Disclaimer: I don't own Danmachi and Bloodborne
"Just a simple quest y'know! Go in there, beat up some bad guys, solve the whole fire burning problem, and we can go and get a nice dinner after! Shouldn't take more than a day!"
"…I think she just cursed this whole mission." The black haired samurai sighs, unveiling her katana for a moment as she does some final inspections, the blade reflecting the rising colours of the dawn sunlight.
"…" The elf said nothing, but her rolling eyes showed enough, tucking her wooden blade on her belt.
"Hey c'mon you two! Lyra only abandoned us today cause she was building more weapons, we'll be fine! What's the worst that could happen?"
"…Cursed us I tell you."
"Agreed."
"Bah! Don't be so pessimistic you two!"
"You…" Alise couldn't form the words. "You wanted to… what?"
"Yep." Jack looked forward unflinchingly.
"No." Ryuu interrupted before it could continue, anger evident in her eyes as she continued. "We don't even know you, and you just came in here soaked in blood, swinging that large pile of met-"
"Well the choice is up to Alise after all, she's our leader." Kaguya says evenly, although the tone in her voice makes it evident she disagrees with the whole concept as well. "So what's the choice, oh great captain?"
"Well- I…." Her mind just completely shuts down. "Group meeting! Right now!" She declares, jumping from her seat and before the other 2 could react, grappling and dragging them over to a corner of the tavern.
It's only been a minute and I'm starting to regret my words.
Jack looks at the 3 discussing the idea, and idly fiddles with his tri-cone hat in his hands, using his finger to spin the object like a plate.
It's gonna be a bit troublesome to kill everyone here. He thinks to himself, looking at the weird mishmash of beasts and humans. All with their revolting tails, ears and quirks that makes him want to mince them into nothing but meat.
Blood bullets. Good, but not enough for everyone.
Axe. Good for flesh, not for shields. Kirkhammer better.
Fire. Burn down the house, not good for burning these beasts.
Thinking hard was what kept him alive in Yharnam.
Beasts couldn't, and it gave him an edge on survival.
Eventually, thinking was replaced by pure and simple slaughter.
He didn't need to have a plan to create his masterpieces, it just came naturally.
"Alise, he's not female, and definitely has no qualms with killing people!" Ryuu starts as they group in the corner, shooting a heated glance at the man, one that he casually ignores.
"Well if you look at him now, he doesn't seem as much of a blood crazed murderer." Kaguya comments, seeing him spin the cap innocently, contrasting greatly with his blood soaked clothes. "Even then, he has no idea what Orario does, what's not to say if he decides to go on a rampage? it's going to be our fault he's loose, I'd say either we kill him here and now or we keep a close eye on him."
"And if we do bring him with us, we can make him a better person!" Alise adds on excitedly. "And if he tries to do anything dumb, we can just kick his ass, he can't be more than the average level 4, we can take him no problem!"
"So what, we're gonna keep him in our home, and inscribe our goddess mark on him?" Ryuu looks at the both of them, dumbfounded. "It's a waste of her power! And something that he shouldn't deserve!"
"The possible repercussions if we don't is too great to just ignore." Kaguya rebuts calmly. "And a fight between level 4s is not going to be quick and easy. I'd rather not deal with that, it's better to keep our enemies close after all."
"Hey, he could be an excellent familia member for all we know!" Alise scolds lightly, slapping Kaguya on the back.
"Possible enemy." She corrects herself.
"…Nothing I say will change your mind?" Ryuu pleads a final time. "He's almost as unhinged as Erebus's familia!"
"Alise just wants to spice up the familia with some males." The black haired samurai smirks. "Maybe she believes it'll raise our familia's stand- OW!" She yelps, her words halted by Alise's fist making contact with her head, painfully.
"Well they Erebus was just being evil for the sake of being evil, just because he's a bit abnormal doesn't mean he's evil too!" Alise says enthusiastically, rubbing the fist
"I think a bit abnormal does not cut it…" Ryuu tries to protest further, but seeing the determined gaze in her green eyes, just sighs. "At least tell me why you're keeping him in."
"Nope!" Alise smiles, blunt as ever. "Kaguya already gave enough of those!"
