Oliver was just rescued by the masked woman and made his way down into the cave where Felicity and Diggle are waiting for him.
"Oh, thank god." Felicity sighed in relief.
"Police scanners have been blowing up for an hour." Diggle commented. "Laurel called in half of the force with that silent alarm."
"Yeah, because going after actual bad guys is so last year." Felicity commented.
"To her, I am the bad guy." Oliver stated as he placed his bow on the stand.
"Since when?" Felicity asked.
"Since I didn't make it to Tommy in time." Oliver explained.
"How did you get out of there?" Felicity was curious to know.
"I had help from a masked blonde woman in black." Oliver informed them.
"Another copycat vigilante?" Diggle asked.
"No, she was different, trained. And she used a sonic...thing." Oliver did his best to explain.
"Who was she and why did she help you?" Diggle asked him as the two approached him.
"And how did she know to help you?" Felicity asked.
"All good questions." Oliver said. "We need to find out who she is, I don't need a third of these masked freaks running around."
"I'm sorry, didn't Spider-Man help you?" Felicity asked as she sat back down on her computer.
"Yes, but now there's two of them and the blonde on top of it." Oliver sighed in annoyance. "I need to find out who they are."
Yuri had a lot of thoughts and emotions of tonight. Relief that the Glades hospital was getting its supplies again. And now terror of her current case.
She was in a parking lot, staring at something that shocked her to her core much worse than anything she has ever experienced.
She was currently looking at a woman who was dressed up as a doll and murdered as the officers around her were doing their jobs just as Lance approached.
"Yuri, what is going on here, Huh? This is my beat. Why did Pike wave me off of this?" Lance asked as he walked up to Yuri and was just as shocked as her. "Barton Mathis."
"That's what the MO indicates." Yuri confirmed.
"He's doing consecutive life sentences in Iron Heights." Lance stated.
"Not anymore. He got out during the quake." Yuri stated. "They're trying to keep it on the down low to avoid a panic. Pike's orders are to keep you off the case."
"Of course he did." Lance sighed as he walked a little closer to the human dress up doll.
Yuri sighed and knew the police can't stop someone like this, and he needed to be caught fast.
Not knowing that Lance was having the exact same thoughts in his head.
Peter was currently resting off his recent battle back home, happy to finally have a moment of silence after everything that went down with Scorpion, but it was immediately met with his phone going off.
Sighing, he turned around and saw it wasn't his normal phone, but his phone he left with Yuri.
"Yuri, what's happening?" Peter asked with fake joy.
"I need to meet with you. Now." Yuri demanded and hanged up before he could ask anything else.
"That was ominous." Peter whispered as he lied down for a quick second before getting ready to meet her.
Yuri walked out to the top of the police station with a pack of cigarettes and waiting for Spider-Man to arrive.
"You know smoking is bad for your lungs, right?" Peter commented, causing Yuri to spin around to see him sitting on a part of the next building across from her.
"Lung cancer? I'll worry about it later." Yuri stated and gestured for him to join her.
Peter flipped off and landed on the railing. "So what's up? You sounded distressed on the phone."
"Yeah, you could say that." Yuri confirmed and pulled out a file and handed it to Peter who immediately opened it and was horrified with what he was looking at. "Barton Mathis. The Dollmaker."
"Oh, god. This guy." Peter whispered as he's heard of this guy from his research into satanic criminals when he decided to put on the mask. "Isn't he in prison?"
"Nope, the quake set him free and he's killing people." Yuri informed him. "This city believes you're a hero, Spider-Man, and I know they'll do what they can to stop him. But they're so thin, they can't even let the public know he's out there. We need him brought down fast, before anyone else ends up dead."
Peter looked at the file and doesn't know what to do...except what's right. "You can count on me."
"You're an idiot." MJ commented as she was watching Peter copy everything from Yuri's file the next morning. "Like, you couldn't be more idiotic. You wanna go after a serial killer now."
