–The Party–
''Hey hey,'' Milo said, letting the door fall shut behind him as he walked into the kitchen, wrapping his arm around Andy and kissing her cheek.
''Morning,'' Andy said, sleepily rinsing her cereal bowl in the kitchen sink. Despite it getting late the previous evening she was up early as usual; Lu was still asleep upstairs. It had been a slow morning; a short workout, reading the Army Times while still in her pajamas, none of it had really woken her up and she had to stifle a yawn.
''How did it go?'' Milo asked, cutting to the quick as he was curious how the previous night had gone even despite there being no doubt in his mind that Lu had said yes. He had been surprised when Andy had shown him the ring just a few days prior, surprised that she hadn't showed it to him earlier, surprised that after him pushing her towards marrying Lu she hadn't even brought it up to him.
Andy leaned back into his embrace and held up her hand, showing him the ring she had been gifted by Lu. It was hard to look away from it, every glance at it filling her with joy. When she turned around in Milo's arms she saw the baffled look on his face, ''she gave me a promise ring.''
''A promise ring?'' He asked, holding back a chuckle. He grabbed her hand to give it a good look.
''And she said yes,'' Andy added, somewhat quietly, as she stared at him. Despite how supportive he had been when she had shown him the ring she would still always have doubts about his feelings about her and Lu's relationship.
The smile on his face was more convincing than she had expected, ''congratulations!''
''You mean it?'' She couldn't help but be skeptical.
Milo cocked his head to the side, ''I wouldn't lie, not about this.'' He kissed Andy softly, feeling weird about it when they were talking about her relationship with Lu, and wrapped his arms around her. When he pulled away he put his hand on her belly, feeling a kick nearly straightaway.
''She got us a strap-on,'' Andy said, blushing at the memory of it. It had been a nice surprise even if it didn't turn her on as much as the real thing did. They had gone for two rounds with it and though there was a slight learning curve to it they had figured it out quickly enough and Andy's imagination conjuring up images of what Lu had told her about her dream had elevated the experience even more.
''Oh.'' Lu and Andy together was always exciting for Milo and he could only hope he would be able to bear witness to this one day.
''Yeah.''
Milo looked down at Andy who was still snuggled up against him, his arms around her. ''…is it bigger than me?''
Andy rolled her eyes slightly, palming him through his slacks, ''you have nothing to be embarrassed about.'' She whispered seductively in his ear.
''I know,'' Milo said, groaning slightly, hoping against hope that she wouldn't take her hand away. Her evading the question only made him more curious. ''So, is it?''
Andy sighed. ''No.'' It really wasn't, not that she would have told him if it was. The size difference was only slight anyway and it had made her wonder if Lu had kept Milo's size in mind when picking it out. She took a deep breath, figuring this was as good a time as any to bring up Lu's dream to Milo, knowing that she had to be careful how she brought it, ''anyways, Lu had this idea…''
Milo looked down at her when she trailed off, a wide smile spreading on his face when he realized what she most likely was talking about. He licked his lips, trying to control his imagination for the time being. ''I know what you're thinking.''
''You do?'' Andy asked, pulling away and looking up at him. She had heard the excitement in his voice and couldn't hide her surprise, ''and you're game?''
''Yeah.'' They were both quiet as it sunk in for both of them that they were most definitely not on the same page and wondering what exactly the other person was thinking. Milo pulled away from her, unsure of where this was going and even more unsure if he even wanted to be a part of it. ''I know that we're thinking the same thing but just to be sure why don't you tell me what you're thinking.''
Andy hesitated, knowing that he probably wouldn't like the idea. Still, she had promised Lu that she would ask and the more she thought about it the more excited she got. ''Me using one on you…?''
''I'm not gay,'' Milo said almost too quickly, frowning at her. Of all the ideas that he had been able to come up with in the seconds of silence this idea had been dismissed before it had even fully formed.
''There's nothing gay about having sex with your wife,'' Andy said, feeling uncomfortable with how defensive he had sounded and confused by how his mind had gone there in the first place.
