It'd been two weeks since Aizawa made the announcement and a week since their qualification battle with class 3B. It was all thanks to Shinsou that they were able to win and get to participate in the race, if not they would've gotten beat by their rivaling class and watched them go to the race instead with teary eyes. They made sure to let class B know that they harbored no ill feelings towards them whatsoever.
Anyway, they'd prepared and were now on their way to the starting point with a bus they took from school however, instead of their homeroom teacher accompanying them in the bus, a strange middle aged man clad in a dark suit and wearing glass was the one who organized them into the ride. He didn't even speak to them once and was looking ever so serious; constantly tapping away on his tablet and as a result, made their ride was awkwardly quiet. They were so unfamiliar with him and plus, his aura was too unwelcoming for them to even try.
"Uh…so where's Aizawa-Sensei?" Sato asked uneasily.
"I heard he went on ahead of us to Tokyo." Shinsou answered and Kaminari gasped.
"He didn't even see us off or tell us he was leaving?!"
"Give the man a break, Kaminari he deserves to be away from us even if it's a while."
"You say it like we're such pains in the ass." Kaminari pouted earning a sigh from Shinsou who crossed his arms and leaned back in his seat. "Cuz we are pains in the ass."
"Midoriya-chan, are you okay?" Asui asked her fellow green haired friend who had been out of it since they got on the bus. He blinked out of his trance. "What? Oh yeah, I'm fine."
"You don't seem fine." Uraraka said giving him a look of concern.
"You've been awfully quiet since we left, are you sure you are okay?" Iida asked.
"Guys, I'm fine." He chuckled at their huge petting.
"The damn nerd's probably overthinking, as usual."
"I'm not overthinking, Kacchan. I'd be a mumbling mess if I was." Izuku quipped.
"Whatever but if you're thinking, think of how we're gonna win."
"Bakubro's right, Midoriya," Kirishima popped up from behind and playfully ruffled through
Izuku's curly locks. "Let's get that huge manly brain thinking for a win!"
All Izuku could do was swat at Kirishima while laughing along with his classmates throughout the bus ride.
The bus drove down a path until all they could see were trees and other vegetation, they'd finally reached their destination. Students from other schools were already assembled there at the starting point sparing class 3A their attention as they nervously filed out of the bus. "This can't everyone, right?" Ojiro asked scrutinizing the number of people present given that this was an activity were all powered beings in Tokyo were to participate.
"No they aren't," the bespectacled man finally spoke, startling the students a little. He ignored their reaction and continued anyway while adjusting his glasses. "These are the participants present in Musutafu; others are arranged in different prefectures of Tokyo. Those already living in Tokyo are posted to Shibuya's starting line."
"Oh, I see…" Ojiro replied.
"Welcome contestants!" A large man in a black suit like the bespectacled guy greeted the students. "To the start of Japan's first Inter-school activity meaning all powered schools in Tokyo and Japan at large participate and as a result, only six schools will be victors of this race. To add to that, only one school in all of Musutafu will prevail."
"Now I will lay down the rules which are very few –three of them to be precise; Rule one is simple, run this race using the checkpoints and racecourses we'll give to you on your holomaps (A bracelet with detectors and a holographic map). Do not take routes unmarked or unrecognized by the maps or you will be disqualified. Rule two; every school should have a flag bearer. I'll explain; a flag bearer is someone who represents the school in the finish line meaning if that person doesn't cross the finish line and hangs the flag, the school has not passed yet. You're going to choose among yourselves, your flag bearer. Be sure to make good choices as you cannot make any changes once the race starts. After choosing your flag bearer, they will be announced for other contestants to see."
"But why," Mineta asked as murmurs erupted in the crowd. "I thought this type of stuff was supposed to be a secret?"
"I don't know, maybe they're trying to make things fair?" Shoji surmised with a shrug.
"Or maybe it's all part of the game." Todoroki concluded with narrowed eyes. "It'd be way too easy if no one knew our flag bearer."
