Chapter 65
All right, so the latest spoiler as of June 7, 2022, is Dave posting a picture in his Instagram story from Jason's cage. So, I'm assuming Jason is alive lol (not that I doubted it for a second). We also had early on Dave posting Jason in the finale season battle at beginning of shooting. We also know that on IMDB Kerri and Jessica are listed under cast for 6x01. Judd posted his uniform boots of being back on set as well. Neil posted to his story that things were crazy for season 6. I think that about sums it up. (Check my twitter jaszy21 for updates lol). At this point they should be wrapping up 6x01/starting 6x02. Wonder if they're keeping up with the rigorous schedule. Anyways, thank you again for all the support. Enjoy a new chapter!
Back at HAVOC, everyone listened in waiting for an update. They had heard Sonny confirm that they'd found Ray. Jack stood holding his breath waiting to hear someone tell him Mandy had been found. Lisa's finger anxiously tapped against the comms, while Blackburn and Troy stared at the ISR and comms intensely.
"HAVOC, this is Bravo one," Jason called over the comms. "We're passing Jackpot. We have Flyer one."
The entire HAVOC let out a cheer and breath simultaneously. Smiles and hugs were passed around as they all thanked the forces that be that Ray and Mandy had been found.
"Bravo one, this is HAVOC. Good copy. Let's bring them home," Blackburn responded with a smile.
"Copy," Jason responded. "Be advised, we're gonna need a K9 medic. He took a swipe protecting Flyer one's six."
"Copy, we'll have one on standby," Blackburn responded as everyone became concerned for Cerberus. "Any other medical needed?"
"Bravo two's leg is pretty messed up," Sonny called over comms. "He's gonna need a medic as well."
"Flyer one looks to be a little beaten up. Nothing too serious," Jason added. "Heading for exfil."
"Copy, Bravo one. Sit tight, we'll get you a QRF status," Blackburn responded.
"You sure you're alright," Jason asked again as he looked her over thoroughly.
"For the millionth time, yes. We need to move and get Cerb help," Mandy replied as she carefully bent down to pick up Cerb.
"Woah, what are you doing?" Jason asked stopping her. "I'll take him."
"You're Bravo one and have all the gear. You'll be more useful in the fight than I will be. Help me put him on my shoulders," Mandy said.
"Bravo one, this is Bravo five, looks like the enemy has reorganized. We need to move," Brock said over the radio.
"Copy, we're headed your way. Bravo three, what's your status?" Jason said as he walked in front of Mandy and lead her towards the rest of the team.
"Bravo one, this is three, just got back to the front," Sonny replied.
A couple minutes later, Jason and Mandy met with the rest of the team. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief seeing Mandy alive.
"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes, wonder spook," Sonny remarked helping her with Cerb.
"Someone has to check all your egos in place, why not me," Mandy joked back. "Does that make Jason Batman? Don't Wonder Woman and him have a thing?"
Sonny shook his head, "Boss, you better not ever let this one go."
"Not planning on it," Jason smiled back just as they heard noise outside. "Everyone down," Jason called out just as the bullets started flying again. "Mandy!" Jason called out as he laid on top of her.
"I'm good! GO!" Mandy responded as she crawled towards guns left behind by the dead tangos.
"HAVOC, this is Bravo one. What's the status on that QRF?" Jason asked over comms.
"QRF is ten minutes out," Blackburn replied back.
"Push for the side exit!" Jason called out. "We need to get out of here or we'll be pinned down!"
The guys all agreed and started for their exit. Trent helped Ray hobble his way. Brock went over to Cerb and reassured Mandy, he'd take him out. Mandy decided to stay and help the guys fire back. She perched up towards a window and started firing as well.
"Ready when you are Bravo one!" Sonny called out.
"Start falling back for the exit," Jason ordered.
Clay started backing away from the fight as well as Full Metal. Sonny continued firing and called out towards Jason that they were the last ones.
"Move!" Jason yelled out as Sonny left his perch.
Jason grabbed Mandy and put her between the two. Before they could exit, Jason heard the enemy enter back into the building. He turned and threw a couple frags out just before exiting. Once outside, there was less gunfire, but the others were engaged. They needed to cross the street.
"Moving!" Jason yelled out as he and Mandy made a dash towards the rest of the team. "Smoke them!"
Just as they reached their vehicles, QRF showed up and created a barrier in front to keep the enemy from coming towards them. QRF and the enemy battled it out as Bravo team slipped away behind.
"HAVOC, this is Bravo one, we're headed for exfil," Jason called over comms.
"Good copy, Bravo one," Lisa replied letting out a breath. "Felt like we were never going to get to exfil."
"Don't jinx us, Davis. They still need to make it to exfil," Troy said. "Sounds like both are okay for the most part. We got lucky."
"Yeah, otherwise who knows what would've happened had they been captured," Jason shivered. "Mandy's been taken more times than I've liked."
"I remember the J-Bad deployment before last when she was taken," Lisa shook her head. "She barely seemed rattled. Blamed herself even for being taken."
"Oh, I bet she was rattled. She's just really good at hiding it," Jack said. "Luckily, she's never been tortured. I've always been able to get her back in time," Jack sighed.