He could hear that she had taken offense with what he had said and knew it would be best not to press the issue. ''…I'll think about it.''
When he turned away for a second she shook her head, trying to forget the weirdness of the moment. Still, she was curious what his idea had been and it seemed like the perfect way to change the subject. ''So, what were you, oh…'' She was familiar enough with how his mind worked to know exactly what he had thought of.
Milo's wedding night. His second one, with Sandra. She had ended up in bed with Nick, again, Peter had come in… It was a bit of a blur, hands and lips everywhere. Peter behind her, his body pushing into her back. The way Nick had attempted to keep her focused on him as Peter retrieved a bottle of lube from the nightstand, his chapped lips on her neck as his slick finger found its target.
Andy remembered that they had taken their time but it felt rushed looking back. She remembered the intense pleasure she had felt, the adrenaline from being with both of them, as well as how uncomfortable she had been, how her hesitation had been overshadowed by Nick telling her that she would like it.
Milo's voice took her out of the train of thought.
''What do you think?''
''I'll have to ask Lu,'' Andy said, trying to shake off the way thinking about Nick and Peter's hands on her made her skin crawl ever so slightly. ''So, what… configuration were you thinking?''
Milo chuckled, kissing her on the lips and putting an arm around her. ''Let me put it this way, if you are going to get my ass, I'm going to get yours first.''
''Yeah no, no, I don't think so,'' Andy pulled away, crossing her arms. There was confusion on his face and she shrugged, ''why?'' Why would they have to do his idea first?
A bit of a laugh escaped his lips, ''Andy, if you're going to put anything up there, I need it to be worth my while.'' He hoped that she would enjoy the threesome enough that she would be okay with them not doing her idea anymore but knew it wasn't likely. He knew more than enough about anatomy to know that it would most likely be pleasurable for him but the thought of being that submissive to her, it felt embarrassing.
''It will be, but I don't want us to do that only because I let you and Lu do anything to me first.'' That hardly seemed fair. ''I want us to do that because we both want to, not leveraging it to get something else out of it.'' She knew he was still hesitant as she expected him to be, ''I'm only doing this if you go first.''
Milo thought about it for a second, unsure if watching Andy get pounded by Lu as he did the same would be good enough that he would be able to live with having to be on his hands and knees for a couple of minutes. He needed more time to make up his mind. ''And if I do…''
''I'll talk to Lu about doing the other thing afterwards,'' Andy said, for once feeling totally unsure of how her partner would react. It was the exact kind of thing that Lu enjoyed but with the way Lu's relationship with Milo was going she wasn't sure. She took Milo's hand, ''what do you say?''
Milo nodded slightly, repeating himself, ''I'll think about it.''
It hadn't been the most satisfying answer but Milo had looked less opposed to the idea by the end of their conversation than she had expected. She figured it had been as good a time as any to head upstairs to her and Lu's bedroom to get dressed for the day. Spend some more time with her now fiancée and give Milo some time to do some of that thinking.
''You look nice,'' Andy said, looking Lu up and down who while not in fancy dress or anything looked more done up than she usually did.
''Thanks,'' Lu said, putting in her earrings in front of the vanity, one of the few pieces of furniture that had made it over during the move; most of it she had had to get rid of as there had been no more room. ''I'm going to meet Marc for lunch.'' Marc had moved into her apartment when she had moved in with Andy and she was excited to go back to her old neighborhood to see the people she had been used to seeing every day. ''Listen…''
''Hmm?''
''I know that we're having the big dinner here tonight, but I'd prefer to tell Marc during lunch, y'know, just the two of us.'' When she had gotten engaged to Jonas it had almost been nothing more than a sidenote to tell Marc, as if she had known deep down that she wasn't going to go through with the marriage anyway. But, this time she was actually excited, and she felt he deserved to be told one-on-one, the way they had been for most of his life even if nowadays she didn't get to see him as much as she wanted.
''Okay.''
