Peter was on the side of the church still, thinking about everything that happened.

He was the son of Malcolm Merlyn.

The Symbiote was attached to him for that very reason.

But...was it all the suit? Was it possible some of that anger was his?

He wished he could blame the suit. Blame everything on it. But it would be a lie. Some of that anger truly was his...but his family did have good reasons for keeping it from him. How he reacted didn't exactly help the situation.

"They shouldn't have lied to us. They deserve to be punished. We dint need anyone else. We don't need Oliver. We don't need Thea. We don't need Miles. Or Anya or..."

"MJ?!" Peter asked, finally realizing something is wrong. And it is definitely coming from the suit. "Those aren't my thoughts!"

Then he dropped down to the church bell and knew exactly what needed to be done.

"It's this suit. I need to get it off." Peter said as he is frantically trying to pull it off.

"Stop! We need each other! We give you power!"

"You're also corrupting my mind!" Peter cried in anger as he frantically tried to pull the suit off. "Get off of me!"

He tried his best to pry the suit off, but it was like it was starting to become a second skin to him. Not even allowing him to morph back into his clothes.

As Peter did his best to rip the suit off, he stumbled a little and slammed into the church bell. That one ring from the bell, caused the suit to form an alien-like face (literally like a face from Alien) of sorts as it tried to get away from the sound.

Peter then remembered what Miles said, how the Symbiote didn't like vibrations.

That gave Peter a bright idea as he was able to pry the Symbiote off for a quick second before it formed back onto him.

"That's right...noise. You don't like the sound!" Peter realized he had a way out as he went to slam the bell again.

But before he had the chance to hit the bell again, his arm moved on its own and shot several strains of itself onto the wall in the room.

Peter tried to fight off the suit as it then started to cocoon around him. He fought as hard and as strong as he could,

But it wasn't enough as the cocoon finished wrapping around him and all Peter could see was darkness.

Peter groaned as he woke back up and looked around to see he was back in his room. But as he looked around the room, he noticed some anomalies that wouldn't be noticed if you didn't know the room as well as he does. Not to mention everything was in black and white like back in

This must have been around the time of the field trip. There was a knock at the door and opened to show it was Ned Leeds.

"Hey, man." Ned greeted him casually.

Peter's breath stopped at the sight of his best friend. Getting out of the bed, he walked over and was distraught at seeing him here. He grabbed and hugged Ned, tears falling down his face as he did so.

"Whoa. This is a new one." Ned commented as he pats Peter on the back.

"Ned. You're here! You're alive!" Peter was happy to say.

"Well, where else would I be?" Ned asked as he walked by and picked up his bag. "Come on, we got to get going to school or we're gonna miss the field trip."

That's when Peter then blinked before he could reach out to stop Ned from leaving, he was right back in the Oscorp facility that changed everything for him. Malcolm came in, attacking, Peter was bitten, and he watched his friends in the room run and hide before he was bitten.

When he opened his eyes, he was currently running down the street. Racing through the streets that had suddenly become a war zone on their own. People screaming, running, robbing stores, and just about anything that can be done is being done.

But then Peter was brought to a scene he hadn't been at. He looked down and saw his destroyed and scorched home of Ned. Looking down, he saw his friend's body and cried.

The area then changed again to show off nothing but webbing everywhere and darkness, along with a spotlight.

"We didn't kill Ned. The world took him from us." The Symbiote said as Peter looked up and noticed that it was back and looking down on Peter. "The world takes everything we love. There's no one you can trust...no one, but us. Join us. Bond us permanently, and we will make sure everything you've ever wanted is yours."

Peter couldn't help but begin to feel tempted by the suit. He reached out and was reaching for the suit. The Symbiote did the same, reaching and entangling itself around Peter's arm.

But before the suit could entangle itself around his arm, a hand came in and stopped him. "Hang on there, kiddo."

Peter looked over to where the hand came from and was shocked when he saw it was from his deceased father. "Dad?"

Robert Queen smiled as he reached down and picked Peter off the ground and smiled. "Look at you, my boy..."

"We don't need you, old man!" The Symbiote proclaimed as Peter was shocked at seeing his dad as he hugged his son.

"Too bad, you're stuck with me," Robert stated as he walked out into the darkness, pulling Peter with him.

"Wait! Stop!"

Peter then blinked and saw they were on the couch in the house, nobody else around. All but his father, sitting next to them as if it were one of the many talks they have had over the years.

