It took 3 years but he learned something that he didn't expect to learn, he learned his caretaker's language, he wasn't fluent but hey, he finally got to say what his name was, "My name is Obscura!" He said to his caretaker. His caretaker then said "Mine is Emma. Why were you in the forest all alone?"
"I don't know, I open my eyes to no family. But I had hear bark" Obscura answered,
"Well, sounds like dogs were after your family." Emma replied, Obscura wasn't the biggest fan hearing this.
"Why? I never hear dog except that time." Obscura asked, "I think a dog's leash snapped. I'm sorry for what happened to you." Emma said with a somber tone. "It's no fault of you." Obscura replied, "It was you parents that did this to me"
"And I was the one that picked you up and brought you here." Emma said, she wasn't wrong, they did bring him here. But he wouldn't blame them for what happened. "I don't blame you, it wouldn't be right of me to. As you did save me, the blame for what happened to me is aimed at you parents." Obscura tried to reassure his caretaker.
"Thanks Obscura, but to make things up to you, if I can trust you to return, I can let you explore town when my parents aren't around." Emma offered, Obscura was ecstatic, he could explore town! "You can trust Obscura!" He said excitedly.
The next day his caretaker's parents had left to gather materials, he knew how long he had after they left, a quiet afternoon. They left and he told Emma that he was going to explore town.
He left out the front door the way he saw his caretaker open them. He left and walked down the street and past all the houses, and he saw another cat in a garden! He went over and jumped on the fence, the cat was startled by his sudden appearance. "Sorry! Did I scare you?" Obscura said quickly. "Yeah, you did." The cat said, "Why'd you do that?"
"Is it weird to say that this is the first time I saw another cat?" Obscura explained, "Was only able to explore today by luck."
"Really? Why's that?" The cat asked, but quickly said "Oh where's my manners! My name is Stanley."
"Mine is Obscura and uh, my owners parents would keep me locked in." Obscura answered. "Oh, it must suck being trapped in there all day." Stanley said, "When do need to return?"
"Well, when the sun is going below the horizon. So I have plenty of time." Obscura answered.
Obscura and Stanley spent the rest of the time chatting and getting to know each other. And they were happy. Until an unfortunate event unfolded that sent them away.
