Peter marched up to his room and was thinking of why he was suddenly so angry with Oliver. It was shocking to him, as he didn't understand why he acted like that.
"You doing okay?" MJ asked.
Peter honestly had no answer for that and looked to her in confusion. "I don't know." He stuttered as he gestured to the steps. "I-I don't know where that came from. But I honestly did want to say that." He then laid down on the ground next to his need, no idea what's wrong with him lately. "I didn't know I could lose my temper like that. I don't know what's wrong with me."
"I think you've been under a lot of stress lately and you're trying to carry the weight of the world again." MJ stated as she walked over and sat down next to him.
"I'm sorry I blew up like that." Peter apologized to her.
"I think that apology should be saved for your brother." MJ redirected him. "But I can't say that he didn't deserve it."
Peter looked over to her with a very confused look now. "You're sending mixed messages."
"I know." MJ said with a smirky smile. "It helps me keep you on your toes." She then smelled something and leaned closer to Peter. "You might wanna take a shower, you smell like the ocean."
But then that's when their phones went off and saw that someone had spotted someone fitting Mysterio's description.
At Oscorp, Norman was talking about his son's condition and were trying to find some way to cure him with help from his scientist Otto Octavius.
"Mr. Osborn, we might not be fully comprehending exactly what this is." Otto said, concerning using this untested creature on Harry over this long period of time. "This could have lasting side effects that we have yet to see. We need to abort."
"My son is healing." Osborn rejected his idea to abort the process. "Dr. Conner believes when he finishes his formula, Harry will be able to leave the tube in a year."
Before the conversation could go any further, the air started to be filled with green gas as they then looked and saw Mysterio somehow entered the building.
Saying some word that they couldn't understand that put the two in a trance. "I summon the dark forces!" He then turned to a giant container. "Show me your plan for this world!"
That somehow caused an explosion that leveled the roof and blew it sky high. Some of the guards came rushing to see what happened when Mysterio created dragon looking creatures using his smoke and sicked them on the guards that started to shoot but could never harm.
"Fools!" Mysterio claimed at them. "Your technology cannot harm the serpents of Alivhen."
Peter and Miles quickly made it and landed inside the facility where they saw everything that was happening.
"You know, this is getting ridiculous, Fishbowl head." Peter informed him.
"So, what did we miss?" Miles asked. "Looks like we missed most of the show."
"Not to worry, I saved the best for last just for you two." Mysterio promised as he then flipped his cape, creating an army of demon faced bat people.
"Those can't be real, right?" Miles asked as he and Peter dodged a few of them when one came up and scratched their suits.
"They definitely feel real!" Peter exclaimed as he kicked one, causing it to hit something and turn to smoke. "This can't really be happening."
"Well, we need to think of something." Miles stated as he punched one, noticing that his fingers are sparking. "What's up with that?"
"We need to keep Mysterio back from whatever tech he's after!" Peter exclaimed as he tossed a chair at the beasts.
But when they looked back, they saw Mysterio already started his spell and begins to be succumbed by smoke. Peter then watched as one of the creatures Miles shocked with his fingers smacked into the wall but didn't disappear but begin to spark.
"What?" Peter asked as he picked up the creature and started to see behind the curtain. "Well, well, well, looks like Mysterio isn't the technophobe he's claiming to be."
Mysterio then started to disappear as Peter and Miles went in to try and attack them when it vanished before they could catch him.
"Damn." Miles sighed.
The next day, Peter and the others made it back to the courthouse and were thinking about what to do with Mysterio.
"I mean, every time we got close to the guy, he would say some random words and then take whatever he wants." Miles stated.
"It's almost like this guy's showing off." Peter commented and looked to MJ. "Anything on that creature?"
"Well, you were right." MJ said as she looked over her phone. "The thing was basically a drone with a hologram projection over it."
"Okay, what about where they came from?" Miles wondered.
"We are tracking the signal of who's controlling them, maybe learn where Mysterio's base is." Anya promised them as they made it into the halls.
Once they made it there, they saw Thea and Oliver were already outside the room with their mom in it.
"Hey, Oliver, can we talk?" Peter asked of him.
"Sure." Oliver supposed and the two walked away from the others. "What's up?"
"I wanna say, I'm sorry for the other night." Peter started off apologizing. "I-"
"You don't have anything apologize for." Oliver assured him. "You were under a lot of stress yesterday and some old wounds were brought up. It wasn't easy, and you were right about me." Peter was getting interested as it seemed now Oliver was gonna apologize. "I haven't been the best brother since I've been back. Either of the times."
"Yeah, you kinda suck at it." Peter mocked jokingly.
