It was another typical, pleasant, day. The sun was shining down on them, the sky was blue, and the birds were singing as they had managed to complete a job with minimal damage. There was nothing ominous about that day whatsoever.

And yet a gigantic shudder suddenly rippled down Gray's spine without a single warning.

"Gah!"

Lucy halted to a stop. "Are you okay?" she asked him worriedly. "You're not getting sick are you?"

"No," Gray said reassuringly, "it's just my Juvia Sensor going off."

"…."

"…."

"…."

"…."

"…."

"…."

The silence surrounding the pair was deafening and Gray jumped slightly as he realised not only was Lucy staring at him blankly but so was Erza, Natsu, Wendy, Happy, and Charle. Natsu and Happy's mouths had even gone as far to drop open gormlessly. "…..you're WHAT sensor?!" they all chorused in unison.

"Tee hee!" Happy tacked on as glee quickly replaced his shock. "Gray liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes Juvia! He liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes her so much that he feels her when she's nearby!"

"THAT'S NOT IT!" Gray exploded. "That is not what my Juvia Sensor is for!"

"Juvia's nearby?!" Natsu yelped as he frantically looked around. "Where?! We could have totally used her help when that fire almost destroyed the forest we were supposed to protect."

"You started that fire!" Gray and Lucy barked in unison. "And she's not nearby," Gray added forcefully "that's not how my Juvia Sensor works!"

"How does your Juvia Sensor work?" Wendy asked curiously. "I thought a sensor was there to sense something that's there."

"Well you see," Gray explained in a gentle tone he would never use for anyone else in the guild, "Whenever Juvia is having one of her weird, freaky, utterly insane fantasies or thoughts about me then I just feel this great big shudder down my spine. It's my Juvia Sensor….for all the bat-shit wackiness that spews out of her mouth."

"Interesting," Erza murmured as her eyes gleamed knowingly, "that you are so connected to Juvia that you can have such an insight into her mind when you are miles apart."

"IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!"

"If you say so," Erza said so solemnly it sounded sceptical, "then I believe you."

"It isn't!" Gray insisted.

"Uhuh," Lucy said disbelievingly, "you know Gray there's something people always say about protesting too much."

"It isn't romantic!"

"Gray and Juvia sitting in the tree!" Happy chirped. "K-I-S-S-I-N-G! First comes love, second comes marriage, and third comes a baby in a golden carriage."

"FOR THE LAST TIME IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!" Gray bellowed furiously. "MY JUVIA SENSOR IS TO WARN ME NOT BECA- gah!" Gray shivered again. "Goddamnit Juvia!" Gray muttered to himself. "Stop thinking like that!"

He flushed bright pink when he realised his whole team was still watching him keenly. Erza and Lucy had equally smug knowing looks on their face, Charle looked bored, Wendy was bewildered, Natsu looked creeped out, and Happy looked as if Christmas had come early with extra fish on the side.

"….You know that baby will the ugliest thing ever," Natsu said utterly revolted as he pointed at Gray, "just look at what it's going to have for a father."

Gray didn't have time to feel insulted on the behalf of his unborn and not real children as Erza and Lucy took great offence of his behalf and both simultaneously punched Natsu into a tree.

It provided a great conversation changer as the two girls then proceeded to spend the rest of the journey home yelling at Natsu until their voices were hoarse and everyone forgot why they were yelling at Natsu.

In future though, Gray had learn the valuable lesson of saying he was just cold instead of telling the truth.

Otherwise he would never hear the end of it if Juvia ever caught wind of his Juvia Sensor.

Another shiver rippled down his spine just at the thought of it….
