Her wand magically transformed into a small bouquet of red roses.

"…..Oooooooooooooooooooooooh!" half the guild cooed in unison as they erupted into applause. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

"Thank you, thank you!" Lucy curtsied as she handed the roses to Erza, "you have been a wonderful audience so far!"

"It's not over yet!" Natsu scowled. "Here!" he shoved his hand into Gray's face. "You have snot all over your face, take a handkerchief!"

"You're so lame," Gray rolled his eyes as he pulled the white handkerchief tucked into Natsu's sleeve. Unsurprisingly as he pulled a bright yellow handkerchief was tied on the end of the white one, and then a bright blue one, and a green one, and a red one, and on and on it went until Gray was covered in a multi-coloured handkerchief blanket. "Pathetic!" Gray muttered beneath it all.

"As you can see," Lucy said as she thrust her wrist into the air, "I am not wearing any sleeves whatsoever and yet…"

POOF!

A flock of doves suddenly flew past Lucy's hands and flapped around the guild building before they settled on the rafters.

"….Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" the same half of the guild cooed again as they applauded, "ooooooooooooooooooh!"

Natsu crossed his arms and sulked. So far he was failing at this Magic Show-off while Lucy was totally showing off.

"If they crap in here," Master said sternly, "you're cleaning it up."

"Understood," Lucy sad sheepishly.

"For my third trick!" Natsu jumped forwards to get everyone attention, "I am going to pull out a bunny from my hat!" he declared. He waited for an impressed cheer from his guild mates but was several disappointed. "As you can see!" he pulled off his top hat and showed the inside of it melodramatically. "There is nothing inside my ha – wait!" he interrupted himself. "There's nothing inside my hat!" he yelped. "HAPPY!" he bellowed when he caught sight of his blue cat munching of a fish by the bar. "You're supposed to be inside wearing a bunny suit!"

"Natsu, there's lots I wouldn't do for you!" Happy said sweetly. "And wearing a bunny suit while hiding in your smelly hat is one of them!"

Natsu collapsed face first at that.

So much for loyalty!

"Gihihihihihihihihi!" Gajeel snickered. "Fail!"

Lucy stepped over Natsu and picked up his hat. "As you can see," she repeated brightly, "there is nothing inside the hat. In fact it is an average, every day, top hat, and yet…. Abracadabra!"

There is a sudden familiar ding-dong sound as Lucy's hand went into the hat and carefully she began to pull out her own doppelgänger dressed up in a sexy bunny suit.

"ALL RIGHT!" Wakaba cheered. "Now that's what I call a bunny!"

"You're telling me," Macao leered, "if the bunnies magicians pulled out of hats at Romeo's birthday parties looked like that then I might have stayed sober."

"Dad!"

Everyone else applauded and cheered, utterly impressed, while Natsu's eyes zeroed in on the glimmer of gold tucked in between Lucy's fist.

"HANG ON!" he bellowed. "That's Gemini! Lucy just summoned her! That's cheating!"

"Natsu!" Gray cried out exasperated. "It's a magic show and we're all mages. It's cheating for all of us. It's not Lucy's fault that you didn't think of using your own magic in a Magic Show-off."

"…..I can do some fire eating!" Natsu exclaimed brightly. "All right!"

"Meh," Cana said dismissively, "fire eating is impressive for literally anyone else but we've seen you do it for three meals a day. That's nothing."

And with that Natsu had no choice but to concede defeat to Lucy.

….until he learns some escapist tricks with handcuffs to use at the next Magic Show-off in the bedroom.
