Chapter 8: The Box.

"So… what's up with all the foreshadowing for this mysterious art teacher?" Luz asked at the adult Luz and Amity as they left the Doctor's office. Now only followed by just Camila as she was going that way herself to meet up with Vee. Willow had gone to do some guarding duties at the boundaries of the community, while the Clawthorne sisters were off to do some… preparations, or so the young time travelers were told.

Adult Luz and Adult Amity look at each other after hearing the question before Adult Luz replied with a frown over her face. "It's just that… she's a little bit uncanny. I bet that you'll probably not meet someone quite like her ever again. And that's saying something in the Boiling Isles!" She laughed nervously.

Then Amity added. "Let's just say that she's quite the character. Whatever you do… don't look at her directly in the eyes, I sometimes feel as if she's looking deep into my mind..." Amity turned serious as she continued to describe. "Extracting my fears…"

Adult Luz just blinked at her confession. "Wow."

All the mystery behind the person they were about to meet, made both Luz and Amity a bit anxious. Soon, the voice of Camilla broke the silence.

"Oh, you two are just exaggerating, Miss Phoebe is such a delightful person… Monster…?" She said with a soft chuckle. "Either way, she's been helping Vee coping with these current times through art."

Both Luz and Amity chuckled softly. "Oh, I see. Miss Phoebe… seems kind of a familiar name… but where did I hear it before…?"

They both thought before their eyes went wide in shock. "They don't mean…" Amity said as they wondered if their suspicions were true.

Not far away from there, Vee -the young Basilisk- was working on a canvas, every now and then peeking at the famous art teacher that Doctor Faust has sent the gang to meet. She was meaning to ask her for some feedback on her secret gift for her family.

The famous teacher, with long blonde hair and a rather… football shaped head and big round eyes was quite distracted by a fly passing across her face. She waved her noodle thin arms around to scare it off. "Shoo… go away!" She exclaimed with her big mouth full of square shaped cartoonish teeth before her attention was brought into reality by Tiny Nose bringing a canvas up to her.

"Miss Phoewee! I fwinished my master pwiece!" The short pale with the big nose exclaimed as she placed her canvas in front of the cartoonish looking Eldritch Abomination, making her to look at the self-portrait that Little Nose has made. It was a rather hyper realistic painting of herself, except for the fact that her nose was abnormally large.

"Oh, I see. I must say, you've made perfect use of negative space. Aside from some… minor details, I'd say that your anatomy is quite flawless, especially the shadows giving the picture so much depth." Miss Phoebe said and kept giving both advice and constructive criticism while Tiny Nose just smiled and gleefully held her hands locked while listening to the praising words of her work. "Yup, good job, Dana!"

Tiny Nose frowned slightly. "Uh, Miss Phoebwee, my name is Tinella Nosa."

Miss Phoebe laughed softly. "Oh, YES! Perfect job, Dana! Keep fighting those corporate mice!" She winked and left a confused Tiny Nose to pay attention to another student. While doing so, she once again began to wave her hands to scare off that very same fly from before.

"Oh, Miss Phoebe. Have you come to check my work?" A female student who wore a red shirt asked while sitting on her stool and painting on her own canvas.

"Oh, right!" Phoebe said nervously as she suddenly appeared to the opposite side of the brown-haired woman, startling her in the process. "So, tell me, what am I looking at?"

The woman took a deep breath and then explained. "Ok, so this is more of an abstract thing. It might not be a portrait per se… but I believe that I represented a character that's been haunting my dreams as of late. I call it… Bill." She said with an ominous tone in her voice, at the smiling Eldritch Cartoon who replied.

"Ooo, a mystery! I LOVE IT!"

"Glad you think so, I've been having so much weird dreams lately. I blame the fish tacos I had yesterday…" She said, gagging a little bit.

"Oh, those are not fish tacos, dear. It's mermaid. Ha ha!" Phoebe smacked the woman's shoulder as she let out a small laughter. "But don't you worry, I believe humans digest mermaid in a week… or so."

"WHAT?!"

"Anyway, I gotta say, that your portrait intrigues me. The abstract way to represent your character with triangles is quite… exquisite. Somewhat unsettling, it sure leaves me with a desire to know more. And buy GOLD! For some reason! HA!" She laughed once more. "Good job Alex."

