"Now, a lot of people ask me what I think of Mayor Osborn. But what matters what you think. Let's ask our first caller. You're on with J. Jonah Jameson."
"Hi, I think Mayor Osborn's doing a terrific job. He's cleaned up the city and is doing all he can to clean up after the Glades collapse."
"With all due respect to the mayor, the police cleaned up the city. And entrepreneurs boosted the economy. I do approve of many of the Mayor's initiatives, like cracking down on quality of life crimes and reducing red tape. But I think he takes credit for a lot of things other people do. He's ambitious. Which is not a bad thing...but I always say, be careful of people with agendas. We used to have a vigilant press to keep politicians honest. But it's a shadow of its former self. Now all you've really got...is me. Jameson out!"
After some time, Anya was able to find her way to F.E.A.S.T., and Peter took her to the cafeteria area to start tutoring her. They were about a half hour into it and either she's been getting a quick grasp on it, or Peter's an even better tutor than he thought.
Option 1 was more likely in Peter's eyes.
"So, if a pendulum is forty meters long and attached at a forty-five degree angle, how far will the pendulum fall at its lowest point?" Peter asks Anya.
Anya quickly does some math in her head, writes some of it down, and comes with an answer. "11.72 meters."
"You seem to be getting a handle on this." Peter says before noticing how late it's getting. "Well, it's getting late. You wanna meet back up here tomorrow?" He asks, standing up.
"Yes, sure, thank you." Anya thanks with a smile just as MJ meets up with them.
"Hey, Pete, who's your friend?" MJ asks with a smile.
"MJ, this is Anya, I'm tutoring her." Peter greeted the two of them. "Anya, this is Mary Jane."
"Nice to meet you." Anya says with a hand raised which MJ easily shook back.
"Nice to meet you, too." MJ tells her before turning to Peter. "Hey, I got a message from your...dad...? ...Walter?"
"MJ, you can just say stepdad." Peter promises with a smile.
"Right, anyway, he's got back and said you should get going home." MJ warns him, trying not to go into deep detail about not getting injured or possibly going out as Spider-Man.
"I'll get to it, but I'm gonna go see mom before it's too late." Peter tells the two of them and makes his way out.
"All of that just over one weekend?" Moria asks Peter, shocked by all the news Peter dropped on her.
"I know, half of it seems made up, and the other half seems crazy. I mean, doppelgängers, other people with powers, and now Demons." Peter lists his crazy weekend. "Oh, and I've just begun tutoring the Anya girl who I saved. And she has no idea I did it."
"You're doing great, son." Moria says with a genuine smile, which Peter hasn't seen since she's been locked up. "Have you talked to Thea or Oliver recently?"
"Nah, Oliver hasn't returned any of my calls and Thea doesn't wanna talk to me as long as I talk to you." Peter informs her, wondering what his brothers up to. "Besides, I'm still trying to get a lead on these Demons."
Just as soon as he said that his phone rings and he look to see it's Lance trying contact Spider-Man.
"Seems a hero's work is never done." Moria says and just as her time's up. "Good luck out there, son." She wishes him before leaving Peter alone.
Peter makes his way out of Iron Heights before he pulls out his phone and answers it.
"Detective, never thought you'd use this." Peter admitted.
"I figured it was either this or you keep spooking me on my patrol." Lance replied, his comment dripping with sarcasm.
"What's up?" Peter asks as he heads back to the city.
"So, I've looked into any reports regarding our...Demons." Lance sighed.
"Ha, knew you'd come around!" Peter cheers in victory.
"Anyhow, they seem to be hitting up a lot of properties that were crushed during the quakes." Lance informs him. "There was a bunch of sightings of some 'guys in ghost masks' at one of the shipyards in Northbound."
"All right, sounds like someplace worth checking out." Peter supposes as he begins changing out of his clothes and into his suit. "Any idea what they could be hiding there?"
"No idea, could be drugs, could be weapons, just about anything."
"Okay, I'll meet you there." Peter says as he starts climbing the nearest building in order to start swinging.
"No, I'm not patrolling over there. But I know some guys, love your work, they patrol that area. If there's anyone who knows what's going on in that neighborhood, it's them." Lance promises before hanging up.
"That's ominous." Peter comments before making his way to Northbound.