"Yeah, I guess." Sero agreed and Aoyama sighed dramatically.
"This is most troublesome indeed."
"But what would being aware of our flag bearer cause anyway?" Asui asked thoughtfully and Izuku donned a pensive look.
"If my instincts are correct, this isn't just any ordinary race."
"And now, the third and final rule;" The moderator continued getting back the students' attention. "Impeding the other contestants…is allowed."
"Hah?!" The students exclaimed and Izuku clenched his teeth.
I knew it! He thought. He'd expected this and it'd been what he was ruminating on back on their ride here. This was supposed to be a race for powered beings so why the hell would it be a normal cross country race?
"This isn't an ordinary race." The moderator said. "It's more of a survival race. 'Win by any means necessary' but in no way should you kill any contestant or incur life threatening wounds. Do that and you'll be disqualified. Also if you give up, you're disqualified, make sure to pick a strong flag bearer. That is all."
Yaoyorozu heaved a sigh. "I estimated this."
"What about obstacles like the giant robots in the sports festival?" Kaminari asked.
"Well there's that too."
"Guess this is what you'd expect from sports like these." Kirishima shrugged.
Class 3A gathered round to form a strategy and appoint their flag bearer. Iida sat on the grass deep in his thoughts with his gloved hand wrapped round his chin. His helmet was left open so his classmates could see how hard he was thinking, eyes squeezed tight and brows knitted. After what felt like hours, Iida heaved a sigh and finally opened his eyes.
"I've come to a conclusion." He announced. "Our flag bearer…" his steel blue eyes danced across many faces 'til they eventually landed on Izuku's. "…is you Midoriya."
The greenette blinked once, twice then pointed to himself, "Huh, me?
"Yes."
"But why me; you're fast, speed is your specialty."
"Yeah dude, you'd just breeze right through them." Kirishima agreed.
"I may be fast, but of recent, Izuku has become faster and has a better chance of getting to Tokyo quicker but that's not what I'm after. Listen to what Yaoyorozu-san has to say."
"From my observations, we're not all getting targeted. The target, after all will be you, the flag bearer, Midoriya-san." Yaoyorozu said and Izuku gulped. "All form of aggression from the other schools will go to you and so after reviewing every possible outcome, I realized that speed isn't really going to help since there are traps that can't be avoided with just speed especially since our opponents have done their research on us. Having said that, speed isn't a complete option but it is necessary."
"So what do we need aside from speed?" Jirou asked. "We need a handful of abilities that – fortunately for us- Midoriya-san possesses. These abilities will help him escape tough situations and traps," she took a pause and sighed leaning her head to the side with a forlorn expression. "And yet that still wouldn't do."
"Hah?!" Her classmates exclaimed in disbelief.
"Our opponents would have done a lot of research –plus, Midoriya-San's pretty popular and a lot would have been planned for him…so I thought that our flag bearer should have a bodyguard and that should be Bakugo-san."
"Sure, if there's anyone who can keep up with Midoriya its Bakubro." Kirishima nudged Bakugo in the shoulder. The blonde just clicked his tongue and looked away.
"Let's just get this over with and not let Aizawa-sensei down. And come out on top!"
"Yeah!"
"That's right!" Everyone cheered feeling excited to race with the other schools now.
The sun came down heavy in Konoha making the atmosphere of the small town more humid than usual. Shikamaru Nara was one of the people who hated it, unlike the rest who'd find an excuse to eat more frozen snacks or wear skimpier clothes. All he wanted to do was watch some clouds and not even one was in sight. What's more is this cross country race; how the hell were they supposed to run in this heat? He kept his scowl on his face and anyone who'd see him knew he was very unhappy with the situation.
"You look even more banged up than usual." The dark ponytail didn't bother to look at the speaker to know who it was. He sighed letting his shoulders slump more and his arms rest on his thighs as he squatted there.
"Today's not favorable for this."
