Here it is.
Late and a bit short again but with exams, a huge hurricane coming through my city, changing the apartments and learning of new timetable at my university I think I can be excused for this one.
Reviews:
Facundo Martinez - Es bueno saber que no fui el único. Hago que sea menos vergonzoso. (Perdón por la mala gramática, no hablo español y usé un traductor de Google).
Deku Momiya - And now my shitty first fic has team January as well! High Five!
Gamelover41592 - Thanks as always. :)
ImaDeadMeme6 - It might. It might indeed.
X3runner - I did wrote that Whitley line on purpose (I originally thought about writing "I have no idea how you all would have survived without me here.") but my intention was to show that despite that one 'bonding' moment Whitley still valued Jaune more than Ren. Your interpretation is good thoough.
The team of shamans they were following had finally entered the village and Sharona couldn't help but smile. That small group of four teenagers wasn't the first shaman team they met since the second round began, they weren't even the second or third for that matter, but there was something about those four that made them stand out compared to other shamans they had seen.
They had a goal they were walking towards.
At first she didn't notice that as the fact that those four were constantly traveling in the same direction could have been explained by a village nearby where they could find any clue on the Tribes Village but after some espionage with the help of her Over Soul she easily learned that it wasn't the case.
She didn't know what that goal was yet but she was aware that they kept traveling north. It wasn't much but it was enough for her to try to acquire the information about what place worthy of their attention was north of there.
Sadly her attempts at learning what the goal of those four teenagers was didn't bring her any results. On top of that she was pretty sure that either she or one of her colleagues somehow alerted one of the people they were tailing.
"Watch out." She whispered while quickly dragging the youngest of her colleagues Millie behind the tree to avoid being seen by the blond shaman who kept looking around as if to search for something.
Millie almost let out a loud surprised yelp that would alert the people they were following but thankfully her other companion Sally managed to cover Millie's mouth in time.
"Do we really have to sneak around like that boss?" The tomboy of their group, Ellie complained with a whine before adding while pointing at the four shamans who were entering the village. "We have the number advantage here. Besides, one of them doesn't even seem to be a shaman."
That was a fair argument but she had already learned that against a way more powerful shaman a higher number of opponents didn't mean that much.
"We had a number advantage the first time we tried to get some information from other shamans and I don't think I have to remind you how that ended." She answered.
Her reminder made all of her companions shiver. The fight against the young green haired boy and the team of huntresses in training wasn't a moment they liked to remember.
The end of it was especially painful. Even now whenever they were about to fight against anyone they always made sure that there wouldn't be any serious looking shamans wearing white suits passing by them during the battle.
One could only live after witnessing a giant metal angel flying at them with a sword of pure spiritual energy once before being scared of everyone related to the person capable of summing that for the rest of their life.
"T-That was just a single incident, right?" Ellie stuttered while frantically looking left and right in fear that a person wearing a white suit might be walking nearby.
A sigh escaped her as she saw how scared her friends looked right now.
"Maybe it was or maybe it wasn't." She said with a shake of her head. "Either way, I don't want to risk facing another ridiculously strong shaman if we can accomplish what we want without having to fight at all."
"Y-Yeah! You said it boss!" Millie said, trying to sound cheerful. "It's not like we are afraid of any random shaman walking by, right? That would be silly."
In response she merely nodded. She didn't want to tell them that to not damage their already low morale but she was honestly a little bit concerned about fighting against those four shamans.
Millie and the rest of her team might not have noticed since they weren't coming as close to that group during their attempts at eavesdropping as she was but there was a high possibility that this group was related to the one they fought during the first day of the second round. With one of the spirits looking like an older version of one of the young huntresses they fought against there was really only one assumption she could make.
She shuddered a little as she thought of that. They could barely handle fighting against a group with only one enemy shaman present so what chance would they have against three or four?
With a shake of her head she dismissed these thoughts. It didn't matter how powerful these four were, they weren't going to fight against them anyway.
All they needed to do was to stalk them for a while and learn what they wanted to. And if that didn't work, there was nothing stopping her from using her Over Soul to trick them into telling her the info.
"The target has entered the village and is seemingly going straight towards the tavern to either eat or sleep." Lilly, their navigator, reported while looking through her spiritually enhanced glasses. "Are we following them boss?"
"Yes, we are." She nodded. "Let's book a room or two in the same tavern as they did. Not only will it help us spy on them easier but we will be able to finally sleep in decent beds as well."