''I just mean, for so long it was just him and me and-''
''Lu, I get it,'' Andy interrupted her, not the least bit surprised by what Lu was telling her, ''you two are very close and you're his mom, you should be able to tell him how you want to.'' She gave a slight nod and Lu seemed to accept her answer. Andy could feel Lu's eyes on her as she took off her pajama top and started changing into her day clothes. ''So… I talked to Milo about… your idea.''
Lu perked up a bit, snapped out of her simple mindless staring at Andy. ''What'd he say?''
''He's not a fan but he said he'd think about it,'' Andy said, hoping that Milo would actually seriously think about instead of writing the idea off and simply never bringing it up again because it made him uncomfortable to do so. Andy hesitated, knowing that there was a 50/50 change Lu was absolutely going to hate what she was going to say next, ''he did however have another idea.''
''Yeah?'' Lu frowned; she was almost too familiar with how Milo's mind worked when it came to sex at this point and dreaded what was coming.
''I have told you about what I once did with Nick and Peter, right?'' Andy asked, almost shrinking down a bit as she slipped on her maternity jeans. She was halfway through her pregnancy and it was showing quite clearly, the two babies growing quickly even though the smaller one was still lagging behind.
''For real?'' Lu remembered very clearly when Andy had told her about that night, it had been pretty hot to her even though now the memory was tainted by the knowledge that that had been with Nick who, even though she had made strides towards forgiving him, still made her uneasy. ''Is that something that you want?''
''I told him I'd talk to you about it if he were to agree on the other thing,'' Andy said, trying to be as transparent as possible. She knew she had been lacking in the communication department when it came to Lu and felt that especially when it came to matters to do with all three of them she should make an effort to be even clearer and leave nothing out.
''So, you do want to?'' Lu asked skeptically. It ticked her off just a little bit that she would just be doing this so that Milo would agree to the other act which, though it had been Lu's idea, she would get nothing out of except possibly Andy recounting the experience to her later.
''Could be nice,'' Andy shrugged, knowing that her asking Lu to do this when she and Milo were in conflict with each other might not be taken well by Lu. Lu gave no clear nonverbal answer, ''but only if you want to.'' Though Lu sometimes tried to hide her feelings Andy knew that if she felt any kind of hesitation coming from her she could just decide to call the whole thing off, ''I know you're not always Milo's biggest fan and I completely understand if you don't want to-''
''I'll talk to Milo about it.'' Lu said, putting her elbows on the vanity behind her and leaning back against the hard wood, watching Andy's reaction.
''You will?'' Andy wasn't sure what to say. She had slipped into the role of mediator between her two partners and wasn't sure how she felt about being kept out of the loop when it came to… anything, really.
''I'll let you know what we can agree on.'' Lu said, turning back to the mirror on the vanity to finish applying her makeup.
''Wow, what's going on?'' Lana asked, nearly losing her balance as Lu took her by the arm and dragged her with her. ''Where ya taking Lana?''
''I have something to show you,'' Lu said, unable to contain her excitement.
It had been a nice lunch and dinner the previous day. Marc had been surprised as he knew Andy and Milo were married and didn't expect Lu and Andy to get married, but got on board with his mother's excitement and promised to go to their wedding instantly. Dinner had been… interesting. Les had joined them for a family dinner which felt very necessary since Jesse had come down from college to join them and neither Andy nor Les wanted to miss out on spending time with her. It had been a little uncomfortable but he had congratulated them and it had seemed genuine enough.
Now though, it was finally time to tell her best friend, one of the few people that had been in her life for many years and had been there through thick and thin, and Lu couldn't wait.
Closing the door to her office behind her Lu turned to Lana, holding up her hand with the ring on it.
Lana grabbed her hand, admiring the ring. ''Is that a-''
''Andy asked me to marry her,'' Lu interrupted her. She wasn't the girliest of girls but couldn't contain her excitement over getting engaged, ''this past weekend, it was our anniversary-''
''Of?'' Lana couldn't help but wonder, knowing of about a half a dozen different stages Andy and Lu's relationship had gone through over the years from not being able to agree on anything to becoming friends, becoming friends with benefits, exes, and now… engaged to be married and expecting parents, apparently. It was hard to keep up.
