In the city, there was a rundown barber shop where "Spider-Man" was currently looking over the news that Captain Watanabe was stating Spider-Man was now a wanted man.
"I'm betting Spider-Man is feeling very confused right now." He commented as he reached to his ear and tapped something that revealed to be a hologram over a clear white mask the man underneath was wearing.
This was a man simply known as Dmitri Smerdyakov, or as he's known across the world, Chameleon.
Dmitri's phone then went off and he quickly answered MM. "Hello, sir." He then listened to what he had to say. "I held up my end of the bargain, it's not my fault that Black Cat wasn't able to get the ooze. I will find a way to get it myself, we have no need for the Cat."
Chameleon then hanged up and looked to the contacts and tapped one titled QB. "Beck, I'm gonna need your help with something..."
Peter swinging through the city as he was currently on his way across the city, no idea what his next move's going to be. He was now a wanted man, and he had to find some way of clearing his name.
"Okay, so this has to be some sort of copycat just wearing my suit." Peter guessed as he landed on the side of a skyscraper, no idea the goo on his foot was beginning to spread. "But he might also be from another dimension, like those other versions of me." The ooze then started to form over his chest, still going higher and higher. "But all of those doppelgängers were good guys. Why would the one bad one just randomly show up and start robbing banks?" The ooze then finally made its way up to mask and covered his entire suit. "How am I ever going to be able to clear my friendly neighborhood name?"
The costume is black, has a large white spider design on the chest area, slightly larger all white eye pieces, and white organic web-shooters on the back of each hand. The arms of the spider design initially wrapped around the wearer's ribcage, though the placements tend to change location depending on the artist, varying from over the shoulders, over the clavicles or not wrapping around the body at all.
"Well..." A familiar tone called, making Peter look and see as Black Cat dropped down beside him. "That's a good look on you, Spidey. Feel a little flattered." She then approached as Peter got up and got ready to fight. "See? I knew we would look good together."
"You!" Peter cried and got ready for a fight. "You're the thief. " That's when he looked and saw his now black gloves and was confused how this was possible. "You're the reason for all of this...?"
"Why? Because I stole your heart?" Black Cat asked sarcastically. "Heard it before, swinger. Better have better lines to pick up the girls."
"What the heck is this?" Peter asked as he was focusing more on the suit than the girl in a cat suit.
"I've been looking for you." Black Cat continued as Peter dropped down and used a web to look at the reflection, questioning where this all black suit came from. But he's gotta admit, he does rock black pretty well. "I know I don't like being framed for crimes I didn't commit. Or any crimes really." She then joined him while hanging upside down and their lines start to circle one another. "So this whole frameup must upset a guy like you."
"Uh...yeah." Peter admitted to her. "You...you didn't take that ooze, did you?"
"Oh, you know I didn't, short, dark and handsome. You were there." Felicia chuckled and placed a claw under his chin. "Neither of us did. So we're both framed for the crime we didn't commit. But if you're fed up with that superhero thing to match yours truly, maybe we could be bad guys together."
Peter had no idea what to even do now and just dropped off his web and fell.
"What? Was it something I said?" Cat asked, feeling a little hurt.
Peter just shot a web and started to swing off through the city. "Okay, so this is a new one." He commented as he looked over his suit and kept swinging. "So, this ooze is some sort of...I don't even know. Might be something to do with adapting to survive." He then landed in order to look over his new form and had no idea what he's supposed to do. "Doesn't seem to be doing anything harmful, if anything, it's giving me a hand with this whole someone using my face thing...well, using my mask if anything."
That's when a bank alarm went off and he ran off towards the alarm where he saw an army of police that were surrounding the building.
"Spider-Man! Come out with your hands up!" Stacy called out through a megaphone as Peter landed on a rooftop to watch everything.
But as he watched the officers ready to head inside, there were several smoke canisters that were thrown from the windows and quickly followed by Spider-Man running out the door with several bags of cash.
"How can anyone think that's me?" Peter questioned as he watched the second (or is it third?) Spider-Man running off down an alley. "Except for being totally identical, we look nothing alike!" He then dropped down and came behind Spider-Man. He ran down the same alley and saw as the second Spider-Man vanished. "What? What the hell?"
