Disclaimer: I don't own Danmachi and Bloodborne
Ryuu was a very normal elf in a very abnormal world.
Well, as normal as she can be.
Adventurers aren't exactly known to be very sane.
It's been a trend that has adventures grow in level and strength, they grow in eccentricity as well.
Some, way more than others.
This man is, undeniably, insane.
It takes her all her willpower not to comment on his actions as he kicks open the door to the guild office.
Could've at least wiped the blood off.
She grumbles quietly, letting Alise take the lead as she tries to be as inconspicuous as possible behind her group, trying not to draw as much attention to herself.
Not like it matters much, since the hunter was soaking up much of the spotlight anyway, as much as the blood covering his body, it's even starting to drip on the ground too. Most that even noticed his rather bloody appearance begin whispering among themselves, conversation that Ryuu herself could pick up with her enhanced ears.
"Bloody hell, sauntering in like that."
"I heard he was the cause of those mid tier fires, I can smell the burn off him!"
"With the important members of the Astraea familia next to him, I'm jealous…"
"Alright Jack! We just need to queue…" Alise trails off, watching as Jack just nonchalantly walks straight into the queue, a mix of push and shoving as he throws the other adventurers out of the way, causing a few irritated squeaks and glares towards the man.
None of them tried to contest their spots anyway, the blood soaked cape was a massive deal-breaker on their choices between getting their queue spot back, or having their own blood mix in with the rest.
"Oi, what are you-"
"Move." The hunter raises both his hands, rather forcefully thrusting the Dwarf away from the counter.
"Who the he-" The Dwarven adventurer raises his voice, but suddenly stops midway through his outburst. Staring at the blood soaked man, and the way the man grips the handle of his sword so tightly it looks as if he's ready to fight anyone at any moment, he wisely keeps his mouth shut, letting the man have the chance to interact with the guild attendant.
"Couldn't you have just waited for a moment?!" The red haired captain huffs, and smiles apologetically at the dwarf.
"I apologise for his actions, he's new around here." She bows, trying to lower the amount of heat directed to her party, which Jack seems unaffected by. Ryuu seems distinctly uncomfortable having this large increased attention towards her, while Kaguya takes it in stride, ignoring the stares towards her and blood-soaked companion, whose clothes look comparable to her shade of red on her kimono.
One thing the samurai does notice however, is how tightly the man clutches the blade on his silver sword, squeezing it so hard blood is starting to drip off his hand and onto the floor below.
Rose Fannett was having just another ordinary day.
Filing forms, helping new adventures, responding nicely to flirts directed towards her.
Just another normal day.
"Alright sir, here's your pay-MENT?!" Her tail slaps her mouth, muffling the scream as her wolf ears twitch in surprise.
Calm down Rose, you got this, he's just another nice adventurer, a nice, rather handsome, and very bloody… rather stinky… blood dripping… adventurer…
Oi! Get your mind straight!
Mentally slapping herself, she takes a deep breath, and puts on her standard greeting smile, which comes off more like a grimace observing the man's appearance.
"Hello!... Adventurer, I'm Rose, how may I help you today?"
Please be normal Please be normal Ple-
"I'm registering as an adventurer… please." He adds on the last word rather awkwardly, gaining a rather enthusiastic nod of approval from Alise as Ryuu looks like she wants to bury herself in a hole.
"Well.. great!" Never in her career had she expected for this… battle-worn man to even be a registered adventurer yet.
Her ears twitching, she reaches underneath the desk, and pulls out a giant stack of paperwork, and drops it onto the counter with a loud slam.
"Please fill your details with the quill pen, and I can officially register you as a guild member!" She smiles forcefully, feeling like it's getting even harder to keep up appearances every second.
"..." The man wordlessly grabs the quill, and stares at the papers, as if he's trying to decode something.
"Jack… the pages are flipped upside down…" Alise tries to say, helpfully.
"...Oh." He turns the stack around.
"...Nevermind, I'll just read it to you."
The red-haired captain shoots an apologetic look towards Rose, and grabs the stack of papers, explaining to him the contract of the guild, how it works, how magic crystals are exchanged, levels, and all the bureaucratic nonsense.
And so the hunter, with the assistance of the Astraea captain, spends the next hour trying to decipher Orario's alphabet.
The red-haired werewolf looks on at the scene, keeping her smile plastered on her face to cover up the fear she feels towards the hunter.
She has never seen this air of beastly smell emanating from such a man, not even other werewolves smell this… wild, untamed, and instinctual.
The only one that could likely rival him was Bete, the recently promoted level 5 werewolf.
Even then, the amount of bloodlust she feels radiating off him, directed towards everyone around him, even towards her, shakes her to the very core.
She wishes she doesn't ever have to meet him again.
"I think I'm done." Rose sighs, collapsing in her seat as she finally signs the rest of the document Jack filled in.
Half of these don't even make sense, a doll, a weapon transforming into a doll, he works for an old man with a scythe, calls him Gerhmen or something?
"Fannett, how are you?" She hears the booming voice of her boss, Royman.
Wrapping her tail around herself for comfort, she sighs.
"I'm alright sir, I just filed in a couple of new adventures today, we could delegate other attendants to mentor these new ones." She replies, holding up the stack of new forms, including the one with Jack, and passing in over to Royman.
And hopefully that man can be someone else's problem.
To her surprise, he waves away taking the folder.
"Unfortunately, the others have their hands full at the moment, so you'd have the handle the new ones for now."
The quill snaps in the werewolf's hand.
"...Could you repeat that sir, please?"
"You're handling the new batch, no excuses, until I have more staff."
Rose just gazes at Jack's documents, and clutches them so tightly that her claws start digging into the parchment.
"Yes sir."
She wishes she has a pillow right now so she could scream into it, unable to think of any other way to express her pain.
Rose. Wolf. Ears. Kill.
Hunt.
Kill
Kill.
Kill.
A image of Rose appears, speared through the chest with his sword, a glassy, blank expression of terror on her face, amber eyes gazing lifelessly at him.
Kill.
…No
…Control
Kill.
Stop.
Breathe.
Breathe.
Brea-
"Jack, you coming?" The sound of Alise snaps him out of his thoughts, an unchanging smile on her face.
Shuffling forwards quickly, he follows Alise and the rest towards the familia house.
Gonna be 100% honest, no idea how im gonna continue this
still have no plot in mind, since i started it as a random thought
about 1.2k words, somewhat shot for me
as always please review, id like some good critism of my work and stuff, having 'good story' makes me happy but doesnt give me proper advice on how to improve
gonna hafta think of a plot eventually if im gonna continue, im just continuing on my origonal idea atm and drawing upon my thinking of the start
just gonna say jack might become a more stable person eventually, but for now hes kinda off the rails, never really liked good/heroic hunters, i prefer having barely sane monsters like mah boi here