''Our first official date,'' and the end of her relationship with Jonas which for Lu made it really the start of her relationship with Andy. She recounted the story to Lana, beaming the entire way through. It had been simplistic which worked perfectly for her.
''Congrats, kid,'' Lana said, throwing her arms around Lu.
''Anyway, we haven't decided anything yet, no date or location or anything,'' Lu said, pulling away slightly but close to her best friend, ''but I wanted to ask you something,'' her eyes misted a little bit but she simply blinked it away, not wanting to get too emotional, ''obviously we won't be getting married officially so I don't need witnesses or anything like that, but I was wondering if you'd like to be my maid of honor.''
''Me?'' Lana asked, feeling touched. She had been expecting this moment when Lu had gotten engaged to Jonas but it had never come. No emotions, no asking Lana to be her maid-of-honor, no wedding planning whatsoever as far as Lana was aware.
''You've been there for me through…'' Lu took a deep breath, thinking back on their many years of friendship, ''everything, really – bad boyfriends, financial struggles, personal issues, and you have supported me and Andy's relationship from the start,'' that was what had touched her the most. Nobody close to her had really reacted overly negative to their relationship but Lana had supported them unquestionably from the very beginning, ''there's literally no one else I would want.''
''You better stop or I'mma start crying,'' Lana said, smiling broadly even as her eyes glistened.
''So, will you?'' Lu asked.
''Anything for you.''
Milo closed his eyes for a second as his head rested on the soft pillow. He was laying on their bed, on his belly, Andy sitting on his lower back as she rubbed lotion into his back. They had just showered together and between washing each other and making out as well as the massage now he felt totally relaxed. It was exactly what he needed after the hours long surgery he had performed that day.
It had been a long couple of days for him between the many patients and surgery. It had barely given him time to think about his conversation with Andy he had had the previous Sunday morning, even though it had been in the back of his mind all that time. And now he couldn't believe what he was about to say.
''I think we should do it,'' he said, quietly.
''Do what?'' Andy asked, honestly confused as they had been silent for several minutes. She had been so focused on kneading out the knots in his back and moisturizing his skin that she wondered if she had missed anything else he might've said.
''The thing,'' Milo said, knowing that didn't clarify anything. He knew it wasn't a good sign that he didn't want to talk about it more specifically, ''the thing that we talked about Sunday.''
''You mean the-''
''Yes,'' Milo said, ''the you… fucking me up the ass.'' He buried his face in the pillow, not wanting to show his embarrassment even though he knew Andy would never judge him.
Andy chuckled slightly at his crass wording; it was very out of character for him but she was glad at the clarification. ''What made you change your mind?'' It wasn't until his agreement just now that she realized how much she had been expecting him to just say no.
Milo wasn't even 100% sure what had done it; maybe it was just that the constant thinking about it had normalized the idea for him. ''We have tried a lot of things I wanted to do, I guess I can try this for you once,'' that was the plan: have it be just one single time so he could say that he had tried it, and then hopefully never have to do it again.
''Okay,'' Andy said, smiling as she laid down next to him, kissing him.
''Does it have to be a big one?'' Milo asked, knowing that the dildo Lu had bought was close to his own size which, even though not an extraordinary size, felt way too big for him – although in all fairness, any size felt too big to put up there.
''We can get a small one,'' Andy said laughing, holding up her pinky finger which she figured was about the size Milo would agree to.
Milo grabbed her hand, ''don't laugh at me.''
Andy fell silent, ''I'm not laughing at you,'' she said, wondering why he would ever think that. ''I'm laughing at… the situation,'' it wasn't a great explanation but it felt better than not saying anything at all, ''and I am just glad you said you wanted to.''
''Hmm.''
''Are you okay?'' Andy asked, feeling a sudden distance between them.
''Yeah,'' Milo said, slipping out of bed. He grabbed some of his clothing, slipping on a pair of boxers short and t-shirt, ''I'm just going to get something to drink.''
Andy frowned as she watched him leave. His reaction had startled her and she was wondering if he really was okay with going through with it.