"Technically, psychotic killer." Peter commented. "According to the file, he had one kill ever three days. Which means we have two days before we have another dead victim."
"Great. Two days." Miles commented. "So, what can we do?"
"We need information. Anything on the victims, Anya?" Peter asked her as she was looking over the file of them.
"Well, they were young, some going from either our age up to young adults." Anya commented as far as she's gotten. "And by the way, after we're done here, I'm getting rid of my doll collection."
"Don't blame you." Miles commented as he saw the photos of the dolls in the file. "Hey, what does your step-dad think we're doing when we're all up here?"
"I told him we're working on a project. Thea went to visit mom. So we don't need to worry about her popping in." Peter answered as he kept looking through his friends and acquaints list. "There's nothing here that'll help us."
"What about his attorney?" MJ asked, deciding to help these lost sheep, and revealed she already got the names. "I mean, even psychos have the right."
Peter thought about it and knew if he was going to be interrogating someone, he needs some sever help. And he knows just the man.
That night, Stick was wandering through the halls and made it to the office of Tony Daniel who represented Barton.
"Tony Daniel, is it?" Stick asked as his eyes wandered around the office.
"Who are you?" Tony asked.
"That doesn't matter." Stick answered. "I know you handled the post-trial appeals of a man called Barton Mathis. I wanna know where he is."
"So you can ask him to be your walker or something?" Tony asked, just as a shadow comes up from behind.
Stick smiled as Tony turned around to spot Spider-Man standing in his office. "Where is he?"
"Iron Heights prison." Tony answered.
"He escaped." Peter stated.
"He what?!" Tony asked. "How?"
"Where would he go?" Peter asked.
"I don't know!" Tony promised just as Stick smacked him with his staff, knocking him out.
"Bring him to the roof." Stick demanded of Peter.
Once they did that, Stick and Peter had Tony tied up with his webbing near the edge of the building as Stick smacked him awake.
"Here's how this is gonna work." Stick stated as he stopped next to Peter. "We're going to ask you some questions. Answer them truthfully, or we will know."
"Where is Barton Mathis?" Peter asked him.
"I don't know." Tony asked as he shook in fear.
"Lie." Stick stated as Peter pushed him off the edge, causing Tony to scream as Peter stopped the web just right at the edge. "Let's try it again."
"Where is he?" Peter asked him and got nothing but whimpers, which was followed by Peter dropping the web.
"No!" Tony cried as Peter shot another web to catch him before he could fall off the building. "Okay! Okay! There-there is a place. He would constantly draw it on his cell walls."
"Where is it?" Stick asked.
"The Bisque Museum." Tony confesses. "Said the building reminds him of Germany. Where porcelain dolls are made."
"Thanks." Stick said as he used his stick to snap Peter's web and sent him screaming and falling into a garbage truck that was parked in the ally.
"What the hell?!" Peter asked Stick.
"Don't worry. He'll live." Stick promised.
From a distance, the Vigilante was watching the entire interaction and was shocked at what he saw at this friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Oliver made it to the location with Lance and when they kicked in the door, they saw Peter was already there. He was sitting on a desk, looking over a few articles to try and find out where to find Dollmaker.
"Hey, wondering when you'd get here." Peter shrugged.
"Spider-Man?" Lance asked just as the phone in the middle of the room went off.
"Well, that's not spooky at all." Peter commented on as Lance picked it up.
"MJ, I need you to trace the call." Peter whispered so no one heard him.
"On it."
"Felicity, I need a trace." Oliver whispered, having the same idea.
They heard over the phone as the Dollmaker already had another victim about to become another doll.
"MJ..."
"Felicity!"
"I'm trying, but somethings wrong, seems someone else's trying to do the same thing."
"Somethings glitching me to another location."
"Barton! Please I'm begging you, please just stop!" Lance cried into the phone.
"It's for the world to enjoy. After all...everyone loves a pretty doll."
