"I had to turn it down because even though it's so cheap, no one will eat it anyway." Kaien Cross was babbling again, talking about his trip to town this morning.
He continues to pretend to listen to him but on the corner of his eye, he is observing Zero. Especially his new aura.
The boy wasn't and isn't much of a talker. He literally hasn't talked to him nor to Kaien about his mating.

Toga stared at his old friend who's talking so animatedly that it's funny. Perhaps this is what people will become after living for so long.

He automatically stood when Kaien did, out of instinct more than anything, and Zero did the same but he's sure the boy met the pureblood's eyes for a moment because he's now looking elsewhere except Kuran's direction. "A pleasant afternoon, Headmaster Cross, Mr. Yagari…" Kuran Kaname greeted them formally to which they answered with a nod, but the pureblood paused for a while to give Zero a meaningful look; one that is a little too long for a casual greeting, before he said, "How are you, Zero?"
Toga saw how the young hunter quickly looked down on his cookie and dunked it on his cup. Finishing the entire thing a little too quickly. This close he could see the little tint of redness on his neck up to his cheeks. "Shut up." He uttered.
The atmosphere is dizzying. The pureblood's aura is surrounding them despite the open air.
"Zero-kun!" Yuuki called the boy out, glaring at him for talking to Kuran that way. "Please sit down, Kaname-kun." She smiled and gestured for the pureblood to sit next to her and then reached to give the pureblood a cup on a saucer then poured him some tea.
"Thank you, Yuuki." Kuran gave her a pleasing smile. "My apologies for intruding on your family time." He said, and Toga wasn't sure who it was directed to.
"You can join us anytime, Kaname-sama. You're practically family now." Kaien said, looking too pleased for Toga's liking.
Toga saw Yuuki eyeing the remaining chocolate-chip cookie on the little box but when she reached to get it, it was gone in a blink, her cheeks puffed to find it on Zero's hand as the boy nonchalantly dunked it on his hot chocolate.
"Why, Zero, you ate it all!" She huffed, pouting and glaring at Zero's direction. "I was going to give that to Kaname-kun."
"There are literally dozens of other cookies and biscuits in front of you." Zero said, glaring back at Yuuki.
"Now, now kids…" Kaien personally served the pureblood a saucer of the remaining flavors of the desserts he brought. One of each. "I'm sure Kaname-sama wouldn't mind trying the other flavors I bought. These are the best in town."
Kuran accepted the saucer and Toga could tell the pureblood himself wouldn't even mind not having any of those. He looked quite conflicted looking at the pile of pastries given to him.
"I know Kaname-kun doesn't like sweets, but I wanted him to try Zero's favorite cookie." Yuuki shared, rolling her eyes at Zero and then smiling sweetly at Kuran. "See? I told you he'd be gobbling them all up for himself."
Toga saw the pureblood now staring at Zero across the coffee table. He watched him watch Zero eat the way he did. He saw his eyes move, following Zero's little movements.
"Does it taste better to eat it that way, Zero-kun?" Kaname asked, attention undivided.
He raised a brow at how rattled Zero looked under the pureblood's gaze. He wasn't staring back but Toga knew Zero could feel the intensity of such eyes on him. Zero looked cornered. He looked up to see everyone was looking at him. He never did like being the center of attention. So, in defense, "Yes." He said, flustered as he drank what remains of his hot chocolate in one go.
"Oh! Did you know that the baker allowed Zero to watch him bake?" Yuuki excitedly shared. "He goes there all the time."
"Our Zero-kun re-creates their cookies once in a while." Kaien proudly added.
Toga shook his head. It was like there was a silent competition between Kaien and his daughter with who gets to tell Kuran the most facts about Zero and who's prouder.
"I'm out." Zero stood after setting his cup on the table.
He saw the way Kuran's jaw clenched before giving Zero a longing look. It was disconcerting, to say the least. It's as if he wants Zero to turn and look back at him.
When Zero left, he could be mistaken but he might have noticed the corners of the pureblood's lips turning into a small frown.
He wanted to understand their dynamics. He wanted to know if Zero was happy. By the looks of it, the pureblood is infatuated. Zero on the other hand…
He's naive. Toga hopes he's not just being swept away by the intensity of the pureblood's attraction for him. He could still remember his shocked expression when he told him…

"Ah, yes! Yes, of course." Kaien threw in, able to read the situation. "I will have a word with Kaname-sama later. In private."
At the door, Toga even heard Yuuki say, "I have something to tell Kaname-k-kun in private, as well."

"Shut your trap, Kaito." Toga Yagari's voice made them both look at the entrance of the stables. White Lily neighing and kicking like she'd seen her greatest enemy.

Kaito was laughing his heart out. "That horse is a menace. I think it's okay this far, sensei." He motioned for the senior hunter to stand next to him right across Lily's stall. Just when Toga did, Lily actually calmed down. That was an acceptable distance, apparently.

"What?" Kaito asked, ever curious and meddlesome.

Just when Zero thought that was the answer, "I don't think so." Is what Toga Yagari said. "Kuran Kaname gave you that horse when you first came here. So it must be that she recognizes him."
He turned to his godfather in shock. "Lily?"
Toga nodded, "The headmaster said so. I'm guessing it's from the Kuran Manor. I heard that place is huge." He added. "They probably have a lot of horses."
Zero felt blindsided. He didn't know at all. He never even bothered to ask. The headmaster told him it was a donation from a benefactor and he never asked who.
"How sweet." Kaito said sarcastically and jumped off his makeshift bed. "That's my cue. I'm out of here." He moved to leave but their sensei's hand on his arm made him stop.
"I will give you two a short brief of your next mission." Toga's tone made Zero pull away from White Lily. It was a little difficult to tear his gaze from her now that he knows Kaname gave her to him. Or maybe he gave her to the school? He just happened to get close to her. "But before anything else, Kaito is right, Zero." His sensei said, "The scent mask spray I gave you could hide the pureblood's scent on you but now that you've completed the mating process, you now carry his aura as well."