It looked like Lana was taking her maid-of-honor duties serious from the start. Within the week she had been able to organize an engagement party for Andy and Lu. It was their friends – and Milo and Lizzy, Jesse had already gone back to her dorm – as well as nurses and other doctors they frequently worked with and though neither Andy nor Lu had made a big deal out of announcing their engagement or even just their relationship, they were both glad to have support from so many of the people around them.
Both of them, as well as Milo, were always prepared for disapproving looks and comments whenever anyone found out about their relationship. If it wasn't for the multiple relationships Andy had it was for the fact that she and Lu were both women, if it wasn't because of that it was because of the interracial aspect of both relationships.
To just be able to celebrate and not have to worry about overhearing ugly comments, it was a relief to them. It almost felt too good to be true.
Lu could feel a chill run down her spine when she saw who had walked in out of the corner of her eye. Nick. She grabbed Andy's arm, knowing that she was most likely behind this. It was hard enough to see him at work, to have to work with him on patients, though she was getting better at it he was still just about the last person she wanted to see at her engagement party. ''What's he doing here?'' She asked, pulling Andy close.
Andy hesitated for a second, ''did you tell Lana…'' There was very little doubt in her mind that Lana had no idea about what had occurred between the three of them as Lu barely even wanted to talk about it with her, let alone anyone else.
''No.''
''Well, there's your answer.'' Lana had no reason to not invite him. She saw Nick walking over to them and prayed that he would breeze past them to get a drink. Her arm was around Lu's waist, trying to keep her from storming off though she had every right to, as he came to a standstill in front of them. ''Hi.''
Nick had rarely felt this uncomfortable. Even despite the daggers being thrown at him by Lu he still felt affection for the couple and he only wished he could just congratulate them and move on, ''hi.'' His eyes landed on Lu who remained quiet. ''I'm sorry if my being here makes you uncomfortable… I probably would have had to explain to Lana why I couldn't be here, this seemed like the lesser of two evils.''
''Nick!''
Andy's gaze shifted at the guy walking up to them; a bit shorter than Nick, a sparkle in his eye as he looked up at him, dressed up in a suit. She looked at Nick questioningly, wondering if he had finally gotten over his feelings for Peter and had moved on, just not with the girl Peter had promised her to set Nick up with.
Nick felt so nervous he felt like he might throw up. So far the only person who was aware of his attraction to men was Andy, he had no idea how Lu was going to react. Even despite the odds of her having any kind of negative opinion on it being pretty low it was still nerve-wracking. ''Lu, Andy,'' he swallowed hard, ''I'd like you to meet my date, William.''
The introduction between William and Andy was rather brief but Lu stood like a statue, eyeing him with her arms wrapped around herself.
William shifted his focus from Andy to Lu, holding out his hand to her, ''nice to meet you, doctor…?''
When Lu didn't immediately respond Andy answered for her, one arm around her partner. ''Lu.'' It was what she had always insisted everybody call her.
''Dr. Lu?'' William asked, putting his hand back in his pocket, everything about her demeanor making it clear that she had no interest in shaking his hand.
''Dr. Delgado is fine,'' Lu finally responded, giving Andy a quick glance before she feigned a smile and looked back at the couple in front of her. She was dumbstruck. After years of watching Nick chasing tail and worrying about his possible attraction to Andy this was the last thing she had expected from him – and the best engagement present he could have ever given her.
William hesitated for a second, surprised by her sharp tone. ''Alright, Dr. Delgado,'' he gave a slight nod and grabbed Nick's hand, ''congrats on the engagement.'' He could feel her coldness towards him and was confused by it. He couldn't wait to get Nick alone to question him about it. He gave Andy and Lu a slight nod before walking away to get a drink, hand in hand with his boyfriend.
Lu's eyes followed them as they walked off before turning her attention back to Andy, surprised by the lack of surprise on her face. ''Why aren't you more surprised by this?'' She asked in a hushed tone, not needing everyone to overhear them.