"Ah, don't say that, every day's favorable if you make it so, ya know."
"Either you're delusional or you just don't feel this heat." He bemoaned and rubbed the back of his neck; Naruto could be such a ray of sunshine that it hurt to look at him sometimes. "You're a drag like everyone else." He drawled while his blonde friend chuckled.
"There's really no need for you to start now." He had said later on and Naruto raised an amused brow.
"Why, do you pity our opponents?" Shikamaru released an exasperated groan.
"At least give them a head start."
"C'mon Shika, if I give them a head start then I'm just mocking their effort, ya know besides," he pointed his thumb to himself. "I'm Konoha high's flag bearer." Shikamaru all but stared deadpan at the blonde's grin.
"I figured you'd say that." There was just no stopping Naruto when he wanted to do something. "But okay… I see your point."
"Oi Naruto-baka!" A pink haired girl screeched holding a forest green flag which she hurled at the blue eyed blonde. "I can't believe you forgot that!"
"Sorry Sakura-chan." He grinned sheepishly.
"Would sorry win the race!?"
"Calm down Sakura." A dark haired guy pacified the pinkette. "And Naruto shouldn't you have been gone by now?"
"Gone, how?"
"That race started a minute ago, moron." Naruto's eyes widened in pure shock as he confirmed what Sasuke had said to be true; the start line was empty.
"Well damn…I didn't even notice," He tied the flag to his forehead then crouched into a starter position. "I went ahead and gave them a head start anyway." He was gone right after that leaving them to stare at the dust he left behind
"And there he goes…" Shikamaru said as he stood to his feet. "We should be going too." Lee suggested as the class began to progress forward while Shikamaru stayed down. "Nah, I'll just walk." He drawled. I mean as long as Naruto gets there on time, we win.
In Musutafu, the race started with the contestants going into frenzy but it was obvious who their attacks were aimed at. Kaminari was nearly hit by a flying saucer but Sato used his strong body to shield him, Kirishima and Sato subsequently became body shields while Bakugo cleared the way for Izuku to finally make his move. Using Black whip and Float, he uprooted some huge trees around and once his classmates had gone through, he went ahead to block their opponents' path with the trees.
"That's Deku, UA's number one student!" some of them cried in agitated tones at the sight of him. Izuku stared down at their opponents blankly as they struggled to escape the log blockage he had made while Bakugo snickered wickedly.
"Playing dirty –I'm starting to like you a little." He smirked and Izuku went deadpan.
"Please don't make this weird."
"Bakugo, Midoriya-Kun!" Iida called their attention from below. He smiled when both looked and gave them a thumb up. "Go on, we're right behind you!"
"Sure thing, four eyes!" Bakugo hollered as he and Izuku flew off. Iida turned to their trapped opponents who were furiously making their way up the pile of logs.
"Damn those UA fucks!" one cried out of pure rage and Iida took this as their cue to clear out. Just like Yaoyorozu had estimated, there were transportation quirk users but he wasn't seeing any action from them, meaning Shinsou had done his part well.
FLASH BACK
"We must also be aware that there is a high chance that we'd have transportation quirk users among our opponents."
"You're right, I didn't even think of that." Kaminari said knitting his brows in thought. "So what do we do?"
"Guess we'll just have to find them before the race starts and disqualify them when it does." Shinsou suggested.
"That's a good idea, but how will we know if they have that quirk?" Asui asked Shinsou who smirked and tapped on his voice changer. "They fall for this so easily –never gets old."
FLASH BACK END
The sky and forest had gotten too dark to keep moving so class A set camp while Iida kept watch. "How did quirk hunting go?" he asked Shinsou on a tree, the purple head took off his mouth gear.
"Yaoyorozu and I got the lot of them –about two." He answered and then narrowed his eyes. "But there was this one, though. He got his classmates to escape."
"Escape how?"
"He's a portal user." Iida's eyes widened. "Is he with us?"
"Yeah."