"How's it been, kiddo?" Robert asked him.

Peter teared up and had no idea what to say. "I...I screwed up, dad. I...I don't know who I am anymore."

"Because of whom your blood father is?" Robert asked, getting Peter to look shocked. Robert saw his face and laughed at the sight. "I am not an idiot, kid. I always knew."

"What am I going to do?" Peter asked, looking down at his hands, they were covered in blood from his fight with Cletus. "I don't know who I am."

"You're just changing," Robert told him while placing a hand over Peter's shoulder. "Into the man you were meant to be. As I've taught your brother...with great power, there must always come great responsibility. Whether it be money or actual power like you."

"Who am I supposed to be?" Peter wonders.

"One with us!" The Symbiote proclaimed as it dropped onto the couch and crouched down to the two of them. "The world took our father away from us. And this proves our point. If he loved us, he would have told us who we really were."

"Him! Not you." Robert corrected the suit. "He's my son, I don't care about his blood. And that blood in him is what caused all of this, isn't it?" He then smiled as he looked at the television. "Your life didn't begin or end with who your family or blood are, Peter. It was just starting."

That's when the tv screen showed off several news reports of the masked vigilante going around and protecting people.

"I see the web, it's his signature, and I know Spider-Man was here."

"The guy protects us. He's a hero."

"Spider-Man!"

Then he saw more and more of all the people he protected. Being given the name Spider-Man. Saving MJ from the building. Meeting Miles' father and Clint. Stopping the car chase with the Demons. The bomb at City Hall. Fighting Martin Li. The Black Cat.

Then Peter opened his eyes, and he was back in the dark abyss with no way out. Then the Symbiote formed around his shoulder and sat there. "No one is denying the good we did. But where did it get us? We have no life. No family. No girl. No friends. None except for us."

Robert then showed back up and pulled Peter away from him. "I beg to differ."

Then Peter got flashes of his personal life. Meeting MJ. Meeting Ned. Meeting Harry. Meeting the other dimension heroes. Meeting May Parker. His first day at FEAST. His brother coming back home. Patching things up with his sister. Back when his mother was let out of prison. Meeting Anya. The spider bit Miles and him becoming he became his partner.

"Dad's right. I may have the blood of Malcolm Merlyn pumping through my veins, but I have the heart and soul of Robert Queen!" Peter finally realizes as he stood tall and proud. "And I won't give any of this up to become one with you!" He then looked back at his father and smiled. "Thanks, dad."

"Go get him, kiddo," Robert said as he stepped back for the two to dish it out.

Peter nodded at this transformed into his Spider-Man suit and then charged at the Symbiote. Peter punched and kicked the Symbiote as it tried its best to fight back.

Peter then roundhouse kicked the monster hard enough that it shrieked and the cocoon that was holding Peter broke and started to crack.

Seeing he was being freed, he kept the fight going and punched the Symbiote, sending it flying into another portion of the cocoon. As the cocoon started to crack open and shatter, Peter looked over at Robert.

Robert walked over and hugged Peter one last time. "That's my boy."

Peter held his father as hard and tightly as he could, not wanting to let him go. "Hey...dad?"

"Yeah, son?" Robert asked, separating and looking Peter in the eye.

"Are...are you real? Or is this all in my head?" Peter finally wonders.

"What's the difference?" Robert asked him, not really an answer for Peter but he could live with it. "Whether or not I am real or not, remember...I'm always with you."

He then wiped a tear from his face and the cocoon finally lets some light from the outside world in.

"I guess this is goodbye," Robert said as he wished he had more time. "Hey...you ever see Merlyn again, give him a kick to the ground for your old man, will ya?"

Peter chuckled, not really wanting to say Malcolm was dead last he checked and let him down. "Sure, dad."

"Go be the hero I always knew you would be, son," Robert said as the light engulfed them both.

Peter then finally found the strength to punch through the cocoon freeing himself from the mental prison.

Filled with the strength of his friends and family, Peter found the energy to free himself from the Symbiote, using its tentacles to swing and smack into the bell, causing it to ring and weaken the Symbiote.

Peter then shot out a web with his shooters and it attached to the bell, allowing Peter to pull the bell and smack it, sending a louder ring to shoot the Symbiote off of him.