''Well, Dr. Delgado,'' she knew that Lu hadn't entirely gotten over what had happened but Andy had been surprised by that part, ''he did tell me certain things while… you know.'' Though Lu knew about the friends-with-benefits situation she had had with Nick she didn't really want to bring it up too much – it was easier just to trail off.
''Why didn't you tell me?'' Lu asked. It would've been a lot easier to get past it if she had known that Nick fancied guys and wasn't a problem.
''It wasn't my place to tell,'' Andy said. With how secretive their relationship had been in the past she hadn't expected to have to explain this to Lu. ''I wasn't about to oust him before he was ready for that.'' It had been bad enough when people had caught her and Lu and news had gotten out before she was ready to share.
''Not even to me?'' Lu could understand where Andy was coming from but she had shared so much from her relationship with Nick that she didn't expect her to keep this kind of information a secret.
''How would you have felt if someone had outed us before we were ready to talk about it?'' Andy asked. ''Besides, what difference does it make? Just because he is into men does not mean that he isn't into women.''
Lu bit her lip. While before her relationship with Andy she had always had feelings for men that had died down a lot since they had gotten together and she hadn't realized it might not be the same way for Nick. She took a deep breath and leaned into Andy's side, ''we did kinda get outed though, by whoever walked by your office that first night.''
''Yeah, and I hated it,'' Andy said. She thought back to that time years ago, the jokes – mostly coming from Nick – about that night. It had all been in jest and not meant to be taken seriously, but she hadn't exactly enjoyed the jokes anyway.
''So, Nick just one day told you 'hey I like guys'?'' Lu asked, wanting to change the subject and not have Andy dwell on that time.
It had been a guess. After the three of them had been together she had sensed that Nick maybe felt a bit more than Peter did, which was how she had gotten him to admit that he did have feelings for the handsome nurse. But she couldn't very well tell Lu that. ''Let's just say it was a longer conversation than that,'' Andy said, hoping that Lu wouldn't enquire further. ''Come on, let's go see if they have any alcohol-free champagne.''
There had been a few toasts, some dancing, and after a couple of hours the party was dying down. When Lu found Milo sitting alone in the corner – watching Andy and Lizzy dancing together – she figured it was as good a time as any to have the conversation she had been putting off.
''Andy told me about your idea,'' she said, pulling up a chair and sitting down next to him, backwards with her arms resting on top of the backrest. She could see that he didn't know what she was talking about, ''of us three? With the strap-on and me and you, and her obviously.''
''She did?'' Milo couldn't hide his surprise; he wasn't used to Lu coming to him to talk about… pretty much anything really. ''She told me she wasn't going to until after she and I-''
''She wanted to give me time to think about it.'' Lu said as explanation, she didn't actually know but it seemed like the likely conclusion. ''I'll agree to it,'' she said, feeling nervous and excited already, ''but I have some conditions.''
''Which would be?''
''First,'' Lu took a deep breath, knowing that he wasn't likely to agree but god did she want him to. ''I want to watch you and her.'' She held her breath as he was quiet, judging by his facial expression he was going through several different emotions, ultimately ending somewhat in denial.
''When…?''
''When she uses a strap-on on you,'' Lu said, ''I don't want to participate and you'll probably hardly notice I'm there-''
''I'll notice.'' Milo said curtly, confused by the request.
''Still.''
''Why?'' He asked, frowning, ''why would you want to watch that?'' He might've agreed to it but even he didn't want to watch it, why Lu wanted to was beyond him. He knew that despite their disagreements he could trust her but he was already uncomfortable enough with the whole thing that including her in it in any way just felt out of the question.
Lu didn't answer him. She didn't know how. All she knew was that she wanted to, badly. ''My other conditions have to do with the threesome,'' she continued, ''considering the position we'll be in we'll probably be in contact more than we usually are, but that doesn't mean you can just touch me,'' the last thing she wanted was for it to in any way, shape, or form resemble what had happened with Nick, ''it's you and Andy and me and Andy, just happening at the same time, nothing between us.''
''No unnecessary contact, got it,'' Milo said, yawning, ''anything else?''
''Not right now.''