"Hey! Crime spree!" Peter was starting to recognize that voice as Black Cat came down and landed on the fire escape alongside him. "Glad to see I was able to keep up with you."
"Cat." Peter sighed. "That wasn't me!"
"Relax. I watched you chase yourself." Cat commented and gestured to her viewing point and dropped down while using her foot to hold onto the line. "What, didn't I make your Spidey senses tingle? And I don't mean in that way."
Peter then started to keep his face lined up with Felicia as they started to circle one another. "I'm trying to clear my name. Not exactly looking for any other villians or criminals at the moment."
"Well, if you're looking for him, I might know how to find him." Felicia promised as she stopped herself by grabbing Peter's chest.
"I thought you were a thief." Peter stated to Felicia, blushing a little for how close the two currently are.
"Takes one to find one." Felicia stated as she walked up to him and dragged a nail across his chest. "And to be clear I'm whatever you want me to be. For the right price, but for you, I'll do it on the house, handsome." She then retracted her line, shooting herself up and Peter ends up shooting a web and chasing after her.
"Where are you going?" Peter asked as he realized he's somehow been getting faster due to his new suit.
Felicia ignored him and shot a grapple to swing herself towards the docks where the two of them landed right out of the skirts of. There was a yacht that was boarding a bunch of people on board.
"What's happening?" Peter asked.
"Sebastian Blood is having a fundraiser on his yacht. Rich people." Felicia shrugged. "If I were a criminal, this is the perfect place to get rich quick."
"Good spot. A lot of publicity and a lot of pockets." Peter had to admit she was right. "What's the plan, thief?"
Felicia smiled and dropped off the building and Peter quickly followed after her and landed on the docks and she lead him to a jet ski on the docks.
"This yours?" Peter asked.
"More or less." Felicia added as she hopped on board and waited for Peter.
Peter saw he didn't have much of a choice to sneak on board without her help and decided to follow her on. With the yacht heading off, Peter sighed and got onto the back of the ski with Felicia.
"Hold on tight." Felicia tells Peter, who grabbed onto her waist earning a scoff from Felicia. "What, that the best you could do?"
"Just go." Peter tells her, not wanting to do this but seeing this is the only way to clear his name as Felicia then drove off and headed towards the yacht.
"Gotta admit, this is a sweet ride." Peter commented.
"Haven't you heard? Crime pays." Felicia stated with a grin.
Peter then immediately grabbed onto his ears and started yodeling to make noise. "I can't hear you! La-la-la! I'm not listening!"
She then took a quick turn, making Peter grab onto her waist. "Hold on tight. Almost there."
"Don't worry, I don't slip." Peter assured her.
Felicia then turned over and looked back with a smirky smile. "Not why I said that."
Peter then became uncomfortable and blushed a little under the mask. "Uh...we're close enough." He then leaped onto the side of the yacht and started to crawl into the place, leaving Felicia behind.
"Hm. My kitty senses are purring." Felicia muttered with a wild grin.
Peter made it on board where he immediately saw that the guards were knocked unconscious by some gas canister. "Looks like the Cat was right all along."
In the main hall, it turns out Oliver was helping with the fund raising and was also on board with Blood, Yuri, and...J. Jonah Jameson.
"And I'm happy to see so much support being brought to help save this city." Blood tells the room. "And I know this city will thank you, too."
Suddenly the lights turned off, followed by a laugh from the wall as Spider-Man is revealed to be hanging onto the glass window. Nobody knowing it's just an illusion being done with gloves designed to stick to surfaces. Then the lights came back on and revealed Spider-Man in his red and blue suit.
"As will your friendly neighborhood Spider-Thief." Spider-Man told them.
"HA!" Jameson cheered as he pointed towards Spider-Man. "I knew it!"
The imposter then shot out two bags that were designed to look like they were made by webs. "Fill 'em up, folks."
"Take him!" Yuri called out to the other officers, not knowing they were currently incapacitated.
And before she could do anything, Spider-Man shot out some weapon to act as his webbing and wrapped itself around Yuri like a Bola and trapped her. Yuri then got a good look and started to notice this guy was too tall to be the Spider-Man she got to knew and knew he was probably on his way over.