"Please don't use me as an excuse for your terrible choices."
"At least keep him away from my room, he smells like hasn't showered in weeks!"
"Deal! I'm gonna throw him in the bath first thing I bring him to the surface."
"You need to first register him in the guild."
"…Second thing!"
The blonde elf groans, her gloved hands covering her face as she tries to accept her captains 'methodical' decision making.
The Hunter's thoughts on painting the whole town red was suddenly interrupted as the same red haired captain approaches, a large smile plastered on her face.
"Alright Jack, I accept your proposition, and I, Alise Lovell, captain of Astraea, shall bring you in as our newest member!"
"…Okay."
"H-Hey! At least give a more excited reaction than just 'okay'! It's a great honour to be joining us y'know?"
"…" He just stares wordlessly, a deadpan expression on his face. "I don't need to prove myself or anything to join?"
"Going to the surface should be a good enough test, we can see your combat skills on the way." Kaguya mentions, casually folding her arms.
"Yep!" Alise nods fiercely, leaping onto the samurai's suggestion.
"When am I starting?" Jack asks, putting the tricon back on his head.
"Now of course! Grab your weapons, we're heading to the surface!"
Kill.
He easily chops off the right hand of the beast, disarming its weapon in the process as it roars in pain.
Kill.
Tearing out the monster crystal of the Minotaur with his left hand, the hunter leaves the dissolving body on the ground, and approaches a pack of Lygerfangs.
Duck.
He dive rolls, barely avoiding the first attack of a Lygerfang by a hairs breath
Smash.
He slams the steel hammer attached on his back into its companion, feeling the satisfying crunch as the weapon meets flesh.
Maim.
Stabbing the sword into the third member, he stabs right into the monster crystal where its heart should be. Ripping out the shining jewel as it drops to the floor with a small clink, killing two of the pack of three.
Kill.
Jack feels the beasts claws plunge into his shoulder while he was distracted, the pain snapping him from his bloodlust for just a moment.
Cleave.
He swings his sword in a large arc, easily chopping the tiger monsters head off, showering him in the blood which seems to rejuvenate him more than any health potion.
Hurl.
With superhuman strength, he grabs the huge hunk of metal on his back, and with a loud grunt, lobs it at the greatsword wielding Minotaur.
Dodge.
Experienced as he was, he simply dashes to the side, letting some fireballs pass by harmlessly, hearing the crunching of bones as the hammer makes contact with the monster.
Shoot.
Drawing his sidearm, ringing filled his ears as the rounds easily create holes in the armor of the hellhounds that tried to burn him earlier, smashing their crystal and leaving them to die.
Blood.
Reload.
He cuts open his palm, letting his blood substitute for his long used quicksilver bullets.
Kill.
Smelling the scent of approaching horde of monsters, he picks up his dropped hammer. The weapon caked in blood and fats as he rips it off the pulverised body of the minotaur.
Hunt.
Slamming his sword into the centrepiece, he twists it and hears the small click noise, indicating it's newly transformed state. Lifting the combined trick weapon on his shoulder, he charges towards the horde, blood still dripping off his hammer.
"You really are going to have your work cut out for you Alise." Kaguya comments as she watches Jack swing his gigantic hammer at the oncoming hoard. "I'm actually starting to sympathise for you in the future."
Alise stares at the brutal bloodbath, her hand clutching her hair as if she was in pain "It's not even a battle, it's a massacre, and he's just enjoying it!" She despairs, noting how the hunter takes a moment to savour the minotaur's pain severing its limbs before plunging the sword into the beasts neck.
"Definitely a level 4 at least, his dexterity and strength is almost reaching level 5 standards." Ryuu observes, catching an axe from a nearby Almiraj and lobbing the weapon back at it.
"Doesn't seem like he uses magic, however." She adds. "No chanting or anything, purely martial, but with enough endurance to handle the constant stream of battles, very experienced at it as well."
"He fights just like a monster!" Alise clutches her head, despair in her voice. "How am I supposed to help him?! He has more strength than all of us, and doesn't seem to have an ounce of control at all!"
"That's your problem, you accepted him after all."
"Agreed."
"Urgh, I really hate both of you!"
