So instead of studying like the original plan was supposed to be, Peter ended up explaining everything to Anya about his powers, his abilities, where they came from, and more while they eat a pizza.
"So you were bit by a spider at one of Oscorp's laboratories?" Anya asked with a shocked look. "And you didn't think to tell anyone?"
"Well, after I was bitten, I was put into a mini coma for a few days and woke up to my mom giving a speech of the Glades collapsing, the thought of my best friends dying, and I ended up being given abilities." Peter reminded her as he was in the middle of copying everything from the Devils Breath file to send to the cops. "So, what would've happened if I told a scientist about these skills? They'd probably dissect me."
"Yeah, touché." Anya guesses with a shrug. "So, what's going on with these Demons?"
"I don't know. But their leader is apparently going after Devils Breath. Whatever that is." Peter shrugged when Anya's phone went off and saw a report. "What is it?"
"Looks like there's an attack on Charles Standish." Anya answered and Peter quickly recognized the name and went through the file. "He's Oscorp's CFO. You don't think it's related to the Demons, do you?" She wondered and got her answer when she looked and saw Peter was already back in his suit and was just about to jump out the window.
"Sorry to run like this, but..." Peter said apologetically.
"Do...did you just change in the middle of the room? With me here?" Anya questioned shockingly.
"Uh..." Peter tried to find a way around the question and found nothing. "Listen, I gotta go, feel free to stay, but if you leave, tell Walter I called an early night." He asked of her before crawling out the window and leaping off towards the danger.
Peter quickly made it over to the location and found a shootout down near the entrance.
"Yeah, definitely related to Devils Breath." Peter stated and quickly made his way down to the police where he discovered Quinten was already there.
"Officer Lance." Peter greeted him with a cheerful tone.
"Spider-Man, thank God it's you." Lance sighed as he was currently huddled behind a police car. "We got a silent alarm and came here only to be attacked by these Demons."
"I'll clear them and make a path." Peter offered him.
"No, we can handle them, you need to make it up to the penthouse on the top floor." Lance told him.
"You sure about this?" Peter asked.
"They've got guns. But the ones on top have actual fire power." Lance stated. "Go."
Peter looked up top and quickly had an idea as he shot two webs on separate lampposts and pulled them and himself back before getting thrown high up and ended up accidentally crashing through the windows for the top penthouse.
"Okay." Peter groaned as he climbed back on his feet. "That could've gone better."
The Demons all quickly noticed the child dressed in head to toe fabric and quickly began opening fire on the masked hero who dodged the guns and swords with those power energy waves.
"I'm getting seriously annoyed by these waves! Can't I ever have a wave of fans after me!?" Peter questioned as he shot webs at the guns and yanked them out of the Demons hands, smacking the back of their friends' heads.
The others just decide to race at him, and that ended quickly with Peter's skills.
"And with that, I'll remember to thank Stick for this training." Peter said while sipping his hands off from the imaginary dust from his shoulders.
Peter then leaped up to the second story to find a secure office where Charles Standish was being watched over by two Demons, who both aimed their weapons at him, but that was a quick end with two webs in the guns and one at their faces.
"You're good. What were they here for?" Peter asked Charles.
"Spider-Man?" Charles questioned in shock.
"Yeah, it's me. Now as I was asking." Peter said again. "What were they after?"
"Just financial records." Charles answered.
"About Devils Breath?" Peter questioned.
"How do you know about that?" Charles wondered in shock.
"What is it?" Peter asked.
"I don't really know. But Mayor Osborn's been pouring years of research into it." Charles informed him. "But the whole projects a secret except for one man, Doctor Isaac Delaney."
Just as Peter was about to ask more questions, a helicopter with Demons and a rocket launcher came up to the window. "Take cover!"
Charles raced off while Peter started to web the building and shoot the Demons while Charles raced to the elevator shaft.
"Wait! Don't! They-" Peter was about to warn him about the elevators just as the shaft opened and he was shaken up by another rocket and slips down the shaft.
