"Now how often do I say Spider-Man should be letting the police handle the crimes? At least six times a day, and that's on my days off. Well, that's exactly what happened when Officers Jefferson Davis and Clint Barton stopped a truck full of armed criminals from mowing down innocent bystanders. What about Spider-Man, you ask? Where was the city's self-styled champion? He's the one who started this chase right out of an 80's action movie! But it took a real hero to finish it. Thank god our brave officers were on the scene, and that they saved all those lives in spite of Spider-Man. Jameson out."
Queen mansion
Peter had just made his way home and removed his mask after he made it into his room, just finishing the fight with the Demons and meeting Davis and Barton. Sighing in relief, Peter drops down in bed to get some sleep...until he heard someone knocking.
"Peter? You there?" Walter asks through the door.
Peter quickly woke up, his eyes widening to shock and fear as he looked down at his current suit attire and the bruises on his face, not to mention the scorch marks from the truck and skidding on the street.
"Uh...Yeah, Walter, it's me." Peter says, trying to find an excuse to how he got in without Walter noticing, yet again, big house.
He quickly began to try and pry the outfit off of him without ripping it more than it currently is, but it seems to have chosen this the perfect time to become difficult to remove.
"I didn't hear you come in." Walter said, confusion layering in his voice.
"Sorry, I didn't realize you were home." Peter apologizes as he tried to get out of the suit and ended up with his legs hanging onto the wall.
"Can I come in? There's something I think we need to discuss." Walter asked of him.
"No, wait, hold on, just give me a minute." Peter pleaded, not wanting to explain all of this to Walter and tried to quickly get out of the suit, only to hear the door open and just works fast as he quickly hides himself behind the closet door. "No, don't come in!"
Walter came in and searched the room before seeing Peter behind the closet door. "Peter, is everything all right?"
"Uh...yeah, I just spilled some soup on me at F.E.A.S.T. Wanted to change out of it quick." Peter quickly came up with the best lie he could. "I'll be down in a minute."
Walter looks suspicious as to what he's hiding but decides to leave it be. "I just wanted to talk about your mother, your friend said you went to see her."
"Uh, yeah, she seems to be doing fine." Peter supposed. "As well as someone who's in prison for genocide can be I suppose."
"Well, dinner's ready whenever you are." Walter lets it go for now and leaves Peter be and closes the door on his way out.
Peter sighs in relief and drops against the closet door before sliding down onto the ground. "That was too close."
As Peter took his mask and quickly tossed it, he accidently tossed it at his nightstand and ended up sending his family picture crashing, causing the screen to crack. He quickly rushed over to the frame and saw the frame broke. He took a quick glance over the frame, feeling sorrow looking over the family which is now literally and figurately broken.
Once he got out of his suit, Peter made his way downstairs where he heard Walter on the phone with someone.
"Yes, I know, I just don't know how I'm going to explain this to Peter. He's already lost one family, one friend, and I don't want him to keep losing more." Walter told whoever he was speaking to. "I'll talk to him. Okay, thank you." He then hanged up and Peter lets his presence be known as he came down for dinner.
The two of them just sat in silence for a few minutes, no idea what to say to the other about the day's events.
"So, Peter, how was your day?" Walter tries to strike off a conversation.
Peter tries to think of a real good answer, considering that half of the night he was fighting Demons and almost got ran over by a truck. "Well, school's going fine, my teacher asked me to tutor a classmate named Anya, we spent some time at F.E.A.S.T. for most of the day."
"Oh, that's nice." Walter says before going back to silence. "Listen, Peter I just had a talk with you about your mother's upcoming trial."
"What about it?" Peter asks.
"I've been talking with the lawyers, and they don't know right now what her chances of actually getting out." Walter tells Peter, causing him to become filled with dread.
"What are her chances now?" Peter wonders.
"They don't know the real chance, but right now they don't know if she has a real chance of getting out without making some sort of deal." Walter tells Peter, causing him to suddenly loose his appetite.
"Can I be excused?" He asks and Walter excuses him.
Peter went back in his room and wishes he could punch something right now but knows with his strength would end up breaking everything in his room. So, he quickly went over to his computer and activated the Web Base and put on his suit, needing to let this anger out on somebody.
He already lost a relationship with his sister, he can't get into contact with Oliver, and his best friend is still away in Europe last he heard, the only real people in his life as of now is MJ and Walter. And he obviously can't talk to Walter about everything, and MJ is currently asleep.
