Please Feel at Ease Mr. Ling
I do not own the story Please feel at Ease Mr. Ling. I am only writing for entertainment purposes. This is truly fiction.
If you have not seen the show past episode 5-6 I would beware of spoilers.
This is my what if story...
Although I love this couple together I did not think I could forgive Ling Yue so easily as Anxin did. On these points:
Point Number 2:
Nothing about the accident is said at all. From what it looks like Ling Yue was limping on the road BEFORE she hit him (obviously that didn't help when she hit him but to make her feel it is COMPLETELY her fault I just think something should be said no?)
Although I love this story and Ling Yue I have thought too much about if I would forgive him or at least so easily. What if Anxin found out about his secret earlier on? How would it change the dynamic?
Please Feel at Ease Mr. Ling Chapter 2
Anxin sat there for a few moments after he told her. Ling Yue. Not Eightie. Mr. Ling. I have to get used to calling him that and liked it even. Anxin felt silly thinking how she had grown so used to calling him a name that she knew wasn't really his true name in the first place. Mr. Ling. Mr. Ling. Mr. Ling. The Eightie she knew seemed very much a different person from the Mr. Ling in front of her speaking of money, brains, status and power. Anxin was dismayed to realize he was such a good actor and she didn't know what was or wasn't true. She then focused her attention on what Mr. Ling had just told her. She had many more questions and this didn't even answer how she fit into this, or about the paternity test.
"So you were hiding out faking memory loss here blaming me, making me feel guilty and threatening to call the police and owe you money because ...?" Anxin asked, her hands flying into fists. "You still hit me with your scooter.. " Mr. Ling pointed out.. Fine she would concede that point.. for now. "And you think someone was trying to kill you and you didn't tell me or think I might be in danger as a result? Why wouldn't you just go to the police?" She blurted out her voice going higher pitched.
"They were after me and they thought I was dead. I was trying to lay low for a while and couldn't talk to the police because I wanted to find proof on whether it was really my brother or not" He explained quickly. Okay, Anxin still had feelings about that one but he had a slight point... "Except you came out often and don't say you always were covered in a mask I know you weren't. Also, what about the meeting with my coworkers? Was that lying low?" She taunted. Mr. Ling sighed. "That was...bad judgment on my part." "Bad judgment..." she repeated loosening her fists. "Also , I had my bodyguard Ai Li work on keeping my brother in the dark about you." He added quickly. Anxin gave him a hard stare. " Ai Li How?" She asked in amazement. "She works for me and is very good at what she does. Ai Li also is great at finding and handling information for me. She just wasn't with me that night." Mr. Ling says quietly.
Anxin looked down at her hands, her heart full of confusion. If this was true this was...a lot. "You lied to me." He looked sorrowful, placing his hand over hers again, squeezing it when she tried to move it away and Mr. Ling held on as he spoke. "I did...I didn't know what you were like and who might know about the accident. I'm sorry." She sighed. She could almost forgive him. Anxin was trying not to flash back to him taking care of her hand when she had the cut. If Mr. Ling had told her earlier she would have more easily understood. But the business with the paternity test...She could not forgive that. Anxin noticed Mr. Ling hadn't brought that up.
"Why did you research me?" She asked point blank. Mr. Ling softened his gaze more. "Please listen to the whole thing... Promise me." Anxin gave him a hard look. "I don't think you're in the position to get that sort of promise from me, Mr. Ling." His face fell. "Fair enough. I just want you to know...I..I really care about you Anxin. The reason I was looking into your parentage is I have been looking for you for a long time. My father knew your mother. There have been some ugly rumors you may have heard, I didn't believe them." Mr. Ling added hastily at her look and she had started trying to tug her hand free but without success. He continued rushing to get the words out. "About your mother and my father. The reason for the rumors is that my father gave your mother 5% shares of the company". Anxin's eyes widened when the shares were mentioned. "What does this mean?" she asks quietly as if in a daze.
"The paternity test was to prove my suspicions that you are not related to my father and the rumors are false. Whatever his reasons, since the shares were gifted to your mother since she passed those shares are rightfully yours as her only daughter. The 5% of shares can help sway board decisions" Mr. Ling explained. Anxin stared stupidly at him for a long moment. "So you were looking for me..-for these shares to help you take over the company." He sighed and nodded. She looked away the hurt deep in her eyes.