Lisa looked at Jack closely. For the moment, she didn't see a CIA director trying to get his agent back but a father trying to get his daughter back home instead. She figured it must be hard to watch your daughter go into the dangers of war. She was impressed with how both of them managed it. Even more so, that no one really knew who exactly Mandy's Dad was and if they did, most kept quiet about it.
"What's that?" Troy asked looking at the ISR footage.
Lisa took a look, "Damn it, looks like some enemy combatants broke away from the group."
"Bravo is still out twenty minutes from exfil. If we don't get rid of these tangos, helos will be delayed. They're not going to land in a hot zone," Blackburn stated.
"Told you. Jinx," Troy said looking at Lisa with raised eyebrows.
Mandy sat in the back of one of the vehicles as they drove towards exfil. A part of her relieved at being found and another still on edge because they weren't out of the woods just yet. As she looked ahead, a hand grabbed her free hand. She looked over at Jason, as they both squeezed gently. Both wanted to reassure themselves that the other was really there and okay.
"Since when does Bravo one sit in the back?" Mandy asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Since I'm your knight in shining armor who daringly rescued his damsel in distress," Jason smirked.
"Wow, boss," Full Metal commented. "Real smooth," he chuckled from the front seat.
"I am not a damsel in distress," Mandy narrowed her eyes at Jason playfully. "As you can see, I was doing just fine before you showed up."
"Right," Jason answered back with raised eyebrows. "If I hadn't taken that bad guy out…," he trailed off staring at Mandy intensely.
"Well, I definitely preferred frogman in camo over knight in shining armor," Mandy smiled back.
"Someone hold the cheese please," Full Metal pretended to gag at the two.
They all laughed before falling back into silence. The car with Ray and Cerb was in front of them. Suddenly, Mandy felt a chill run through her that didn't go unnoticed.
"What's wrong?" Jason asked seriously.
Mandy turned around to look out the back window, "We've got company."
"Shit," Jason muttered turning to see enemy combatants coming up from behind.
"Bravo one, this is HAVOC. You've got enemy inbound to you fast," Lisa called over comms.
"Yeah, we see," Jason replied. "Bravo four, this is one. We've got enemy inbound behind us. All bravo elements, spread the cars out. HAVOC, how many enemy vehicles do you see?"
"Three enemy vehicles are on ISR," Lisa answered.
"Copy," Jason replied.
"Get each car to follow one," Mandy stated.
"Yeah," Jason replied while reaching into the trunk. "Here," Jason said handing Mandy a gun similar to his. "You and me fire through the back."
"You know how to work that?" Full Metal raised an eyebrow.
Mandy cocked the gun and made sure everything was in place before turning to face towards the back, "I think I got it."
"You're a lucky guy boss," Full Metal said aloud.
"Don't I know it. You cover from the front," Jason ordered. "All bravo stations, split on my word."
"Bravo one, this is HAVOC," Blackburn called out over comms. "Helos will not land in a hot LZ. You need to clear it out before getting to exfil."
"Good copy HAVOC," Jason replied as he watched the enemy vehicles approach. "Execute, execute, execute!"
The two cars in front both split going left and right while, their car stayed center. They watched as the enemy's vehicles split as well to follow the other cars. Mandy and Jason glanced at each other with a look of understanding before they started firing out the back window. The glass shattered easily, and the enemy swerved slightly at the sudden gunfire. Eventually, guys from their truck started firing back.
"Reload!" Mandy called out as she started to reload her gun, while Jason and Full Metal covered for her.
"Metal! We got any more smoke bombs?" Jason called out.
"Yeah!" Metal replied.
"All bravo elements, let's smoke them out one last time," Jason ordered as Metal handed him a bag.
As Jason got the smoke bomb bag ready, bullets continued to fly. Mandy was holding her own. As usual, watching Jason work the problem was a beautiful site. If they weren't in the middle of a gunfight, she'd probably lay one on him. She shook her head of those thoughts as Jason called out for everyone to execute their new plan.
"They're blind," Jason called out as everyone hooked their cars towards the center again.
They all quickly got out and took positions to fire at the enemy as they came out of the smoke. Once the enemy looked to be down, they approached the vehicles to clear them. As Jason and Metal cleared a car, a tango suddenly jumped up and attacked. Jason wrestled him to the ground as he yelled back in his language.
Mandy walked over as the guy's head turned towards her. He suddenly stopped upon seeing her and Jason looked towards Mandy as well.
Mandy knelt down towards the guy, "You know who I am."
The guy lunged at Mandy. Before Jason could react, Mandy had the tango's face down in the dirt. The man was yelling things again.
"You're right," Mandy replied in a cool even tone. "I am the enemy. We're taking him with us."
"You hit?" Jason asked frantically started checking Mandy over, seeing the fresh blood on her sleeve.
"Just a graze I think," Mandy said looking at her arm. "He knows something," Mandy said nodding towards their prisoner.
"HAVOC, this is Bravo one," Jason called over comms. "We'll be bringing in an enemy combatant with us."
"Good copy Bravo one," Blackburn replied.
Everyone got back into the cars and headed for exfil again. They finally made it just as the helos were landing. Mandy got on and sat next to Jason. She let out a breath as Jason intertwined their fingers together again. Mandy leaned her head on Jason's shoulder as he leaned his head on hers. Base wasn't home, but it was close enough for now.
