Here's hoping this didn't take me a month to write, I've been slow lately...

Anyway, let's have some fun with disaster bisexuals. It's what you come here for right?

"It's so cold!"

Hiccup turned toward the sound, which seemed to be coming from a pile of blankets on the sofa. A messy blonde head appeared from under one of them, and Astrid scowled at the frigid air.

"I know, but I checked and the power cut should only be until tomorrow. And once the snow clears, we'll go see about getting an emergency heater."

Hiccup had checked the internet using his mobile data, since the Wi-Fi had obviously gone out along with every other electrical appliance. A freak blizzard had knocked out the power in the area, but according to their provider, the damage wasn't too bad and they were expecting to restore it by the next day. Luckily for them, Hiccup had a little gas camping stove so they could still heat some water. His dad was probably going to take the opportunity to tell Hiccup he needed better equipment at some point - most of the better camping gear their family had was at his dad's place, because of course that was just Hiccup's luck.

"Here, drink this."

He carried the mug over to Astrid, a gloved hand rising from the blanket pile to grab the steaming cup of tea.

"Why not coffee?"

"We're low on coffee and might not be able to get out to shop tomorrow. Would you rather have coffee now, or in the morning?"

Astrid huffed, then sipped the tea. Hiccup headed back to the camping stove, and finished making hot drinks for himself and his girlfriend, who was currently scouring the house for any other blankets Astrid wasn't presently using. It had taken them so long to clear just the snow around the back door so he could set up the stove, but it did mean they had hot drinks. And it wasn't actually snowing, so Hiccup was only freezing outside, not also getting soaked by snow melting on him. He turned off the stove and hastened back inside, puffing his cold cheeks out and hoping his skin warmed back up soon.

Heather staggered in to the room, holding a few old heavy blankets and throws Hiccup was pretty sure he hadn't seen since they moved in. Over a year ago.

"I don't even wanna know where you found those. Here, I made you tea."

"I love you."

Heather answered, dropping the blankets down on a chair so she could take the mug from him. Though none of them wanted to be freezing cold, Hiccup couldn't help but notice his girlfriend looked adorable even whilst wearing three hoodies and one of his wool beanie hats. He longed for some of the Viking in his blood to turn up in the form of cold resistance, but since he had two pairs of thermal socks on and his toes were still kind of numb, Hiccup was pretty sure his ancestors had not sent that along.

Once they'd let the hot drinks infuse their bodies with a little warmth, Heather curled up in his lap with a couple of heavy blankets over them. Astrid added the rest to her nest on the sofa, and they only moved to raid the kitchen for snacks. When it came to dinner time, they heated soup on the camping stove, followed up by some heavy hot chocolates - it made sense to use up the milk while the fridge was off, after all. And they were delicious.

"I'm gonna go ahead and suggest we get an early night, cus there isn't much else to do and it'll be too dark to see soon. I only have one torch and I don't want to get ready for bed by candle light when Astrid absorbs the torch in to her blanket nest."

Heather chuckled. Astrid glared, but agreed and headed up the stairs with as many of the blankets as she was able to carry. Hiccup brought the stove in from outside, so if it snowed again the stove wouldn't get all wet. He really hoped there was no more snow though.

He and Heather wrapped up warm before they climbed in to bed, wriggling around to try and warm the sheets up a little. Their weighted blanket definitely helped, and once they were done squirming to get the bed warmed up, the two snuggled up close. Once their body heat infused the bed a bit more, they were pretty comfortable. Hiccup had left a small gap in the curtains, so he could peer through. Just because it was freezing didn't mean he didn't think the snow looked pretty.

"Think we should invite Astrid in? Three is better than two."

"Heather!"

Hiccup rolled his eyes. His girlfriend let out a cheeky giggle.

"What? I meant for body heat!"

He rolled his eyes again.

"Yeah, I totally believe you."

"Alright. So I wouldn't mind having her here for more than body heat. Can you blame me? The girl practically lives in her workout gear, and damn she looks good."

Hiccup shook his head, burrowing in a little tighter to Heather.

"I know. It can be kind of distracting."

It wasn't an unusual conversation for them to have; both he and Heather were bisexual, and had a flexible approach to monogamy. They'd had a few bedroom guests, but were pretty choosy when it came to more than a one night roll in the hay, and so far nobody had ticked all the boxes for the two of them to consider it.

Except Astrid. They'd known her for a few years, and when the two were looking for somewhere to live together, Astrid had suggested she come along so they could combine their money and afford a better place. That had been over a year ago by then, and the couple had admitted to each other that they found Astrid attractive, but had no intentions of making any sort of move. They valued the friendship immensely, and it wasn't worth ruining their comfortable living situation with awkwardness if Astrid wasn't interested.

Heather was convinced she was. Hiccup disagreed. But he did agree Astrid's usual attire was very flattering on her strong, toned figure.

"Pretty sure she thinks the same of you. I can't blame her. I get kind of distracted by you too. Especially when you come out of the shower, with the towel low on your hips and you look all lickable."

Hiccup snorted.

"Astrid does not think I look 'lickable' when I get out of the shower."

"She does. But that's besides the point. I just had a great idea for how we can warm up."

He recognised the tone of her voice, and had a pretty good idea what Heather was suggesting.