"So when you met me..." Anxin trailed off. "I thought it was a great fate. Not only had my brother failed at killing me but I had found the one who I was looking for. I improvised. I needed a place to stay to hide. To see what would happen and investigate. I wanted to find out what kind of person you were to help convince you to side with me for the company." She couldn't read the expression on his face as he spoke quietly and carefully as if it pained him but it had to be said. Anxin wondered if that was the whole truth. It was obvious she couldn't tell with him after all, it all could be lies.
"I see." Anxin says softly, interrupting Mr. Ling after she's been staring down at the ground too long taking it in. Anxin doesn't think her voice has sounded this lifeless in a long time, yet she stands up and with a large yank finally succeeds to get her hand free. "You can go." "Anxin!" Mr. Ling scrambles "I'm not done." "I am. I can't hear anymore about how you used me. You can..." She backs away slowly but is cut off by Mr. Ling. "Wait!" he insists, grabbing her wrists. With one hand he holds her firmly, the other he maneuvers his wheelchair to steer her back to sit on the fountain.
For a second she flashes back to his touches before and wonders how it can feel so different. Anxin misses Eightie when things weren't this complicated and doesn't know this Mr. Ling. The Eightie from before today drove her crazy and teased her but was caring. Not this Mr. Ling who gave her Eighties contrite looks but spoke of her as a means to an end. "Please let me finish." Anxin tries to push him away but Mr. Ling won't budge and moves even closer.
"Stop" She tries to say but he ignores her. "Anxin.. that was before I knew you. I was looking for you for different reasons and what I found..." Mr. Ling fixes her hair that had come undone behind her ear. Anxin promptly shoves his hand away. "was so much more." He continues looking intently at her. At her skeptical look Mr. Ling says "I know it sounds unbelievable but everything between us is true." "How can that be?" Anxin angrily spits. "When you've lied to me from the beginning." Shame covers his face but she is sure it's fake.
"I know I've caused chaos for you...please understand the confusion I have been under...you help ease my mind. Ever since you helped me after your house flooded my priorities have shifted. I care about you more than any shares." He states quietly. "Why should I believe you?" Anxin stares at him angrily." I will prove it. Just give me a chance..."
Mr. Ling looks at her hopefully leaning towards her. She shoves him away. "I can't even have you stay in my house anymore. I don't trust you. I will pay you for your injuries from our contract but that is it." He grabs her hands though she struggles. "Anxin ..You don't need to...I do I really have to go?" His eyes looked big and sad. "Go home Mr. Ling." She states firmly. "It has been a long day." "I will take you home." Mr. Ling insists. "You...Fine. you can get your things." Anxin doesn't want to argue with him since shew knows it will only make him more stubborn from the look he gave her. Also even if obviously Mr. Ling doesn't need the few things he has at her house it saves Anxin the trouble of what to do with it.
It is an awkward time heading back home. To her home Anxin reminds herself. Not his. Mr. Ling has his own home which she probably couldn't even fathom how fancy it must be. Anxin finally relents and pushes Mr. Ling to help get this over with muttering about this being the last time. He lets her, then surprises her by placing his hand over hers from where she is grabbing onto the wheelchair handle. "Let go!" Anxin tries to order and gives a hard tug to pull away but it doesn't come out strong. "I'm holding onto your hand while I can." He says firmly. She can't help and blushes. Mr. Ling catches it and he states as they get closer. "I know what you just learned is a lot... I hope you'll change your mind. What we had was real." "You feel like a different person." Anxin counters. "I'm not really." Mr. Ling says simply.
"I can cook pretty well. I can't stand roaches or other bugs, and have facts about germs stuck in my head." He pauses, smiling at her which she tries to ignore. "I am still good with computers. I was being myself just without my job." They pause as they go up the stairs. He left the wheelchair at the bottom and he takes careful steps. Mr. Ling is slow and manages to hang on to her for a moment longer than necessary when they finally reach the top of the stairs. "You fascinate me. I love how you draw and work so hard." Mr. Ling leans into her backing her against the wall . Anxin tries to push him away but he keeps coming. Next she tries to look away but Mr. Ling gently cups her face. "I want to earn your trust back and for you to forgive me."