Hopefully.
After everyone gave up their valuables, Spider-Man was going to grab the bags when Peter came in and shot real webbing to cover his hands.
"Shows over, imposter!" Peter cried, doing a quick flip and the two end up mirroring the move.
"And who are you supposed to be?" Spider-Man asked him as he left the bags and strolled closer to Peter.
"I'm the real friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." Peter declared as he got up, showing off his black and white suit and pointed to the villian. "You're just an imposter."
"You? Please, you don't even have the costume right." Spider-Man scoffed and then pointed towards the hero. "You are obviously the imposter."
"There can't be two Spider-Man's." Yuri said with a smile. Obviously she means one of the same voice, knowing of the other Spider-Kid.
"Just take them both in!" Jameson stated.
"Then let's see if you have the Spider Strength to match!" Peter stated as he leaped and kicked the imposter back and flying into the tables as the guests take off running.
"And I can't wait to see you print a retraction." Peter said as he looked to Jameson.
"Retraction?" Jameson asked. "Listen here, Web-Head, nobody tells-"
"See?" Peter interrupted his rant. "Even the jolly mean Jameson knows I'm the real deal?"
Spider-Man then shot another bola weapon, but Peter easily tore through it using his new strength and kicked Chameleon through the glass. But that allowed the criminal the chance to grab the bags and make a run for it.
Peter chased after him through the ship when another man released some spherical devices that shot Peter, but when they hit, his suit was cut and immediately repaired itself.
"Okay...strange." Peter commented, feeling there's something up with this new suit.
Spider-Man then used a watch that called over a boat of his own and hopped on board. Peter immediately forgot about his suit and saw a few people coming for him when Black Cat came down and banged their heads together.
"He's all yours, handsome." Felicia said with a flirty smile.
Peter ignored that comment and shrugged. "Thanks, Cat. I owe you one." He then leaped and attached a web to the back of the Chameleon's boat and went after him.
"At least." Felicia whispered with a grin.
Peter just started to ski against the water and felt the suit was balancing Peter against the water. Now he just pulled back on the web and got ahead of the boat and tackled the fake Spider-Man who revealed to have gloves for strength.
"How about a taste of Spider-Punch?!" Chameleon asked as he went to swing at Peter who dodged and jumped on the controls.
"Please tell me I don't sound like that." Peter pleaded, wondering if that is actually what he sounds like.
"At lease I offer a higher quality of quips." Chameleon stated as he went to swing again when somehow Peter saw it coming beforehand, faster than his Spider-Sense could pick up and flipped back on the hood of the vehicle to dodge before webbing his hands to the controls.
Peter then punched him in the face, shattering the hologram and revealing the Chameleon to the world. "There is only one true Spider-Man."
With Chameleon and his friends captured, Yuri smiled as she tossed them into the SWAT vehicle and Peter was overseeing it to make sure it went smoothly. And in the background, Jameson was calling about a retraction.
"Great to see I was right about you, Spidey." Yuri said with a smile to Peter. "Also, like the black suit."
"Yeah, needed a small change after he stole my face." Peter shrugged, thinking of keeping this thing. That's when he then noticed the time and knew he needed to get home before Walter questioned where he is. "Oh, god, I gotta get going. See ya later!" He then took off swinging as Oliver watched everything.
Peter went swinging and made his way home when he took a quick detour and saw Black Cat was sitting on the edge of a building again. He landed and hung upside down to be level-headed with Felicia.
"You know, we make a pretty good team. Ever thought of switching sides?" Peter asked when Felicia turned to face him without even turning her head, feeling he should know the answer. "Right. A cat for hire." He mentally smacked himself for forgetting but also wondered something. "So...why did you help me?"
"You really don't know?" Felicia asked as she came closer and lowered his mask, scaring Peter when she ended up kissing him while hanging upside down.
She then broke off and Peter had to shake it off and rapidly blink as that was never how he thought his first kiss would be like.
"Wow, Cat. That..." Peter was saying when he looked around and noticed that there was no sign of her anywhere. "Uh...Cat? Here, kitty, kitty? Well, that happened."
Peter then took off swinging and made his way back home, not knowing there was more to this ooze than meets the eye.