"My point being...I've been backing away as I saw you were growing up." Oliver explained and looked to his friends. "When you were a kid, you couldn't get along with others, and now look at how many friends you have."
Peter had to admit, it was only because Oliver was gone and presumed dead that he was able to become friends with Harry, Ned, and MJ. And even though Harry and Ned are gone, one abroad and the other...we've already established what happened to.
And the only reason he became friends with Miles and Anya was because of him being gone. Maybe there was a reason for it all.
"Thanks." Peter supposed.
Oliver smiled and ruffed his hair up. "Come on."
But then they started to hear some loud complaining coming from the room and made it inside to see what's happening.
"Hey, what's going on?" Oliver asked.
"Mom's going to testify now." Thea answered for them and getting a confused look from the others.
"Wait, why?" Peter asked, looking at his mom's face and started to put it together. "Because of me."
"No, no it's not because of you." Moria assured Peter. "But...there's something you need to know, because laurel does." She didn't dare mention the fact Anya already knows this fact, due to how deep it goes.
"What? What are you talking about?" Oliver asked.
Moria looked down and saw it was time they knew. "Years ago...your father was engaging in his...extramarital activities...and I had a moment of weakness. I cheated on him...with Malcom Merlyn."
That shocked them as Thea seemed to bring up a old wound from last year, regarding when she talked about her and Merlyn.
"It wasn't an affair, it was brief, and very long ago." Moria assured her.
Thea didn't seem to believe that and stormed out, followed by Oliver running after her, leaving Peter alone with her.
"Wow. Our lives are becoming a soap opera." Peter muttered.
Moria chuckled at hearing that and saw Oliver seemed to understand, and Peter was still here. If only he knew the whole truth...he'd never look at her the same way again.
"You're still here." Moria commented, wondering why.
"Mom, like I said. This family is a soap opera, who has a child that was ambushed with spider powers." Peter rolled his eyes. "I'm getting used to bombshells being dropped."
Moria chuckled at that and had to admit it's true. "True, I suppose."
They then heard a knock and Anya came in with her phone raised. "Uh...we've got a problem. Mysterious back."
"Mysterio?" Moria asked, the two never having a moment to talk about him.
"Yeah, the villain of the week. I'll tell you more when I kick his ass." Peter promised as he got up and passed Anya who looked to Moria, the two of them having the exact same thought racing through their heads.
Don't tell Peter.
Anya nodded in their unspoken promise and walked off to meet the others to try and take down Mysterio.
Making it to the hideout, Peter and Miles weren't surprised when it wasn't some secret sorcerer hideout but really it was a prop house.
"Should have known." Peter stated with a smile. "Mysterio's nothing but smoke and mirrors."
"But where's the man behind it all?" Miles asked when they heard Mysterio shout something, followed by lighting being blasted from a machine on the ceiling.
"Oh, will you knock it off with the Latin?" Peter asked as he dodged the lightning bolts. "We know it's a trick."
"Is it a good act?" Mysterio asked as they saw him come down on a hovering platform that released smoke to hide it. "And the Latin adds the small, needed touch." A tentacle came from the smoke, revealing what he stole from the Oscorp laboratories and wrapped around them. "For example..." saying something else in Latin, a giant fan was started and the two started to fight back against the tentacles. "That means-"
"You're in for a world of hurt." Peter translated and even promised at the same time as he and Miles fought off and tossed the board controlling the tentacles into the fan as Mysterio escaped it.
When they landed on the ground, the fog created illusions around the two of them as they tried to learn what to ignore and which to fight.
"How do we fight something we don't even know is real?" Miles asked Peter as they stood back-to-back to each other.
Peter then remembered what Stick taught him and started to come up with a plan by creating a blindfold out of webbing and placed it on himself. "By ignoring everything."
"What?" Miles asked, not following.
"Let your senses guide you." Peter explained as Miles just copied as he did and the two allowed their senses to take over. "Come on Peter-tingle..."
The two then raced through the facility as drones with animals projected onto them charged at the two of them. Peter leaped off the wall and leaped as he punched straight through one of the drones, followed by Miles webbing two of them and slamming them both together.
Peter did a spin and crushed another before leaping off one of them and kicking one using the ceiling as momentum. Landing on the roof, Miles leaped and crushed two of them and ripped their weapons out to then smash into another of them.
The two then used the drones as a shield to make it through the facility and took the others down with ease as they kept going. Mysterio tried to use this as an opportunity to escape, both of them being blinded, but that ended with Peter coming in and punching straight through his helmet, and Miles webbing him to the wall.
