Summary: Inspired by an episode of Grace and Frankie. Lucy is determined to present a good face for Natsu first thing in the morning.
Pairings: Natsu/Lucy
YouTube Prompt: Natsu/Lucy video to 'Rewrite the Stars' from The Greatest Showman.
Natsu woke up too early in the morning, Lucy decided in disgruntlement. It was barely dawn as Lucy tried to slip from Natsu's vice-like grip and into the bathroom.
Since their friendship had taken a great romantic turn Lucy had been desperate to look as stunning as possible whenever she was in front of Natsu.
Unfortunately she was not stunning when she first work up in the morning.
Her hair was a disgraceful mess (mostly thanks to Natsu who kept tugging at it last night), her face was pale and colourless with dark shadows under her eyes and horrifyingly a bit of dried drool stuck on her chin, and the less said about her breath the better.
Lucy hurried as quickly and quietly as she could into the bathroom.
With the door firmly locked, she immediately brushed her teeth until her breath smelt minty fresh and her teeth were pearly white. She then yanked her hairbrush hard through the knots in her hair detangling her gold locks into a golden waterfall before she carefully applied the right amount of foundation to give her face a radiant glow, smudge in enough eyeshadow to give her eyes a smoky, alluring, look, and artfully applied lipstick to make her lips look extra plush and kissable.
She then pulled out her pink satin negligée and matching mini dressing gown she stashed in the cupboard under her sink the night before.
Now dressed to perfection and looking utterly gorgeous, Lucy slipped back into the bedroom and perched on the bed as sexily as possible.
It was time perfectly as the sun rose up enough to peek into Lucy's bedroom and shine onto Natsu's face. The bright light and additional warmth caused him to stir in his sleep and groan a little before he peered out beneath his eyelashes.
"Luce?"
"Good morning," Lucy purred out flirtatiously as she preened a little, "did you sleep well?"
Natsu blinked dumbly at her.
"Pfft!" he snorted as he slapped a hand over his eyes. "Lucy, you weirdo!" he grinned "Why are you wearing all that weird crap on your face this early in the morning?"
"I'm not wearing weird stuff!" Lucy snapped indignantly. "This is how I naturally look first thing in the morning."
Natsu outright laughed at that.
A great big whooping laugh that caused Happy to whine as he dragged one of Lucy's stuffed toys over his head.
Lucy crossed her arms and pouted sulkily at that which seemed to only serve to make Natsu laugh even more!
"Lucy," Natsu grinned widely as his eyes twinkled in amusement, "I've seen you first in the morning, remember? Your hair is usually a mess and there's always a bit of drool on your chin."
"Hmmph!"
She had forgotten about the billion times she had woken up to find Natsu curled round her. Well not really but it hadn't sunk into her that it meant he's already seen her in the first morning horribleness.
It really rook out the romance of their early, blossoming, relationship.
Lucy would have sulked about that all day….
….but then Natsu grabbed her head and pulled her down into the sweetest, most spine tingling, kiss yet. "I don't get why you wear that crap," he murmured against her lips, "you're pretty without it."
Lucy beamed in reply before she rewarded her boyfriend with many, many, kisses.
It was a very good morning.