"I am not taking off my clothes, I finally feel warm!"

"Spoilsport. See if I put out when the heating works again."

Heather pouted, but she snuggled in closer to him all the same. They couldn't really get much closer, not unless clothes did come off, but he wasn't complaining about the snuggles.

"I'm not worried."

Hiccup quipped back, yawning as the warmth started to make him feel sleepy. It was still early, but sleeping away the time until they had power and working heaters again sounded very appealing. And the weighted blanket always helped him fall asleep. Which was why they'd spent so much money getting one big enough for their huge bed.

His eyes were just beginning to get heavy when there was a loud knock on their bedroom door. Hiccup cracked an eye open, confused.

"Did you hear that?"

"Yes. Come in!"

Heather called out. The door opened, and what looked like a heavy blanket with legs entered their bedroom.

"I'm freezing. I can't feel my toes!"

Astrid's voice floated out from the blanket, and there was fumbling around before fabric moved to reveal her face. Complete with pleading, puppy dog eyes. Heather laughed, then stuck a hand out of the covers to wave Astrid over.

"Get in here. Can't leave friends out in the cold!"

It took very little time for Astrid to take that offer, and she dove in under the covers, teeth chattering a little before she felt the warmth under the covers begin to thaw her out a bit. Heather jumped suddenly, then glared at Astrid.

"Your hands are freezing! Keep them to yourself."

Hiccup bit his tongue to keep from joking about how Heather usually wished Astrid would do the exact opposite, and Astrid was entirely unapologetic.

"I told you I was cold!"

Heather started moving again, confusing Hiccup until she sat up and shifted. He hissed when he felt cold air creeping under the covers she'd disturbed, before she clambered over Astrid and nudged the blonde until she was laying in the middle of the two of them.

His girlfriend was probably up to something.

"There, warm up some more."

Still wrapped in her blanket, Astrid let out a happy sigh as she sank in to the warm spot Heather had vacated. Hiccup tugged the covers down a little tighter before any more cold could sneak in, and waited for Astrid to stop shifting to get comfortable.

"Better?"

He asked, and Astrid nodded eagerly.

"Much. It was either this or set fire to my bed. I could see my breath in there!"

Now he wasn't cuddled up to anybody, Hiccup wasn't quite as cosy and sleepy, but the weighted blanket was still enough to have him ready to try and drift off anyway. Astrid seemed to have no intentions of moving now she was warming up, which was understandable. The room fell silent, save for occasional creaks of the bed and three sets of breathing.

"Guys?"

Just as Hiccup was about to drift off again, Astrid's voice interrupted his lack of thoughts. Hiccup blinked and stifled a yawn.

"Yeah?"

He saw Heather's head lifting curiously on Astrid's other side, peering down at the blonde blanket burrito in the middle of their bed.

"This might be a weird time to say this, but I'm tired and warm enough that it almost seems like a good idea."

"Please don't tell me you punch in your sleep. Cami did that, I woke up with so many bruises."

Heather snorted. Astrid shook her head. Well, as much as Hiccup could tell with all the layers everyone was swaddled up in. She drew in a deep breath, and Hiccup was a bit concerned.

"No. I... well, it might just be because I've been single for a while, but-"

"Is this about you checking us out?"

Heather interrupted, and Hiccup's eyes popped wide open. Astrid seemed momentarily stunned silent.

"Wait, what?"

She stammered out in response. Hiccup saw an all-too-smug grin on his girlfriends face, though as she was facing more toward Hiccup Astrid couldn't see it.

"Once is chance. Twice is reading someone's t-shirt. Six times? You're checking me out. And that's probably just this week."

Astrid seemed uncommonly shy all of a sudden. Hiccup actually began to wonder if Heather had been right... though he was sure she'd be insufferable if it turned out she was. He waited, not wanting to put any pressure on Astrid.

"Oh. Uh. Sorry. I'll stop. I've been on a dry spell lately, that's all."

Heather started laughing, which finally prompted Astrid to twist around to look at her.

"What's funny?"

"You really don't have to stop. If we had an issue with it, I'd have pointed out all the times I've seen you check out Hiccup's ass. It's a great ass. More people should appreciate it."

"Heather!"

Hiccup protested, but Heather was very not-sorry and simply winked at him.

"What? I'm stating facts."

"I wasn't checking out Hi..." Astrid trailed off when Heather raised an eyebrow at her "yeah, alright. I was."

As Astrid burrowed back in to her blankets, seemingly a bit embarrassed by how completely 'caught' she'd been in what she had apparently thought was stealthy observation. He felt another yawn bubbling up, and stifled it in his hand so he didn't yawn right in Astrid's face.

"Look, this is fascinating and all... but this weighted blanket is getting to me, and this feels like a conversation we should have with hot coffee and no risk of hypothermia. So... can we go to sleep now?"

His suggestion seemed broadly accepted, which was handy as Hiccup doubted he could have stayed awake much longer even if it wasn't. As he closed his eyes and let the weighted blanket carry him off to sleep, Hiccup was quite certain he felt both Heather and Astrid shifting closer to him. It might have been his imagination... but he fell asleep with a small smile all the same.

Weighted blankets are magic. And who wouldn't shoot their shot just a little when someone lets you get in the middle?