Once making it to the shipyard, Peter looks shocked to see a bunch of Demons watching over the place with guns all over the place.
"Listen up, Spider-Man already stopped us twice, we can't let him keep doing this." One of them says as Peter leaps in.
"What, you mean like this?" Peter asks and shoots them with a web and whacks two of them into each other. "If you don't wanna be found, might I suggest, you choose a noisier area to do your shady business in? Just saying, it'd save us all some trouble." He states as he began to make quick work of all of them.
"Come on guys, at least try and be original about your surroundings: Shady warehouse, scary men in masks, carrying comically large guns. I mean, could you be any more suspicious?" Peter asks of them as he yanked a gun out of one of their hands and slammed it into the other one coming up to his back.
One Demon aims from behind, but Peter quickly flipped around, balanced himself on one hand while using his other hand to shoot a web which attaches to his mask and Peter finishes it off by spinning and kicking him across the face/mask, sending him dropping to the ground.
Just as he finishes them, he hears a police siren go off and sees two guys come out from each end of a police car as one is a tall firmly built middle-aged black man behind the wheel and the other was an about same age white guy with a bit of a buzzcut on his sides and a bit of blonde on his head, and he seemed a little scrawnier than his partner.
"You know we have a strict rule about vigilantes trespassing and doing illegal searches." The black officer informs Peter.
"Uh..." Peter tries to find something to say just as his partner pulls out a paper.
"Which is why we brought a search warrant." He says with a smile. "So, what do you say we do some legal searching?"
"Meh, not as fun, but I've never done this before." Peter admits as he drops down to them. "So, what's your names?"
"Jefferson Davis." The first officer introduces while shaking Peter's hand.
"Clint Barton." The other introduces with a smile. "And we obviously know who you are."
"Yeah, my son's a fan." Davis tells Peter.
"My daughter loves how you betray the system, or something like that." Clint tells Peter, confusing him by what he means. "She's going through a bit of a rebellious phase. Hope she gets out of it soon, there's only so much rock music our apartment can take."
"Anyway, should we see what's going on here?" Davis asks as they march up to the doors.
"Does that warrant cover breaking down doors?" Peter asks the two.
"Be out guest." Clint says as he steps aside, and Peter goes running and tackles down the door.
"Strong shoulder." Clint compliments. "What I'd give to be that flexible again." He says as the three of them enter the warehouse, as they look around they see a disfigured boat in the middle of the room in an emptied moat and a bunch of shipping crates all around the place.
"Feel like we just walked into a horror movie." Peter comments with a shutter. "Anyone gonna come out with a hook for a hand?"
"Doesn't seem to be anything illegal in plain sight." Davis comments as he activates a flashlight on his shoulder as Clint does the same.
"Yeah, it's a little anticlimactic, huh?" Peter asks them, as he was kinda expecting for something more than...this.
"Let's take a look around." Davis says as he walks over to a container. "This warehouse's been here for a long time. Bootleggers used it back in the day."
"Bootleggers, I love old timey slang." Peter told Clint with a laugh.
"And those guys loved their hidden doors." Clint adds on to what Jefferson is trying to say.
"I'm on it." Peter says. Luckily, his mask was upgraded so that he could find structural weak points.
He quick shot himself up to the ceiling before scanning the room, he quickly found a few, but it seemed these guys were already ahead of him as when he opened the doors, they see some safe's that are opened and emptied in a hurry.
"looks like they left in a hurry. I have a feeling that this was because of you." Clint told Spider-Man. "No offense."
"Oh, I heard that as a compliment." Peter assured him.
"Look at the holes on the walls. They used these to hold money and guns." Davis took notice of as he looked around.
"Guns and money. They're planning something." Clint could tell.
"Yeah, so we might wanna find them fast." Peter guessed.
"They wouldn't wanna stroll all of these out the front door, so there's gotta be a passageway somewhere." Davis says and finds a junction box in the back. "Looks like we need power."
"I've got you covered." Peter promised as he used one of his newly developed taser webs on the box and powers something up as they watch the floor snap up.
"Looks like there's a trap door." Peter told them as he flipped over and then helped the two of them to open up the door and looked to see a set of stairs. "That isn't spooky at all."
"Must be an old bootlegger tunnel." Clint took a guess as they all walked down and see a tunnel that began to shake.