A rather enthusiastic cheers resounded through the forest right next to the village as all of her teammates were beyond happy to finally be able to sleep on something other than a bunch of sticks and leaves.
It looked like she was going to be the only one who would be trying to learn anything throughout the night this time.
...
Around an hour later...
...
The tavern they decided to spend the night in was surprisingly empty. Aside from them and a couple of drunk men who were barely awake at the bar, Jaune didn't see anybody else.
There was also the tavern owner of course but that was a given. When it came to guests though, he and his friends appeared to be the only ones who were going to be spending a night in the tavern as the company at the bar probably didn't have the money left to stay the night here.
Such a small number of people almost made him feel awkward from the fact that Whitley, by renting one room for every one of them, bought almost half of all the available rooms in the entire tavern.
Thankfully it didn't seem to be a big issue as the tavern owner ensured them that there were rarely any visitors renting rooms in this village in the first place anyway.
"Here are your keys, kid." The elderly man from behind the bar said as he casually threw the keys towards him. "Remember to bring them back to me before you leave the village, I wouldn't want to go on a journey through the entire Mistral just because you forgot to return them to me."
With almost instinctual movement Jaune easily caught the keys before smiling lightly and saying. "Don't worry, I'm not a person who enjoys stealing. There won't be anything broken or missing from the rooms after we leave."
Or at least there wouldn't be anything wrong because of them as he couldn't be responsible for the shamans that he was sure were following them. If a fight between them and these people were to break out then he was pretty sure he could be excused for some damage done to the building while trying to defend himself.
Though, for some reason he hadn't seen any usual signs of being followed for the last few hours. Could it be that the shamans who were tailing them decided to give up after they entered the village?
It certainly was a possibility.
"Where are you kids traveling to, anyway?" The tavern owner asked him with a hearty smile and a curious look in his eyes. The old man even leaned forward a little to be able to hear more clearly.
Unfortunately for the old tavern owner Jaune was the only one left of his group who didn't go to his room yet as he chose to stay behind in case the shamans that were following them were to either reveal themselves or try to sneak attack them.
If Nora was still down here and didn't go upstairs to check their rooms then he was sure that the elderly man would have heard a detailed and exaggerated story about how they were going towards Argus after saving a kind old lady in need. He however was way too tired and sleepy to share a story with someone whom he barely knew in the first place.
"It's a long story and you probably wouldn't believe me if I told it to you anyway." He said dismissively to the disappointment of the tavern owner. "Let's just say that my friends and I are traveling north for recreation purposes."
It should have been enough for the elder man to be satisfied and it wasn't like he was lying by saying that the tavern owner probably wouldn't believe him at any rate. Most people didn't believe in ghosts let alone trying to comprehend a secret tournament between people capable of controlling spirits with the prize being becoming the next god.
Although, even if he was aware of that fact, seeing the clear disappointment in the eyes of the kind old man who didn't mind renting them half of all his available rooms for a night still made him flinch a little.
"Maybe I will tell you more details tomorrow morning, alright?" He said, trying to cheer up the tavern owner a little before awkwardly going towards the stairs. "But for now I will go to meet with my friends in our rooms. Goodnight!"
The young Arc was so focused on trying to not be too rude in his goodbyes that he didn't even notice a subtle scoff that appeared on the elderly man's face right after he turned around.
Not too long after that happened and when Jaune was just about to start climbing the stairs, the tavern owner suddenly dispersed into a thick spiritual mist that slowly spread throughout the entire tavern.
Jaune yawned groggily before shivering a little as the temperature around him became a tad bit more noticeable.
"I really must be tired if I didn't feel that cold earlier." He murmured to himself while rubbing his arms to keep at least some of the warmth inside him. It didn't help that the air around him became very humid for some reason.
Maybe it was because he was so close to the stairs that connected the higher floor to the lower one?
Things like these happened when two highly different temperatures were mixing in one place, right? His school knowledge wasn't the greatest since he technically ran away from home before even finishing the second grade.
Learning from the spirits he met along the travels taught him a lot of practical knowledge and how to survive in the world but he rarely got to learn the topics taught at schools.
He quickly shook his head to gather his thoughts together. In the time he was getting distracted and thinking of his education he already climbed to the top of the stairs arriving on the floor all of his friends were currently resting at.
To his surprise the floor was remarkably silent. He half expected to hear a loud fight between Whitley and Ren taking place or at least Nora running around when he got here but it was almost eerily quiet.
Apparently all of his friends were too tired from the journey to be active at this hour.
Jaune sniffled slightly with emotion as he realized something.