The woman raised her eyebrow and replied. "Eh, Miss Phoebe, Alex is my brother, I'm Ariel." She said as she turned the stool of her brother next to her, showing a man with a short beard and wearing a big sweater with a rainbow printed on the center.

"I'm the TWIN!" Alex exclaimed as he waved his sweater sleeves up and down.

Phoebe just smiled at them before saying with a wink. "Alternate universes, am I rite?"

"Miss Phoebe, would you come here for a moment?" The voice of another woman said from behind her back, making Phoebe to turn her round head in 180 degrees, making a very unsettling snapping noise that made the twins to widened their eyes in shock.

"Oh, sure! I'm coming!" The Eldritch being said as the rest of her body instantly turned in the same fashion as her head did just moments ago and slithered all the way up to the next student. Who gasped and gulped at the now creepy looking cartoon person standing next to her with that big abnormal smile on her face. "You called?"

"Uh, yeah…" The woman smiled nervously as she turned her canvas. She cleared her throat and tried to relax. "Ok, so remember I was working on a script? My mind was filled with these three characters that I represented in this portrait and their adventures. Three friends, separated and transported into another world through a box… the mayhem box! Dun dun DUUUN!" She exclaimed as she showed the art teacher the painting of three friends holding a box that's glowing a bright light and with some amphibian looking figures decorating it.

"Ooo, the picture itself is very intriguing. Is there a chance you'll lend me that script, when it's ready?" Phoebe asked as she examined the painting.

"Oh, well… sure. I'd like some feedback." The woman said with a small blush on her face.

"This painting speaks to me. Three friends, away from home, in a world with… frogs?" Phoebe rubbed her chin with an extra pale hand that was coming out from her back. "Lemme guess, the name of this brand-new exotic world is… drum roll… Amphibia?!"

"Eh…" The woman nervously replied. "Amphibiland actually… but that name does sound good…" She said, thinking about it.

"Almost got it right! Well, good job, Matt." Phoebe said, making the woman to raise her eyebrow and almost going pale from hearing her calling her Matt.

"Hm, Miss Phoebe… you know that my name is Marcy, right? But… strangely enough, that's the name of one of my characters, that's actually based… on myself… are you psyquic?" Marcy asked a little intrigued by the uncanny guess of her teacher.

The cartoonish being just smiled and laughed softly. "Oh wow… the creator becomes the creation, that's so META!" She was then distracted by the fly moving across her face once more. "Shoo! Stop it!" She waved her arms before she spotted Vee looking at her direction.

The Basilisk gasped and hid her face back on her canvas. She waited just a moment and peeked once more, only to yelp at the sight of the cartoonish woman standing right behind her canvas. "Oh… Miss Phoebe… good morning…" She panicked.

"Good morning! An old friend of mine use to say! HA! I couldn't help to notice you staring at me from across the room, I assume you need something?" Miss Phoebe said, making the Basilisk to nervously smile and then nod shyly. She wasn't an exact copy of Luz, but there was some resemblance in her appearance. Looking slightly younger than Adult Luz, but with some Basilisk features on her face, especially her eyes.

"Hm, you see, I… well I'm working on an especial portrait for… my family." She said, trying to find the words, blushing slightly.

"Ok, do you need some more time before you can show me?" Miss Phoebe asked politely, taking the shy nature of the Basilisk as a hint that she wasn't quite ready to show her piece.

It took a brief moment for her to shake off her shy nature, but finally, Vee decided to turn the canvas around and show it at her teacher. "I know that it isn't perfect, and I… well I worked hard on this. Do you think that mom and Luz would like it?"

Miss Phoebe rubbed her chin with one of those extra limbs coming from her back, while her actual arms were crossed around her chest. The painting was that of Camila, Luz, Amity and Vee, with Gus, Willow and Hunter also on the frame. It wasn't hyper realistic like Tiny Nose's, it wasn't abstract like Ariel's, or overly simplistic like Marcy's. It was a picture of her own, made with undying love to the people in the canvas. The picture shown all of them together, as a family, as if they had taken picture with Luz's phone. Smiling. Happy.

The Teacher grinned, with that wide smile that was characteristic of hers and gave her honest opinion. "I think they'll love it. I can see how much you care for them. I know we live in dark times, but I bet you, that this, is going to bring a little bit of magic back to their lives." She winked.