Peter quickly leaped down and dived after Charles, while avoiding the fires and destruction across the shafts. Working it to his advantage, he uses the pieces of debris to yank himself further down and then leaped off the debris to shot two webs onto Charles.
Once that was done, he yanked Charles towards him and just as he did that, he shots a web up the shaft and officially stops their descent.
"Phew!" Peter sighed in relief as he lowered them down safely. "That...that was intense." He stated as they reached down to the ground level.
Just before anything else could happen, the doors were pried open and revealed the S.H.I.E.L.D. squad aiming their weapons at him.
"Seriously?!" Peter asked them in annoyance.
Luckily, after everything, they let Peter go, but it was seriously annoying when they basically took Charles and tossed Peter aside without as much of a thank you for saving his life.
Peter watched as they take Charles away in a S.H.I.E.L.D. black sedan and got a call from Yuri.
"Hey, Yuri." Peter greeted the Detective.
"Heard you were involved in something big. Everything okay?" Yuri asked and if Peter didn't know any better, she sounded concerned.
"Yeah, but I didn't really get much out of Standish when these S.H.I.E.L.D. guys came in and basically tossed me aside after saving the guy's life." Peter said in annoyance.
"I get the sense that they're trying to keep him quiet." Yuri took a wild guess.
"About this whole Devils Breathe thing." Peter stated.
"Whatever the hell that is." Yuri added.
"Yeah, but I might have something." Peter told her. "A name, Doctor Isaac Delaney."
"Who is he?" Yuri asked.
"Someone who might have a lead on Devils Breath." Peter explains to her.
"I'll look into it. But don't be surprised if S.H.I.E.L.D. gets to him first." Yuri warns him.
"Yeah, I know." Peter said as she then hanged up. He then sighed as the night's work weighed down on him. That's when his phone went off again and saw it's an unknown number. "Hello?"
"Peter Queen? It's Rio Morales. Miles' mom." Rio greeted him.
"Oh, hey." Peter greeted cheerfully, as to not sound tired.
"I got your number from May Parker. I just wanted to thank you for your suggestion for Miles to help at the F.E.A.S.T. center."
"Well, when I lost my father and my brother, I was alone. But I had friends to help me through the terrible time. And then when my mom went to prison for Merlyn's doings, F.E.A.S.T. helped me feel like I was doing something worthwhile." Peter said as he sat down on the building.
"You know, I don't think that your mom's guilty or belongs in that prison. I saw the news when she was on it." Rio informed him. "I saw she did what any mother would do to protect her children."
"Thanks...now if we can double your attitude to everyone else, my mom has a shot of getting out." Peter said playfully.
"I should warn you; Miles does have reservations. I gave him a choice of this or more therapy." Rio added.
"Heh, funny, my mom said the same thing to me, but with friends. Either get friends or go through therapy. Suddenly, everyone in school looked a lot easier to talk to." Peter joked. "I'll be sure to be there for him first thing tomorrow. I also invited another kid there, an Ashley Barton."
"Oh, Ashley? Yeah, I've met her s few times. You've definitely got your work cut out for you." Rio said jokingly. "Thanks again. This means a lot for both of us." She then hanged up leaving Peter in silence.
Peter rubbed his head through his mask and is wondering what he's going to do now. "I need to talk with mom."
And that was exactly the first thing he did the next day.
Peter went to visit her the next day in prison and kept his voice as low as possible when discussing the more 'personal' details.
"Boy, sounds like you have a lot on your plate." Moria said with a chuckle at everything she was just told.
"It's not funny. If Walter came in a second too soon, he would've caught me in the suit." Peter said, seriously annoyed. "And now, Anya knows my secret, two kids lost their fathers, and Li is out there with a gang."
"Okay, then you just have to clear your mind." Moria said, not wanting Peter to have a meltdown. "You trust Anya with your secret, right?"