If all of his friends were quiet and asleep then he would have a single peaceful night for a rest! After traveling together with all of his friends since the second round started he quickly learned the value of being able to calmly sleep through the night.
Lately he felt that whenever the night was about to start all of his friends would suddenly forget that they needed to rest and would continue with their squabbles and other loud activities through the night. While it might have been endearing to watch Whitley argue with Nora about the importance of pancakes in the human diet for three hours, it wasn't that healthy to hear the Over Souls of his friends being activated in the middle of the night when you were trying to sleep.
Thankfully it looked like he would be able to sleep through the entire night peacefully this time!
"Hey there team leader!" A familiar voice of a certain energetic red haired girl shattered his hopes for a calm night in a single second. "Walking around without your guardian ghost, I see. Did you get any info about Tribes Village down there?"
With a single tired sigh he slowly turned around to see Nora standing on top of the stairs he just came from with a confident smirk on her face that looked weirdly out of place on her for some reason.
"For the last time, I'm not the leader of any team, Nora." He groaned. No matter how many times he repeated this to Nora, she just didn't listen and insisted on calling him the team leader.
The worst thing about it was that none of his other friends were discouraging it.
"We aren't even a team! We are just a few friends traveling together to pass the second round of the Shaman Fight easier." He continued in exasperation more to himself than to Nora before grumbling under his nose. "I doubt that we will be able to keep our so-called team for the third round of the tournament anyway."
For some reason right after he shouted, Nora started to look a bit scared before quickly glancing to her sides as if she expected an enemy to come out. Though after not seeing anything after two looks she reverted to the confident smirk that still looked out of place on her.
"I get it, boss." Nora said with a quick laugh before adding pleadingly. "Just please don't shout that loud anymore. We wouldn't want to wake up the rest of our friends, right?"
It was weird. Nora normally wasn't a person to act differently because of people who were trying to sleep. Not to mention that her acting like that right now was incredibly hypocritical considering that she was the person responsible for waking him up in the middle of the night the most amount of times out of all of his friends.
"Yes, we wouldn't want that." He said while narrowing his eyes at the orange haired girl who laughed awkwardly in response.
Something suspicious was going on.
"Coming back to my previous question." Nora avoided his eye contact with a fake cough. "Did you learn anything new about the Tribes Village? I swear finding out anything about it is impossible. It's as if it doesn't exist."
It's true, that's why they never bothered asking random people about it whenever they visited any small villages earlier. Why would Nora think that he was actually trying to search for anything about it though?
"I didn't even try to find anything." He admitted with a shrug before adding while focusing entirely on Nora. "As you know, we already have a lead on the Tribes Village. We got it almost three weeks ago."
His friend's eyes widened as she shot up in excitement. A wide smile, more similar to her usual one than the smirk she had earlier, appeared on her face before she leaned towards him in curiosity.
"Hey boss, you wouldn't mind reminding me what that lead was, right?" Nora whispered to him while frantically looking left and right. "I might have forgotten some things about that lead during our travels and it's always better to have four shamans knowing where to go than to have three, isn't it?"
'Four shamans', huh? He thought to himself before subtly taking a step back. It was clear he wasn't talking with the true Nora at that point.
He was guessing that it was an Over Soul of one of the shamans who were tailing them earlier. An Over Soul capable of creating illusions would explain how he was the only one who noticed them being followed.
Sadly Summer wasn't with him so if he were to fight against a shaman he would most certainly lose.
At least they were on the same floor so in the worst case scenario he could run straight to one of their rooms and hope that either Summer or one of his shaman friends would be there.
"I actually would mind reminding you that." He said a bit louder than earlier while still trying to sound natural. "We've been over this dozens of times already, you have to pay more attention during our talks when we travel."
A frown appeared on fake Nora's face when she heard that and he used her short break in paying attention to take another subtle step back.
"Come on, don't be like that, boss. I will remember it this time for sure." Fake Nora insisted.
It would have been a perfect moment for his friends to finally start making some noise and give him a chance to slip away. Why did they have to decide to be calm and quiet precisely now of all times?
Were they even being quiet in the first place?
It's possible that the relative silence on that floor was an illusion as well. If he were to think about it, that was the most likely possibility. Nothing was capable of keeping Nora quiet and preventing a fight between Ren and Whitley for so long, let alone some fatigue.
"How about I will remind you about that lead during the morning briefing tomorrow?" He said, trying to sound serious before taking another step back.
There would never be any briefing of course, their group was too unorganized and casual for that, but Nora's pretender likely didn't know that and he was just stalling now anyway.