Izuku and Bakugo journeyed through the night despite the darkness and as they advanced forward, they sensed their opponents tailing them. In an attempt to shake them off, they split up confusing their stalkers and then attacked from behind.
"You guys have some nerve comin' after us without a plan!" Bakugo yelled and shot a barrage at their opponents who tried to find coverage in the trees. These guys are crazy for letting us fight in the forest. He thought, oddly concerned about the trees they had destroyed.
One of their stalkers revealed herself and skillfully threw what seemed to be a bomb at Bakugo. Instinctively, Deku used Black whip to swat it away but then a huge guy who was the second stalker appeared right behind him and attempted a blow. He must have considered this a win until Izuku sent a dangerous look his way.
How did he…?
Danger sense…
Black tendrils emerged from his back and caught his attacker hostage. "Izuku Midoriya…UA's number one," Izuku glanced back at the girl on hearing his name. He stared into her eyes with a pensive look wondering who she was. "I've wanted to meet you for a while now." She said with a smirk and snapped her finger. He didn't know how it happened but suddenly, he blacked out.
Shinsou and Iida walked a little distance ahead until they met with the rest of the class at camp. Laying hostage with them was the portal user. "That's him." Shinsou directed Iida. "We caught him leading his classmates -three of them- into a portal; one of them was the flag bearer."
"They must be close to the finish line by now."
"Fortunately for us," Shinsou took a look at the device on his wrist and held it up for Iida to see. "They aren't even close and are being held back. Plus, portal users can only transport to places they've already been to or are aware of. Isn't that right, buddy?" He asked their captive impassively.
"Just let me off these ropes and I'll-"
"You'll what," Shinsou cut him off with a bored look. "Transport my ass to the desert?"
"You know that's not such a fuckin' bad idea." Portal user seethed literally baring his teeth at them until he met both Todoroki and Shinsou's cold gazes up close.
"Kenzo Shimura, right? You're gonna tell us your whole plan." Todoroki said squatting in front of him beside Shinsou. Shimura huffed.
"Cocky of you to think I'd tell you a thing-" he stopped when Shinsou released an exasperated groan.
"Look, you're already disqualified, you're held hostage by your opponents and now your classmates are in a stalemate with ours. I don't wanna have to use my quirk so let's just get this over with."
"Fine," Shimura sighed. "But even though I tell you, it'll be much too late for your classmates." Iida's eyes narrowed.
"What do you mean?" If their opponents had done research on Izuku and Bakugo, then they should know they're a force to be reckoned with but the way Shimura spoke with so much confidence was a concern.
"They say the mind is a powerhouse, tamper with it and you have the body hostage."
"Stop beating around the damn bush and explain this!" Todoroki seethed his rage evident on his igniting left side.
"Your friends are up against Mia Akira and Shiba Sano; you may not know Mia but I'm sure the name Shiba Sano rings a bell." Yaoyorozu and Todoroki shared a look of surprise.
"He took part in recommendation tests," Yaoyorozu said. "He was going to attend UA through recommendation, but he rejected the offer."
"Just like that tornado dude from Shiketsu?" Kirishima asked Todoroki who affirmed with a nod.
"Ah."
"Sano sensed that UA was not a fit hero school and left. UA only produces monsters and greedy people such as the likes of Endeavor." Shimura said. "Sano wishes to create a brand new hero society where there are only pure true heroes, and I am a follower of that dream."
Once Izuku went to sleep, the black tendrils that held Sano captive released their hold and faded away. Sano rounded his shoulders in relief and stretched his neck. "Those were really tough to get out of, he must have been really angry."
Yes, Sano had done his thorough research on Izuku especially. He knew about his multiple quirks, their strengths and weaknesses. The black whip held a particular interest to him as its tendrils act on the emotion of its wielder –anger to be precise.
"I must have struck a nerve when I tried to attack his friend." Mia said and Sano scoffed. "He may have been powerful enough to take Tomura Shigaraki down but he doesn't stand a chance against your quirk, Mia. Show him that he can never be All Might."