"Well, I don't really have a choice." Peter muttered before clearing his mind. "Yeah...I trust she won't tell anyone."
"And this means she might be able to help you now, right?" Moria asked.
"Well, having someone working for Oscorp to help me might come in handy." Peter supposed, he might be able to find something on the spider that bit him and why they were being developed.
"And this thing with Li? I'm sure you'll work out how to stop him. Try to stop approaching him as Spider-Man and try approaching him as Peter Parker." Moria offers as advise. "You said he actually admired you for not giving up after everything."
"Yeah, the last time we talked as Peter and Li, he basically threatened me to stand down and not interfere with what he's doing." Peter informed her.
"Well...then you're just gonna have to find a way to show him you're not backing down." Moria said with a smile. "And you need to stop him."
"Yeah...I know." Peter said with a sigh.
Peter made his way outside and wonders what exactly he's going to do about everything. He walked out of the prison with his hands in his jacket pockets and knew he should make sure MJ knows about Anya knowing their secret. He then knew there was nothing he could do about anything happening.
S.H.I.E.L.D. is already gotten Isaac Delaney to a safe house, so all he can really do is go to F.E.A.S.T. and hope that Anya and Miles took up on the offer to help out. But there is somewhere he might be able to get information on Devils Breath.
He's going to go to the head of the entire thing: Norman Osborn. This should be fun.
Quickly, he raced off and made it into the nearest alleyway before changing into his Spider-Man outfit before leaping making his way towards Oscorp.
Once in the city, he saw the only city that almost towered Queen Conciliated: Oscorp.
"Wow, feels like forever since the last time I was here." Peter whispered to himself as he landed on the side of a nearby building. "Last time I was here, Harry's mom and mine were talking about dad's death. It feels like a lifetime ago."
Peter then smacked himself, breaking him out of memory lane.
"Focus, Peter. Osborn's going to be out of office for a few more hours. Plenty of time to do some detective work." Peter says as he leaps towards the building and used a web to attach to the building and reach it.
Sneaking up to Osborn's secure office, he sneaks in through the air vents.
"You know, this is surprisingly useful." Peter commented on the air vents he's been using recently to sneak around.
Sneaking through all of the building top floor, he then reached the office and dropped down, quickly webbing the security cameras with taser webs.
Once opening Osborn's computer, he sees its password protected. 'If I were Osborn, what would I use?'
Peter thinks for a moment than looked across Osborn's desk and noticed a picture of the Osborn family. Norman, Emily, and Harry when he was just a kid.
Taking a guess, Peter typed in Emily Osborn and that didn't work. Trying again, he used Harold Osborn, and that worked. Makes sense, Norman always loved his son, even when he had a strange way of showing it. And to his surprise, Norman was already looking at the reports of GR-27.
"Devils Breath." Peter whispered and found that Isaac Delaney is the head scientist, who has an entire sample of the Devils Breath.
Looking at the next slide, he sees AI controlled CRISPER, which are created to fight diseases in the hosts body.
"Why do I have a feeling this is one of those 'created for the right reasons, but in the wrong hands' type thing?" Peter took a wild guess.
He then went to the next slide, and it lists the good things that could come from it. It could cure all genetic diseases anywhere.
Then there was the bad.
One of the rat subjects was exposed to this stuff, and in under a month, thirty of them got sick and died.
"Oh my god." Peter said in shock as to what he's seeing. "So that's why Li is interested in him. Isaac has Devils Breath on him, and that stuff could kill all of Starling City worse than the Glades and Merlyn."
He then felt his senses go off and looked to the doors.
"I don't care about any of this, deny everything!" Peter heard the familiar voice of Norman Osborn he hasn't heard in months. He opened the doors to his office and looked to see the computer screen was off and Peter was nowhere to be seen.
Peter was able to sneak back up to the air vents and make his way outside. Trying to reach MJ he was met with voicemail and saw she sent a text saying she was waiting for him at F.E.A.S.T.