"You wanna see another magic trick, man?" Peter asked Miles.
"Sure." Miles supposed.
"I'm gonna make his world disappear!" Peter promised as he punched Mysterio's true face and knocked him out. Taking out the mask and gloves, Peter saw the controls and audio controls he had in the suit. "Wow. This dude would kill in Hollywood."
They then got a text and saw they needed to get back to the court as the jury might be coming to a verdict.
"We gotta go." Peter stated as he and Miles left a text to Yuri to arrest Mysterio and get the tech back where they belong.
Peter raced back to the court as quick as he could, not worried about his hair or his injuries being shown after finally taking down Mysterio and found MJ and Anya was waiting for them.
"Hey." Peter greeted them. But then took notice of their faces. "Uh...what?"
"Have you seen yourself?" MJ asked and quickly pulled her phone out and showed him his face using the reflective surface.
Peter didn't notice it, but he had a black eye, bruises, and even a cut on his cheek. "Oh, god. I'm not gonna be able to hide that."
"Peter!" Thea called from across the balcony and saw his face. "Where'd you go?"
"Had to fix something for this magician. Had more bite than I expected." Peter quickly lied as he saw Oliver coming in just as the jury came with a verdict.
"I have received a note that the jury has arrived at a verdict." The judge said as he looked over the note as everyone raised. "Please publish the verdict."
Everyone was on eggshells as they waited for the announcement to be heard. "In the superior court of Star County Stave versus Moria Queen verdict. On one count of conspiracy in the first degree' the defendant is found...not guilty."
The room was shocked to hear that, even though that's what they wanted to hear.
"On the count of 503 accounts of murder in the first degree, the defendant is found...not guilty." She continued on for a moment, surprising everyone even more as they see Moria is free to go.
Walking over to them, Moira embraced her family with Walter there smiling at seeing the family is back together.
"I love you all so much." Moria tells her children.
Later on, Moria was on her way out of the courthouse and made it to the limo. Once outside, she rolled down the window in order to feel the warm air blowing on her face. The city might not have forgiven her, but she was at least a free woman who could watch her children grow.
Looking out, she didn't recognize the rout they were currently taking home. "The freeway will be quicker."
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Queen, I've been instructed to not take you home just yet." Her driver explained as she then ended up in a empty parking lot.
The driver then got out and opened the door, confusing Moria as she got out, almost thinking Peter's planning to do something spectacular.
"I don't understand." Moria stated, waiting for something to happen.
"I got her, sir." He informs someone behind Moria, making her thing this is indeed something to do with Peter.
But then that theory got debunked when her driver was then shot by an arrow, immediately killing him as she turned sprung to see who killed him and was shocked when she saw it was Malcom Merlyn.
"You weren't..." Moria didn't know what to say, due to the fact this man should be dead.
"Hello, Moria." Malcom greeted her.
"They said you were dead." Moria stated, no idea how this could or should be possible.
"There see parts of the world where death is an illusion." Malcom said, the illusion thing being an ironic coincidence.
Or something more?
"I've been to one." Malcom explained. "I learned to be very convincing. But I returned because you needed my help."
Moria then started to come up with the pieces for herself. "You..."
"You didn't think that jury acquitted you without a little persuasion, did you?" Malcom asked.
"Dear god." Moria sighed as she looked like she was about to be sick. "What do you want?"
"I still have resources in Starling." Malcom said as he started to approach Moria. "Associates. And I started to look into this new Spider-Man. Especially after the defeat of the Demons, something I could never fully accomplish. And I was especially interested in Peter's friend, Anya."
Moria started to understand what he figured out and started to become afraid.
"She discovered something in the matter of days that I was deceived by over years." Malcom stated as Moria was becoming very afraid of what he might know.
"No. No." Moria pleased him to stop.
"It was then just a simple matter of tracing Spider-Man to your home, a little search into my own security to learn what happened to him, and then a simple surreptitious genetics test to confirm my suspicions." Malcom stated as he marched face to face with Moria. "Imagine my joy when I learned that Peter is my son."
BATTLEWORLD:
"You guys catch up, we're going to get ready to head off to the next reality." Peter-616 tells them.
"I still know it's right at the tip of my tongue." Peter-1 says.
"You still going on about the Queen kid thing?" Frost asks.
"Wait, I got it!" Peter-1 finally remembers. "He looks like Malcom Merlyn!" As he finished the sentence, the carrier shrinks and goes straight into the Quantum Realm.
"I kinda see the resemblance, and if that's true, that kid has a rough life ahead of him." Peter-38 tells Peter-1, after he remembers who their recent younger doppelgänger looked like from Earth-173.