Vee was tearing when she heard it and instantly threw herself at the cartoonish woman to hug her. "Thank you! I know I haven't been the perfect student, but I'm glad to be in your class!"

"Aww, not the perfect student, are you joking?! You're my favorite student!" She said, making Ariel to raise her voice.

"Thank you for the support, Miss Phoebe!" She said sarcastically, making her to laugh out loud.

"NO REGRETS!"

All of a sudden, a voice echoed throughout the whole room. Making everyone to stare back at the door where Luz and Amity were standing, with Adult Luz, Amity and Camila standing right behind them.

"YOU!" Luz screamed with her index finger pointing at the art teacher who obliviously screamed back at her.

"ME! Wait. Why are we screaming?" She said with a soft laughter.

"Phobos! You're not supposed to be here, we vanished you! We beat you fair and square!" Luz said as she began to walk up to the cartoonish woman.

"Whoa, whoa… kid, calm down." Adult Luz tried to intervene.

"Calm down?! Calm down?! Do you even know who she is?! She is The Boogeyman!" Luz exclaimed while the teacher began to sweat a little bit while she was being exposed.

This made Camila to intervene aswell. "Cariño, why are you saying things like that? Miss Phoebe is the sweetest… being in the Boiling Isles. She wouldn't harm a fly." She said while Phoebe was following a fly with her eyesight and killed it with her hands with one clap.

"She killed a fly just NOW!" Luz exclaimed. "She is a super villain that can bend space!"

"OH NO! Universe, bad timing, why do you conspire against me?!" Miss Phoebe dropped to her knees in dramatic fashion.

"Wait…" A voice suddenly spoke and broke the silence. "Arre you a superr villain?! My therrapist prrohibited me to be arround villainy, I'm a superr villain in rrecovery…"

"For the last time, I'm not a super villain, DAN!" Phoebe backlashed at the man with the odd shaped head.

"What? My name is not Dan… it's Heinz, Doctorr Heinz Doofenshmirrtz. I've told you a million times!" The man with the abnormally large nose said. "C'mon, yourre brreaking the illusion, what arre you doin'?"

The poor confused Vee just stared in awe as it appeared to be there were two Luz and two Amitys. "What is going on here…?"

Which made Adult Luz to reply with a nervous smile. "Ooo, Vee, don't freak out. It's kind of complicated, but to sum it all up…" But before Adult Luz could get to the point, Miss Phoebe then asked at the younger Luz and Amity in the room.

"Are you time travelers?" She grinned.

"Uh…" Luz sweat a little bit. "How did you even…?"

"Oh, ha-ha! Welp, would you believe that to be a lucky guess?!" Phoebe said, laughing out loud. "But seriously, there's like two older versions of you in the room, c'mon."

"Actually, to be a lucky guess would be an understatement. You're always saying stuff like this all the time, as if you're living in a tv show or something." Adult Luz said with a soft chuckle.

Phoebe began to sweat and smiled nervously. "Yeaaaaah…tv show, HA! It'd be pretty weird if we were actually living in a tv show, right?"

"Very weird, indeed. "Adult Luz said.

"But I can guarantee you, that we're definitely not living in tv show!" Phoebe said with the largest smile on her face.

Adult Luz would crackle a soft chuckle and said with a playful sarcastic voice. "Well, that's reassuring."

When all of a sudden, Phoebe got incredibly close to her face, making Adult Luz to feel slightly uncomfortable by the lack of private space she was being given. Before she could even point it out, the creepy tone of Phoebe's voice then broke the silence across the room in a faint unsettling whisper.

"We're living in a fanfic world…" Phoebe then grinned and wiggled her arms as if they were noodles while her voice turned into a less frightening goofier spooky one. "Woooooo…~"

Adult Luz gave a little bit of a glare. "Yeah… no." She then coughed. "Ok, we've been meaning to ask for your help. We got something that we would like you to check for us."

"Something?" Phoebe said, intrigued.

Adult Luz turned around to grab the staff from her younger self, but the little one seemed to hesitate, taking a step back as she looked back at Amity, then to her older self. "I don't know what's going on, but… this… Phoebe… Phobos…"

Adult Luz could take the hint that there was something wrong, so she turned around and smiled nervously at the cartoonish abomination standing behind them. "Give us a moment…"

"Sure thing. Take your time!" Phoebe waved at the young Luz and Amity poking from behind Adult Luz with a glare. They took a few steps back, with Adult Amity joining them.