That seemed to be his only option to come out of this situation rather safely. If he were to try shouting for Summer or anyone to help him, he would basically reveal to his potential enemy that he knew what they were doing. At that point, if the person before him decided to attack he would be dead.
"Could you tell it to me now though, boss? Being given such a reminder with the rest of our teammates right next to me will be quite embarrassing." The fake Nora said bashfully. If there was even the smallest amount of doubt whether the person before him was a fake in him it would be completely gone by now.
The real Nora would never be embarrassed about anything. She was a person capable of spending over half of all of the money he managed to save throughout his entire life on pancakes in a single outing and not feel any shame about it.
She hadn't even apologized for that.
Jaune let out a slight pained sniffle as he remembered the bill he had to pay that night.
"Are you alright, boss?" Fake Nora asked in confusion, not knowing the evils the person they were pretending to be had done to him in the past.
He quickly used the fake Nora's temporary confusion to move a little bit further away from her. The distance between them was already big enough for it to be noticeable that he was slowly moving away from her.
"Yeah, I'm good." He said dismissively. There were times he could reminisce about the past but now he had to be focused on solving the predicament he found himself in. "I'm just tired from the entire day of traveling, that's all. I don't appear to be the only one tired either considering how unusually quiet everybody here is."
Almost exactly at the moment he said that, he noticed the fake Nora starting to look nervous. He must say though, he had never expected to see such an expression on Nora's face albeit the fake one.
It looked like his hypothesis about the silence being an illusion was a correct one. Ignoring the little disappointment he felt upon realizing that there wouldn't be a quiet night for him this time, he quickly began thinking how he could get help from his friends without the person before him realizing.
A quick glance to the side allowed him to notice that, thanks to him taking the steps back earlier, a door to one of their rooms was only a few steps behind him.
If he could only find a few occasions to move backwards a little then he should be fine. The only problem was that at the distance he was away from Nora's pretender it would be nearly impossible for him to take a single step without the shaman noticing.
He narrowed his eyes at the pretender before him. Her body was tense and he was pretty sure he could see the mist around them slowly moving towards her. That spiritual cloud was probably the source of the illusions.
She was preparing for a fight and he didn't have his guardian spirit with him.
And to think that none of that would have been an issue if only he took Summer with him when he went for the keys to his room or if he didn't try so hard to find the shamans that were following them.
At the very least he had a confirmation that they were being followed by someone.
He swore that was the last time he separated from the group to do anything important without having his guardian spirit with him.
"Well if you truly are goo-" The fake Nora started with a hollow smile only to suddenly widen her eyes in surprise before immediately backing away to the stairs and saying in a hurry. "Anyway, I still have something else to do for tonight. Be sure to tell me our lead tomorrow morning, okay?!"
"What just happened?" He couldn't help but ask while watching the mist gather into a thick cloud of smoke on the stairs before disappearing completely.
Was the Nora he was talking with not the shaman using an illusion but the guardian spirit of that person instead?
"Jaune!" He heard Summer call him from behind. "How much time are you going to waste?! We are leaving tomorrow morning and Ren is still fighting with Whitley!"
"Of course they are." He sighed as the illusion wore off. How much did he wish for that one thing to have been real. "Summer, can you please tell me what Nora is doing right now?"
"She's cheering for Ren to win the fight." Summer said in exasperation. "Why are you asking?"
Thankfully the opposing shamans didn't need to hurt any of his friends to create the illusions. Being worried about something like that might have been a little paranoid of him but after seeing many different Over Souls he knew there could be many weird conditions and effects to them.
"Let's just say we might have a good pretender trying to get information about the Tribes Village from us." He said while looking at the stairs where the fake Nora disappeared earlier.
...
Outside the tavern...
...
She had failed.
Sharona knew that it was most likely the only chance they had at getting the info without resorting to violence and it made her failure hurt even more. On top of that she wasn't sure what she could have done better to succeed.
Act more like the person her guardian ghost was impersonating might have been the obvious answer but it wasn't like she knew how that Nora person usually acted. They didn't have enough time to research such things.
Now there wouldn't be a second chance to try since the leader of that group of shamans would for sure warn his other friends about her illusions, not to mention that they would likely go to sleep already.
The only thing left for them to do was to try forcing the answer out of these shamans through force the next day.
At least there still was a single free room in the tavern where they could spend the night comfortably for once so it wasn't all that bad.
"How about we just politely ask them where they are going tomorrow?" Millie asked innocently while drowsily tilting her head to the side. "They look like nice people. I'm certain that they wouldn't mind sharing the info with us."
