Trust

A/N: This chapter the camper take on their next challenge.

Anyway onto the chapter!

Kevin's POV

I woke up in a good mood. Today was the day I was going to try and tell Heather how I feel about. Even if I don't have any luck I will keep trying until I succeed in telling her how I feel.

After getting dressed I walked out of the cabin and head to the Main Lodge. When I walk in I see her shivering while covered in a warm, brown, blanket, and sit next to her.

"Hi Heather, " I greeted her. "Feeling any better today?" I asked and she sniffed in response.

"I take that as a no. Anyway, there something I wanted to talk to you about, " I said. Heather raised an eyebrow.

I was about to tell her how I feel. When suddenly Gwen and Leshawna sit across from us with smiles on their faces. Heather sneezes right before Gwen rests her tray on the table.

"Bless you, " I muttered.

"Thank you," Heather whispers into my ear.

"Need a little echinacea?" Gwen asked.

"Ha! You're so funny, " Heather replied. "You think you can just lock me up in a freezer and get away with it? I'm gonna make you sorry that you ever met me."

Too late, " Gwen said leaning close and whispering in Leshawna's ear. Leshawana giggled.

"Ugh! You are such a...a... A... ACHOO!!" Ugh! I hate this place."

"Bless you, " I said. "You want a cup of coffee?" I asked looking at Heather.

"Yes, " she replied. "And thank you."

I got up out of my seat and headed to the coffee maker. I saw Courtney and Duncan arguing about something. I shrugged it off and grabbed two mugs and poured coffee in both of them. I was mainly coming over here to get away from Gwen and Leshawna who were laughing about what they did to Heather.

I then walked back over to my spot and sat down next to Heather and took a sip of my coffee. While handing Heather the other cup of coffee.

"This is the only thing here that doesn't taste horrible, " I commented.

"True, " Heather said. "By the way what did you want to tell me earlier?" She asked looking at me.

"It was nothing forget about it, " I quickly replied.

/Kevin: I wanted to tell her how I feel but just don't have the guts to anymore. Especially not in front of Gwen and Leshawna. I don't need those loud mouths laughing about my feelings for Heather./

/Heather: I could tell that Kevin was lying when he said it was nothing. But I could see that it was something important. He really looks like he has something on his mind./

"Morning campers. It's time for today's challenge." Chris said on the old speaker.

"I can tell you have something you really want to talk about. So we will talk after the challenge, " Heather said as we walked out of the Main Lodge.

Both of the team's group up to hear Chris explain today's challenge.

"So, last week challenge exposed a few Gopher issues, " Chris started.

Gwen and Leshawna both glared at Heather. I glanced at Lindsay who waved at me. I just look away. Then look back at Heather and sigh.

'I'm still so mad at her for help Leshawna and locking Heather in the freezer. Also, I wish I could just tell Heather how I feel about her.'

I don't know what to expect from this team anymore. Everyone here is starting to get on my nerves except for Heather.

"And I'm sensing something funky floating in the Bass pond too, " Chris said as Courtney pushed Duncan. "So, this week's challenge is gonna be centered around building trust because all good things begin with a little trust."

"There will have to be completed by two or more members of your team. Normally we like to have the campers choose their partners. But not this time. More fun for me.

We relocated to an area with a giant wall.

"Okay, so for the first challenge, you'll be doing an extreme free-hand rock climbing adventure. Dj and Duncan will play for the Bass and Heather and Gwen for the Gophers." Chriss smiled as Gwen let out a groan.

"Here's your belay and harness." Chris tossed them.

Heather quickly snatched the harness from Gwen.

"Hey, what's your damage?" Gwen glared.

"If you think I'm letting you hold me up, you're nuts," Heather stated.

"You won't be holding her up exactly. One camper pulls the slack through the belay as their partner climbs. If the climber falls the belay will stop them from crashing. The catch: both the side and the base of the mountain are rigged with a little and a few minor distractions like rusty nails, slippery oil slicks, and mild explosives and a few other surprises." Chris said.

"Wicked." Harold smiled.

"The person on belay must also harness their partner up. It's all about trust people and remember. Never let go of the rope. Your partner's life depends on it."

"Excuse me, can we trade partners? I really don't feel like being dropped on my head., " Gwen stated.

"Puh-lease, as much as I love your company, I'm not gonna throw a challenge just to kill you. Yet. Now spread 'em." Heather said as Gwen rolled her eyes.

We watched Heather hook Gwen up.

"There, you're all hooked up, " Heather said smiling.

"What's the second rope for?" Gwen asked.

"It's a backup line, " Heather said still smiling.

"What are you smiling about?" Gwen narrowed her eyes.

'What Heather up to now?'

Dj and Gwen began climbing. An explosion went off in front of Gwen and she sent falling.

Heather actually caught Gwen and stopped her from falling.

Chris then shot Heather with some sort of sauce making Heather let go of the role causing Gwen to fall.

She got back up and she continued climbing.

"Come on, Gwen! You don't wanna fall, behind!" Heather pulled one of the ropes causing the ack of her skirt to rip off.

Okay... That was shocking and unexpected. Dj got distracted by um... Gwen and lost his balance.

"Ugh...screw it," Gwen growled and continued climbing.

"Looks like the Gophers win the first challenge, " Chris said.

Trent, Lindsay, Bridgette, and Geoff were taken to the main lodge to do the next challenge.

The rest of us were left to do whatever. I saw Heather walking around the camp. I quickly close my journal and try to get Heather attention.