When they were standing at the other side of the classroom, Adult Luz then asked. "Ok, so… I can already tell that you're not very fond of her… how do you even know her at all? What's the lore behind this… screaming you did earlier?"

Luz and Amity both looked at each other before explaining. The whole story of how the cartoonish corpse terrorized Hexside back on their timeline. By the time they finished, Luz added at the end of her tale. "She called herself Phobos the Boogeyman… she almost let a Tulpa Abomination kill Amity…"

Amity then added. "She made us live our fears. She let me feel… utterly destroyed…"

The both adult versions of themselves stared at each other when the story was over. With Luz speaking up. "Ok… that was, intense. I'm sorry that…" But her voice was cut off by the sudden yell of surprise by her mother.

Camila stared at the painting that Vee made with Phoebe by her side at the other side of the room. She and the rest turned around immediately when they were called.

"Mija! You got to look at this!" She said with a wide smile on her face and teary eyes of joy.

"Uh… coming!" Luz said before looking back her younger self. "Give me a moment, ok?" Both adults walked up to where the small group was standing. The younger Luz and Amity were intrigued by what was going on, and slowly walked up them to hear what the commotion was all about.

They saw their older versions looking at a painting that a bashful Vee was holding. Featuring them, her family. With Camila, Luz, Amity, Willow, Gus, Eda herself… and even Hunter aswell. It wasn't perfect by any means, but she had put her heart into it.

They could see in the face of Adult Luz that she was thrilled, praising and rubbing her hand on Vee's short hair. A proud look on her eyes.

Adult Amity had a large blush on her face and was tearing up aswell, speaking up in surprise as she didn't expect her to include her in the picture.

Camila couldn't keep herself from hugging and kissing onto Vee's cheek, making poor Vee to let out a soft laugh and bashful 'moooom!' out of her mouth.

Vee took the chance to speak when she was able to. "I really wanted to show all of you when everyone in the picture were gathered in the same place… but every day here has become a struggle. Every time that you all go back out there… I fear you're not coming back…" Vee said, her voice cracking a little bit, making Camila to hug her around her shoulder, reassuringly. "But I know you're saving lives out there. I just want you all to know… that I'm happy, to call you all my family." She smiled, all three of them then shortly embraced her.

"Aww, siempre tan linda. I'm so glad to call you my sister, Vee. I mean it." Adult Luz said reassuringly. "I know that I've worried you so much, but I won't ever leave you guys… ever. Ok?"

"Ok." Vee said with a soft sniff before they all hugged once more. Shortly thereafter one of Vee's eyes noticed the bandages on Luz's hand. "What happened to your hand?"

"Shhh…" Adult Luz hushed her up. "We're having a moment."

But soon enough, Camila's voice raised up in an authoritarian mother type. "Mija, what happened to your hand." She glared, demanding an answer.

In a panic, Adult Luz yelled. "I was accidentally wounded out there while trying to help someone in need! I do this all the time…" She continued to dig herself a bigger grave, with Camila immediately backlashing with her own concerned arguments.

Both young versions of Luz and Amity were watching this whole goofy family moment. Amity turned to look at Luz with a smile.

"Your mom… I like her. She seems nice."

Luz teared up with a wide smile on her face. "Yeah… she is. I hope that you can meet her on our own timeline."

They chuckled nervously and then brought their attention back to the now calm scene. With Camila reaching out to the cartoonish corpse they knew as Phoebe.

"Thank you, in behalf of our small community, for giving not only Vee, but all of us this space to distract ourselves from these hard times we're living in." She reached out to hug Phoebe.

"Aww… you're so very welcome." Phoebe said with a large grin on her face as she hugged back. Both Luz and Amity looked at each other.

"Do you think we can… trust her?" Luz asked.

Amity shook her head. "I… don't know… I would rather not. But I'll stand by your decision."

Luz sighed and then raised her voice. "Phobo- I mean! Phoebe! Have you truly changed?"

"Excuse me?" Phoebe asked, her smile not fading as she tilted her head to the side in confusion.

"Whoa, Luz. C'mon, let's not… maybe we shouldn't be doing this today…" Adult Luz said as she walked up to them.

"Are no you no longer identifying as Phobos the Boogeyman?" Luz said as she stepped forward.