"It won't work." Sharona shook her head. The youngest member of her team still had a lot to learn. "We are in a tournament. It doesn't matter whether they are decent people or not, as long as we are other shamans competing in the same tournament we are their opponents and only idiots give any advantages to their opponents."
The only response she got from the youngest member of her team was a tired groan of acknowledgment.
A small sigh escaped her at that. While Millie might not have learned anything from what she just said, at least she was paying attention and considering how late it was, it was the most she could ask of the young girl.
"So what's the plan now, boss?" Ellie asked before yawning and leaning backwards. "Do we attack them while they are asleep or maybe we should wait until tomorrow and strike them just as they are about to leave? They will never expect that!"
No, she supposed, they wouldn't expect that. Though if they were to attack at that moment there would be a high chance that innocent people could get harmed because of their fight.
Sadly she would have to decline that idea because of that reason.
While Sharona wasn't a saint who would never utilize any underhanded tactics, she still had a bottom line she wouldn't cross under any conditions and harming innocent people who were unrelated to the tournament was somewhere on that line.
Especially if crossing that line didn't guarantee accomplishing their objectives.
"We will think about our next course of action tomorrow morning." She said with a frown. "For now let's just go to sleep and make sure we actually wake up before our targets leave the village."
In the end, it was the only thing they could be really doing right now.
After her unsuccessful attempt at getting the information, the leader of their targets would for sure be wary of anything so if they were to try attacking at night they wouldn't even have the surprise advantage anymore.
"Got it boss!" All of her teammates said with a mock salute before going towards the entrance of the tavern.
Honestly she was surprised that they stayed awake with her for so long. With how enthusiastic they were about finally sleeping in normal rooms earlier she half expected them to immediately go to sleep after arriving here.
A small smile appeared on her face as she watched her entire team sluggishly enter the tavern. Despite being so tired and not really that useful in gathering information they still stayed up late to keep her company.
Her team really was the greatest.
...
The next morning...
...
Considering how the previous day someone was trying to trick them into sharing their goals with their possible competitors the following night had been strangely quiet.
There weren't any attacks while they were sleeping. Not once were any of them woken up by someone pretending to be one of them. Nor any of them noticed anybody sneaking around them or eavesdropping their conversations.
Jaune was almost tempted to say that the opposing shamans decided to give up on getting anything from them.
He didn't say that of course since there still were many possible places and situations during which they could be ambushed or attacked before they left the village and he knew that they weren't close to being lucky enough for their enemies to simply go away so quickly.
Right now, they were just about to exit the tavern and go back to their journey.
The only thing that was stopping them from leaving at the moment was Whitley still not being awake and conscious enough to continue traveling. Apparently living a life full of night-long training sessions in order to become a better shaman meant that the young Schnee wasn't exactly an early bird.
"The white haired boy is acting suspicious, boss." Nora whispered to his ear jokingly while pointing at Whitley with her eyebrows before adding with an accusatory tone. "I think he might be the pretender."
A small sigh escaped him after hearing that. Since he told all of his friends about what had happened in the corridor before their rooms, Nora made a personal mission out of acting suspicious while jokingly accusing others.
He didn't want to think about how he was going to differentiate between real and fake Nora now.
"Who are you calling suspicious, you crazy huntress?" Whitley complained sleepily. "I'm not even sure if that spiritual cloud Jaune told us about would work on you considering that you aren't spiritually aware."
"It probably would." Ren answered calmly. "What would be the point of an illusion that only worked on a small percentage of people?"
That was a good question. What would be the point of that? If that Over Soul could only work on other shamans then it would have been completely useless outside the secret Tournament that happened every five hundred years or so.
It would become useless in a couple of months.
"Whatever." Whitley scoffed. "It's unimportant in the grand scheme of things. That crazy huntress won't be useful in a fight between shamans either way. Why haven't we left yet?"
After Whitley said that, Jaune immediately groaned into his hands, knowing what was about to happen. A second later he felt Nora slowly patting his back in what he assumed was a silent understanding of his pain.
Although if he were to turn his head to the side and look at his red haired friend's face he wouldn't be able to see anything resembling sympathy on it instead he would only see a barely hidden grin as Nora was trying her hardest to hold her laughter.
"Well the only thing stopping us from going is your sleeping schedule so maybe we should be asking that question to you instead of the other way around." Almost like a computer programmed for a single thing, Ren replied, igniting another fight between him and Whitley.
