House of Villages:
Nina and Joy stood in Fabian's empty hospital room and stared with shocked and sad faces at the empty bed.
"Where is Fabian?" Asked Joy.
"I don't know," said Nina.
"He isn't...," said Joy, not even able to finish her sentence.
"No, he can't. He can't be...," said Nina.
Nina had no words and just stared at the empty hospital bed. Fabian's doctor came walking up to the two girls
"What's the matter?" Asked the doctor.
"Where is... Where is Fabian?" Asked Joy.
"He isn't...?" asked Nina.
"Fabian is still in a coma, only his condition is stable so he was taken to another room," said the doctor.
Nina and Joy were relieved and gave the doctor a hug.
"Can we see Fabian?" Asked Nina.
"Sure, follow me," said the doctor.
The doctor took Nina and Joy to the room where Fabian now lay. Nina and Joy walked into the room. Nina walked up to Fabian and gave him a kiss on his forehead. Nina turned around and saw Joy staring nervously out the window.
"Are you all right? Asked Nina.
"Yeah, I just... I need to go to the bathroom. I'll wait for you outside, said Joy.
"Okay, said Nina.
Joy looked at Fabian in his comatose state and the guilt just kept growing and she walked out of the room. Nina turned her attention back to Fabian.
"We thought we lost you silly. you didn't really benefit from that move, you're still all alone, said Nina.
"That's not entirely true," said a voice.
Nina turned and saw a tall boy entering the room with crutches. The boy had dark blond hair and gray eyes
"Hello," said the boy.
"Hi," said Nina.
"I'm Mason," said the boy.
"Nina," said Nina, as she shook Mason's hand. "Do you also sleep in this room?"
"Yes, I'm the neighbor," said Mason. "Hope that's not a problem?"
"Problem? Why would that be a problem?" Asked Nina.
"I understand you want to be alone with your boyfriend, so I'll leave you alone," said Mason.
"I'm just glad he's not alone anymore, said Nina.
Nina gave Fabian another kiss and walked out of the room.
At the same time. Joy walked down the hallway of the hospital. Joy stood still and leaned against the wall.
"What did I do?" Asked Joy to herself.
"Exactly what you had to do," said all too familiar voice
Joy looked around the corner and saw Omar standing there.
"What went through your mind seeing Fabian lying like that? Imagine how bad it will be if all your other friends are lying there too," said Omar.
"What do you mean?" Asked Joy.
"You know very well what I mean. You just have to do what I say," said Omar.
"I don't know where that crate is," said Joy.
"Then you need to look hard, the attic, the cellar, get me that new clue for the new task or I'll make sure all your friends end up like Fabian one by one," said Omar.
"You leave my friends alone," said Joy.
"I'm giving you until Monday, so you've got the whole weekend to search," said Omar.
Omar put on his sunglasses and walked away. Joy began to cry softly and didn't realize that Nina was standing behind her.
"Hey," said Nina.
"Hey," said Joy, as she whipped her tears away.
"We have to go," said Nina.
"Yeah," said Joy.
"You all right?" Asked Nina.
"Yeah," lied Joy.
Nina nodded her head and left the hospital with Joy.
In the meantime in the house. Alfie and his uncle Isaac sat with Amber, Patricia and Trudy in the living room.
"So you came all the way from Kenya?" Asked Patricia.
"Yes," said Isaac.
"But Alfie, your family lives in York, right?" Asked Amber.
"That's right," said Alfie.
"Let me explain it to you. My brother, that's Alfie's father lived in Kenya when we were young, our father got a job in York and so we moved," said Isaac.
"But you went back to Kenya?" Asked Amber.
"I love my family very much, but I never felt at place in York, so 14 years ago I went back to the village where I grew up and I felt like a really was at home," said Isaac.
"How come?" Asked Patricia.
"I felt a very strong connection with it, like I was meant to be there," said Isaac.
"My uncle is very spiritual," said Alfie.
"You are?" Asked Trudy.
"Yeah, I'm more open to the supernatural than others are," said Isaac.
"So am I," said Trudy.
"I like that and it's very unique thing to be a believer," said Isaac.
"Thank you, for saying that," said Trudy.
"I include my spiritualty in my profession," said Isaac.
"What is your profession then?" Asked Trudy.
"I heal people with what nature gives me," said Isaac.
"You're a healer," said Trudy.
"Exactly, I'm a healer," said Isaac.
"So you're some kind of doctor?" Asked Patricia.
"Yes, sort of, only I don't use modern medicine," said Isaac.
"I just have one question," said Amber.
"What is your question young lady?" Asked Isaac.
"What about the goat?" Asked Amber.
"Delphi, she's my best friend," said Isaac.
"Your best friend is a goat?" Asked Amber.
"Yeah, Delphi and I have a special bond," said Isaac.
"But why are you here Uncle Isaac, what's the bad news you wanted to tell me?" Asked Alfie.
"Yes, unfortunately the beautiful village where I live has been destroyed," said Isaac.
"Destroyed? But how can that be?" asked Alfie.
"We were hit by an earthquake," said Isaac.
"An earthquake? And what about the villagers?" Asked Alfie.
"Fortunately, there weren't many casualties. But many people lost their homes, including me," said Isaac.
Suddenly Victor jr. was yelling and he walked into the living room angry, with a piece of carpet in his hand
"How did that dirty animal get here?" Asked Victor jr.
"Victor that's not a dirty animal, that's Delphi," said Trudy.
"Can someone explain to me how a goat ate my carpet?" Asked Victor jr.
"It's not that hard, You just have to use your teeth and chew hard," joked Alfie.
"I'm not in the mood for jokes, that goat is eating my carpet," said Victor jr.
With all the screaming that was going on, Aaron came down to see what was going on.
"What is that beast doing here?" Asked Victor jr.