"Rodger," Mia nodded with a determined look. "Our role here is to hold them back while our flag bearer progresses and wins this race but... this is truly for the sake of our hero society…"
"I will do same with Katsuki Bakugo." He stared down at Bakugo who was also unconscious for a few moments before shifting his gaze back to her. "You know what to do." Mia approached both and closed her eyes as she stood between them. Then, with one last look into Sano's eyes, he was knocked unconscious prompting her to touch he and Bakugo's foreheads. A unique glow appeared where she touched for a few seconds before disappearing and she sighed.
"Now…" she turned to Izuku. "It's his turn."
Green eyes snapped open and blinked before going wide. Izuku jerked to his feet not minding that he was engulfed in darkness. The last thing he remembered was fighting and looking into this girl's eyes before blacking out.
What was she even saying again? Oh, she attacked Kacchan…but I didn't see him again after that…oh no! Where's Kacchan!?
"Kacchan! Kacchan!" He called out but it all disappeared in the darkness.
"Your friend's gone now…" A giggle echoed in the darkness.
"Who are you?!"
"Who I am doesn't matter, Midoriya-kun." He heard the girl say in a perky tone. He couldn't see her –yes- but he could feel her presence and that was really disturbing because she was right behind him and very close; practically breathing down on his neck. But, since he could sense her like that, he was sure he could… He grabbed a hand behind him and threw his stalker down in front of him confirming it was a girl. "Where's Kacchan?"
All he got in response was another round of giggles and then the girl molted from his grip astonishing Izuku.
"What?..."
Meanwhile, Bakugo rained attacks on his opponent who seemed unfazed, infuriated, he released a barrage of explosions however his opponent emerged from the smoke intact.
"Fuck this!"
"As the highly praised Dynamight would say." Sano said with an ugly grin. Bakugo gave him a once over for the first time.
"The fuck am I speaking to?"
"It's an honor that my name is requested of by such a renowned hero student as Katsuki Bakugo himself. I am Shiba Sano but I go by Shibano for my hero studies." He answered with a proud look however; Bakugo didn't find it as creative as he did. His face twisted in a slight grimace.
"Your hero name is ass –work on it." Sano seemed a bit embarrassed by that fact but he wasn't given the time to react as in a split second, Bakugo was already at his face leaving a blast of explosions behind. He went for a swift left hook seeing as he had caught Sano lacking but it was easily blocked.
"So fast." Sano said in sarcastic fascination.
"Tch." Bakugo rebounded and struck again.
I'm lacking speed! He silently observed. And what the heck is this guy? My kicks and punches don't phase 'im, not even to talk of explosions. Dammit! He leapt back to safety and gave Sano a meaningful gaze. The red head chuckled.
"I've been blessed with an indestructible body before my quirk manifested. I come from a long family line of martial artists were the Iron Monkey is our deity." He explained doing an iron monkey pose.
"Well that explains a whole fuckin' lot." Sano laughed at this and raised his shirt revealing a huge scar.
"I'm not about to overestimate my durability, though. I can only take so much hits and I can take your level of explosions with no problem whatsoever."
"What the hell do you mean?"
"Take a good look around you Bakugo-san." Bakugo did as he was told and realized that all this time, he was in a freaking freezing room. Shit! No wonder my explosions were lacking!
"You've figured it out? Good. One of my training rituals from childhood for my superhuman durability was to stay in harsh weather conditions –this is nothing. You seem fine with it too however it's affecting your quirk which requires sweat." He smirked at Bakugo's ticked off expression. "You realize I have you cornered."
"Shut up." Bakugo snapped. "I haven't decided if I'm cornered just yet." Sano snickered at this and his lips pulled up into that same ugly grin.
"As arrogant as I've heard!"