Peter quickly got dressed back in his Spider-Man suit and immediately leaped out the nearest window and made his way out to be the city's hero.
As he did that, he didn't even realize that he has been doing this all night and was met with the morning radio and they were all talking about him.
"Good morning, Starling City. It is a beautiful day here in the early morning."
"The steady increase sightings of Spider-Man has sparked a national city debate in vigilantism over crime fighting."
"How about that Spider-Man? Just last night, he saved just over a few dozen lives on the Starling train. We wanna hear your thoughts."
In an alley, a small kid was running away from a group of bullies that were about the same age and was chasing him as he ended up getting cornered in an alley.
As the bullies finally caught up, they started tossing the boy around when Peter came dropping in-between the kid and the bullies. The kids took one look at Spider-Man as he took a stand between them, and they took off running in the opposite direction.
"I think without Spider-Man, there would be no hope left for this city. But who do you think pays for all the damages he causes? You and me: Taxpayers!"
Peter looks back to the kid who was being pushed around and notices his science project was a little busted but was more amazed by what it was. This boy that looks to be about eight made a functional portable wind turbine.
"Did you make this?" Peter asks in shock.
"Yeah." The boy replies with a smile.
"This is a wind turbine! You made this?! No way!" Peter says in amazement before fixing the turbine with his webs. "Good as new, right?" He asks while handing it back to him. "Come on, I'll walk you home." He offers and starts walking out of the alley with the kid.
"I don't feel like my kids are safe with him out there. Get out of the way and let the police do their job!"
"What's your name?" Peter asks as the two of them strolled out of the alley.
"Jorge." The boy introduces himself.
"Jorge? Oh, I'm Spider-Man." Peter says casually.
"Some even say that there might even be more than one Spider-Man. What do you think? One guy or many?"
An out of control truck was driving through the streets, ramming everything as Spider-Man came down and picked up a bystander who was in the middle of the street before racing to stop the truck.
"I'd love to know who's behind that mask."
Peter decides he's done enough Spider-Manning and was on his way over to F.E.A.S.T. and leaped onto the roof where he left a bag full of his clothes and quickly got changed before heading inside.
Once inside, he quickly ran into May Parker who was in the kitchen. "Hey, May." He greeted happily.
May returned the smile when she got a look at him and was shocked. "Peter, you look awful."
Peter was very confused when he turned and got a good look at his reflection with help of the reflective surface on the fridge. He looked like he had just clawed out of the ground with being covered in dirt, his eyes looked like raccoon eyes because of his lack of sleep.
"Oh, yeah. I just didn't get much sleep...and then some kids pushed me around from school." Peter quickly lied. "Walter gave me some upsetting news on my mom last night."
"Oh, what's happening?" May asked with concern.
Ever since Peter's been coming to F.E.A.S.T., he's gotten close with May, and she hasn't blamed his mother for the fall of the Glades and believes she's innocent. But before he could explain, they heard a knock and looked to see it was Martin.
"Sorry, I'm not interrupting, am I?" He asks and looks towards Peter. "Oh my, Peter? You okay?"
"Yeah, I'll live. Just problem sleeping mixed in with some quarterbacks." Peter tried to joke about it like it wasn't anything to worry about, knowing they can't know about his activities outside F.E.A.S.T.
"If you say so." Martin leaves it be, before getting to the reason he's here. "I just wanted to let you know I'm going out of town for a few days. You're in charge while I'm gone, May."
"Well, you can count on me." May promises. "How long will you be away?"
"It's...really hard to say." Martin admits while scratching his collar almost in a nervous way, but it could just be the heat.
"Is everything okay?" Peter asks, concerned for his friend.
"Everything's fine. Never better, Peter. But...please take care of this place." Martin asks and caresses the doorway. "It represents the best part of me." He asks before walking off.
"Well, I guess I better get busy." May guesses.
Starling City police department
Officer Lance has come in with Spider-Man's latest catch, which he noticed were coming in more bruised than they usually were. Sometimes they'd have broken jaws, a few times a cracked rib, but they've started looking like they were mauled themselves.
"Officer Lance." Detective Yuri called from her office.
"Davis, mind getting this guy processed?" Lance asks of his fellow officer who took the handcuffed crook and wandered into Yuri's office. "Detective."