The cartoonish woman began to look to the sides, both confused and a little bit nervous. "Eh… no? I never have… I…"

"This Boogeyman thing again… why do you even…" Camila said in concern before Phoebe finally gave into the pressure.

She is right…" She said in a disappointed tone as her large cartoonish eyes would stare down at the floor, kicking her foot in defeat. "It is true… I used to be… The Boogeyman. The terror of the night. The fear under the bed. The Re-Animated Corpse. The monster which inspired so many tales, urban legends… and even some badass trash metal songs."

"Trash metal songs?" Adult Luz asked.

"Sorry I kept this information from you. I used to do… a lot of bad things in my past. I was a part of a group of people who believed in the idea of changing the world through some very unorthodox and quite… chaotic methods. But when I came to this place and you all were being so open to accept me. I…" Phoebe said as she rubbed the back of her neck with an extra hand coming out from her back. "I thought maybe you wouldn't feel that accepting if you knew my past."

"Dude. We literally welcomed Doctor Faust… you've heard his backstory?" Adult Luz cracked a soft chuckle. "I think you've been doing a lot of good for us to overlook who you used to be in the past. As long as you've left that past where it should be."

"It is slightly disheartening to hear you wouldn't trust us with your past. But that doesn't change a thing. But I have to say, that I understand why you would keep information from us." Camila said as she held both of Phoebe's hands on hers.

Vee rushed to hug Phoebe from the side, making the cartoonish corpse to grin once more.

"D'aww… I don't deserve this chance you're giving me. But thank you."

"Ok… so you're not fear addicted anymore…?" Young Luz asked as she brought the conversation back on topic.

"Fear addicted?! HA! No. This corpse only consumes good vibes now!" The cartoonish woman said before whispering at her and pointing back at the students sitting on their stools and painting on their canvases. "Their good vibes…"

"Wait what…?" Ariel raised her voice as she was closest to them.

"Oh, I said I'm feasting on your good vibes!"

"Is that a good or bad thing…?" Ariel asked.

"Yes." Phoebe said with a large smile on her face.

"Fear addicted?" Adult Luz asked to both of them.

"Like I told you, she was forcing us to face our fears in order to feed herself… she kinda eats emotions. Right?" Luz had to ask at Phoebe who grinned.

"That does sounds like lil' old me." She laughed.

"She literally ate Grom." Luz added.

"Oh… she kinda did that here aswell." Adult Luz said. "When Hexside was closed down by Phil, there was no one to face Grom the following year and it broke loose and started to wreak havoc among town. Until… well, Phoebe literally melted it and…" Adult Luz then made a grossed-out face. "Ate it… I think. I couldn't tell through all that… gooey mess."

"Ah yes, Grom." Phoebe laughed. "That was the very last piece of fear I consumed. Can't say I miss it."

Young Luz stared briefly at Amity before addressing the crowd once more. "Well, I guess it is possible that things could be different in this timeline…" She looked at Amity once more, who still hesitated but reassured her with a smile that told her that she was ok if she wanted to trust her before they heard the voice of Phoebe addressing them.

"I don't know exactly the details of what happened in your timeline. I cannot speak for that version of me… and I know that you have your reasons to think I'm not any different from that monster… but even if you don't believe me. I want to offer you both an apology for any wrong doings I did in your world." Phoebe said before adding. "Sincerely."

Young Luz sighed and then smiled. "Guess you can truly change the world with kindness after all. Wouldn't you agree?" Luz told the cartoonish corpse as if she was rubbing some inside joke on her face.

"Of course, you can!" The corpse said, not quite getting the joke but agreeing with the sentiment.

Luz looked at her older self and then brought the staff up to her.

Adult Luz took it and then offered it to the teacher as she laid her eyes on a relic that surely brought some memories to her. "So, the reason why these two are time traveling, is because of this staff. The Doctor told us that you may be able to help us to get them back to their timeline? He said that there was someone… within this staff. I don't understand… how. But it involves space bending… and Faust said you were more skilled at it than he is."

"Where did you even find this…?!" Phoebe exclaimed as she reached to grab the staff. "HA HA! I can't believe it! I haven't seen this staff in so long… like way back when I was just a young deceased corpse! Fighting the likes of the Blue Lightning! Wreaking havok, fear and despair upon… dare I say… SOCIETY! HA HA! I said the word…"

She then began to sweat when she noticed everyone suddenly turned sceptic of her change of heart. "But that's in the past of course! Who wants to oppose good guys! NOT ME! That's for sure!" Phoebe exclaimed with an innocent but nervous smile as Doofenshmirtz added.