"That's Delphi and that's my goat," said Isaac.
"And who are you?" Asked Victor jr.
"My name is Isaac, nice to meet you," said Isaac, as he tried shaking Victor jr.'s hand.
"He's Alfie's uncle," said Amber.
"And why is your uncle here?" Asked Victor jr.
"I think it's rude to ask our guest all those questions right away," said Trudy.
"Guest?" Asked Victor jr.
"Yes, Isaac is our guest and is staying here with Alfie," said Trudy.
"Oh is he now?' Asked Victor.
"Yeah," said Alfie.
"Without consulting me," said Victor jr.
"I'm sorry, sir, for barging in like this," said Isaac.
"I'd like you to leave," said Victor jr.
"But Victor Isaac has traveled from far, He can stay with us," said Trudy.
"All right, but that goat sleeps outside," said Victor jr.
"All right then, I'll follow Delphi and pitch my tent in the garden," said Isaac.
"And everyone out of my sight, I want peace and order in this house, said Victor jr.
Amber and Patricia went into the living room. Alfie and Trudy went with Isaac and Delphi to the garden and Aaron went back upstairs back to KT. Aaron walked into the room and sat down on KT's bed.
"You'll never guess who's here?" Said Aaron.
"Who?" Asked KT.
"Alfie's uncle," said Aaron.
"Alfie's uncle?" Asked KT.
"Yes and he has a goat with him," said Aaron.
"Did you just say he has a goat with him?" Asked KT.
"Yeah, you think you've had seen everything in this house, you get this. Well it can always get crazier in this house," said Aaron.
"What are they doing here?" Asked KT.
"I don't know, just that the goat's name is Delphi and that it eat a bit of carpet and now Alfie's uncle's sleeping in the garden," said Aaron.
KT rubbed her head and sighed deeply.
"Do you have a headache?" Asked Aaron.
"Yes," said KT.
"You're thinking too hard," said Aaron.
"I just want to know what happened," said KT.
"You will, in time," said Aaron.
"Yeah, but I just want to know for Nina, for you and for myself," said KT.
"Don't force it. The doctor said not do that," said Aaron.
"When I'm feeling better we can talk to Nina, Amber, Patricia and Joy," said KT.
"What are you talking about?" Asked Aaron.
"They found me, maybe they know something," said KT.
"Maybe they do," said Aaron.
Aaron opened his bag and took out a smoothie cup with an orange beverage in it.
"What's this? Asked KT.
"This is a smoothie cup, you usually drink out it," said Aaron.
"I mean what kind of beverage is this?" Asked KT
"I know, I was just messing with you," said Aaron. "This is an orange mango juice and it seems to be very healthy and tasty."
Aaron handed KT the drink and she took a sip of the juice.
"Tastes good," said KT
Good. Now drink it , because you can use the extra vitamins," said Aaron.
KT finished her juice and put the cup on her nightstand.
"That was delicious thank you," said KT, as she rubbed her eyes.
"Are you tired?" Asked Aaron.
"A little," said KT.
"Go get some sleep," said Aaron.
KT nodded her head and closed her eyes. When KT had fallen asleep Aaron grabbed a plastic bag from his bag and carefully put the cup KT had been drinking from in it. Aaron put the plastic bag in his bag, gave KT a kiss and walked over to the chair and sat down and watched KT sleep.
A few moments later, Eddie came home and went to his room and when he came in saw that Mara, Jerome and Otis were in his room.
"What are you guys doing here?" Asked Eddie.
"They are waiting for you, I'm just here because Mara asked me to come," said Jerome.
"You weren't there during the school newspaper meeting," said Mara.
"I was at the hospital to see Fabian," said Eddie.
"How is he?" Asked Otis.
"He's still in a coma," said Eddie.
"So nothing's changed?" Asked Otis.
"Nope," said Eddie.
"Wish I could hear better news," said Jerome.
"It's so weird seeing him lying there and it's just not right," said Eddie.
"We should go to see Fabian soon," said Mara.
"After the hospital I wanted to visit my father, but he wasn't at his house," said Eddie.
"Do you know anything about your father?" Asked Otis.
"They're firing him, The board wants him gone," said Eddie.
"What?" Asked Mara.
"That stupid Shepard guy talked to the board and now my dad's been fired," said Eddie.
"Poor Mr. Sweet," said Mara.
"This isn't fair, They can't do this," said Otis.
"Apparently the can and they did," said Eddie.
"All because of what happened during the rehearsal of the musical?" Asked Jerome.
"Yes, they found that enough reason to fire him," said Eddie.
"But that is just ridiculous," said Jerome.
"We have to do something, It's our fault that Mr. Sweet is getting fired," said Mara.
"What do you want to do?" Asked Otis.
"We have to figure out a way to make Mr. Sweet stay," said Mara.
"What's your idea?" Asked Otis.
"I have no idea right now, but I'll think of something," said Mara.
In the meantime, Victor Jr. was in the cellar trying to tap in to the microphone he had put in Nina and Amber's room.
"This should be the right frequency, but why don't I hear anything Corbierre ...," said Victor jr.
Victor Jr. stared at the spot where Corbierre should normally be and sighed deeply. Victor jr. gave the device a few slaps and then he heard something, the door opening and footsteps.
At the same time. Nina and Joy returned from the hospital and were welcomed by Amber and Patricia.
"And how was it?" Asked Amber.
"He was moved to another room, but his condition was still the same," said Nina.
"So he's still in a coma," said Patricia.
"We need to have a club meeting, let's go to our room," said Nina.
The club ran up the stairs and headed to Nina and Amber's room. Victor jr. turned up the volume and tried to listen in. And then there was a loud scream. The scream was so loud Victor Jr. fell out of his chair.
Who was screaming like that? What is going on?