They hadn't even left the tavern yet for the Great Spirit's sake!
"No!" Jaune said shortly before stepping forward towards the door. "If you two want to fight then at least wait until we are out of the village. I don't want to cause any trouble in the single day that we are here. Understood?"
He swore he heard both of his shaman friends click their tongues in annoyance as he said that. Thankfully though, both of them gave in and didn't continue their fight leaving only Nora quietly calling him the team leader as the only thing that was annoying him.
There always had to be at least one thing to make it hard for him.
With a tired sigh and a shake of his head he gently pushed the door open. He tried to make as little noise as possible as he did that since the tavern was still really quiet despite the entire night passing and there being a couple of new faces at the bar.
It was early in the morning so most of the village was probably still asleep at the moment.
The first thing to greet them after opening the doors were five girls and women of different ages surrounding them in a formation that wouldn't be out of place in a combat scenario. A quick look at them revealed that beside each of them was a spirit in a spirit ball form, ready to form an Over Soul at a moment's notice.
Clearly the shamans who were following them earlier became tired of sneaking around.
"It truly is a pity that it had to come down to this but there's not much else we can do at this point." The blond woman at the center of the formation said wistfully while gently holding a small pipe.
Jaune raised his eyebrow upon that. It was clear that the blond lady said that more to herself than to them and they only heard that by chance. Could it be that those shamans didn't really want to fight them?
Maybe they would be able to resolve that situation peacefully!
"Is there anything we can help you with?" He asked politely with an awkward smile while trying to look approachable.
His try was being greatly hampered by Whitley, Ren and Nora readying their Over Souls and weapons right behind his back but nobody could say he wasn't trying. At least his guardian spirit didn't appear to be waiting for a fight.
There still might be a chance for a peaceful resolution.
"Jaune, form an Over Soul. We cannot start the fight without you." Summer whispered to his ear loud enough for the shamans surrounding them to hear before swiftly turning into her spirit ball form.
For some reason right after she said that, the blond woman who appeared to be the leader of the opposing shamans smirked slightly before looking at her youngest teammate with a knowing grin.
"We do not desire much from you." The blond haired lady shook her head arrogantly. "All we want is the knowledge you have about the Tribes Village. Just give it to us and we might go our way without the need for a fight. Though there's no way to tell if you will be able to get trough the second round of the tournament if we find it first."
Jaune let out a small breath of relief. He already suspected that was the case since they didn't really try to hide it last night. He wouldn't mind sharing it with them if it meant not having to fight an unnecessary battle, the main reason he didn't tell it to the pretender earlier was that the fear that people who were trying to get the info would try to harm them after getting it.
Sneaking around and trying to trick others into sharing things didn't paint the people doing so as good people.
"Do you really think we will-""Sure, we are going to Argus since a person we helped told us that their friend who lives there might help us find the Tribes Village." He interrupted Whitley's question with an honest answer and a shrug.
If looks could have been described by entire sentences then Whitley's look right after Jaune said that could possibly have been described by a 'Why would you tell our possible opponents exactly what they want to know before any fight could even start?!'.
Yeah, the young Schnee looked both a bit enraged and confused at that moment.
Ren and all their guardian spirits shared a similar look to a lesser extent. Only Nora acted truly differently as she was laughing and snickering to herself at the situation they all of a sudden found themselves in.
All of his friends were brought out of their exasperated states by a loud scoff from one of the shamans surrounding them.
"As if anyone would believe such an obvious attempt at lying." The blond lady shook her head in disappointment. "Fine, if you really want to hide things away from us then we will just have to beat the answer out of you."
Over Souls instantly formed all around him, be it from their enemies readying themselves for a charge or his friends already moving to defense. The only person who still didn't create his Over Soul was him.
A loud sigh escaped him as all the people around him were prepared for an attack, there went all of his hopes for a peaceful resolution. The knowing looks and nods Ren and Whitley were sending him only made him want to sigh once more.
"Summer." He commanded with a groan while grabbing the spirit ball form of his guardian spirit. There really was only one thing left he could do at that point and he didn't even know who the people they were about to fight were.
"Over Soul to the wooden staff."
And cut!
I didn't manage to make the lily five introduction joke flow nicely into the chapter (I even had a fun subversion on how it looked for team RWBY). Ohh well, there still are later chapters for that, I might even try in the next one.
I don't know if that's good new for you or not but with my new timetable at university I might be able to create a writing schedule that if done correctly will allow me to update rather regularly every Friday/weekend (Only if it will work of course).
We will see how this will turn out later.
See ya!