"Must be above the subway." Davis took a guess as they proceeded forward when the tunnel shook again.
"Alright, that diffidently wasn't the subway!" Peter stated to them.
"No. Sounded like explosives!" Davis said.
Then there came voices in the distance of a foreign language that sounded all too familiar to Peter.
"And that sounds like Demons!" Peter said.
"The vault!" Clint yelled. "Come on, let's go!"
The three of them sprinted down the passage to a door that revealed what looked to be some kind of vault, but it was empty!
"Damn! They're gone! How did they beat us here?" Peter questioned, looking around to what was here.
"There's gotta be a back door. See if you can find it." Davis said to the group.
Peter looked left and right until he saw a door. He creaked it open, and to his luck, there were the Demons, and they were loading the gear onto two trucks.
"Shh! Demons!" Peter whispered to them, as they both pulled out their guns. Then they heard the roaring of engines and saw that the trucks were taking off!
"They're moving, get 'em!" Davis yelled.
Peter rushed out and shot web lines at both of the trucks. "Freeze!" "Stop the trucks!" "You're all under arrest!" Davis and Clint yelled to them with their guns aimed.
The backs of both trucks opened, and the Demons used their swords to slice the web lines. One truck kept moving, while the second one stopped, and more Demons flooded out of that truck.
"Take cover!" Peter yelled to Davis and Clint before he engaged the Demons. Jeff got out his gun and started firing at the Demons as well, whilst Clint started shooting the closest ones and the first wave of Demons were defeated.
But soon enough, two cars raced to the area, and more Demons stepped out.
"You're kidding me!" Clint yelled as they engaged these Demons as well.
The remaining Demons got into the truck and took off when one shot at Davis just as Clint tackled him and saved his life.
"Are you alright?!" Peter asked as he ran over to the two cops.
"Go! We'll catch up!" Davis said, looking to see more Demons are coming.
Peter nodded his head in confirmation and went after the second truck.
The Demons noticed that they were being tailed by Spider-Man and seemed to have been prepared for him as they started firing missiles and bullets his way, in which he had to dodge to avoid getting shot. This made the chase a little bit harder to accomplish.
Peter dodged yet another missile and ended up skidding on the side of the building which quickly turned into wall running, which he didn't even know would work.
The Demons then started opening fire using normal guns instead of missiles as he leaped off of the building he was running on and continued swinging after them.
"These guys are staring to make Gotham look like a more peaceful place to live." Peter comments as he finally managed to handle the two Demons in the back of the truck by shooting two webs at light posts and then attacking them to the Demons.
The thug driving the truck started shooting at Peter as he leaped onto the side of the truck, but Peter worked fast and webbed the gun before yanking it out of his hand.
The truck then swerved around the corner and his spider sense started to tingle. He saw a massive water truck up ahead, honking its horn, and was headed right for them!
Before Peter could react, the two trucks collided, causing him to be sent flying and causing the front of the water truck to start skidding as Peter decided to change objectives and tried to stop the truck, but it ended up falling right into the path of the subway tracks. And speaking of the subway, Peter heard the train horn in the distance.
"Great, now the subway decides to run on time!" Peter cried in agony, using every ounce of strength he had to lift the truck. Fear stuck him to the core at the thought if he fails, countless people will possibly die.
Just before the subway arrived, Peter managed to pull it out. He continued to pull it away from the rail when his senses warned him something was coming and looked to see the Demon truck charged straight at him.
'No!' Peter thought to himself as the truck drew closer. But just before it could ram him, a police car came out and rammed the truck away from Spider-Man.
The car flipped upside-down in the process as the driver proved to be Jeff as he fell out of the driver seat and Clint was in the passenger side, and they both crawled out of his car.
"Let's never do that again." Clint groaned in agony.
Davis just chuckles at his partner when they saw Spider-Man continued to pull that truck, but he was oblivious to the Demon thug that hobbled out with his rifle.
Clint on the other hand was fully aware and managed to get up before limping over and sucker-punched the thug in the face, just before the Demon could fire his rifle at Peter.
Peter finally got the truck a safe distance away, he noticed Jeff on the ground, panting with Clint leaning against the parked truck. He went to go and help them to their feet and they both nodded in thanks.