The fight between Izuku and this girl was going nowhere as it felt like he was fighting a mirage. Her giggles were even more annoying than the situations; he swore that if he found her real body, he was going to strangle her 'til she died-
Calm down, no negative thoughts.
All he saw was a dark endless void making it seem so hopeless but Izuku never gives up- that's who he is. As long as he could still feel her presence, he could locate her original amongst the mirages if he just concentrated well enough to block out her giggles. That way, he was sure he could break her quirk's hold on him.
Just find it, find the main core…
With apt focus, he released a Black whip tendril searching and searching until…he found her and snatched her throat.
Okay, he'd been thinking about this for too long!
What, he found me? Impossible!
Now all I have to do is make her release the quir- He stopped mid thought once he saw her sinister smile.
"You're a shrewd one, aren't you?" she asked him and the ground beneath him gave a way. Suddenly, there was light which came as a sting to Izuku who had been – in the dark for a while. Boulders came tumbling towards him next and fortunately for him, he'd dodged them in time before he could get crushed. Looking up, he realized that he was at the bottom of a mountain.
What...
"How…how the hell did I get here?" he asked himself as he explored his surroundings with his eyes. Is her quirk transportation?
"No, my quirk lets me penetrate my target's mind and do whatever I want with it." Izuku turned to see an attractive curvaceous brunette who winked at him. "You were smart enough to find one weakness but I'm not about to let you do that again so…" she snapped her fingers and more began to fall.
Bakugo was still going strong, or at least trying because this annoying prick was just eating his explosions and loving it like he was some mentally retarded masochist. Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! He'd never admit this guy was stronger than him, not in a million fuckin' years because he wasn't! He had to pull off this whole freezing room trick to have him cornered; he was testing his damn patience.
"As much as I admire you, I want to use you as an example, Bakugo-san." Sano said with a sadistic smile. "You see, you'd make a very good scapegoat for what I'm about to tell the hero society. That UA is not a fit hero school and should be demolished." Bakugo could not believe his ears. What the…did this dude just… His muscles bulged out accompanied by veins as he seethed with rage.
"Just who the fuck do you think you are, dammit!?"
"I'm a realist; I like to see things from the inward view and I act on my ideals. Bakugo-san, the reason I admire you is because you are the only UA student I've seen who actually follows in the legendary All Might's footsteps. However, your classmates don't have your grandeur; it's quite unfortunate that all they care about is women, fame, money, power and status. They are not like you."
"Then why use me as your freakin' Guinea pig?" At this Sano grinned that ugly grin that made Bakugo's blood boil. He raised his hands and looked up to the ceiling like he was awed by it and released a shrill laugh.
"Because you, Bakugo-san are like a role model to all upcoming heroes, no one in UA is as important are! So if I can humiliate you for all to see, I have a voice!" Bakugo was truly…pissed; fuck the rules, this guy was clearly a villain and he was going to kill him. With all the rage and anger burning within him he fired at Sano as hard as he could and hit him over and over again. All Sano did was laugh maniacally and Bakugo leapt away. The result was still same. Sano was unscathed.
"I don't fuckin' care about whatever the hell it is you have against UA but…" He sent Sano a feral gaze. "If you ever dream of humiliating me for your fucked up ideals, I'll kill you." That seemed to awaken something within Sano because he smirked.
"I haven't shown you my quirk yet, have I?"
"Whatever, I don't give a shit!" He blasted towards Sano who for the first time since their fight got into a fight stance. Just what was he going to pull? Bakugo asked himself as he neared the muscular hero student.
What was his quirk was it a power type…ah screw it, he didn't care anymore. Sano on the other hand with a placid expression raised a palm over the other and slammed them together with a powerful clap releasing an explosion even more powerful than Bakugo's currently. To say Bakugo was shocked was an understatement; he was appalled, stunned, awed, words couldn't properly describe what he felt as he got blown back and crashed into the wall. He didn't know how he was still alive but he was glad he was because he needed a fuckin' explanation!