"Ah, you had a nemesis too. I can rrelate to that."

"Can you help us?" Young Luz asked as the teacher continued to examine the staff.

"Oh, well, there's indeed a pocket dimension within this gem. I guess I can give it a try." Phoebe said. "Welp… are you guys ready to see my party trick?" She grinned as she dramatically lifted the staff and then brought it down to forcefully stick it on the ground, making young Luz to gasp in concern.

"Please don't break it!"

"Don't worry… this thing has seen worse things." Phoebe reassured as she then cracks the knuckles on her attached arms, before a pair of extra arms came out from her back and then dug into space itself and force the pocket dimension open in front of everyone.

A crack in reality was wide open, and the corpse went through it before the portal suddenly closed up.

They all stared into the void before Adult Amity broke the silence in the room. "She is coming back, right…?"

"I hope she doesn't betray us…" Young Amity whispered to herself, with her girlfriend being the only one who heard her.

But instead of saying anything, Luz simply reached out to hold her hand and smile at her. Reassuring her that while their current predicament was GRIM… they still had each other. Amity sighed but smiled back and held the hand tightly.

It didn't last long before the portal opened back up and then Phoebe was back, stepping out from the tear in space and closing it up with a pair of extra hands on her back.

"Phew! Here we go…" Phoebe said, as she briefly coughed up.

"Wait…" Amity said as her eyes were set on the corpse lady while she did something with the hand she coughed with. But Amity's head began to ache by a sudden and quite… convenient headache made her to look away and shut her eyes while groaning in a brief uncomfortable pain. This made her girlfriend to grow concerned and ask immediately while squeezing her hand.

"Hey… you ok, sweet potato?" Luz asked with a worried tone in her voice.

"Yeah… I just." Amity rubbed her head but then was interrupted as Phoebe walked towards them and showed them the box she was holding in her hands.

"What's that?" Adult Luz asked.

"This… is a Schrodinger's box." Phoebe explained.

"Schrodinger's box? As in the German scientist?" Luz asked with a raised eyebrow.

"What?" Phoebe raised her own eyebrows. "Ok, I don't know who you're talking about. In my world, the man that created pocket dimensions had a cat, named Schrodinger, whenever he would bring any box back home, she would pick the content up and toss the items out so she would take a nap inside. Which at first was a little bit of an annoyance. But soon came to ponder on the idea of replacing boxes so he won't have to deal with his cat making a mess. Experimenting with space was his job and in no time came up with the idea of pocket dimensions. And named them in honor of Schrodinger, his cat."

A brief silence reign supreme once more before Luz said with a very serious tone in her voice.

"That sounds like it'll make the most adorable documentary in history…"

"Oh, it would. Schrodinger is practically a celebrity in my reality. HA HA! Can you believe that there was once a time that people use to bring a bag to school?! INSANE!" Phoebe laughed, making them all to look at each other and laugh nervously with her.

"Yeah… sounds like a nightmare." Adult Luz said.

"So, what's inside the box." Amity said with a serious look on her face.

"Can you open it?" Adult Amity asked with a more friendly tone in her voice.

"Well… I'm not sure if I should." Phoebe said before immediately being cut off by Amity.

"Why?"

"Amity…" Luz whispered with concern.

"While this is a Schrodinger Box, this doesn't seem to be have the logo of the company or any company in my world that produces them. So, I'm afraid that this might be an old one… like waaay before in the Old World. It could be a risk if I open it. It could be nothing. There might be something in it. Or it might just become a black hole that consume whole dimension. I may survive… but I don't know about you guys…?" Phoebe said as she tapped the top of the box.

"Isn't there a safe way to open it?" Adult Luz asked.

"Well, there would still be risks, y'know. Are you sure you want me to do this before the big day?" Phoebe asked with a grin on her face.

Making Adult Luz and Amity to blush and look to their younger selves as they asked.

"Ok, we've been hearing about this big day since we've arrived here… what exactly are you guys preparing for?" Amity asked.