"Heather, " I started.

She turned and glanced at me.

"Oh, hi Kev-"

"Is your eye ok?" I quickly asked.

"Yeah, why do you ask?"

"Um, you had sauce shot into your eye."

"I'm still able to see, right?" She said smirking.

"Yeah, good point."

"Thanks for checking on me Mr. Nice, " she said crossing her arms.

"So you still free to talk after the challenge?"

"Yeah. I am you look like you have something you need to get off your chest."

Suddenly the announcer went off.

"The score is now 1 all. The next challenge will begin shortly, " Chris said.

"Guess we should see what he has planned next, " Heather said.

I nodded in agreement and followed behind Heather.

We all grouped up for the next part of the challenge.

"Good news, the 3rd round involves 3 more challenges. It's the three blind challenges. It begins with the blind William Tell. Followed by the blind trapeze, and culminating in the treacherous blind toboggan."

Chris placed an arrow on DJ's head.

"Like legendary marksman William. You will be knocking arrows off your partners head with crab apples," Chris told us.

"Wasn't it the other way around?" Courtney stated.

"Shush. Also, the shooter will be blindfolded." Chris started making us all gasp." The person who knocks off the arrow first while causing the least amount of facial damage wins," Chris said shooting a crab apple at DJ hitting him right in the nuts.

"Ah, nuts. Kevin and Owen, you'll be one team. Courtney and Sadie, you'll be the other," Chris said as I rolled my eyes.

"So, Kevin? Which one of us is shooting?" Owen asked.

"I'm shooting," I said firmly crossing my arms.

"Okay, lets rock and roll," Chris told us.

/Kevin: Owen cool and all but he eats everything. And I didn't want to risk him eating the apples instead of throwing it./

I put on the blindfold and picked up an apple. I tried to imagine where I was shooting. I aimed and fired. I assumed I didn't hit the arrow so I continued shooting. I kept shooting until I got some sort of sign that the arrow was knocked off.

"Nice shot Kevin." I heard Owen say.

I took off my blindfold and saw that I actually managed to hit the apple. I watched Sadie attempt to shoot the arrow off of Courtney's head despite me already winning.

"You moron. It's ov-oof" She started but got hit right in the head with an apple.

"Sadie, it's over man! Let it go!" Chris told Sadie.

"Oopsie. Sorry." Sadie said smiling.

"You're going down," Courtney said falling to the floor.

Well, that challenge went pretty well. At least for me, it did.

We moved to the next location to complete part 2 of the three blind challenges.

"And now for the blind trapeze. To avoid serious injury, the trapeze has been set up over this pond...which is full of jellyfish." We gasped.

Chris gave Heather and Bridgette a blindfold.

"You two will stand blindfolded on the platform until your partners tell you when to jump," Chris told us.

"And then?" Heather questioned.

"Then hopefully they'll catch you... or that's going to be one heck of a painful swim." Chris laughed." Okay, hut!"

We watched Harold and Bridgette go first. With good timing, he managed to catch her.

Next were Heather and Lindsay.

"! 2, 3. J-jump. Oh no, not yet." Lindsay tried but Heather had already jumped and fell right into the water.

My eyes widened and I quickly rush over and try to help Heather out, without shocking myself.

/Kevin: Poor Heather thanks to Lindsay stupidity. Heather got shocked by jellyfish./

I then help Heather walk to the infirmary.

Night Time...

It was now night time and the challenge was over. The Gophers ended up winning since Dj took off his blindfold during the last challenge.

I was sitting down at the beach writing in my journal. When I suddenly heard footsteps coming my way. I looked over and saw Heather walking my way.

"What on your mind you look deep in thought, " she said sitting down next to me.

"There's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now, Heather."

Heather raised an eyebrow.

I close my journal and stand up and turn to face her. "I've never met anyone like you, Heather. You're smart, feisty, and the most beautiful female I ever met." Heather plays while blushing. "Oh... Wow... I don't..." I grab both of her hands.

"The challenges we went through today we're all about trust. I don't trust or care about anyone on this Island except for you." Heather's face gets redder and redder.

"I...didn't realize you cared about me that way, " she said in a soft tone.

"Heather, I care so...that I would anything to make you happy and will always protect you from harm," I said smiling at her.

"Wow...that was so sweet of you to say, " Heather said.

"I know you probably rather have someone more like you, but Heather do you feel the same way?" I asked. Heather rubs her shoulder.

"To be honest... I don't know what I would do if you got kicked off. You're such an amazing guy, Kevin. You're intelligent, kind, caring, protective, and you have a nice muscular body. Even know must people would treat awful for me being mean first you treat me with kindness. I like that about you, Kevin." Now it was my turn to blush.

"Wow...thanks, Heather for the compliment." Heather then scoots closer to me.

"I do like you Kevin. I like you a lot. I... guess you could say... I really care about you."

"So then can I kiss you now beautiful?" I asked.

"Go ahead handsome, " Heather said laughing and shaking her head.

I smile at her for a brief moment, before leaning in and kissing her on the lips. After what seems like an eternity we both end the kiss.

"Wow... That was amazing, " she said with wide eyes." I really like this. I haven't felt anything this amazing back at home. All my ex have been jocks, and brain dead idiots who spend to much time on their phones, " she said leaning her head on my shoulder as we sat down on the soft sand.

My eyes met hers. "Well, you'll never have to deal with them anymore you got me now." Heather smiles in a way that I haven't seen before, as we watch moonlight shining on the waves.