"Shocked?" Came Sano's voice near him. Bakugo's eyes were shut at the moment but he could hear him crouch right by him. "I'm sure you're thinking 'how is my quirk the same with this guy?' well let me tell you, it's not the same." He smirked. "Another reason I admired you, Bakugo-san is the fact that our quirks have a bit of a similarity however, I can only release explosions when I'm hit for a considerable amount of times. Sad isn't it?"
No wonder he's got that indestructible body, so he can take all those hits… Bakugo will admit that he was impressed with Sano, he respected hard workers, people who trained to perfect their quirk to suit them however, he couldn't ignore the fact that Sano did not have the courage to face him head on. He placed a hand on his shoulder making him raise an inquisitive brow. Ruby eyes locked with onyx.
"Yeah, it's sad." The next thing that happened was an explosion and Sano flew out of the hole in the wall. Bakugo who had recovered walked out and stretched a lopsided smile on his face at Sano. The red head held on to his shoulder in pain from the burn and shot a furious gaze at Bakugo. The explosive blonde just chuckled.
"That hole you made…" he smirked. "Thanks for opening it up." Because of that hole that strangely didn't lead to the outside of this place or any way out, he was a bit warm again and bought some time talking to Sano. He was so smart he loved himself even more for it. Sano hissed from the pain and began to laugh despite it giving him such a terrifying aura.
"You're even craftier than I had imagined…so amazing, you hit my favored arm." He righted himself and raised his other hand. "But, you should have gone for my head." He snapped the finger and a huge explosion ensued.
What?!
"I can make explosions by making any movement; a finger snap, a nod of my head…even a walking step." Sano chuckled darkly. "Well that only happens if I get the right boost –kinetic storage is my quirk- and you just gave it to me."
Dammit… Bakugo mused but smiled anyway, at least they can start trading blows like equals, even though this room could be a problem.
"The thing about Mia's quirk is that she can manipulate her target into thinking the way she wants them to; if she wants you to drown, you drown. If it's burning, you burn to a crisp but it's all mental. Initially, she thought her quirk's limit was to make her target unconscious but after a few years of intense training, she realized that she could infiltrate their minds and also transport another into someone else's mind."
"Wow…" Ojiro muttered in wonder.
"That's a really powerful quirk." Tokoyami admitted.
"Oh, it is," Shimura said. "With Sano and his powerful quirk by her side, they will render hell to your friends. There is no escaping her quirk." He explained with a sinister smile enjoying the reactions he got from class 3A.
"Every quirk has a weakness, moron." Shinsou spoke up. "They're both gonna find that weakness, trust me."
"It's impossible to overpower Mia."
"Of course it is!" Ashido cried. "Bakugo's an elite student and so is Midoriya –they'd never give up!"
"Ashido's right!" Kirishima agreed and Shimura laughed. "I applaud your unshaking faith in your friends but they are no match for Mia's quirk. If they could merely fall for the trap activation which is to listen to her voice while looking in her eyes, then I'm sorry, your friends are not very sharp and it'll cause their downfall." Shimura said. "Mia is our key to overthrowing UA and all false heroes in our society."
"Jeez, you guys sound like the Nazis." Kaminari said honestly and Jirou sent him a surprised look. "You know who the Nazis are?" Kaminari huffed. "Of course I do they're…" while he gave Jirou a lecture on the history of the German army and the Arian race, Shinsou got back to Shimura.
"You're right, the mind is both a powerhouse and a weak point but not in Midoriya case –I know that firsthand." Shinsou heaved a sigh. "You really have no idea who you're up against."
"What the hell are you on about?" Shimura asked skeptically.
"Mind manipulation quirks have little to no effect on Midoriya." Shimura was completely stunned for a fraction of a second before he burst out laughing, so hard that he fell. "You say that, but he's battling with her in her mind prison as we speak! You must be clearly delusional to think that and I've told you, Mia's quirk is strong! "
"Sure it is, so is this one."