Then Luz gasped and the adult versions of themselves grew more nervous. "You guys!" She then exclaimed. "Are you leading a rebellion against Phil?! It all makes sense now, in every post-apocalyptic world there's always a rebellion standing against the oppressing force ruling over the world!" Luz continued to gush as if she knew what the big day was.

Adult Luz and Amity looked at themselves before they heard Camila whispering at them. "Are you going to tell them…? Or will you postpone… the date?"

Adult Luz sighed and then looked at her Amity, they then faced their younger selves staring back at them before Adult Amity finally blurted out.

"We're getting married…" The brown-haired woman blushed heavily as if she was a teen once again.

"Wh-what?!" Luz exclaimed while Amity was just red as her older self in the room.

"Ok ok! Guys… don't freak out. I know this is a very uncomfortable position for you." Adult Luz began to try to calm them down. "So, you got to understand. We've been through a lot in these eight years that we've known each other. Things might or might not work for you two. But we…"

She then looked at her soon to be bride finished her sentence for her. "Have made our minds. We…" Adult Amity continued. "We hope that this doesn't affect what you two feel for each other. Please, enjoy every minute and every moment of your life to the fullest. Make your own decisions and hopefully you find the same happiness that me and my Luz have found for each other."

The young versions of themselves stared into them, pale, still in shock. But soon looked at each other and smiled nervously at one another.

"Yeah… I think I understand." Luz said.

"Guess, we can wait…" Amity blushed heavily once more and looked back at their future versions.

"You sure?" Adult Amity asked.

"Yeah… I wouldn't like to ruin this moment for you. The past will still be there for us… I hope." Luz said. "We're happy for you… us… ugh this is so confusing at times!" She joked to break the tension, making everyone to laugh.

"Hey… I'll bring you back home. We'll find a way." Adult Luz said as she reached for them to hug them.

On the back, Phoebe was whispering at Vee with a playful tone in her voice. "They're getting married in the middle of a war and she still believes this isn't a fanfic."

Vee snorted as her ears heard her sister yelling. "We're not living in a fanfic!"

When they were free from the hug from their older selves. Amity then made her way up to Phoebe and took the box straight from her hands. "We're keeping this in the mean time."

"Amity…" Luz said a little bit concerned of Amity's distrust for Phoebe.

But the teacher simply laughed softly and shook her head. "No, that's fair. That's wise, I wouldn't trust me either. It's fine. Really."

"Ok." Adult Luz said, oblivious that there was someone watching from the back of the classroom. An old foe of theirs. Tibbles, who would soon find himself in front of Belos' castle which now was Phil's fortress.

"I demand to see Phil…" Tibbles addressed the new Royal Guards in the command of Phil. "I have seen the item he is looking for, and I can tell him where he can find it." The short enemy of the Owl House grinned as the large doors opened for him and walked in.

End of Chapter 8.

Hi, I know it's been a while since the last update. This isn't something I wrote recently, it has been sitting on my laptop shortly after posting chapter 7. Just edited it recently and erased a bunch of stuff to make it a little bit more presentable.

I didn't stop updating because I wanted to. I've been doing an internship. I've been taking this seriously, because I really REALLY want them to hire me. So, yeah.

I know this chapter is quite a ride. And I tried my best not to censor myself and go fully whack on it. I'm not sure if I'll finish this fic, I'm having some serious thoughts about how I want it to end. But I'll try to finish it up for the sake of closure.

I really wanted to write a trilogy, and I have a vague idea of what a third fic would be about, but I don't know. We'll see.

Also, this chapter isn't the only thing that's been sitting in my laptop since I disappeared, I have been working on fanart too. Consider following me on twitter: Gwendoeswriting. Thanks, and hope you all well.

Last thing to say is that I'm aware the show just revealed that you can time travel in the Boiling Isles. I know, I was bummed. xD

Ok, see ya next time.

UPDATE: I decided to close this fanfic. So, if someone is either reading this for the first time or re-reading for some reason, you know that there won't be any follow up chapters coming.

I'm going to focus on the remaining of my internship and hopefully I can get the job I really desperately need right now. While that is a very justified reason for me to drop this story, I also I'm not happy with it, and I'm just not motivated any more. I'm not erasing it, I'm keeping it here so it reminds me to always arrange my priorities.

I'm sorry. I might come with another story at some point, but I'm done with this one. Thank you for the faves and follows. Hopefully you'll be here when I post something that I'm really invested for.