"I've been noticing you've been getting a bit of a reputation with some help from a vigilante." Yuri comments.
"Uh, Spider-Man just drops the criminals off with me considering I just happen to be in the area." Lance told her.
"So, you've just constantly be getting lucky? Not like the Spider-Man trusts you?" Yuri asks, not believing what he's saying for a second.
"I...I don't know." Lance shrugged.
"Need I remind you it's because of a vigilante you were demoted?" Yuri asks him sternly.
"Yeah, I tried to save the city and ended up getting demoted in the process." Lance sighed.
"Save it, Lance." Yuri said while tossing a file of the past several months' worth of arrests Spider-Man has done. "I wanna meet him."
"Policy dictates that the vigilante known as Spider-Man is to be arrested on site." Lance reminds her.
"Right. And the whole city rooting for him to keep escaping makes you think I want him behind bars?" Yuri asks. "No, I know you've been doing research on the Demons that have been showing up. I think I found where they're stationed." She stated and dropped a file for an abandoned labs owned by Merlyn. "I want to have a meeting with him myself."
Lance looks and sees she isn't lying and just wants to talk with him, wondering if it's the right decision. "I'll see what I can set up."
"Get on it." Yuri says and allows him to leave.
As soon as Lance left the room, he looked around and pulled out his Spider-Phone and made the call.
F.E.A.S.T.
Peter was in the kitchen, helping out May with the food when his phone went off and he looked to see it was his work phone.
"Sorry, May. I gotta take this." Peter apologizes and excuses himself from the room and went to an empty corner of F.E.A.S.T. to answer. "Officer Lance."
"Hey, good work last night. You made the two hometown boys local heroes." Lance congratulated him.
"Yeah, they did most of the work. They deserve their medals." Peter said as he saw on the morning news that Davis and Clint were getting medals of honor from Mayor Osborn for their bravery.
"Can't argue there. But there's another reason for this call." Lance confesses to him. "The new police detective wants to talk to you about the Demons."
Peter froze at that and doesn't know what to think. "Think she wants me arrested?"
"No, I actually think she's a fan." Lance admits. "She wants to talk to you and directly."
Peter sighs and sees this might be a good chance to get all the police off his back. Or he could demote this woman like he did with Lance.
"I'll text you a location." Peter finally agrees and hangs up.
"Who you talking to?" Someone asks, causing Peter to shriek and turn to see it was Anya. "Whoa, didn't realize you were so jumpy, Pete." She chuckles.
"Sorry, I was focused on something." Peter told her before wondering why she was her, just when it came back to him. "Oh, we were supposed to...Ugh!" He smacked himself for being so forgetful.
"No worries, it looks like you have a lot on your plate." Anya assures him. "How about I make myself useful while I'm here, and you go take care of whatever's troubling you?"
"Thank you." Peter says and makes a prayer gesture before walking down the hall and turned back. "I'll make it up to you, I promise." He told her before running down the halls and out the door.
Later that day, Yuri Watanabe was in an open field, looking around at the clear fields and wonders why she was told to meet him here.
A crunch caused her to quickly turn around and aim her gun at the intruder only to see its Spider-Man. "You greet everyone with a gun raised to their head?"
Yuri calms down and lowers her weapon. "Nice place for a talk." She comments and gestures around her. "Worried I'd set a trap?"
"Worried I'd try to get the drop on you?" Peter asks back as this location was for the two of them.
"So it's a stalemate area. Clever." Yuri supposes. "Listen, I'm one of the few cops who don't seem to care about what you're doing. If anything, you're making my job easier."
"Thanks." Peter guesses.
"And I think you might be our best shot at stopping these Demons." Yuri says and takes out a file and holds it out to him. "This is a tip I got on the Demons moving in on one of Merlyn's old sites. But I can't risk any of my men against those ghost swords. Thinking maybe you can get it cleared out for us?"
Peter took the file and looked it over and it seems like an actual base of operations. "My first base of operations takedown. This should be fun. I'll swing by, let you know what I find."
"How will you do that?" Yuri asks curiously.
"Well, I have my ways, I can just find your number, or you can get my number off of Officer Lance. Don't try to track me with it though. I learned from the Hood's mistakes." Peter stated and began walking off.
"Yeah, we've been getting some theories about you, being related to him." Yuri comments.
"Yeah, no, I'm not related to that psycho." Peter promised and started to head off towards the building.