"What?" Shimura's eyes went white with unconsciousness and when he woke up, he found himself in front of the fire used for their little camp. He gasped in utter shock and confusion as he tripped and fell back on his bottom in fear as he was close to stepping into the fire. "W-What am I –how did I get here!?" Shinsou by his side smirked.
"Felt strange, huh?"
"What did you do to me?"
"Brainwash, that's my quirk; with it I can put your mind on full arrest and your body will be surrendered to me." He grimaced at how weird that came out. "That only happens if you respond to a statement I make."
"So you're saying I just obeyed what you told me to do mindlessly?"
"That's right; you went there because I told you to. So mindlessly obedient without any form of complain or resistance –almost like a robot." Shimura shuddered.
"You have a quirk that powerful, then how did Izuku Midoriya shake it off?"
"At first, he didn't know exactly when I asked him, but much later, he explained that inside of him, there are 'presences'. And these 'presences' help him in those kind of situations." Shinsou explained. "I never got it and I still don't but I know that if he's still trapped in her mind manipulation then he's doing it on purpose –probably trying to explore her quirk some more, that nerdy bastard."
All Izuku could do was run, no matter where he went, the chaos followed. The world would tilt on its axis or break and open up or melt into lava leaving him hanging for dear life. He couldn't count how many times he got hit by boulders or burnt; the pain he felt was so real. This quirk was so powerful and amazing; being able to manipulate one's mind into seeing or feeling what you want them to. He wished he had his notebook with him.
Mia's giggle echoed in his head again. "Had enough, almighty Deku?" she huffed. "I knew you UA students are just all talk."
"What's with you guys and UA students anyway, what did we ever do to you?"
"That's a good question, Izuku Midoriya. You see your school's entrance exam system was really unfair for my type of quirk. Students with quirks similar to mine couldn't get into hero course. I didn't get into a prestigious hero school because of that." Her lips then pulled in a wicked grin. "Now I'm gonna show you the pain of having your dreams crushed." The ground gave way again but this time, he fell into a pool full of electric eels and they shocked him mercilessly. His screams echoed in the mindscape while Mia reveled in it.
If I was transported here with a teleportation quirk, then we'd have been disqualified by now for leaving the racecourse, so that means we're still in the forest…
An exhausted Bakugo analyzed as he faced Sano. The room had gotten even colder and he wasn't able to perspire. A freezing room… done to limit my quirk…I knew it, this is mind manipulation! But this guy's a reflector so he can't do this, which means that chick…
"Well crap, I've stalled way too long."
"Stalled?" Sano raised a brow in confusion. "Elaborate."
"Don't give me orders, dick cheese." Sano frowned at that. "I said-" he was cut short as Bakugo successfully kneed him in the face it was Sano's turn to be appalled, Bakugo came again this time punching him down.
How is he packing greater power now? He thought and growled. Summoning some strength within him, he caught Bakugo by his wrist in attempt to smack him by the power of his explosions but Bakugo still had a lot of explosions left in stock that overpowered Sano and blasted him back.
His explosive power's increasing drastically, what went wrong, has he figured out the secret of this quirk?
"This…" Bakugo took of one gauntlet and hung on his shoulder. "…is a mind manipulation quirk." Sano's eyes widened as he gaped at Bakugo's palm which was drenched in sweat. "It's a really tricky quirk –I mean- I fell for it."
"So what if you know?" Sano seethed currently feeling insecure. "What if I know?"
Bakugo chuckled. "What kind of a fucked up question is that?" Then he put his gloves and gauntlet back on and tilted his head while looking as frightening as ever. "If I know then you're dead.""You're one to talk, my quirk acts on Kinetic energy storage. So you're the one who's dead!" he tried to convince both himself and Bakugo but the latter just resumed his beat down on him.
"Oh I'm aware." He said. "But tell me, just how much kinetic energy can you take into your body." His lips stretched into a devilish grin as Sano's eyes widened in dismay.
