"I want to know more about your mother, Mistress Daiyu."

MaSha looked at him, hesitant to speak about the sudden request. She couldn't remember the last time she had spoken about her mother. There wasn't much she had learned about her mother over the past ten years. Many things Master Oogway himself had asked her to keep those secrets closed off. Everything she knew about her mother came from him.

The Dragon Warrior didn't seem that he was to change his mind anytime soon about his request. So with a heavy sigh, MaSha began to tell him about what she knew on Mistress Daiyu.

"Mistress Daiyu is, as you know, a powerful sorceress." MaSha began. "She was able to accomplish what no other sorceress or warlock could. No one truly knows why she did it and she refuses to speak of it."

"Forty-four years ago our mother was sent to the Jade Palace to get some training from Master Oogway in the art of Kung Fu. She was only fourteen years old and is the second born to the Hanshu Family."

"The Hanshu Family is known as a powerful and wealthy family, one would wonder why they would send one of their daughters away to train. Some say she was mentally sick and was sent to Oogway to fix her. Others said she had attacked her oldest sister and was sent away to keep the two girls apart."

Flashback

"You can't send me away forever!" A young Daiyu growled. Daiyu was a beautiful young tigress, her red eyes shining like the beautiful rare red moon.

"It's not forever sweetheart." Her mother spoke softly. "You'll return when you're ready." Daiyu could feel tears in her eyes as the door of the cart she sat in, lifted up. Daiyu had been caged and through the bars she could see her mother, father and her four sisters. The oldest sported a red gash over her right eye, making her right eye blind.

Daiyu's sight never left where her family once stood as she was getting further and further away. She asked the universe that her family stopped the carriage, that they didn't send her away to the Jade Palace. The carriage didn't stop, only getting further and further away from her family. Out of the five sisters, Daiyu was the only one being sent away from the family. She was the only one born with red eyes, neither of her parents nor anyone they knew had those eyes.

The Hanshu family had contacted the Emperor of the Shanxi Province, in which they lived, wondering if there were any tales of red eyed tigers. One of which told the story of General Qiang, China's best warrior until he turned against his emperor and took out the entire dynasty.

Out of paranoia, the Hanshu family wished that their daughter trained under Oogway's watchful eyes in the art of Kung Fu so she would not turn out like General Qiang. Daiyu could not believe her own family, to turn her away the way they had. She learned all about General Qiang, she was nothing like him. Daiyu cried the whole way to the Jade Palace, not feeling the love of her family anymore.

"Hello Daiyu." Master Oogway greeted the young girl at the door. With him were two other warriors, a small red panda much older than her and a snow leopard about her age. Daiyu didn't say a word to the three masters, only bowing respectfully.

"Tai-Lung, would you show the young girl to her room?" Oogway asked the young warrior. Tai-Lung nodded with a bow before helping Daiyu with her bags towards the student barracks. The two young warriors didn't exchange words as they walked to the barracks, Tai-Lung just assumed she must have been exhausted from the long journey from The Shanxi Province. That was at least a week's worth of traveling.

"Try getting some rest." Tai-Lung suggested once the two arrived at her room. "Master Shifu expects perfection from his students." Daiyu looked at the single bed and small cupboard for her clothing. The room was spacious, way bigger than the one at her home. Despite her family being wealthy and powerful, the biggest home in their province was smaller than the student barracks.

"Thanks." Daiyu muttered, snatching her bags from Tai-Lung's paws and rushing inside, shutting the door in the feline's face. Tai-Lung scoffed in annoyance before retreating to his own room.

Daiyu sighed, annoyed, sitting beside Master Oogway in the scroll room. It had been a few days since she had arrived at the Jade Palace and the girl was growing impatient with the old turtle. He had taught her nothing regarding Kung Fu.

Master Oogway could sense the young girl's impatience and had suggested they hung out in the scroll room. Though the girl could not find a single scroll that interested her. Kung Fu was not something she ever showed interest in and being around it constantly did not change that. Daiyu stood up, frustratingly looking through more scrolls. Master Oogway had his eyes closed, meditating, unaware of what the young girl was doing.

Daiyu, herself, did not know what she was doing, nor did she know what she was looking for. She skimmed through the labels of the scrolls, eventually coming across a topic that caught her eyes. "The art of The Tiger's Chi" She muttered the title of the scroll.

"Daiyu?" Oogway's voice called for her. Daiyu had a feeling she wasn't supposed to in this side of the Scroll room. There were many scrolls titled with the word Chi on it.

"I'm coming." Daiyu took notice of what part of the scroll room she had entered before going back to Master Oogway. She was definitely coming back to that room when Oogway wasn't watching her every move.

Later that night, Daiyu snuck out of her room and headed towards the Scroll room. Luckily for her, the scroll was always left unguarded and she was able to get in with ease. The young teen easily found the area she had been looking for and stole the scroll before disappearing from the Jade Palace.

End of Flashback

"That's as far as we know." MaSha frowned looking down at her plate.

"What?" Po looked at her confused. "Surely that can't be all."

"Look, our mother is by no means stupid." MaSha looked up at him. "Anything we know is all she's ever spoken about out loud. That scroll is still missing to this day and she refuses to say where it's hidden. Trust me, if I knew what is in that scroll, I could have mastered this curse by now." MaSha looked away, upset. Po frowned looking at the young teen. The story had left more questions than answers.

"Do you know what happened to her family?" Po asked. "To the Hanshu family?"

"When Daiyu disappeared, The Hanshu Family was immediately informed." Tigress answered. "In the search for her, her sisters slowly disappeared as well. The only one left is the oldest, Empress Xiuying."

"Empress?" Po looked shocked.

"Probably the only living relative we have on our mother's side." MaSha frowned. "She married the crowned prince of The Shanxi Province."

"When we found MaSha and Daiyu, Xiuying wanted to see her again." Tigress frowned. "Unfortunately, for her safety she was denied seeing her by her husband. He did not want to risk Daiyu doing something to her again."

"Are the other sisters still missing?" Po asked.

"Yes." The two sisters nodded. Po looked at them with disbelief, unsure of what to say. Daiyu never told them her motives, they remained a mystery. Everything still seemed to remain a mystery.

What did Daiyu discover in that scroll?

Sorry Daiyu's story is short. I really want to keep her motives a mystery for now. I went through a lot of trial and error when writing her story. At points I revealed too much. Other times I revealed barely nothing that it didn't make sense. Forgive me for the delay, but I do hope you enjoyed it!