They found her body a while later and Peter was back in his base, sulking on how he failed to save a life.
"There was nothing you could've done." MJ tried to consult him.
"How would you know? For all we knew he was in the basement of the same building the call came from." Peter stated.
"Peter, you knew the risks of this job when you put on that mask. You wouldn't be able to save everyone. Remember when you first got these powers? It was either me or Ned...you didn't chose who lived or who died, but you helped who you could."
Peter sighed and whipped his head. "Doesn't make the pain go away."
"Well, then let's stop this man before any more bodies come piling up." MJ stated and helped him up and they walked to Miles and Anya.
"Anything on the forensics for our new victim we can use to find him?" Peter asked.
"CSI did a forensic work-up on it but sent everything they got to a private lab. Which I can't find anywhere!" Anya stated as she tried her best.
"I might know where, but we won't be able to get into there through the front doors." Miles warned them.
"It's a good thing that I have a better way in." Peter said with a smug smile.
Peter made it through the air vents for the forensics and broke open the air vent and lowered himself down on a web.
Working fast, Peter attached a USB into the computer to let his friends do their thing.
"Anya, MJ, you're up." Peter said when his senses went off and he quickly made his way back up into the vents.
"You know, when you do that, you look like Ethan Hunt from the Mission Impossible movies." Miles commented.
He was silent as he watched the door open, and Oliver and Lance enter the room. "Tranq dart. He'll be out for 36 minutes." Oliver informed Lance as he closed the door.
"Yeah, I remember." Lance stated just as Oliver noticed someone was already breaking through the firewall.
"What?" Oliver asked when she noticed the broken vent. "We're not alone."
"What?" Lance then asked as Oliver looked up and saw Spider-Man.
"You wanna come down or you going to stay in the vents?" Oliver asked as Peter saw he was caught and dropped down and revealed himself. "What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you both the same question." Peter stated as he dusted off his suit. "I'm trying to catch a criminal murdering psychopath. Same as you."
"So, you two aren't like I don't know, sidekicks or anything?" Lance asked the two. Peter and Oliver both turned to face him, completely confused as to what he's talking about. "Sorry, a few rumors and theories were going around the prescient to the fact one of you came in after the other vanished."
"Yeah, no. I don't work for him." Peter stated and saw MJ broke through the firewall.
"Okay, I'm in. I got the topology report up." MJ stated.
"Boy, whoever he has they're good." Felicity complimented the new hacker.
Lance looked o the computers that all had what MJ was able to pull up and the same thing was in Peter's mask.
"What is all of this?" Peter asked.
"Chemical ingredients used in all of the makeup, skin cream, nail polish, everything that was on the victim." MJ explained to him as she went for anything unusual.
"Wait, stop, scroll back." Lance asked of Peter as MJ did and he found something. "Ethyl paraben, sodium laureate sulphate. I recognize it."
"Web base?" Peter asked.
"Spiders nest." MJ corrected him before getting to the important stuff, which Felicity was laying down to Oliver. "It's skin cream. Found on her fingers."
"Skin cream. Mermaid something." Lance whispered. "One of the victims from his last run she had it in her purse and I had the lab analyze it. It's the same formula."
Felicity was the first to get to it and pulled it up on the separate screens MJ hadn't already taken over.
Mermaiden Skin Cream
"How the hell can you do that?" Lance asked Peter and Oliver.
"I have a girl in a chair." Peter said as a joke before recognizing it himself. "Uh...MJ?"
"Yeah, that's the same skin cream I use..." MJ whispered in fear. "Yeah, looks like I'm gonna be changing skin cream."
"Two victims with the same taste in skin cream." Oliver commented. "That can't be a coincidence."
"So this is how he chooses victims? Skin cream?" Peter asked in shock and sensed someone was coming so quickly grabbed his USB and crawling back through the vents.
"How the hell does he fit into those?" Lance asks.