"I've finally figured you out!" Peter said as he pulled himself free from the grasp of the ooze and found a bucket to toss it inside. "You feed off of negative emotions! That's why you were so attached to Merlyn, losing his wife and everything he's ever been through must've made him a buffet to you. And at the time we bonded... I lost everything. But right now...you must be starving!"

"Stop! We only want to help you!"

"Sorry, but you're my venom, and I'm through with you!" Peter declared as he got the rest of the suit off and tossed it inside. "Consider this relationship over!"

He then slammed a lid on the paint canister and lets Peter sigh in relief. Dropping down, trying to regain his strength without the Symbiote, Peter has never felt this weak in his life.

He knew the sound would weaken it, but no way it would kill it. Sound wounds and weakens it, but there isn't any way it would be enough to kill it.

It had survived in space for years, so cold was definitely not an option.

But there was one substance that everything would be destroyed by if brought to the right temperature.

Heat.

Peter waited until he was strong enough and picked up the bucket with the Symbiote in it and swung away.

Peter swung around the city and looked for the hottest source of heat in the city.

Low on options of where to find that much that, Peter settled for the nearest incinerator and watched as the Symbiote struggled to escape.

Peter stood there, with no remorse for the death of this monster that consumed his mind. Consumed his soul, to the point he was becoming Malcolm.

He was free.

He had a lot of apologies to make.

MJ was on her bed, texting everyone she knew: Miles, Anya, Gwen, and even a few other friends in the band club (Gwen being their drummer). None of them have seen Peter around or even in the city the whole day. He never showed up to school and she was getting really worried for him.

Did he get lost? No, he's been everywhere in this city.

Did he run away? It's a possibility.

Would he ever come back? She wishes she knew.

She kept toe hearing herself with questions all night, wondering what happened to her friend. She didn't want their last encounter to be the last they ever saw of one another. She questioned the what-ifs and kept hold of every question she asked when there was a knock on the window.

Mary Jane looked over and saw Peter kneeling there; a small smile on his face, and something made her think it was him again. Without the suit. She walked over and opened the window, waiting to see what he had to say.

Peter sighed and looked down at his feet in sadness. "I'm sorry. I know I was an idiot."

"And?" MJ asks, waiting for him to keep going.

"An egotistical idiot who should have listened to his friends." Peter sighed and knew she wanted him to apologize the best he could.

MJ chuckled and smiled at his apology and knew he meant every word of it. "Is it gone?"

"Gone for good," Peter promises and raised a hand to give a scout's honor. "On my life, it's gone."

MJ kept smiling and knew he was telling the truth and sat on the window frame, so they were face to face. "Good. Does this mean things go back to a sort of normal?"

Peter wished they could, but they could go back to a sort of normal. There was no way of going back to the way things were, but they can still be friends...and maybe more.

"It won't be the exact same, I might be more mature now." Peter quipped, getting a chuckle from MJ. He then got serious and reached out to hold her hand. "You know I would never intentionally hurt you, right?"

MJ smiled and nodded her head in confirmation. "Of course, I know you, Tiger. You'd rather die than hurt a friend."

Peter then pulled her hand and started to hold it. "Especially you, you mean so much to me, MJ. You're my friend...and..." Now or never, Peter. "There's something I've been wanting to tell you...I don't know how to really say this." He started to feel hot, tugging at his suit as he tried to tell her. "I-"

MJ quickly reached out and placed a finger against his lips to silence him before he could speak and shushed him. "Not to worry, Tiger...I know. But don't ruin this moment with words. How about this... I show you how I feel."

Before he could ask what MJ was talking about, she leaned in and kissed Peter on the lips. This has caused the hero to almost jump out of his skin at the fact that his friend felt the same about him as he did about her.

The two stayed like that. Neither of them cared about the time. Neither of them cared about what others would think. As far as these two were concerned, the rest of the world didn't exist. For years, they have been holding their emotions in, letting them develop from friends to greater. But now wasn't the time to hold things in, it was time to let them out.

This wasn't how either of them thought the night would end, but they were glad things turned out better than they could have imagined.

MJ has been there for Peter through everything, and he was more than happy she felt the same for him as he did for her. It was always the two of them, sure there might be extras in their lives, but right now the two of them knew they would conquer the world for one another.

What neither of them noticed was that a certain spider crawled its way over and dropped down onto Mary Jane. This was one of the six (now five) spiders that were scientifically enhanced.

But what was worse, Peter missed was that a small piece of Symbiote was left on the floor of the church. It came to life and started to splinter away, planning its revenge against Peter.
